Pixie haircuts are the most striking and noticeable type of haircut out there. Pixie haircuts are sure to be one of the most popular new styles for the upcoming year because these haircuts are guaranteed to instill the fresh styles, big changes, and bold haircuts they likely inspire in others.
The most noticeable negative to a pixie haircut is that once the decision is made there is no going back. There is no length to hide behind to compensate for the boldness of the decision. The very thing that keeps women from wanting to make bold decisions with their hair is the same thing that causes women to love pixie haircuts. I remember one time a kindergarten teacher of mine came into the salon and said she would be getting a very short haircut. She explained that this was not up for debate and when the time came, and she was ready, hair was removed to create a very short pixie cut with just under an inch of hair on top. The look on her face when she saw herself in the mirror was priceless. A lot of women have told me that same thing, and she is correct in saying that she feels like a new person.
There is no way to describe how much a pixie cut can change your perception of the world and how you look at it. You lose the hair and it’s like a psychological shift in the way you act, your hair is gone, it’s just you and the world.
These pixie cuts look really good going into 2026. We’ve finally moved on from the belief that a ‘super short’ haircut is just one simple look. There are a ton of different things that go into creating a good short hairstyle that are about more than just the length of the hair. Every single bit of hair that is cut is important, and how the hair is shaped plays a huge role in determining how it will look. This is why a lot of times short styles are cut more carefully than styles with longer. With shorter hairstyles there is always more to appreciate in terms of the craftsmanship that has gone into each cut.

#1: Soft Silver Pixie with Barely-There Edges
I like the way their silver hair looks intentional, rather than someone pining for a grow out of a bad bleach job. Each bit brings the hair in close to the head for some layered volume. Softer edges, around the nape, and around the ears, look gentle/less harsh. I also think this cut works a lot with the bone structure, which, with good cheekbones means this is going to be great for you as the cut serves as a frame. The texture on top is just enough to prevent it from falling flat, ideal for finer hair. Daily effort isn’t going to be a big deal with this. A little warmed up texturizing paste and you’ll be set.

#2: Edgy Choppy Micro Pixie with Pointed Micro-Fringe and Temple Flicks
I’m a stylist and a mom based in New York. I would describe this haircut as an ear-length choppy micro pixie with a pointed micro fringe and flics outward at the sides. This haircut is ideal for oval and round face shapes and works best with straight to slightly wavy, fine to medium hair, and it is of medium density. This look offers a lot of advantages, including an edgy style with a natural black shade that incorporates a built-in crown height due to a graduated perimeter, and this look has many advantages, like an edgy appearance and natural black color with a crown lift from the graduated perimeter. However, this cut comes with some negatives. Each day, you have to style it in a piecy manner, which can be problematic. Also, achieving this style the best requires scissor-over-comb, point cutting, and texturizing shears to create the gently scalloped fringe and rounded soft weight line.

#3: Soft Rounded Short Pixie with Natural Crown Volume
This super short pixie has about 1-2″ of length on top, clipper tapered nape, and a cropped micro fringe that gently frames a soft oval face and glasses. It’s best suited for fine to medium hair at medium density; internal graduation and point cutting give that lovely lift at the crown and manage a small cowlick. Pros: hair doesn’t require much styling so it’s practical and showcases earrings and glasses. Cons: it can overbulk on coarse curls and will be more revealing of the face.

#4: Choppy Dark Brown Micro Pixie with Tapered Nape and Cropped Baby Bangs
I’m 45 years old and a mother and a New York stylist. I’d call this hairstyle a choppy micro pixie—meaning it’s extra short and has one to two inches of hair on the top, clippered sides, a tapered nape, and tiny cropped baby bangs. This style is best suited for people with oval-shaped faces and straight, wavy, or medium-dense hair. The point-cut texture at the crown helps with volume. The time you would spend styling this is really minimal, and this hairstyle highlights your eyebrows and cheekbones, giving you a little confidence boost. Plus, if you want to keep your hair dark, you can do so without much maintenance, since it’s low maintenance. On the downside, this hairstyle shows the shape of your head, and skilled clipper-over-comb shaping and razor point cutting is needed to avoid a ton of stubby bulk. This look isn’t ideal if you have really coarse tight curls, either.

#5: Short Platinum-White Pixie with Choppy Texture and Tapered Sides
I would describe this as a micro pixie, particularly as a parent and NYC stylist in her mid 40s. She has a very short, choppy point-textured top and #1-2 clipper taper and nape at the temples with some root shadowing at the hairline. The hair looks straight, fine-medium and medium density. The advantages are that it’s bold, it frames my bone structure and shows off my earrings, and it’s quick to style. The disadvantages are the bleach to platinum which does require ash toner and purple upkeep, and regrowth which becomes very obvious.

#6: Platinum Cropped Pixie with Subtle Root Depth and Micro Fringe
As a mother, spouse, and stylist, I am 45 years old and live and work in New York. I have a micro fringe with a clipper tapered nape on my cropped platinum pixie. My hair is straight and fine to medium density, which fits my oval/round face. There is subtle darker regrowth at my temples and nape, which adds lowlight depth. The daily benefits of styling are minimal for the overall shape of my hair, which is quite stunning, however platinum does require regular toning and my hair is so short I have very limited styling options. In regards to the technical aspects, you have a 1/8 to 1/4 clipper length on the taper, scissor over comb point texture on the crown, and a violet based demi toner.

#7: Silver Ash Textured Stacked Pixie with Side-Swept Fringe
Crown lifts are about 1.5-2.5”, while the sides and nape are clipper tapered. I would consider this a silver-ash, texturized, stacked pixie, with a soft side-swept micro fringe. It is best suited for straight fine to medium density hair. Upkeep consists of maintenance on the toner/root shadow and precision stacking. This style is also very lightweight, sculpts the cheekbones, and dries quickly. To keep the ashy and dimensional look cool, I would utilize point cutting, a gloss toner, and bond preserving lightener. This style is best for an oval shaped face.

#8: Copper-Glazed Cropped Pixie with Subtle Temple Fade
I’m a hairstylist and mom from New York, and I would consider this a very short crop, with about 1-2 inches on top, clipped temples, and a tapered nape, which are ideal for oval-to-heart face shapes. The hair is straight and fine to medium in texture, with average density, so the stylist has done a clipper taper with a soft graduation at the crown for lift. The benefits of this style include being modern with a low bulk offering a free silhouette that highlights piercings and a neck tattoo, plus it provides for easy forward fringe shaping. The drawbacks are that the micro-fringe is going to need light paste or wax to sit right, the temple fade is going to need regular shaping, and this is not a great option for very coarse tight curls.

#9: Ash-Blonde Side-Swept Pixie with Clipper Taper
New York stylist and mom here. I can tell you that a very-short pixie (tapered temples, ~2-3″ on top) works for oval-to-round faces and straight hair with a fine-to-medium thickness and density. We did a clipper taper and some point-cut texturizing on top, paired with an ash-blonde root shadow with lowlights for depth. This cut provides easy styling and a more lifted look, but there is a trade-off with the styling versatility and continual color blending maintenance. As an added note, the subtle cross-crown layering helps conceal a small cowlick.

#10: Warm Copper Micro Pixie with Textured Fringe and Tapered Temples
In warm copper micro pixies, the sides are very short, while the top is 1-2 inches, and has a soft, textured fringe that sweeps to the side and is most suited to oval and slightly heart-shaped faces. The hair looks straight and has a density ranging from medium to thick. For the crown, we used slide-cutting which adds a natural lift, and for the fringe we used point cutting to soften the hairline, a clean taper at the sides, and soft babylights for dimension. The pros of this style are that it’s light, modern, and beautifully frames the eyes; the cons are that is does leave the nape and temples exposed, and that the copper will require glazing to stay fresh.

#11: Soft Rounded Micro Pixie with Feathered Baby Fringe
I am a hairstylist and mom based in New York. I work/create this super short rounded micro pixie, where the hair is cut, in this case, a half inch to three quarters of an inch on top, with clippered tapered sides, and a feathered micro fringe. This style works best with STRAIGHT hair of medium density, compliments an oval face type, and becomes tricky with the small crown cowlick, which is a good thing because it provides some nice natural lift. There are a lot of great benefits of this cut like how it is clean and lightweight. It really opens up the face and doesn’t require any daily styling, if at all. There are some downsides to think about with this style as well, because once the perimeter has been tapered to specific degrees (clipper #1-#3), it will require some soft edge sliding texturizing to keep the look. Also, this style will offer very limited options for an upstyle.

#12: Bold Textured Cropped Pixie with Tapered Skin-Fade
These daring hairstyles can be described as daring pixies with skin fades. The textured top is achieved through point cutting and light texturizing shears at about half an inch to 1 inch. The hair is straight and of medium density. A small crown cowlick is present which offers natural lift and the spikes can sit without the use of heavy product. The positives to this look are that it is contemporary and the only effort to style it takes is the application of a matte paste. The negatives are it requires routine fades to keep the sides neat and the length of hair offers few long styling options.

#13: Dark Textured Short Pixie with Soft Taper and Cropped Fringe
I am a Stylist and Mother in NY. The dark pixie cut has a soft tapered nape, with a gently rounded crown to create soft volume. This style best works with oval or small shaped faces, and straight hair that is medium to fine in texture and density. This cut offers great relief and ease when styling, but has some challenges, like the fringe growing out in a way that may look uneven, and a crown whorl which typically takes a lot of maintenance, particularly with detailed scissor over comb techniques, and some shorter clipper work to keep the nape feathering looking nice.

#14: Razor-Textured Short Pixie with Feathered Baby Fringe
I am mom and a stylist in New York City. This is a very short pixie cut with 1-2 inches on the crown and a baby fringe that is 1/4-1/2 inches cropped and feathered with cut ends that skim the ears. This hair is straight, medium to thick, and the oval face shape benefits from the crown being lifted. I did some razor texturing, point cutting, and soft clipper tapers to remove bulk and clarify some separation. This cut is tailored for minimal styling effort and great definition of the profile. This is not the best cut if you want to keep long lengths or if you want to conceal a prominent cowlick – this cut actually works with the small clockwise crown cowlick to give even more natural lift.

#15: Icy Platinum Micro Pixie with Blunt Baby Bangs
I’m a mom and a stylist from New York, and I would describe this as an icy platinum micro pixie – ultra short sides (clipper taper at about a 0.5-1 guard) and 1-2 inches on top with a blunt baby fringe and some point cutting to create movement. The hair looks fine to medium and straight, and the color looks like a full bleach to a pale level with cool toner on top. The benefits are a few minutes of daily styling, a clean jawline reveal, and a modern edge. The downsides are bleach maintenance, increased fragility, and a near complete absence of styling versatility.

#16: Short Tousled Pixie with Chiseled Micro-Fringe and Crown Lift
In this image, located on the left of the screen, you see Jennifer, a 45 year old New York mother and stylist, wearing a very short cropped pixie haircut with a micro fringe detail and a tightly tapered nape. Pixie cuts like this will flatter people with oval, heart face shapes and straight, slightly wavy, medium and thick hair types. This specific style will create volume on top and some nice face framing. Hair types that are on the thinner side may also benefit from this haircut as it will create less bulk around the sides. This style may also expose some of your ears, neck and may also require regular maintenance in terms of shaping the fringe and styling with a matte paste. The biggest draw of this haircut is the upward cut section of the crown that adds some covert temple asymmetry and cleverly conceals a cowlick while also boosting volume, which is typically a goal of a lot of hairstyles.

#17: Short Choppy Pixie with Cropped Curtain Fringe and Tapered Nape
This cropped pixie haircut features top sections measuring 1-2 inches, with a very short curtain fringe and a tapered, slightly stacked nape. It works best with hair that is straight to slightly wavy and fine to medium in density. Textured cutting and soft razoring at the crown create some good separation and height. The advantages of a style like this is that it is lightweight, face framing and effortless to style. The disadvantages are that it is limited in potential to grow longer and it takes very precise point cutting and stacking to get the desired effect.
Also, notice the small crown cowlick as it is another design element that contributes to the volume.

#18: Short Wispy Layered Pixie with Soft Tapered Side Undercut
Being a stylist and a mom from New York, this haircut falls slightly on the shorter side of a pixie style, with a soft taper on the sides using clippers, and wispy layered sides. The top hair is about 2-3 inches with a feathery micro fringe, and a soft nape tail which gives a hint of a mullet. Hair is straight, fine to medium density, and has a small cowlick at the crown which gives natural lift. The pros for this style is that is lightweight and frames the face well, and is made texturized easily with point cutting and some hair paste. The cons are that the fringe requires careful shaping and some product control. The growth of the undercut is very obvious, and is not ideal for very coarse hair with tight curls.

#19: Choppy Ash-Brown Micro Pixie with Cropped Fringe
I would consider this a choppy ash-brown micro pixie with a cropped fringe. The top is very short (about 1-2″) with tapered sides and a low nape to flatter a soft oval/heart-shaped face. The hair is fine to medium with slight natural wave and medium density. There is also a small crown cowlick which gives natural lift and nice separation. For this look, I would use point cutting and razor texturizing on the crown and scissor-over-comb at the sides.
This style has the advantages of being light and easily styled while embodying a face-framing shape. The disadvantages include the fact that the style offers limited length options and will require a light paste or salt spray to piece it out and define, so you will have to keep up with maintenance.

#20: Sleek Tapered Micro Pixie with Soft Side Fringe
The description states: “An extremely short micro pixie with cut sides and a tapered nape, longer and textured side fringe, great for oval face shapes. Hair is straight, fine to medium density, and the stylist has used scissor over comb tapers and point cut layering to deal with a subtle crown cowlick that I see. This style has low daily upkeep but opens up the face and draws attention to the eyes. The trade off is that it shows the shape of your head, and it does take some skill to achieve the right amount of texturing and light styling products to keep it looking messy.”

#21: Short Textured Platinum Pixie with Tapered Nape
Based on my experience as a fellow mother and a stylist, I would describe this as a very short micro pixie, about 1-2 inches on top, with a clipper taper even with the neck and ear skimming on the sides. This works for an oval face and fine to medium straight hair of medium density. I did scissor-over-comb and point cutting at the crown to create forward-texture that essentially tames a small cowlick. The benefits are that it is modern, lightweight and shows off a nice platinum with a soft root shadow. The drawbacks are that it is not suitable for tight curls or low hair density and requires a very precise technique to avoid brassy looks.

#22: Textured Short Pixie with Soft Curved Micro-Fringe
It’s a short pixie with texture and a soft rounded micro fringe. There will be about 1-2 inches on top to allow for some lift and the sides will be clipper tapered (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch). This hair type is wavy and medium in density. For a round face, the height in the crown is ideal to create an elongating effect. This style provides excellent curl activation, bang framing, and minimal bulk at the nape of the neck. The downsides include the fringe needing to be shaped daily as well as a stubborn crown cowlick. A crown cowlick is going to need some dry point cutting and texturizing layers plus a light defining cream to get that to sit right.

#23: Textured Micro Pixie with Wispy Baby Fringe
This micro pixie haircut, which comprises of 1-2 inches on top, cropped temple pieces, and tapered nape, works well with an oval face shape. This model has straight hair with a fine to medium density in a rich dark brown color. The top hair is cut using a point cut technique while the side hair is done using scissor over comb to produce a wispy baby fringe and subtler texturing. This haircut is good because it is lightweight and frames the eyebrows and cheekbones but is bad because it does not work well if you have very curly or thinning hair. Also, as the haircut grows, the crispness of the outline loses its freshness very quickly. There is a slight forward facing cowlick at the center of the head which will produce some natural lift and volume.

#24: Silver-Gloss Textured Side-Swept Pixie with Tapered Nape
I adore this cute pixie cut with 1-2 inch hair on top and a tapered nape! The hair is styled to have a lift at the crown so it sits nicely behind her big acetate glasses. To do the point cutting and slicing, I find cutting on hair that is fine to medium and of medium density makes it look even better. We did a soft root shadow with silver gloss glaze to blend the greys. This hairstyle is lightweight, modern, and face-framing. The trade-offs are that there’s less variation in styling and the color will need to be toned to avoid any warmth.

#25: Textured Auburn Micro-Pixie with Soft Micro-Fringe
New York City based stylist and mom, I would call this style a textured auburn micro-pixie with a soft micro-fringe, meaning very short clipper tapered sides and a point cut choppy top. This style is suited for straight medium to thick hair, and there is a small crown cowlick that aids in lift. It gives a good amount of shape and lift, as well as texture. Negative aspects include that the red pigment will need to be glossed on a semi-regular basis, and to define the point cuts you will need a matte paste. This works best for round to oval face shapes.

#26: Platinum Micro Pixie with Razor-Textured Layers
As a mother and stylist based in New York, this is a very short micro pixie (approximately ½ to 1 inch on top) with layers that have been razor-textured, baby fringe, and tapered nape clippers that suit a round to oval face shape. This works best on straight hair that is fine to medium with a medium amount of density. The benefits of this haircut include minimal styling and volume at the crown from point cutting. The downside is that this is high maintenance cut as you will need regular bleach/toning appointments and this cut will not disguise coarse or curly textures. Cutting instructions are: shear over comb, light razor finish, nape clipper #2-3, and leave a little temple length to sit cleanly with oversized acetate frames.

#27 Cropped Pixie with Natural Root Lift
Some short pixie cuts try to look effortless, but often end up making the wearer look forced. With this hairstyle, that isn’t the case. The sides and back are cut short, with just the right amount of length on top to achieve natural root lift. The hair looks less styled and more like great hair that was well cut and then just left, which is the hardest thing to achieve. This look is great on hair that has some natural volume. If your hair is one that lies pretty flat, you will likely need some volumizing powder at the roots, but other than that, this look is a wash and walk type of hairstyle.

#28 Layered Pixie with Movement Through the Crown
The main focus is the layering. It’s made so that the pieces shift individually, adding dimension but not a lot of weight. I also like that this sits above the ears because that’s an easy length to maintain since it won’t require much trimming on the sides. Overall, it may look a little unfinished, but I mean that in a positive way. It skews cool, not messy, which is a very fine line and relies almost entirely on the cut. Get this wrong by even a quarter inch and it looks like you’re growing something out. Get it right and it looks like this.

#29 Silver Close-Cropped Pixie with Razored Texture
It’s evident that this cut would look better with less hair. The fine, slightly wavy texture works in your favor here because each layer reflects light differently, creating variation in the reflectiveness of the silvery color as opposed to having thick, straight hair. The neck is cut short which helps the overall shape look more purposeful. If you’re considering going silver, this length is ideal since you won’t have to do color maintenance as often and the grow-out will be less obvious compared to longer styles.

#30 Polished Pixie with Structured Layers
Each layer has a specific structure and height, contributing to a more graphic, visually interesting style compared to a standard, soft blended look. When done correctly, this type of cut can look really expensive. If a stylist lacks experience, it will appear very choppy and unfinished, which is not desired at all. This cut would also look amazing with highlights, as the bright pieces would elevate the layered structure more. That said, the layered structure is strong enough as is.

#31 Spiky Textured Pixie with Full Coverage
Pixies have my heart especially when they don’t just do some textured thing and call it a day. She goes for it with a ton of texture, and movement in the spiky layers. The overall density is high enough to read as full and intentional. This is accomplished by spikes being uneven – with differences in direction, and length to avoid a 2004 look. A decent amount of product will be necessary for this, a good matte wax will ensure those pieces stay separated and loose, without looking stiff or shiny.

#32: Playful Bangs Pixie with Feathered Texture
Without the bangs, this would just be a standard short pixie cut, but the bangs add a certain charm. The bangs are textured enough to avoid the block head look when the bangs are pushed straight down. This texture allows the bangs to break apart and creates a more fluid and lighter feel to the hairstyle. The back and side lengths add just enough to keep hair out of the face but aren’t so short as to create a disconnect between the bangs and the rest of the cut. For this kind of hairstyle, you have to trust your stylist to get the bangs right because they do the most work.

#33 Wispy Fringe Pixie with Featherweight Layers
This cut is all about lightness. From the wispy bangs and softer layering at the crown, to the jagged touch that sits light against the jawline, it’s all light. This is the kind of pixie cut that someone who is nervous about going short should look at, as it has a softness that more aggressive shorter styles do not have. The top layers help achieve a floating effect with the hair, rather than creating volume, which is an important distinction to make when styling the hair. Here, the goal is not to have the hair look bigger, but to achieve more of a hair floating effect. This is one of the unusual cases where having less density is to your benefit.

#34 Layered Pixie with Warm Depth and Texture
The blending of these layers is amazing. There are no harsh lines and the transitions from shorter to longer layers are smooth. This creates a soft enough silhouette that most face shapes can wear this without any customizations. For clients looking to go shorter without the commitment of a side shave or a dramatic undercut, I consider this a fantastic ‘first pixie’.It’s really easy to wear without being boring, which is actually trickier than it sounds. If you wanted to go a bit further, a balayage would add beautiful dimension throughout the layers, but the cut has enough movement that color is really optional.

#35 Clean Textured Pixie with Easy Movement
This cut shows so much potential, and any understatement would be a compliment. It has layers to add subtle movement to the cut, and because the length is right at the ears, the whole shape looks intentional and clean. This is a fuss-free look. It’s the type of pixie that you could easily wear with a nice pair of earrings and that would be enough. The only thing I would say is that the layers are going to need a bit of direction in the morning. A quick finger comb and lightweight styling cream should do the trick to stop them from going flat before noon.

#36 Piecey Pixie with Soft Tousled Finish
What really stands out on this haircut is the tousled finish. Each layer has been cut to separate rather than blend, forming individual strands that are bouncy and catch the light. It’s a plus for the neck, which may sound strange, but a pixie this short does pull focus there, and the nape clean line adds polish to this look even when the top stays deliberately disheveled. This is the kind of cut that looks best a few days after washing, when it has settled and gained some natural texture.

#37 Curled Pixie with Close-Cropped Sides
The soft curls in this style make a huge difference. They create great volume at the crown, which is an often desired look, while leaving the sides neat and clean. What I appreciate about this version is the fact that the curls are not trying to copy a natural curl pattern, and I think that is a good thing. A deliberate curl definitely is more polished than a tousled cut look on a short hairstyle. If your hair is straight or has a slight wave, achieving this look is faster than most people spend blow drying a bob. In fact, a small barrel curling iron will take you about five minutes to do this. If you have straight hair or a slight wave, this look is even possible without a curling iron.

#38 Brunette Pixie with Lived-In Texture
This look is elevated by the warm brunette color. The dimension and texture of this color bring more richness to the style instead of just making it feel short. The color also helps the style from looking too short. The longer layers at the top provide good balance for the style. The sides are cropped just close enough to keep the shape and clean lines that contrast with the top messy. The top has that ‘I-just-rolled-out-of-bed’ look. For a pixie style that looks good under all lighting conditions, this is the type of cut I would suggest to someone. The warm color is also very flattering in an office with fluorescent lighting and even during golden hour!

#39 Soft Waves Pixie with Feathered Sides
I believe the waves in this style allow the cut to keep a softness that a lot of super short pixie cuts are lacking in. It also has a feminine vibe without being too much, which I always appreciate. The longer top section and the sides are all fully feathered together, so no choppy disconnections are visible. This is the kind of texture that naturally develops on hair that has a little bit of wave to it, so if that sounds like you, the cut is pretty much ready to go. If you have straight hair, some sea salt spray will do the trick to induce some waves. I wouldn’t recommend this cut if you have very straight and very fine hair, because the waves are what really make this cut stand out.

#40 Curly Pixie with Close Crop at the Nape
I typically show people with naturally curly hair this type of image when they ask me about going this short. Because the length has been taken away, the curls have more room to actually curl. The close crop at the nape creates a nice contrast with the volume on top and the clean line underneath. It looks effortless, unlike longer curly hairstyles, and looks more relaxed because there’s less hair and the curl pattern stays tight instead of being stretched down from the length. This cut will really simplify your mornings if this is your hair.

#41 Deep Burgundy Pixie with Tousled Layers
Thanks for your kind words! I love my new color too! The deep burgundy is beautiful and really rich and intentional on my pixie cut! With longer hair, a deep burgundy color can look uneven and faded, but with my pixie cut it is concentrated and vivid! The tousled layers are great for movement while still keeping the color uninterrupted! I really like how the shape of the cut is framing my face and feels soft. I want to be honest with the color. It will require a lot of maintenance because of how deep and rich the color is. If you like putting off touch-ups to ten or twelve weeks, then go for it, but this is probably not the color for you.

#42 Micro Pixie with Clean Bangs
While you can still style this cut, it may be shorter than the stereotypical buzz cut. The bangs are just the right length to help the cut avoid being seen as a full buzz cut (even if it is pretty much a buzz cut). The rest of the hair being super short gives these bangs extra softness. More than anything, this cut needs confidence, as there are no options to change, modify, or add something if you’re feeling off. What you see is what you get and that can be liberating for someone who does not depend on their hair for security.

#43 Close-Cropped Pixie with Natural Highlights
These are some of the natural features of the cut and with a cut this short, even subtle variations in color can be perceived as texture. This gives the hair more depth than it actually has. The cut has an edge, but it is not too razor sharp. That is how we keep it from feeling too masculine. A little more length on top is just enough to give you some room to style. I always think about how a cut will grow out because a cut you love in week one is even more important to look good in week six.

#44 Soft Volume Pixie with Crown Tousle
This short pixie cut is different from most because of the added height and texture at the crown. The added height gives visual interest without looking overdone. This is especially true with fine hair because that kind of lift is hard to achieve at any length. The remainder of the cut is close and clean allowing movement in that area to stand out. A little mousse applied to damp hair and air drying is all that is required to achieve this look. However, if hair looks flat after drying, you may need to direct a blast of the dryer to the roots.

#45 Natural Curls Pixie with Sculpted Shape
These curls sit so well in this style. They have a sculpted holding finish that allows the curls to work together and sculpt the hair to fall naturally. For those who may not know, this is what good curly hair cutting looks like. The stylist **actually** works with the texture. For this length, a curl defining cream will be beneficial as you will want to keep everything defined, hydrated, and separated.

#46 Light Pixie with Subtle Layer Movement
What stands out to me about this cut is its quietness. The layers seem to be just enough to provide some soft movement to the top. The color is understated and the soft shine reflects the healthy hair underneath; the color, cut, and shine adds to the polished look. There is never time wasted in this cut. It’s a cut that a lot of people would say you always look so put together, without being able to put their finger on exactly why. That is the sign of a good simple haircut.

#47 Platinum Pixie with Choppy Crown Layers
Having platinum hair with a choppy pixie cut could either be a hit or miss. In this case, it’s a hit. With this cut, the different layers capture the light and dark colors of the hair, with each layer being able to shine. The subtle height at the crown from that layering elongates overall proportions in a flattering way, which isn’t obvious, and certainly worth mentioning. If you are going for this look, keep in mind that it requires a lot of maintenance. You will need to commit to a lot of salon time, and use purple shampoo at home to keep the tone clean.

#48 Rich Brunette Pixie with Cropped Sides
The rich brown color creates a warmer look than the blondes and silvers on this list, and sometimes that’s exactly what a person needs. Not everyone wants a look that’s cool toned and editorial. The cropped sides are clean and tight, and the styled top is long enough to really show off the color’s depth in a way that a shorter crop wouldn’t. I think brunette pixies tend to get overlooked for more adventurous color options, which is a shame because a cut like this paired with an elegant deep brown is reallysomething special.

#49 Short Curly Pixie with Spiraled Definition
Stop overthinking. Your curls will have so much potential to really bounce and define themselves, as well as fully expressing themselves at this length, without the weight and triangle shape that longer cuts have. It almost feels like a crime to say, but short curly styles have a raw, indescribable joy that they give off. A certain level of commitment does need to be taken into account when you want to cut your hair this short, and this will determine how the curls will be styled after washing. #50 Understated Pixie with Soft Frame
To avoid an edgy hairstyle, you can show these types of cuts to your stylist. These layers are designed to frame the face without having hard angles or large disconnections. Everything blends so well that it creates an easy-going pixie look. The straight and moderately thick hair is ideal for this cut because it holds everything in place and the layers drape as intended. Not every haircut needs to be dramatic. Oftentimes the best statement a cut can make is being close to how you looked before.
