50 Fabulous Short Layered Haircuts That Make Thin Hair Look Fuller

I had to hold back a laugh when a client told me last month she had ‘given up’ on her thin hair as I have heard similar things before. Her problem actually had a straightforward solution. Thinning hair does not need more hair; it requires better structural layering. When done properly, a great layered haircut on thin hair works almost architecturally to redistribute the weight, allowing for more movement so the hair reflects the light, creating illusions of fullness. I have seen clients cry after a twenty minute haircut because they had never had a clean cut before and it was such a dramatic difference.

My favorite thing to observe from the industry as a whole is how thinner hair provides a softness and transparency that thicker hair simply cannot replicate. This makes certain hairstyles look even better. The key is knowing what works best, and certain styles such as bobs, pixie cuts, and variations between the two can be the answer. Every style has different aspects that compliment your hair texture, your facial structure, and how much time you’re willing to devote to your morning routine. I have a lot of favorites I have cut and lived with my clients that I will walk you through and tell you what I think about each style.

Textured Chestnut Bob with Soft Waves

#1: Textured Chestnut Bob with Soft Waves

I absolutely love this haircut! The warm chestnut tones create a lot of depth that make my hair appear thicker than it actually is. The waves look relaxed and the gentle look is something that attracts people, even the ones that don’t usually give compliments. The chin-length cut is perfect for highlighting my bone structure, and it doesn’t expose too much. The layers are soft enough that you don’t lose volume. You just re-direct the hair. Natural waves do soften after a few days and sea salt spray is a great alternative to give waves a fresh look without having to wash it, since it dries out my hair.

Charming Ash Blonde Pixie with Side Sweep

#2 Charming Ash Blonde Pixie with Side Sweep

Last spring, I recall giving a haircut to a woman who had never gone shorter than shoulder length before. I can still see the look on her face when I spun the chair around. It’s one of my best memories. The overshadowed blonde color looks sleek and modern. The side sweep also gets some direction so it doesn’t look too uniform. The best part about this cut on thin hair is that the layering creates some more texture at the top so the sides don’t get too wispy. It’s going to takes some time in the morning to get that sweep where you want it, but once it’s there, it should stay all day. Lightweight pomade is best for this look.

Multitonal Blonde Layered Bob with Dark Roots

#3: Multitonal Blonde Layered Bob with Dark Roots

The color technique used here is incredible. The dark roots are more than just maintenance; they create an illusion of the hair lifting from the scalp. That volume has been created before any brushes have been used. Blended blonde tones in the mid lengths add dimension to the hair as a single process blonde would read flat. While the face framing layers are designed to highlight the cheek bones, they are designed so that no hollowness is added to the look. Although it does require a bit of styling intent, achieving the desired look is easy with just a round brush and hair dryer. This look is also forgiving if you don’t want to style it.

Sleek Ash-Brown Bob with Feathered Bangs
Instagram: woong.moreon

#4: Sleek Ash-Brown Bob with Feathered Bangs

The feathered bangs look great! By shortening the bang area, it lessens your forehead size without creating a heavy or blocky look. The back of the bob is also nice and clean (with blunt cuts), and adds a consistency and crispness that I think compliments the softness the bangs bring. Those blunt ends will also benefit fine hair as it gives the appearance of more thickness at the ends. Your ash-brown tint should also be a nice and easy change, plus it’s low maintenance. The only thing I will say is that with hair this sleek, it will be obvious when you need to touch up your hair, and a flat iron will definitely be a part of your routine.

#5: Caramel Swirl Voluminous Curled Bob

The haircut is ideal if your hair is naturally wavy or curly. Layers are cut at particular angles, allowing curls to stack on each other which gives the hair natural fullness at the crown. The dark roots that melt into caramel also make your mid-length hair look thicker. The haircut is designed for natural texture; if your hair is completely straight, you’ll want to avoid fighting it every morning with a curling iron. If you have some waves or curls, then this haircut will make you feel like you’ve been doing your hair wrong your whole life.

#6: Subtle Golden Layers with Soft Front Framing

I appreciate this look for its beauty and tranquility. The layers are discreet, but you can actually see the difference in the movement of the hair. From the back, it would sway with every head turn and feels so light. The front pieces are not distracting, but frame the face nicely. The color is great. It is a warm gold without being brassy, and reflects light beautifully. I would offer this haircut to anyone who wants a polished look with almost no effort. It really doesn’t ask just clean hair, and some smoothing serum at the ends.

Playful Chestnut Bob with Soft Textured Fringe

#7: Playful Chestnut Bob with Soft Textured Fringe

It’s amazing what a difference bangs make to a style isn’t it? Without the bangs, this look is just a plain bob. But, add the bangs and it makes it so much more interesting. Bangs can sometimes look heavy, especially on fine hair. But these will be fine because this style has a lot of broken texture. Also, chestnut will add depth to the bangs, and the layers will show their shape with no styling. The angled style will highlight the jawline which is really flattering. Just be aware that you will be in for maintenance often. Every 5 to 6 weeks because as soon as the bangs are getting in your eyes, it will feel off balance.

Elegant Chocolate Stacked Layers

#8: Elegant Chocolate Stacked Layers

I love the back layers! They Graduated layers in the back of the cut provide phenomenal volume around the nape and the crown and make this cut so much more than basic. The front layers are longer and softer, which keeps the look feminine and allows for hair to be pulled back and tucked behind the ears quite easily. The chocolate brown color is even rich and gorgeous without any highlights! The extra chestnut pieces add a beautiful warm sun-kissed look. This cut is very flattering and low-maintenance; the length is perfect for any lifestyle as it hits just at the shoulders!

Refined Auburn Contour Cut for Fine Hair

#9: Refined Auburn Contour Cut for Fine Hair

I love the subtle asymmetry in this cut! It’s not obvious enough to be a statement cut, but just apparent enough to give it some character. I also really appreciate how this cut compliments the jawline. I think a really defined jawline looks great when it’s accentuated by a good haircut. The light auburn color is also a nice touch as it adds warmth and depth to the overall look. To really show off the structure of this cut, I think it just takes a few minutes with a round brush and blow dryer to really emphasize it in the front. But even on the days when you don’t do that, I think this cut still looks great.

Edgy Black Bob with Bold Green Undercut

#10: Edgy Black Bob with Bold Green Undercut

I understand that this isn’t for everybody, and that is what makes this really good. The green underneath the black layers is a lovely detail that shows when you move and is fun when the wind catches it. The two colours are actually really good for fine hair because of the contrast and the illusion of more volume. The nape cut is so nice and clean which brings the whole look together really well. Having multiple colours in your hair is a big commitment which means more frequent visits to the salon which is more maintenance. However, for those who get bored easily with more basic styles, this will be ideal.

Charming Chestnut Textured Bob with Soft Fringe

#11: Charming Chestnut Textured Bob with Soft Fringe

This is a cut that makes it look like you put in no effort, and that’s a good thing. The soft layers create a relaxed feel, and the soft bangs are eye framing without being too harsh. With fine hair, texture is super important as it gives that illusion of thickness without the heaviness. This style hits just above the shoulder which allows for it to be worn up or down as desired. I’d recommend keeping some texturizing spray handy to maintain that piece-y look, especially if you’re on day two or three hair.

Soft Brunette Crop with Curved Bangs and Subtle Disconnection
Instagram: maggie.cuts

#12: Soft Brunette Crop with Curved Bangs and Subtle Disconnection

This style has curved bangs that are softer than you would expect from a crop this short and that contrast is what makes it interesting. They curve across the forehead which makes the look really gentle. The subtle disconnection at the back keeps it modern without going full avant-style. For fine hair, the short layers on top create volume exactly where you need it. If you’ve never had layers this short, there may be a little adjustment period, but once you nail your method this will be one of the quickest styles to just get out the door with!

Dynamic Short Textured Pixie with Tapered Sides
Instagram: luizasouzacuts

#13: Dynamic Short Textured Pixie with Tapered Sides

The taper on the sides is designed to bring everything tight and close to the head at the temples. This makes the top texture appear even more voluminous by contrast. The very short layers at the crown have a lot of movement. On finer hair types, that movement can create the illusion of more hair. This is very low maintenance. Ideally, you’ll want to come in for a cleanup every four to five weeks because once the taper starts growing out, you’ll lose the contrast that makes the cut work.

Soft Silver Tousled Pixie with Sheer Bangs
Instagram: lucaspiex

#14: Soft Silver Tousled Pixie with Sheer Bangs

There’s definitely something alluring about silver tones on a messy pixie. The bangs are sheer, meaning this style doesn’t have a ton of hair hanging down and covering the face. For finer hair types, bangs that are see-through feel really light and airy. The tousled layers in the cut also add a ton of body, interest, and help the cut avoid that overly ‘done’ look. I find this style is particularly great on people with slimmer face shapes, as the close crop really draws out the best of the underlying bone structure. One thing to keep in mind is that silver tones can become brassy, so you may want to schedule some regular toning appointments every few weeks.

#15: Edgy Brunette Pixie with Textured Bangs

The bangs here feel different than the previous ones. It gives the whole cut a different energy, and feels more intentional and more put together. The layers at the crown are cut to lift. This is a technique I use all the time on fine hair as it provides height to the areas where the eye is drawn first. The smooth sides and the textured sides contrast each other nicely and keeps it modern. This cut works best on straight to wavy hair. If you have a lot of curl the shape will be different than what is shown here.

Rich Auburn Bob with Subtle Layers
Instagram: alexisaenriquezz

#16: Rich Auburn Bob with Subtle Layers

A cut doesn’t have to be dramatic to be effective and this is a great example of that. The subtle layers are enough to keep the ends from looking thin while also giving some internal movement to the bob. I find deep auburn so endlessly flattering as it warms the complexion and also makes the hair look denser and healthier. The edge graduation gives it shape without the bob looking helmet like, which is always the risk with bobs that have no layers. It’s classic in a timeless not a boring way.

Golden-Beige Layered Bob with Wispy Bangs
Instagram: jonasmarcsalon

#17: Golden-Beige Layered Bob with Wispy Bangs

This style has great wispy bangs! They are lightweight so they won’t bog down fine hair, but they give that perfect framing effect that changes the illusion of the entire face. The side part does give root volume that would otherwise take a blowout which is nice! The golden-beige is warm and natural, and will grow out nicely without line. Depending on the humidity, you may find your layers will lose some definition so I suggest keeping a light anti-humidity spray on hand.

Sleek Jet-Black Bob with Subtle Layering
Instagram: john_thewhitebox

#18: Sleek Jet-Black Bob with Subtle Layering

When it comes to combinations, jet black on a bob haircut seems quite cinematic. The color is so rich it creates its own sense of depth. That depth on fine hair works as highlights would on a lighter color. The layers go a little above the chin which is a length that pairs beautifully with the strong color. You’ll touch up your hair more frequently but the impact jet black will have will definitely be worth the maintenance.

Effortless Dark Chocolate Wave Cut
Instagram: halia.xo

#19: Effortless Dark Chocolate Wave Cut

This style is easy enough to wear, whether it’s coffee on a Sunday morning or dinner on a Friday night, and that versatility is just what you need from a haircut. Dark chocolate is a low maintenance color that will be great with texture and the waves are soft enough to feel relaxed and casual but strong enough to be defined. There are layers that are placed in specific areas to give more volume in the middle sections, which is typically where fine hair gets the flattest. All you need is a wave spray that is scrunched in damp hair to achieve your final look.

Softly Tapered Brunette Bob
Instagram: hairstorm.k

#20: Softly Tapered Brunette Bob

All this haircut’s got is integrity, and that’s what makes it stand out. The bob and tapers technique is spot on as it creates more volume where thin hair generally settles. It has a solid uniform deep brown color throughout which is beneficial here, because give the hair fullness and shine. This length is perfect for adding length to the overall face which is very flattering for oval and longer face shapes. The color will stay fresh looking due to the gloss treatment for more than six months. It will also be low maintenance as this style comes as easy as a cut that is styled.

#21: Platinum Smooth Graduated Bob

This is where the precision cutting stands out. The cut differentiates the length at the back and the front which creates a wedge of volume at the nape that’s really effective on thinner hair. The face-framing pieces elongate and slim which is particularly nice if you feel like your face is on the rounder side. Platinum is gorgeous but it’s a commitment with the initial lightening and the maintenance to keep it looking icy rather than yellow. And if you have any wave or curl in your natural texture, you’ll end up straightening this regularly to achieve the sleek finish you see here. But if that all sounds manageable to you, the result is undeniably polished.

#22: Sleek Chestnut Bob with Textured Ends

I love how the end textures are doing all the talking on this cut. Rather than a blunt end which can make fine hair look a little sparse at the bottom, the texturing creates a softer, broken edge which looks fuller and more intentional. The off-center part is one of those decisions that really changes the end result as it adds some effortless asymmetry to the hair drape and lifts the roots fuller on the heavier side. The chestnut shade is rich and very natural looking. Falling just above the shoulders is great for length as it is easy to manage and style in different directions depending on your mood.

Soft Beige Blonde Textured Tousle
Instagram: foilglosssalon

#23: Soft Beige Blonde Textured Tousle

Most people may not notice the hidden undercut, but it does some important work. Removing weight from underneath allows those longer top layers to sit up and out instead of lying flat. This completely changes the silhouette for thin hair. The touseled texture creates that effortless look like you just flicked your hair and walked out the door, which this haircut makes super easy to do. The beige-blonde color looks cute, but will require maintenance to stay within that tonal range, so that’s something to consider. Other than that, the actual day-to-day styling is as easy as it gets.

Vibrant Red Textured Pixie with Subtle Layers
Instagram: dannichauhanhair

#24: Vibrant Red Textured Pixie with Subtle Layers

A pixie cut with red coloring really makes the style stand out. It adds a bold touch without needing crazy shapes. This cut is perfectly layered to create some texture and volume at the top, and gives you an easy styling option. The bold, vibrant red color is sure to draw attention. One downside to this color is that bright red fades quickly, so you would need to come in for color refreshes regularly. For some, that may sound like a hassle, but semi-permanent dyes require less upkeep. If you are up for the maintenance, this cut definitely has tons of personality.

Chic Brunette Shag with Feathered Layers
Instagram: cutsbycookie

#25: Chic Brunette Shag with Feathered Layers

It’s great that shag hairstyles are coming back! The new take is shorter and neater. With fresh shag styles, the back of the hair features flying layered cuts that give more volume and movement to your hair. This effect won’t be the same if your hair is longer. The hair is cut and slightly styled asymmetric. This prevents the haircut from looking too polished. She makes the cut more asymmetric to embrace the charm of the shag. When dealing with fine hair, it’s important to be precise while cutting it. With thin hair, sloppy layers can go from working chic and messy to looking unintentional and just plain messy. The only thing you need for styling is a lightweight cream that will give that disheveled look.

#26: Vibrant Copper Textured Bob

I love the color copper for many reasons. One is that it is such a unique color that can fit anyone. For example, when people have fine hair, the color makes the hair look denser because of the way the color reflects light. The bob hairstyle looks clean and polished which is a nice finished touch. I think a bob haircut looks best with more hair so it doesn’t draw attention to sparse areas. The length of the hair is very flexible, the shape is very nice, and the color is very lively so you can wear many different outfits with the hairstyle. It is very spunky and fun. The only downside is that because of the way the color shifts and changes with washing, you will need to do touch ups fairly often.

Modern Espresso Tapered Pixie Cut
Instagram: auraavedasalon

#27: Modern Espresso Tapered Pixie Cut

The espresso brown here is rich and dark enough to almost seem like its own dimension, and that’s one reason I tend toward deeper shades for clients with finer hair. The taper is nice and clean, and the top is just chopped enough to add texture without looking too sparse. This is the sort of cut that takes five minutes, it might take you less than that in the morning, and still looks purposeful. You’ll have to stay on schedule with regular trims though; for this style they should be about every 4 weeks since the taper grows out quickly and will lose that clean look. It truly is such a small cost for something that easy to maintain.

Chic Asymmetrical Brunette Layered Cut

#28 Chic Asymmetrical Brunette Layered Cut

I usually apply this method to fine, straight types of hair, as it adds movement and visual interest which is often absent in a blunt cut. The texture of the layers creates fullness without the bulk which is ideal for achieving volume without the extra weight. The asymmetry will require a bit of maintenance, as the back will be shorter than the front. If you wait too long between appointments the layers will begin to merge together. For added lift at the roots, a small amount of mousse is helpful prior to drying.

Softly Tapered Blonde Layered Bob

#29 Softly Tapered Blonde Layered Bob

This haircut looks effortless and meets/ exceeds expectations. The tapering around the face is soft enough to highlight the cheekbones and not make the sides look thin. The short layers at the top give movement to the hair and make fine hair look alive. The blonde is also soft and natural, not overly done. I would recommend this to anyone wanting something youthful, easy, but still like a real haircut and not just grown out hair that looks a little ok.

Deep Chocolate Textured Waves with Soft Undercut

#30 Deep Chocolate Textured Waves with Soft Undercut

The undercut is nice and subtle, and what lets the top layers bounce and move like that is the removed weight underneath layers. For thin hair this is the difference between flat and full. The deep chocolate color is warm and grounding. The waves are just enough textured for it to look styled, but not stiff. You’ll want a texturizing cream to define those waves especially on second or third day hair. The good news is the cut does most of the work for you.

Effortlessly Chic Short Layered Cut for Thinning Hair

#31 Effortlessly Chic Short Layered Cut for Thinning Hair

What I notice the most is the asymmetrical fringe which adds to the overall shape. I love how it draws the eye diagonally across the face, creating some interest and movement before you reach the layers. The layers are light, strategic, and just the right amount for hair that is thinning as opposed to just fine. There is a difference in approach, and this cut gets it. The shape relies on precision so you will want to stay on top of your trims, but in between appointments, it is pretty low maintenance.

Stylish Salt-and-Pepper Shag with Textured Bangs

#32 Stylish Salt-and-Pepper Shag with Textured Bangs

One of my favorite transformations was with a client who had colored her hair gray for 20 years. She decided to fully embrace her look and rock her shaggy hairstyle. The shag plus textured bangs all look intentional as opposed to a haphazard approach. The layering on top gives a nice volume boost to the fine hair and the bangs offer the softening without hiding. If your texture is a bit on the curlier side, you may have to work a bit more for that look, while for straighter or wavier textures it’s just low maintenance. The shaggy look helps you embrace your gray hair while looking amazing.

Chic Brunette Layered Bob With Subtle Waves

#33 Chic Brunette Layered Bob With Subtle Waves

I love how the layers are shorter at the back and longer at the front. The great thing about this is that when I shake my head, I can feel the volume, and that’s always my personal test to see if the cut is volumizing. The gentle waves add to the illusion and look great without needing to be perfect. This is the kind of hair that you can see a lot of care has gone into it. Even if the waves are a bit old and have fallen, it still looks amazing. It creates a nice framing effect for oval and heart shaped faces. The only downside to this is that you can’t tie it back into a ponytail. If the length is enough to stop you from putting your hair up, then this cut is for you.

Charming Light Brown Bob with Subtle Highlights

#34 Charming Light Brown Bob with Subtle Highlights

These highlights look amazing. One might think there is sun catching the hair. This is how highlights for fine hair should look. Contrasting strands that are too light too dark can make the hair look thinner by showing the gaps. This approach creates fullness without the concern of showing gaps. Mid-length gives you options. You can leave it as is, take some sections out, or even do some waves or pin it back. This length is nice when you’re not sure how much you want to commit to one look. The light brown base is easy to maintain and the highlights are stretched to every 3 months or so before they need a refresh.

Vibrant Copper Textured Pixie with Flipped Layers

#35 Vibrant Copper Textured Pixie with Flipped Layers

The little flipped ends are such a fun feature! They elevate the whole shape, and with fine hair, a pixie with flat-lying layers just won’t give the fullness that the volume is really needed. The copper shade is warm and bright, and yes, staying this vivid will be a lot of maintenance, but the pay off for brightness and fun is real. I’ve seen copper pixies get more compliments per square inch than just about any other combo I cut. The fullness at the crown is due to layering that is specially done for thin hair, not the same one you’d do for someone with thick hair, so make sure your stylist is in the same book.

Charming Chestnut Pixie with Textured Waves

#36 Charming Chestnut Pixie with Textured Waves

The tousled pixie waves create nice movement and the warm chestnut color is rich enough for visual depth. This cut has life and volume with the textured layers and added volume at the top. The face framing taper suits most people with no customization. This style needs something with light hold and texture because without it, the waves will become flatter as the day goes on. That is a small price to pay for a style this delightful.

Dark Chocolate Textured Pixie with Volume

#37 Dark Chocolate Textured Pixie with Volume

These choppy layers add the perfect amount of chaos to create movement and body but not enough for fine hair to look stringy. That’s an easy line to cross when layering thin hair, but this cut stays right on the edge. The dark chocolate color adds weight and richness to the overall look, and the tousled finish is I just woke up this good looking. For days when you want a bit of extra lift, a root volumizing powder will boost it even more, but the rest of the time you can just go.

Chic Cinnamon Swirl Layered Bob

#38 Chic Cinnamon Swirl Layered Bob

I think what stands out the most to me is the color, and the warmth and spice it has swirled with colors that seem to change with different lighting. With fine hair, the colors help to create an illusion of more density. I like the almost asymmetrical lines, they add interest without it being too statement-y. The layers are really placed to flatter, not to show off. With all that color and shape, it is not low maintenance, but the upkeep is worth it. The result is always pretty.

Chic Silver Layered Bob with Bangs

#39 Chic Silver Layered Bob with Bangs

Graduated cuts from here with shorter layers on top that blend into longer ones underneath are one of the most effective ways to make fine hair look thicker. It’s an old trick, but when done correctly, and it is in this case, it works every time. The wispy bangs are light enough so they don’t weigh down fine hair types and they frame the eyes wonderfully. I find silver as a color choice really appealing, especially considering the added sophistication. However, it will require regular toning and it will need to be shaped like this to stay sharp. If you are ready to invest in upkeep, this is a cut that will make you look polished every single day.

Soft Golden Tousled Layered Cut for Fine Hair

#40 Soft Golden Tousled Layered Cut for Fine Hair

The soft golden tones layer beautifully with the gentle tousle, soft layers and fine hair. This is because the method focuses on the hair’s natural texture. For thicker hair, a more defined method is most appropriate. For finer hair, this method achieves movement and lightness. The golden blonde tone adds a youthful brightness without looking overpowering. This is the type of haircut I would recommend to someone who has had the same style for quite some time and wants something new without completely changing their look. It is simply a lighter and more refreshing version.

Blonde Tousled Layered Bob with Wispy Bangs

#41 Blonde Tousled Layered Bob with Wispy Bangs

The dimensional blonde works because of the color variations. It creates the illusion of density before we even consider the cut layers. Once layers are added, they provide movement and lift through the mid-lengths, making finer textures look super voluminous. The addition of the wispy bangs adds a lovely feathered touch that I adore, framing the face beautifully. With the right adjustments to the bang length and density, this style can be versatile for a variety of face shapes, but it is most flattering for oval to heart shaped faces. It is very low maintenance and also holds a curl really well, if you want a more dressed up look.

Silver Sleek Layered Bob with Glasses

#42 Silver Sleek Layered Bob with Glasses

A haircut that works well with your glasses and doesn’t stand out more than the glasses is something I appreciate. This one does that. The face framing layers will help focus attention toward the eyes, which is ideal for eyeglass frames. The silver color of the hair is classy and shows intention, and the evenness and consistency of her hair health makes it look anything but colorless. On fine hair, the subtle layering creates visual fullness without needing too much styling, yet will likely need to be smoothed out to keep that sleek look. Thus, a flat iron and precise blow-dry will be required to maintain that polished look which is suitable for any occasion.

Silver Chic Layered Bob with Volume

#43 Silver Chic Layered Bob with Volume

Compared to the previous silver bob, the layers are much more obvious. Added volume is not as understated either. In particular, those layers give the illusion of more thickness to fine hair, and the strategically angled layers around the face really lift and flatter the cheekbones. My silver layered bob is one of my favourite styles, as the light with varying lengths offers contrast and depth, and the layers are much more obvious compared to the previous silver bob. The volume is more understated as well. The mid-length is practical and versatile; it’s long enough to tuck behind the ears or pin back and short enough to look intentional. If you’ve made your peace with the maintenance, silver requires a significant commitment, but it is a stunning option.

Dynamic Tousled Blonde Pixie with Lowlights

#44 Dynamic Tousled Blonde Pixie with Lowlights

What sets this apart from a standard blonde pixie is the use of lowlights. These provide a shadow and depth effect that makes the hair appear more 3D instead of looking flat. That added depth is especially important for finer hair. The tousled look offers texture and movement, and the layers are meant to prevent the shape from sticking flat against the head. Given how little actual styling is required, this is a great choice for someone with a busy lifestyle. I do think you’ll need to run some texturizing paste through it every day to keep that tousled look. Without product, it might settle into something way too smooth and lose the energy that makes it special.

Platinum Blonde Textured Pixie with Tapered Sides

#45 Platinum Blonde Textured Pixie with Tapered Sides

The fullness at the crown of the head provides a spectacular contrast with the neater tapered sides. The volume at the top grabs attention and is a compliment to the look when the hair is fine and straight. The platinum is beautiful but consider how much getting and maintaining it will cost time and money. The darker roots are clever as they reduce maintenance and give a shadow at the scalp which makes the light ends look as if they are lifting. It is very flattering for oval and heart-shaped faces. A volumizing mousse worked through damp hair before drying will add the lift you need and then finish it off with a texturizing spray.

Modern Chestnut Graduated Bob

#46 Modern Chestnut Graduated Bob

The back graduation is pronounced enough to add volume. This is one of those things that alters how a cut feels as opposed to how it looks in real life and in photos. In person, the nape fullness gives the whole shape a more substantial feel. As it lengthens towards the face, those pieces soften everything and give you something to style, which is great! The warm highlights blend well, so the grow-out will be forgiving. Then, all this cut will ask of you is a little bit of product to maintain that lift at the back. If you want something that looks thought-out without too much effort, this is a good option.

Elegant Soft Bronde Layered Bob

#47 Elegant Soft Bronde Layered Bob

Bronde is an amazing color for fine hair. It sits nicely in between blonde and brown, and because of this it camouflages with variations in natural hair color. Natural color variation helps create an illusion of fullness. The layers here are cut for movement instead of volume, so with your movement, the hair gives a lot of life to the hairstyle. The length and the way the layers sit on a rounder face shape give a slimming effect, and I’ve seen clients so happy with that. The cut is meant to be low-maintenance, but the color requires regular appointments to keep it looking intentional and fresh. The color does its best work when it’s fresh, so I recommend keeping your appointments to maintain the tonal blend.

Sleek Espresso Tousled Pixie Cut

#48 Sleek Espresso Tousled Pixie Cut

I love how effortless this looks and it definitely shows. It looks like a natural tousled look and the color is perfect. The layers have a volumizing effect that looks relaxed and not contrived. It frames the face nicely without making it look busy and the soft wave through the top makes it playful and not too corporate. Most mornings it’s a wash and go, though the only non-negotiable is regular trims. A pixie cut is overdue. A pixie cut looks fundamentally different than a pixie that is freshly cut.

Caramel-Brown Feathered Layered Bob

#49 Caramel-Brown Feathered Layered Bob

The style I like best is an untextured bob cut with feathered layers. It gives the hair style more airiness, which I believe is perfect for the women who want a more modern and refreshing look, without anything changing too drastically. Most skin tones can pull of a caramel brown shade, and for the feathering, it keeps the ends soft enough layer by layer so that they can have the look of added density without the ends looking choppy. For finer textures, that soft look is super important because the heavy handed look achieves the opposite. This hairstyle balances it all. In natural daylight, the warm tonal glow is stunning, and the overall shape of the style is so easy to maintain day to day, although you will want to keep your ends defined from routine shaping.

Vibrant Chestnut Textured Bob with Side Swept Bangs

#50 Vibrant Chestnut Textured Bob with Side Swept Bangs

What a great addition to a classic bob! The side-swept bangs, along with the angled cut, bring some added interest to the look. The bangs also have an eye-drawing effect which is flattering on most people. Plus, with the layers being cut above the bangs, they really blend nicely. The chestnut color is also vibrant and fashionable, without being high-maintenance. Just a heads up, this will require frequent trims to keep the layers looking fresh. Maintenance on this style is super easy- just a light styling cream to keep the texture looking great, and a quick swipe of your fingers should do the trick!
