Effortless Braided Ponytail

A relaxed hairstyle creates a laid-back vibe unless a texture enhances your blonde, wavy strands. This effortless braided ponytail appears luxurious in its unique way. With added face-framing waves, you’ve got to embrace your confidence for this upcoming prom!
It’s not just an ordinary ponytail, as it features two side fishtail braids. A traditional updo becomes more captivating with these braids, and that’s why I adore this style immensely. I believe this hairstyle can be styled by girls with any dress type!
Effortlessly Curly Half Up Half Down Style

Embrace your natural texture and let your hair shine! Showcase your long, blonde locks with stylish braids for a touch of glamour. Rock this effortlessly curly half-up, half-down look and make prom an unforgettable evening.
Chic Half Up Hairdo

This half up hairstyle is effortless, yet chic! The two braids on either side provide just the right touch of detail without being overwhelming, and the loose curls introduce the perfect amount of texture.
This client had exceptionally thick, straight hair. After I styled each section with curls, I applied Redken’s Control Addict 28 Hairspray to lock in the curl before proceeding to the next part. After finishing the curling process, I teased the crown of my client’s hair to enhance volume, then incorporated a very loose French braid on each side of her head. The key product needed to achieve this look is hairspray!
An Exquisite Elevated Bun

Topping off your loosened updo with a pearl hair accessory can create such an exquisite elevated bun. Strands hanging from the sides and nape area let your style have a more relaxed and softer finish. If you have dark brown locks that melt into a blonde hue, these then make everything extra elegant than ever!
Chic Long Beach Waves for Women

These textured long beach waves are absolutely stunning! The movement is random, creating a romantic edge to a down hairstyle. The metallic shade of dark rose gold balayage is one reason you’ll be the star of the evening.
Beautiful Fishtail Braid

Secure your lengthy locks with an exquisite braid. You’ll always feel confident sporting fishtails!
Chic Bohemian-Inspired Ponytail

Gather your beautiful brunette locks into this effortlessly textured ponytail! A perfect style for an adventurous evening.
Classic Hollywood Waves for Long Tresses

Hollywood waves offer an timeless choice for long tresses when seeking a sophisticated and graceful prom hairstyle. These waves are straightforward to create, effortless to embellish, and celebrated for their elegance, charm, and allure. Hollywood waves are formed by wrapping small sections of hair around a curling iron in the same direction. For optimal hold, pin them while cooling, then carefully brush out, shape the waves, and apply a light hairspray.
Adorable Braided Side Ponytail

A loosely braided ponytail for prom is ideal if you intend to dance the night away! This hairstyle ensures your hair remains chic and out of your face for a refreshing appearance.
Chic Half Updo

This look is timelessly stylish. Our inspiration picture was a 50’s hairstyle. I would recommend volume and texture products to maintain lift at the roots, preventing it from being weighed down by the volume of hair. A lightweight hairspray is also beneficial for managing those troublesome flyaways.
Elegant French Twist for Prom

Here’s an elegant French twist prom style that complements your glamorous gown! The movement in this look is stunning, with the matching wavy strands from the hairline. The combination of brown and blonde shades feels pleasing and unmatched. My favorite aspect of this updo is how effortlessly stylish it appears. A hairstyle that is classic, refined, and perfect for every woman who desires a sophisticated chic look.
It’s ideal for the girl who has medium-length hair and wants to style it up, thinking she can’t. I’m here to assure you that the French twist makes it possible. Since this style has been around for years, you can also modernize it by adding texture, letting cascade pieces of hair frame the face. Separate your hair with your fingers for a less polished finish.
Trendy Topsy Long Prom Fishtail

I would describe this look as a chic fishtail pony that can be dressed up or down depending on the desired effect. My favorite thing about this hairstyle is the ribbon effect it gives your hair. Fishtails have become increasingly popular prom hairstyles for long hair. This style is best achieved on girls with medium to long hair with one length or long layers. This style can be achieved on any hair density or texture. This look is bold yet feminine and can be worn by all ages.
Elegant Long Side Part Waves

When it comes to prom hairstyles, the elegant long side part with waves is one of the most stylish choices. If you have lengthy locks, this style will enhance your look and give you a refined appearance for your special night. To achieve this glamorous look, use Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream. It will provide your hair with a radiant shine while protecting against humidity that can lead to frizz. Apply about a dime-sized amount from mid-shafts to ends. Then blow dry with a round brush until all moisture has evaporated from your strands. During drying, avoid tugging too hard on your sections of hair. Excessive tugging could weaken them over time.
Enchanting Fishtail Braids for Prom

These fishtail braids on natural copper hair are simply stunning! The half-up, half-down style exudes a boho vibe, perfectly complementing your long, wavy locks. Don this look at prom, and you’ll capture everyone’s attention.
Elegant Twisted Prom Half Updo

This is a stunning half updo with a twist. I appreciate how it is seamless and maintains a continuous look. It has a beautiful flow. Any face shape and hair type can achieve this style. There are no restrictions on face shape or hair type. Anything is achievable!
Chic French Twist Redefined

This look is the bohemian French twist. It’s a contemporary take on the classic French twist. It has a relaxed romantic vibe as opposed to the structured traditional style. It’s an effortless twist with plenty of curls and strands framing the face. Make sure to use a workable hairspray for a little hold but ample flexibility.
Chic Messy Braid Bun

Simply enchanting! It’s the texture that gives this chic messy braid bun its flowy and graceful vibe. Your dimensional blonde is sure to enhance its soft, stylish finish. I adore the appearance of this braided bun! It’s relaxed and tousled and carries a slightly undone aesthetic. I appreciate that it feels effortless, as if you simply tossed it up without investing too much time. Plus, braids are so in vogue right now and bring interest and texture to every style!
This look would be more effortlessly achieved on slightly unwashed hair. Incorporate a bit of dry shampoo at the roots for added volume and a touch of dry texture spray on the mids and ends for a bit of roughness and depth. If you have longer or thicker hair, anticipate a larger bun which remains stunning, just a slightly different aesthetic. For loose tendrils framing the face, you’ll want to have some subtle layering around your face, generally at collarbone length or shorter.
Charming Prom Hair Featuring Swept Up Curls

This look is a charming half up half down hairstyle for prom. My favorite aspect of this style is the volume. I was able to achieve it and the extra flair that braids contribute. To ensure the volume they would need, I recommend this hairstyle to a client who has below-the-shoulder-length hair or longer, as well as thick hair.
This style is fantastic for girls who enjoy having their hair down but also want elements of an updo. Be sure to have plenty of bobby pins on hand and apply some hairspray to keep your hairstyle secure throughout the night.
Elegant Half Up & Half Down Long Hairstyle

This is a classic yet graceful style and the ideal look to make you feel like royalty on your special evening. When creating this look yourself, always use a heat-protecting spray before curling your hair to ensure your beautiful strands remain healthy! Backcombing at your crown will create not just volume, but base to hold the pins in so they don’t slip out during the day or night. Layering hairspray (spray, smooth, spray, repeat) as you smooth out the half French roll will tame all of those annoying flyaways!
If you are searching for prom hairstyles for long hair that are more flowing throughout the night, the half updo style should definitely be considered. Another thing I truly appreciate about this style is that it’s adaptable. If you feel it’s too harsh around your face, just leave out a little more hair to frame and soften your appearance.
Extended Braid Bump

Try a slightly messy low updo look, with French braids on the sides. This style is quick because it doesn’t need to be curled beforehand. Like any updo, it’s easier to accomplish on hair that has not been just washed, ideally second-day hair. The braids are a fantastic way to tame thick hair, as well as give the illusion of fullness to thinner hair. They will also help keep your hair out of your face for dancing. The only product necessary is a light hairspray at the end, and it’s always good to keep extra bobby pins, in case anything comes loose.
Chic Low Bun Updo

Elevate your down-do hairstyle by showcasing your wavy, brown tresses. Strands of platinum blonde will highlight the movement of your waves, too! Face-framing strands and hair jewels are essential details to complete the chic low bun updo.
I would recommend pairing this style with off-shoulder dresses to accentuate a lovely back-neckline. I also enjoy creating some loose curls that frame the face to draw attention to your beautiful makeup. I curled the hair using a 25-mm curler, or sometimes a 32-mm for softer curls. To add more volume and texture, I love using Osis Volume Up. It’s also crucial to provide grip at your roots, so use pins to keep your hair secure.
Nostalgic Elegance with a Contemporary Flair

This hairstyle is perfect for a romantic gala, a sophisticated wedding, or even a lavish night out at your prom. The blend of pin curls and knots provides a nostalgic homage to the 50s while incorporating a contemporary flair. If you have thick hair and are seeking a chic upstyle, this option is perfect for you. The curls will stack beautifully, and the more hair you hold, the more voluminous the curls will become. For those aiming to recreate this style, choose vibrant colors that truly stand out for the top sections to enhance the overall look. This will greatly amplify the effect. Additionally, don’t forget to apply plenty of hairspray!
A Charming Dutch Braid

A charming Dutch braid will grant your dark, long locks a sweet and stylish look. Looking sleek with this trend, you’ll be enjoying the night with your friends.
Sleek Ponytail with Effortless Loose Waves

For a classic look on your special evening, consider a sleek ponytail with loose waves. Stunning prom hairstyles for long hair can be easy to achieve. It’s key to position your ponytail high on the crown for enhanced height and volume. Try misting your hair with a light-hold hairspray, such as Pureology’s Soft Hold. Do this prior to curling and your waves will remain intact throughout the night. Use a strong holding spray once you’ve finished curling. Opt for Pureology’s Lock It Down and you’ll have seamless waves that won’t sag.
Classic Glamour Long Half Updo

This stunning hairstyle will surely leave everyone in awe with its chic side bangs and voluminous wavy ends. Makes you feel like royalty for the entire evening!
Fairy Tale-Inspired Half Updo

A stylish half up, half down natural-looking fairy tale upstyle like this will have every guy lining up for a dance! Accessorize with a charming bow or flowers for a hint of sweetness.
Chic Double Braided Bun

One is not enough, so make it a pair! This double braided bun is a long hair updo ideal for any elegant-themed gatherings. The plaits look fuller on thick and platinum blonde tresses.
Elegant Prom Downdo Featuring Jumbo Curls

These stunning super long voluminous waves will undoubtedly make you the center of attention on your prom night! A simple yet incredibly attractive hairstyle just begging to shine!
Bohemian-Inspired Prom Hairstyle

I would describe this look as a bohemian-inspired half up half down hairstyle. My favorite things about it are the different textures and vibes that all of the braids give off!
Before styling this, make sure your hair is not freshly washed, but not too dirty as well. Having it just in between the two will give it that messy, undone look you want when wanting a boho hairstyle. I think this hairstyle is perfect for the girl who is into more of the eclectic and boho styles, with a messy and undone look!
Elegant Romantic Ponytail

I adore this look because it remains timeless. Any style that features a soft texture and a bohemian vibe are what I enjoy creating. This ponytail is sleek on the lower portion for a polished appearance, while the upper part is draped over loosely to maintain a soft aesthetic with some volume. A ponytail may be traditional, but anyone can achieve this by adjusting the smoothness and position of the band.
To achieve the best pony, the most important step is preparing your hair by blow drying it into the desired shape with a setting spray. Here, I utilized Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray. Blow dry all your hair back at the front, create substantial volume at the crown, and gather your hair up at the back. This method ensures that the roots are aligned correctly and guarantees a bump-free pony.
Elegant Chignon

Perfect for your thick, luxurious hair that shines beautifully in a blonde hue! This elegant chignon is styled to enhance the dreamy waves of your tresses. Allowing a few strands to frame your face brings a more delicate touch to this charming low chignon.
Stunning Braided Bun Updo

You should consider trying this stunning braided bun updo for prom for an exquisite finish! It’s the kind of style that you should opt for if you have bronde locks. Long, thick hair offers a natural-looking texture, which enhances your prom night ensemble. Adding wavy face-framing pieces can also provide a softer touch.
Elegant Prom Updo Featuring a Braid

Try a stylish prom updo with a braid for a chic and striking appearance. One of the simplest styles to create is a braid, then gather your hair into a ponytail, curl the ends, and you’re all set. You’ll be prepared to dance and enjoy an unforgettable night.
Adorable Rope Braid

Feel and look stunning on your prom night with this adorable rope braid. Looking shiny on long blonde locks, this is about to boost your confidence significantly. Complete the look with texture and face-framing pieces for a more delicate finishing touch.
If your hair is too long, it may not be suitable. This look will work best for clients with collarbone length to the middle of the shoulder blades. Fine to medium thickness will be ideal for this style. You will need to use some products that provide texture, such as texture sprays or dry wax sprays. This will create that piecey, textured appearance.
Elegant and Dreamy Updo

This effortlessly chic hairstyle is perfect for warm evenings and highlighting dress details, as it keeps your hair up & out of the way. This style is suitable for all hair lengths, and you can also incorporate hair extensions if you desire a more voluminous bun. I recommend this textured, perfectly tousled hairstyle as it’s an ideal way to showcase balayage and ombre highlighted hair.
To create this look, blow-dry your hair with a styling product (I used a liquid texture spray). Then apply dry texture spray throughout your hair to provide some ‘grip’. Section out the sides, backcomb to the middle section, and gather into a low ponytail, then back pull out through the top to achieve a ‘textured’ appearance. Backcomb the ponytail to enhance volume, then smooth it out and pin it to one side of your head. Next, pull it back across to the other side and pin it in to form a bun shape. Tuck in the sides by twisting them slightly to add some flair, overlap, and pin them into your bun, leaving a few delicate strands out around your bun. Leave some hair out around your face for framing, and use a medium or strong hairspray to set your style.
