When I started my career, I thought the most interesting styles would always take the longest because they were the most dramatic. Attention getting colors, haircuts that literally make people cry and hair battles of long vs. short. But as I started to notice my clientele getting older, I learned to appreciate shorter styles more. Especially the more wispy or feathery ones. More often than not, we would end up going for a big chop.
The reasoning behind this style does not get bogged down by all the extra complexity that often comes with other styles. Short wispy styles allow hair to move in a way that’s not always possible with finer hair. A bit more volume than what is usually opted for is required for finer hair. One of my clients years ago, Barbara, had the most uninspiring hairstyle you can imagine: a chin-length, blunt bob she kept for fifteen years. Many women come in with photos of cuts and say “I want this but I don’t think my hair will do this,” but the reality is, most hair can do a version of this. For any newly retired, and want to make everything, including your hair routine simpler, this is a confident, quiet place to settle.
#12 A Tousled Blonde Shag with Beachy Movement
I like how the shag style looks very relaxed and natural. It looks as if she just went for a nice walk and the hair fell into place beautifully. With the hair color being blonde it looks very nice and natural with a sandy and wheat blend and some depth at the roots. Texturing the hair allows it to look nice and moving and not like a solid chunk of hair. I also like the pieces that are just above the jaw line and the some of the lower pieces that are wispy because they look nice and help to give the style a relaxed look. It looks nice for day 3 hair and also freshly washed hair. I also feel that this haircut looks great when the hair has some nice natural texture in it. Perfectly straight hair just won’t hold the separated look in the same way which will look bad.

A cooler shade will not pull focus in the same way. Interestingly enough, the amount of ear coverage does matter to a lot of women but goes under-discussed in the consultations. This style grows out well for about five weeks before guys need a clean-up, which is a better than most pixies.

I think these waves may need daily encouragement in the form of a curling defining cream on damp hair, then I recommend some scrunching to encourage them to look like this again.
