I couldn’t believe it when someone told me, “I want something easy.” First of all, the word easy can mean so many things to so many different people, and most people want something cute and low effort which is a whole other discussion. There are few hairstylists who actually deliver when it comes to mature wash-and-go pixie cuts. The reality is, if the cut is right, it does all the work for you. The grow out is nice, the shape holds, and your hair looks like you tried even when you didn’t.
I’ve done enough pixies to know what works on women over 40, and it has almost nothing to do with style, and almost everything to do with knowing how to utilise a person’s natural hair. One of my clients, for over 20 years, battled her cowlick with the help of flatirons, products, and pure stubbornness. The second I cut it short enough to allow the cowlick to show, she cried in the chair because for the first time, her hair looked right. That is what a good pixie cut does: it stops fighting your hair and starts working with it. So, here are a few of my faves and I will share what I think about each of them.
#1: The Sleek Textured Pixie That Does All the Work For You
This cut is definitely a challenge to create. The length is just above the ears and provides a clear outline for the cut without feeling like a military style haircut. The subtle layers on top will provide great volume if you have fine hair. This will love you back if you have an oval of heart shaped face. The slight lift at the crown is everything here to avoid the cut being flat boring. Achieving the I woke up like this look will probably only require a bit of light texturizing paste, we are talking about thirty seconds of work.

This is amazing! I love the diagonal fringe that hits at the cheekbones and the point cutting with some razoring creates that costly-textured look that blunt cuts lose.
