25 Stacked Curly Bob Haircuts That Are Stealing the Spotlight in 2026

The classic bob hairstyle is one of the easiest looks to achieve. It’s staying power is attributed to the styles versatility in different environments. While many opt for a short bob, longer front hairstyles are often more interesting and flattering. As we approach 2026, I am still very much drawn to the longer front shorter back styles. I’ve begun to really appreciate the more intricate bob styles. Front longer short bobs can elicit a more polished, balanced, and even intentional hairstyle.

Last year I had a client who had been straightening her hair for a decade. She hated her natural texture and felt it looked too uncontrolled and disorganized. I remember her very playful with the layered stacked bob we constructed for her. The idea is to make the hair texture easier to control while also delivering some structural and organizational shape to the hair. Not every hairstyle here will suit everyone. It’s unlikely to find every style shown for you, although I believe among the 25 styles you will find a few that resonate with you.

#1: Layered Curly Bob with Warm, Dimensional Highlights

Starting off with medium to thick curls, if you’ve been playing safe with one length cuts, this is a great opportunity to gain some confidence. The construction of the layers gives the curls the room to separate so they don’t clump up to form solid blocks of hair. The way the highlights are placed guides the light to the areas where the curls round out and flare out, and that detail is more useful than you might think. It’s a style that’s even better in real life, although you may want to use a curl defining cream to keep everything where it needs to be.

#2: Bold Stacked Curly Bob with Strong Curl Definition

This look allows the curls to be the focal point. The stacking in the back creates a rounded look that gives structure without having to use a flat iron. The definition in each curl says to me that the stylist knows how to use the right products. This is a cut that needs a bit of density to really shine, so if your hair is on the thinner side, you may not get the same effect. However, for all the naturally thick, springy curls, this shape is really flattering. The movement is great, which is something I always look for.

#3: Choppy Curly Bob with Auburn Depth

I liked the looseness from the choppiness on this cut. It looks nice and not too “done.” Curly hair with auburn highlights can go wrong really easily with highlights that are too uniform, but these are placed in a way that adds depth rather than just being stripey. This works on someone who wants texture and movement without the feel of having to style her hair into submission every morning. However, the color will need to be maintained. Auburn fades faster than most people expect, so keep that in mind before you commit.

#4: Bouncy Layered Bob with Warmth Through the Midlengths

What I like about the highlights is that they focus on the mid lengths and ends instead of the roots. This gives the entire cut a more lifted look, as if it is sun-kissed, and avoids that grow out headache. The layers are cut to help each curl bounce up individually, which is what this texture is really going for. It is going to be super important to keep your hair well conditioned, because curls that are this defined are the first to show dryness. A good deep conditioning treatment every week is going to keep things looking right.

#5: Soft Layered Curly Bob That Frames Without Fuss

This type of haircut looks easy to wear, but it actually is difficult to achieve. The layers are styled to soften the frame of the face so the curls will naturally fall in, and rearranging them won’t be necessary. This length is perfect for anyone who wants to change things up without going super short. If you have an oval or round face, this type of face framing will be really good. I think this hairstyle is one of the most low maintenance and easy to wear in the whole collection because it doesn’t require too much from you on a daily basis.

#6: Copper Stacked Bob with Side-Swept Bangs

I like this copper color. I don’t say that about every color. It is nice that this does not have a ton of reds. Curly textures with a lot of reds can be too much. I think the side bangs give a more relaxed feel and make the whole thing less rigid. There is definitely a risk of that with stacked bobs and wavy textures. I also like that this falls just below the jawline, as it will complement longer necks and the length won’t be visually choking. There is a big upside to minimal styling, but during humid days a lightweight anti-frizz serum will be an absolute must.

#7: Softly Stacked Bob with Gentle Highlights

The stacked curly bob can be seen as a subtler example of a curly bob and that’s a good thing. Not every hairstyle has to be loud. The highlights are very subtle and the layers are so light that even on a day you do nothing to your hair, it will still look like something. This style looks particularly good on oval and heart-shaped faces. The haircut is low maintenance in the best possible way. Its the type of hairstyle that gets you compliments from people who can’t put their finger on what changed.

#8: Silver Stacked Curly Bob with Volume Through the Crown

Silver hair for curly hair can be a serious commitment. I will be honest about that. You will likely need to bleach your hair multiple times to get it to this level. This can be extremely damaging to your curls. You should discuss this with your colorist beforehand. Your result will be a fullness in the back. Stacked curls in the back will give you a lot of volume in the back, and the longer pieces in the front will help balance things out and keep it from looking too short. You’ll also need enough weight in your hair to make the cut work because the volume will do most of the work. If you have fine curls, this cut will not work for you.

Textured Curly Bob with Sun-Kissed Highlights

#9: Sun-Kissed Curly Bob with Natural Texture

I would show them this haircut / style. Being ‘Beachy’ means you have sun kissed highlights, which is kinda obvious for a balayage, but a lot of them miss the mark. The amount of hair here means the curls can stack on top of one another to create effortless volume. Not everyone can create this look. Those with thinner curls would have a completely different outcome. With the right hair type, this is a wash and go look.

Voluminous Curly Bob with Rich Copper Tones

#10: Voluminous Copper Curly Bob

The warmth of these curls is notable, especially with the addition of copper tones. The volume is all natural, and the layers guide the hair so it’s always my favorite when cutting curls. I would let this hair be wild and crazy; it’s a cut that works against you the more product you put in. With fading, copper can shift quite a bit, so your color maintenance will require a bit of energy. A color depositing conditioner is going to be your best friend.

Defined Curly Stacked Bob with Subtle Highlights

#11: Defined Stacked Bob with Understated Highlights

An ideal picture for this style would be one with thick bouncy curls. This cut has stacking in the back that adds some shape and keeps the fullness of the curls. With this style the highlights add interest without drawing attention away from the cut. The hair sits just above the shoulders which is a nice length for an easy to manage style. It is worth noting that those with fine hair may lack the desired fullness in this cut. This may cause that part of the cut to look limp when it should look really full.

#12: Golden-Highlighted Curly Bob for Finer Textures

If you have finer hair and have been missing out on the curly bob conversation, this is a good choice for you. The golden highlights offer the illusion of more dimension, and the curls are soft and work with less density rather than fight it. It’s this shoulder-length option that provides more flexibility in how you can wear it. The downside with finer curly hair is that it can lose shape more quickly throughout the day, and so this is a cut that really benefits from a morning refresh.

#13: Voluminous Curly Bob with Layered Movement

You can see how much life this cut has, and that’s due to the layering. With thick curly hair, a layered cut prevents the hair from becoming heavy and triangular. The different layers release the curls from the heaviness so they can move freely, which makes the hair so much more dynamic. I like the craft of a haircut that has a good head shake effect, and I know that’s a weird standard. For styling, I would suggest a light curl mousse to keep the clumping effect from forming.

#14: Warm-Toned Stacked Bob Just Below the Jaw

The soft shades in this color pair beautifully with skin tones, which is the kind of consideration that makes all the difference when choosing a color. A cut that sits just below the jaw tends to soften more angular features, if that’s the aim. Medium density hair is best here, as you get the desirable bounce without the excess bulk. I’d recommend keeping a curl defining gel handy for the days when you want the curls to have a bit more order, but really this is not a high maintenance cut!

#15: Layered Curly Bob with Light, Fresh Highlights

Curly bobs like these are very trustworthy. There are also moments where you don’t need the latest style or the most dramatic looks. What matters most is that you have something that looks nice and doesn’t consume your mornings. The purpose of the highlights is to improve the definition of the curls rather than to create contrast. This is especially a good way to do highlights with finer hair. Most layered cuts need regular maintenance because the shape of the layers will change, but this is typical for most layered styles.

Textured Stacked Curly Bob with Subtle Caramel Highlights

#16: Caramel-Highlighted Stacked Bob with Natural Volume

When working with curly texture, we aim for a natural look in terms of dimension, and these highlighted curls do just that. strands that are all too light can create contrast in a way that leads to a look that is busy instead of beautiful. Back here, the stacking gives a nice lightness and volume that will be nice and flowy to run your hands through. The length will keep all of this versatile. I find that most of my clients love that this look can go from a Tuesday in the office to a Saturday night out, and this style captures that perfectly.

#17: Highlighted Stacked Bob with Fine-Hair Volume

The added highlights make the hair look fuller than it will without the highlights. If you have finer curls, styles like this are good because the layers create an effect that styling products don’t achieve. Hair lengths that are above the shoulders are easier to manage and are universally easier to manage. To be honest, having lighter colors does mean more maintenance. On highlighted curly hair, root growth is obvious because of the way curls compress the growth. You will also have to touch up your highlights every 6 to 8 weeks.

#18: Textured Curly Bob Grazing the Nape

I want to point out that shorter curly bobs involve a different kind of commitment than shoulder length styles. When curls are this close to the nape of the neck, the cut is more critical because there is no length to hide behind. Here, the layers are doing what they’re supposed to do—create volume in the right places and allow the curls to stack. The caramel highlights are the right touch! Also, this works best with medium to thick hair. If the hair is thin at the nape, this length could leave you feeling a little exposed.

Dynamic Curly Bob with Subtle Ombre Highlights

#19: Ombre Curly Bob with Natural Thickness

I think the ombre here is really nice and thoughtful because it takes the curl pattern into account, unlike some other pieces I’ve seen. The color change is located at the points where the curls are further from the root, which makes it look more natural, and less like a processed look. The thick, naturally curly hair is doing a lot of the work here, and all the cut needs to do is guide the curls into a nice shape. Just remember that with this type of cut, it will be prone to a lot of frizz, which will only be exacerbated in the humid months.

#20: Voluminous Layered Curly Bob with Warm Color

With this hair cut, you will have a lot of volume because of my layering technique and also the density of your hair. Not everyone has this combination, but if you do, you can really pull off this cut. The warm color adds to the dimension and the layers will give you movement so that it doesn’t feel heavy. It’s best to use a diffuser on your dryer if you want to achieve this level of definition, and the routine be easy once you get the hang of it.

#21: Full-Bodied Curly Bob with Easy Movement

This style has a fullness that frames the face nicely. The curls look neat and polished, but don’t look overly done. This offers a lot of styling versatility. It looks great on wavy, curly, and coily textures. Medium to thick density will give you the best version of this shape. If you want to add some visual interest, some subtle highlights through the mid-length would add some more dimension. To be honest, it works without highlights, too.

#22: Textured Bob That Celebrates Natural Curl Pattern

I appreciate this cut for not forcing the curls into something that’s unnatural for them. The length being just above shoulder is ideal for a lot of curl types and the cut is just working with that. The density is medium which means it holds its shape all day without expanding, and my thicker-haired clients know all about that. With this specific texture, humidity will be your enemy, so keep your expectations in check on those rainy days.

#23: Caramel-Toned Curly Bob with Face-Framing Warmth

The caramel highlights are purposely positioned around the face to add warmth to the area that you want people to notice. It’s a smart way to draw attention to curly hair because it does a lot without having to commit to full head foils and all the maintenance that goes with it. The length is also just right and the curl pattern is supported rather than interrupted by the cut. This kind of look really pays off for the amount of effort you put into your hair, well moisturized curls are going to look a million times better in this cut than dry neglected ones.

Chic Textured Curly Bob with Defined Curls

#24: Defined Curly Bob with Natural Shine

The first thing that catches my eye is the health of the hair, which plays an important role than the cut or color choice you make. Maintaining the length just above the shoulders keeps it highly manageable, and the layering gives just the right amount of movement so that it doesn’t look stiff. This cut works for fine to medium density as the defined curls create their own volume. This is honestly a cut that will need frequent maintenance. You’ll need regular trims and consistent hydration, and if you frequently cancel appointments, you’ll likely be disappointed with how the shape holds.

#25: Short Textured Curly Bob with Playful Shape

This is probably the most entertaining cut on the list and it is for a **very** specific person. That person would not be afraid to have really short hair and would have the right curl density for it. Because it is a nape cut, the back of the neck will be exposed and the cut is as much about the overall outline as it is about each individual curl. This cut is best for people with thick, natural, and loose curls because they will fill the shape out without the need for extra curl encouragement. If your hair is thinner or your curls are looser, this cut will be very different on you and will be a lot more difficult to manage. This will definitely be a fun cut to wear right out of the salon!
