It’s always a blast to discover things from the past! I stumbled upon an old mood board and it made me laugh because I have clearly been fixated on soft wave bobs for a long time! They are the best! A soft wave bob is so effortlessly cool. It’s like the hairstyle version of that one pair of jeans you wear all the time because they are the best fit. It strikes the perfect balance. And the best part about it is this style actually looks better the second day! A lot of people have messaged me the day after I’ve done their hair and can’t understand why it looks better and better and that’s because soft wave bobs are just that good. The more you just sit around and do nothing, the more these styles shine. I have found so many styles that I love and can’t wait to show you!

#1: Layered Soft-Wave Bob with All That Texture at the Ends
I especially love this one, and I am living for how the ends do their thing. This cut has so much movement because the layered do a lot of bouncing, so it looks like it’s moving even when it’s not. This is going to be so easy for you because the weight of your hair will keep the waves in great shape and hold the shape naturally! If you have fine hair though, I won’t lie, you will most likely need a texturizing spray to get this look. Totally doable though! I love how all of this just frames everything without it looking like it’s trying to you know?

#2: Ash Blonde Waves with Those Dark Roots Doing the Work
Can we just take a second to appreciate this color? The ash blonde melting into the darker roots is one of the things that I have been loving the most in the chair rn. It gives the look of SO much more hair than what is actually there. If you’ve had a client almost cry happy tears over that, you know exactly why I love it. The bob sits just below the jaw line which is a nice easy length to be comfortable with for most people. Here’s my honest take though, those roots are going to grow out and look less ‘intentional’ and more ‘I forgot to book my appointment’ if you don’t keep up with it. Just know what you’re signing up for! It’s totally worth it in my opinion!

#3: Espresso Tousled Bob That Looks Like You Woke Up This Cool
This haircut will leave your friends confused while they compliment your style. The dark roast color is sleek and classy while the waves will keep the style looking fresh rather than outdated. The length is ideal as it sits just below the chin which will give the face volume and widen its appearance. The best part is that the dark brown color is versatile so if you want to make some changes and add a few highlights, you can do that. To keep the volume throughout the day, use a lightweight mousse while the hair is damp to avoid the waves flattening.

#4: Smokey Taupe Waves with the Crispest Ends I’ve Seen in a While
I must mention the detail of the ends. These cuts are as clean and precise as a surgeon’s, but you can tell the cutter put a lot of care into it. With that much detail, it seems like these waves were all placed there by design. The smokey taupe color is one of those colors that you don’t have to look too hard to notice, but it’s still really pretty. If you’ve been flat-ironing your hair for a long time and are afraid to go wavy, I recommend this cut for you. It’s a nice, subtle way to ease you into it. I get the concern that your hair will get big and poofy, but don’t worry, the subtle layers will help the waves do their thing, instead of the big poofy look.

#5: Rich Mocha Waves That Just Want to MOVE
This colour makes me feel like I want to drink a coffee, and also for some reason, want to put coffee in my hair? I mean, rich mocha is gutting, and especially with warmer undertones on your skin, it makes everything look more alive. The waves here have a really beautiful flowing pattern, they’re not too structured or too beachy, they’re somewhere in the middle and I think that’s what makes it special. If your hair is medium to thick, this is going to be a super easy style to maintain because your natural texture is already doing half the work. For styling I’d say grab a wave spray and scrunch it in, and you’re good to go. Don’t overthink it.

#6: Auburn Tousled Bob That Makes Red Feel EASY
How nice is this auburn color? I love that this color gives a warm tone but isn’t too in your face about it. The waves keep it casual and the whole look personable. The cut is also really easy to maintain as well at just below the chin, so the layering isn’t a whole bunch, just enough to give you that volume without the effort. The only real talk I have here is that auburn fades really quickly without protection, so you will want to get a color protecting shampoo as an investment.

#7: Caramel Soft-Wave Bob with That Sneaky Little Ombré
I call this “sneaky” ombré for the reason that it’s more subtle and only really shows when the light hits the hair a certain way (that’s the reaction we’re going for). The roots are a deeper mocha color and then it transitions into soft caramels at the ends. The transition is so smooth, it looks like your hair just does that! One of my favorite lengths to cut is collarbone length because it’s long enough to pull up when you’re cooking (or whatever) but also short enough that it looks intentional when it’s down. The waves just add enough texture to keep it interesting! Color upkeep here is moderate. While it isn’t as severe as a full blonde, you’ll still want to pop in for touch ups to keep that gradient looking seamless.

#8: Espresso Soft-Wave Bob with Layers That Know Their Place
I like that the styling of this cut is really effective, yet not too showy. The layers aren’t obvious but you can tell the way the hair moves, which is exactly how layers should function. The chin length hits are particularly nice for oval or heart shape faces as it gives that soft framing without hitting too far down. The espresso color is also classic; deep brown will always be lovely. If you have naturally wavy hair this cut will really be one of those “wash and go” most places claim it is but it is rare and fantastic.

#9: Sun-Kissed Tousled Bob That Lives in the “I Didn’t Try” Zone
We love the magic trick that this haircut plays. It could give the impression that you woke up looking stunning, and the sandy ash-blonde colors are reminiscent of beach hair in February. The ends are textured and uneven which makes it look not too polished, and that is exactly the vibe. The various color tones will need a bit of upkeep, but because it requires such a low level of styling most people consider it a fair trade.

#10: Burgundy Waves with Bangs That Actually WORK
I love seeing a good bang moment and this one is giving me all the feels. The burgundy color is super rich and juicy and in the light it looks like it could be red wine! Then you add soft waves and perfectly cut bangs?! Come on. The bangs do such a good job of drawing your attention to the eyes and that’s always super flattering. Now here is my real talk, bangs plus fashion color means you will be at the salon more than your average person because both need a lot of maintenance. BUT if you actually enjoy going to the salon (hi, we exist) this is going to bring you a lot of joy. The natural waves will help your day to day traveling minimal which is going to balance out all those salon visits perfectly.

#11: Coal-Black Soft Waves with That Dramatic Energy
I understand that this look might not be for everyone, but there is something about deep black hair that gives an added level of strength and confidence. With lighter skin tones, the contrasting boldness has a nice effect. A wavy cut bob is much less severe than an otherwise straight bob and helps enhance the approachability of a style. For people looking for a hairstyle that is going to exude an air of \”I have it all together\” style without the need for hours of daily styling, this is definitely a color and style that accomplishes that. Most people will find that this style hits around the jaw, which is considered to be one of the most flattering areas. It’s important to be aware that this will require regular touch up with color because almost nothing looks worse than black hair that has a faded color.

#12: Brunette Waves with That “My Hair Just Does This” Energy
I don’t know how many times I have had a client show me a picture and say, “I want my hair to look like I did nothing to it.” I think to myself, “Yes, I can definitely do this for you, but the skill to achieve it intentionally will be a lot.” Variation of the curls is so important. Waves that are bouncy have to be looser than other waves. It creates a more natural look. The length of this personally is very flattering, and a bit more fashion forward in a nice way. It sits right below the cheekbones which is really underrated in my opinion. If you have a natural texture that is already wavy, you are going to LOVE this! It will basically just be enhancing what you already have. Just a warning, you might need more frequent trims to keep the ends from looking scraggly.

#13: Balayage Bob with Waves That Show Off the Color
This is one of those haircuts where you can really appreciate both the technique and color used. Look at the waves! They highlight every variation in color and make the balayage pop, which is incredible styling. I appreciate this for medium density hair because you get enough waves to showcase the dimension without it looking stringy and too thin. An even bigger plus, balayage grows out SO much more gracefully than traditional foils, so you won’t have to deal with those obvious lines of demarcation at four weeks. You’ll definitely want to do deep conditioning treatments, since the lighter pieces will need extra care.

#14: Ash and Walnut Waves That Give You Dimension for Days
What a great color combination!! I don’t want to say jealousy is the right word but when I see combinations like this I do feel a little green. The combination of ash and walnut creates a beautiful depth of color harmony. It looks as if there is a rich and complex blend of at least six colors. Love the length!! You have hit that sweet spot where the hair can do that gorgeous swish as you walk. The waves look soft and natural like you didn’t spend time with a curling iron – but in a great way! The cut will grow out with an even soft look in between your appointments which is great. You can definitely expect to get regular tonal appointments to keep that gorgeous ash from turning brassy.

#15: Silver Waves with Dusty Rose Because WHY NOT
I remember a time when I had a client say, “I want grandma hair, but make it cool,” and I wish I had this picture to show her. The stunning dusty rose highlights combined with a silver base feel both fancy and whimsical. The waves make the color look beautiful because it makes it always shift. I’m not gonna lie, this is more maintenance than usual. The silver and dusty rose colors fade fast. This is going to lead to a lot of brassiness and muddy looks, which means you’re going to need purple shampoo and lots of toning appointments to maintain this look. However, if you LOVE fun colors, this is totally worth the maintenance.

#16: Copper Waves with Graduated Layers That Frame Everything Perfectly
I love this copper trend! Copper suits pretty much everyone! This hair color has me imagining how I would feel walking in totally drained and then walking out feeling rejuvenated and getting complimented on how rested I look. The graduated layers add a nice soft frame around your face and nice taper in back for a clean look. The waves help make it look less structured and more free. This hairstyle is super easy if you don’t have thick hair. It really just needs a little help from a curler and some scrunch. It’ll be worth it to spend a lot of time at the salon for color touches since it will look so good!

#17: Multi-Tonal Platinum Waves with That Shadow Root Magic
Don’t you think shadow roots are cool? Let me tell you what shadow rooting means. We darken the roots on purpose so as your hair grows out, it looks like an intentional ombre instead of, “Oh wow, I’m so overdue for my appointment”. If you want to be blonde and not spend all your time in the salon, this is one of the best options. These platinums are blended from icy beiges and all the tones are waved together to play. To get this pattern of loose and big waves, you need an iron with a big barrel. It is an AMAZING look on fine to medium hair because the waves create the illusion of a lot more density. If you have not maintained platinum before, I will be honest, the initial cost is high.

#18: Vanilla Blonde Bob with the Gentlest Waves
I love how bright this blonde is! I also love the length of the cut. It is so youthful and modern energizing! The waves really are soft and gentle, but the softness of the curls makes the look really good. If your hair is fine or medium, you are going to get the best version of this look. The curls won’t weigh down the hair, and the waves will really hold. The level of upkeep is really high, but look at the blonde! It will look great with bond-building treatments, toning, and more frequent salon visits. Sometimes maintenance is just part of the deal.

#19: Brunette Waves with High and Lowlights Doing All the Heavy Lifting
When people ask for something “different, but not too different” this is the cut I show them! It is a modern take on the classic brunette bob, adding just enough creative color to the ends to make it feel fresh and brand new! The highlights are so soft and blended, they won’t be obvious as having just been colored, but they add an amazing depth to the waves. As for the waves, the volume that the layered cutting technique brings is key. If you have fine hair and want that “full but not big” look, this is the cut for you! The rounded shape helps to soften more angular features as well which is a bonus. Keeping waves in your hair will take a bit of effort if you have super straight hair, but as long as you have a curling wand, you’ll be good to go!

#20: Light Ash Blonde Waves with That Airy, Effortless Thing Going On
I can see how this would make someone feel relaxed. It’s so light, fresh, and clean looking. I also like the ashy tones which help it not be too warm or too yellow. I can see how this would make the perfect hue for soft waves. The cut is also supposed to sit right above the shoulder, which is the best length to show off the waves without being weighed down with a lot of extra hair. If your hair is medium to thick, you’re also at an advantage here. The hair’s natural density gives support to the waves. Subtle layering helps distribute the hair so it doesn’t look too helmet-y. With hair at this length, that is the real concern. The lighter color does tend to get dry faster so keep up with your conditioning and you’ll be fine.

#21: Caramel Tousled Waves That Feel Like a Warm Hug
I love the color! It has a certain warmth that makes me want to be near it. The caramel shade is just right. It’s not too light and not too gold. It’s perfectly in the middle and compliments all skin tones. The intent for these waves is to look soft and a bit messy. I like that it makes the entire look a bit more casual. They’re also above shoulder length which creates great movement without adding weight. If you’re looking for low effort styling, curl enhancer is your new best friend. Just run it through damp hair, and let the waves do their thing. I find that scrunching and air drying takes about five minutes, and the rest is all your hair looking fabulous!

#22: Golden Blonde Graduated Bob That Makes Fine Hair Look INCREDIBLE
My fine hair friends, if you haven’t done the graduated bob hairstyle yet, this is your sign! Bobs that are shorter in the back and longer in the front offer the volume and shape fine hair needs. I love styles that create the look of having more hair! The golden blonde color is really nice and warm skin tones look good with that color. The soft waves also help add to that volume. The shape does all the work so you don’t need a ton of product in your hair. I will say the color will need some maintenance because the golden blonde can get brassy. The graduated bob will need a little bit of upkeep in between cuts, but that’s the only effort you’ll need!

#23: Chestnut Waves with Highlights That Look Like They’ve Been There Forever
I can see the new highlights from the stylist, and they are very natural, blending with the base of the chestnut warm and rich colors. The new layered cut that sits just above my shoulders is also easy to style and easy to create new waves with the hair.
The cut looks amazing on people who are putting new color in for the first time. It has so much versatility so they can style it however they want. The hair is in need of a trim because it starts to look like it has no shape.

#24: Cascading Caramel Waves That Flow Just Right
Here, the use of layering is also smart as it saves the colorist from having to go heavier on the highlights. The cut is more pronounced allowing the color to lighten up from the bottom. Most people do not mention how great cuts are for color. The waves are meant to appear more fluid rather than chaotic. The movement is also easy and natural to achieve between appointments and it won’t look unruly. This length is also great because it grows out really well. If you tend to push your appointments a bit past the recommended time, this will be very forgiving.

#25: Silver Waves with Blue Accents for the Bold and the Curious
I had a client who said, “I want something a little… different.” I could see she was getting nervous about what I might suggest. This is a good example of fashion colors. We want something really bold, and just a tiny bit more subtle. Depending on the light, the blue is more of a cool shimmer than a blue, so it’s like a refracting silver. The blue is just sort of peeking through which means that the silvery-blonde base really is doing a lot of lifting. The soft waves can look really nice because they help the different colors shift and blend in a nice way, but also, if your hair is fine, the waves give you a nice volume. You can probably tell that this look takes a bit of work. Both the silver and blue are going to shift and fade and it will need a bit of maintenance.

#26: Beachy Blonde Bob That Looks Like Vacation Hair
It is so nice coming from the beach and your hair looks phenomenal without any effort. That is how I feel about this hairdo. These waves paired with their stunning highlights give the look of the sun which is a look I can never get tired of. It is perfect for the summer. Those with fine hair will love this bob because the large layers give the appearance of volume and fullness. This look is for someone who wants to look put together but in reality, they’ve only used a couple products. A light sprinkle of sea salt spray and some light scrunching is all it will take. The blonde will require maintenance which is expected from any blonde but we all know this so it’s not worth mentioning.

#27: Mahogany Waves That Feel Romantic Without Being Over the Top
Mahogany is such a lovely hair color and mahogany is definitely a hair color that deserves more appreciation. Mahogany has such a unique lightness and warmth to it that really shows beautifully in photos, and even more so in person. The ends of the hair being a lighter shade creates such a captivating look and give the appearance that every wave is a different color. This soft wave style is cut in such a way that it is feminine but not old fashioned. The thickness of the hair will hold all of the waves so it won’t be too difficult to achieve this look, and the color of the hair will be really nice to add some weight to it. I honestly don’t say this a lot, but this style is universally flattering.

#28: Face-Framing Layers with a Sun-Kissed Balayage That Makes SENSE
The balayage done here is not a set of random lighter pieces put in throughout the hair. It is done to warm up the skin tone around the face and to highlight those face-framing layers. This is the difference between an average balayage done and an outstanding work, I would call this outstanding. The collarbone grazing medium length provides versatility without commitment. It can be worn up, down, braided, you name it. The soft waviness of the hair provides the perfect balance. Nobody wants to deal with the extremes of straight or curly hair, so it’s great that this is the choice for those that want to avoid that. This warm balayage is especially nice for those who have never colored their hair before, as it provides the change without making you lose your identity.

#29: Highlighted Soft-Wave Bob That Makes Your Face the Focus
This haircut has some amazing highlights surrounding the face! This is a great technique, as putting the lightest pieces around the face creates a lovely brightening effect. It’s better than any highlighter from Sephora! The waves also add some texture and keep it from being your average bob. The above-the-shoulder length is versatile for a lot of different ways of working and living. If you have thin hair, the waves will also give extra volume. I consider this haircut to be great for ‘everyday’ looks as it will still look good after spending 20 minutes styling, or 2!

#30: Chocolate Soft-Wave Bob That’s Richer Than It Looks in Photos
The shade of chocolate brown is stunning, even if it is considered just another brown. The chin-length style with soft waves looks modern and very clean. Also, the body from the waves prevents it from looking flat or boring. This style works well with medium density straight hair. If your natural hair texture is straight, you will need to put in some effort to create those waves. But, it’s not a big deal. All you need is a 1.25 inch curling iron and about 10 minutes. I should also mention that this chocolate brown shade calls for very little upkeep since it’s close to the color of most people’s roots. The grow out looks nice.

#31 Caramel Soft-Wave Bob with the Cleanest Cut I’ve Seen in a Minute
I see that line. I SEE IT. Who did this bob? Whoever did has some crazy control because that edge is so clean it looks like it was cut with a laser. A soft-wave bob is so stunning when the waves are partnered with a slick and clean cut perimeter. It elevates the whole style and is no longer the average look. The warmth of the caramel color is perfect as it matches the medium density of the hair. It allows for a perfect length, as it is easy to pull back into a small ponytail, and will still look good when worn down. That did not come easy at all. This will require a bunch of trims to maintain that shape. So if you’re the type to cancel her trim appointments consistently, this hair will give you a warning.

#32: Bright Blonde Textured Waves with a Jawline-Skimming Cut
Bobs that hit right at the jawline look really good on almost everyone, and I always tell my clients, “This is where the magic happens.” Bright blonde highlights against a deeper base look really pretty and give the whole style an energetic and lively feel. The waves are really important because they keep the style from looking like a boring one-length bob. If your hair is fine to medium, you’re lucky because this look gives the illusion of fullness without needing a lot of hair. To achieve these waves, all you need is a curling wand with a smaller barrel. With that much blonde, regular maintenance is going to be needed, but that’s the cost of looking this good!

#33: Golden Highlighted Waves That Move Like They’re in a Shampoo Commercial
A hair commercial look is described here. It’s all about bounciness and swishiness. These layers are placed PERFFECTLY so that they create movement. That’s an important distinction in hair styling. Gloden highlights are going to complement warm and neutral skin tones really well and also add some warmth to your look. What I love even more is that it looks great straight out of the salon with just a little bit of product in it. It’s such a great cut because it looks great styled as well. For fine to medium hair, if you want to get the most out of this style, make sure you put a volumizing mousse on the hair when it is still damp. That way you will set the waves and they will stay in all day.

#34: Sunlit Soft-Wave Bob That Doesn’t Need to Try Hard
I am very thrilled that this look took an effortless amount of time to complete and the highlights framing the face with the nice soft length finish above the shoulders and the soft waves looks gorgeous, in my opinion. The best thing about the highlights is that they are soft, faded, and brighten in a wonderful way. The texture seems perfect to be fine to medium so that the waves looks created volume in hair because the end look is soft waves and not overdone. The only negative is that those with fine texture may need to do a little touch up with an iron, but that’s only about five minutes and not too much!

#35: Warm Caramel Waves with Just a Whisper of Highlights
I like understated highlights like this because they provide great dimension without changing the color too much, and that’s exactly what’s happening here. The warm caramel base is doing its job and the highlights are just giving it a touch more life. The waves have lots of volume and movement, which is ideal for medium to thick hair types since your natural density supports the wave so well. This is a great look for someone who wants to gradually try highlights since they are subtle, the grow out will be nice. To keep those waves looking fresh between washes, a lightweight mousse will do the trick.

#36: Ombré Soft-Wave Bob That Adds Dimension Without Drama
The ombré effect creates a subtle change that stays true to the client’s natural look. The transition from dark to light isn’t extreme, but ombré adds a nice touch to make the waves more captivating. The slightly above shoulder length is super versatile and works well with pretty much any face shape. This cut will look great on you if your hair density is medium to high. The waves and ombré will work well together to create a lot of texture and movement. For fine hair, a volumizing product will work best to provide more definition to the cut since a lot of the magic is hidden beneath the fullness of the waves.

#37: Textured Wave Bob with Ends That Have Their Own Personality
The textured ends of the hair really show movement and life to the bob! The way the hair flips and bends in different directions is great. The messy and effortless looks is great, and you can see the great cut. The bob makes the balayage look great. The color of the balayage is great because it adds dimension while keeping the focus on the cut. This type of wave is great for fine hair because the texture makes the hair look thicker. The ends are great for popping waves and holding pattern so you would likely want to go over the waves a lot to get the look.

#38: Balayage Soft-Wave Bob That Looks Better Every Week
I appreciate your comment with the above average score every week. It sounds like you want to keep the balayage placement and the length of hair continues to grow. Your waves look great and are so soft and beautifully done. This length looks great for summer too as you will find it’s easier to stay cool and it’s easier to maintain. It looks like this cut will need the least amount of maintenance too as you will want to keep the length from growing. As for your color, you will want to keep it toned to prevent it from looking brassy, but the grow out is left alone and will not be stressful. It looks gorgeous and will be a great choice for you as it will be a look great choice for all those times you may not want to make many appointments at the salon.

#39: Pearl-Accessorized Soft-Wave Bob for When You’re Feeling FANCY
Simple styles don’t have to be boring and this pearl headband is a great styling accessory for hair up to shoulder length. It softens the look of a straight bob and adds a decorative touch which makes it ideal for special occasions. The headband is great for bob hairstyles because the shorter length of the hair means the headband can be seen more easily and won’t get lost like it might in longer hair. Achieving soft waves isn’t hard either so it is a great hairstyle to wear if you want to keep your hair out of your face but don’t want the hassle of using hot tools every day. A headband really completes the look.

#40: Beachy Highlighted Waves with the Prettiest Glow
When hair has highlights, the waves enhance the dimension in the hair. The highlights have been strategically placed to reflect light frame the face at the mid-lengths, and the waves accentuate the highlights in a way that straight hair cannot. The jaw-length waves are very complimentary to heart shaped and oval face shapes. The polished and relaxed look is what most of my clients mean when they say they want an “effortless” look. The fine hair density works in your favor as it adds to the softness and fluidity of the waves without looking thick and overwhelming. Because the bright highlights and defined waves, the upkeep is moderate and won’t take a lot of time.

#41: Beachy Textured Bob with Playful Waves
In my opinion, wavy bobs look better when they are less polished. There is something about the bob that makes the person look more individual and creative. It is more about the actual structure of the hair rather than the styling. The fact that the bob is less than shoulder length means that the hair will not be too heavy and dragged down. More work is usually required to keep hair looking like it’s got a nice beachy look, as opposed to looking like it has just been rolled out of bed. A more relaxed and ‘I just lived my life in my hair and it looks good’ kind of look is actually more work. While this will depend on the individual, if your hair is around shoulder length, and it is of medium density to fine thinness, this will suit you really nicely. What I am trying to convey is that this will not be unachievable because it will. Don’t worry, at first it may take some time to achieve your desired waves. Once you get enough practice it will become second nature to you.

#42: Icy Blonde Soft-Wave Bob with Cool Girl Energy
Icy blonde hair has and always will give off that fresh and cool vibe. I am obsessed! It takes great skill to keep this hair bright and clean with no signs of brassiness. I really love how the subtle waves help soften the look. Icy blonde can be a bit harsh looking on a straight bob so those waves soften the overall look to be calmer and friendlier. The shoulder length hair is so versatile and flatters so many face shapes! The fine to medium density is ideal for this color because thinner hair shows off the cool tones really nicely. It’s going to take a lot of upkeep to keep this look fresh and regular purple shampoo in between appointments to maintain it.

#43: Caramel Beachy Waves with Soft Movement
Achieving that ideal effortless look, doesn’t it almost feel like you have to try? The subtle warm tones and caramel (hair) color soften the skin and the shoulder beachy waves look nice. The idea is to style it as minimally as possible. That’s likely why those waves are meant to look a little untidy and more natural. All the appeal is there. A little more lift is possible by using a texturizing powder at the roots, particularly if your hair is finer. Other than the waves, this look is low-effort. Also, the caramel color is an added bonus for growing out hair.

#44: Platinum Highlighted Waves with That Soft, Cozy Feel
I know I say soft a lot, but I mean it when I say this look is soft in every way. The highlights are soft, the waves are soft, the length is soft, the entire look is soft, calm, and comfortable. The dimension the highlights add is great for those wanting to add brightness for the summer without going full blonde. This is a great middle ground. The look is perfect for those with fine to medium hair as the waves create fullness, and the highlights give the illusion of texture. I would recommend a volumizing dry shampoo for days two and three to keep it looking fresh and lifted. The goal is to look “polished without trying” and let’s be real, that’s the overall vibe.

#45: Warm Chestnut Waves with the GLOSSIEST Finish
This hair is shiny, healthy, and well maintained. The color is glossy warm chestnut, which is beautiful, especially with waves. The light reflecting from each bend makes the style look even more luxurious. Defined waves look super flattering to oval and heart-shaped faces, and these ones sit just above the shoulders. With a length of just above the shoulders, and a medium to fine density, the waves can really shine (literally) there. If you want to get this look, you should use shine serum on dry hair. Just a little bit of it over the top layer is going to give that mirror effect that makes this look so special.

#46: Subtly Layered Soft-Wave Bob with That Airy Quality
What I like most about this haircut is that the layers are understated & they’re not like “LOOK AT ME, I’M LAYERED!” because over-layered hair is just awful. The mid-length bob is super easy and effortless because these layers are so light and airy. The light texture at the ends is a nice touch to keep it from looking too blunt and heavy down there which can happen with fine hair at this length. It’s very flattering for oval and heart face shapes and the wave pattern is loose enough to be low-maintenance. Regular trims are necessary because the magic of this cut is the shape and once it starts to grow out, it completely alters the look.

#47: Highlighted Soft-Wave Bob with the Sweetest Face-Framing Pieces
Let’s take a second to admire the wonderful face framing layers on this bob! They do such a great job of softening the overall look, and combined with highlights, they add brightness to the face without being too bold. (Sorry for the pun!) The length that falls just above the shoulders with those soft, wavy layers is super easy to manage and really versatile. I think it’s a great choice for someone in their 20s or 30s looking for something modern, while still appropriate for the office. The added waves also create visual weight and fullness which is ideal for medium to fine hair density. For upkeep, this style is pretty low maintenance. You may want to use a flat iron to set the waves, but otherwise, it’s an easy style to keep up.

#48: Warm Copper Waves with a Fringe That Actually Works with the Bob
I say “actually works” because it’s more complicated than one would think to style bangs with a wavy bob, and this is a great example of it being done RIGHT. The warm copper color ties it all together and the subtle fringe softens enough to blend with the waves (as opposed to fighting them). I love how copper on a wavy bob gives off such a cozy, autumnal energy. If your hair is medium to thick, the waves are going to hold their shape nicely without much effort, and finer hair can definitely achieve this look with a little product and a wand. It’s going to take regular trims to keep the fringe out of your eyes (probably every 3-4 weeks); but it will look intentional and be worth it!

#49: Choppy Waves with Baby Bangs for the Bold Among Us
Not everyone has the confidence to do this. Baby bangs are a big statement and if you feel called to it, then you are likely the person who can pull it off. Overall the bob has a really nice choppy editorial look and the waves just add to it. The combination of the short bangs and those mid-length waves adds an interesting contrast of playful and polished. A texture paste will do wonders for those defined choppy pieces as well as keeping the bangs in place throughout the day. You need to see a stylist who is good at cutting baby bangs because the margin for error is tiny. But when it’s right? Chef’s kiss.

#50: Textured Sun-Kissed Waves with Layers That Live Their Best Life
I take pride in the layers of a particular cut, and it’s great to see they are doing what they’re supposed to do, and I know this is one of those cuts. It also creates a good amount of volume for fine/medium hair types without the waves falling flat. It’s a delicate balance to strike but we achieved it. The sun-kissed highlights give the hair a fresh youthful glow. The health of the hair looks amazing, and the texturized finish adds a playful quality that makes someone want to reach out and mess it up. The medium length makes it easy to work with on a daily basis, and it’s suited best for oval and round face shapes. The waves will need a bit of maintenance with a styling tool, but once you have your routine down, it becomes autopilot.
