About six or seven years ago, I had a woman sit down in my chair and say she hadn’t changed her hair in years. When I asked her age, she said she didn’t want to say, but she was 43. I remember thinking she was so young to be so stuck with her one-length long hair that was doing her no favors. I could tell she was scared to make a change. I remember talking to her for a long time, and she was one of my favorite clients because I took off eight inches and gave her a stunning bob with layers. She cried during the reveal, but not because she didn’t like it. In fact, she looked more like herself after that haircut. She looked like the woman she had been holding herself back from being for so long.
I’ve heard people say that shorter hair after 40 makes you look younger or some other negative comment about the haircut being age appropriate. Wash it, put a tiny bit of product in, mess it up with your hands, and walk out the door. That’s the vibe. Curls are super easy to maintain, and if you have curly natural hair then all you need to do is use some curl cream and you are good to go! I know this isn’t for everyone, but if it is calling to you, just go for it!
#30 Wavy Bob with Soft Bangs
So much thought and detail has clearly gone into this cut, and because of that, it’s really lovely. The waves sit at chin length, and instead of adding bulk, they add body. The bangs are soft and framing everything right at the forehead, so gently. If you have waves in your hair already this cut boosts what you have instead of working against it. If your hair is pretty straight then you might have to use some sea salt spray and a wand to create some curls, but it won’t be a very involved process. A lot of people want to look relaxed and put together and that’s what this style achieves.

Shorter hairstyles can be really scary since people can be attached to their curls. But check this out. The side and back curls are cut shorter so they look more organized and intentional, while the curls in the back can still be really voluminous. With the right lighting, the curls can look really 3D. This look is perfect for people who are so over straightening their hair because this cut is made for showing your natural texture. You don’t need to do much styling. A good leave-in conditioner and light gel will do the trick.

This hairstyle is awesome! I love the way it looks with silver hair. The cut is amazing! The top texture looks so breathable, and the bangs are nice and wispy which makes the style feel more friendly. It looks so modern and it’s such a nice shape! The silver hair color looks great, but it can require a good amount of maintenance. You’ll want to either get your hair toned to avoid brassiness, or you can let it grow out to your natural grey. Also, to keep the shape of the haircut, you should get a trim about every 5-6 weeks. It’s great that daily styling will take no time at all!

I think this is pretty similar to the last one, but it has a little texture and is a little more playful. The brighter and more scattered flecks make this cut look a bit more ethereal. And the cut looks like it has more movement. This is a good transitional cut if you’re going grey. And if you want to blend instead of a hard switch, the highlights are good because they pull your eye from the natural colour to where you’re going. It’s low maintenance because you don’t spend a lot of time styling, but you will have to keep up with the colour every few weeks to avoid it looking intentionally grown out.

I like the height this gives. It makes everything look taller. The way the sides taper keeps everything neat and clean and doesn’t compete with those lovely curls. I think with the right natural curl pattern, this is one of those styles that self-styles, which is perfect. You might want to try a light mousse so that curl definition is really good, without it being heavy. The sides will need more maintenance than the top every three weeks, but the maintenance is worth it for the overall look especially since it’s so good.

If you like the look of a sleek blow-out, you will love this, but I also appreciate that it looks nice air-dried with some product. The combination of very structured and very free is also lovely.

I am being honest, not everyone will like this, but if you like to push the limits a bit this is definitely the place to be. The drama with the height on top is sure to turn heads, and the tapering on the sides makes it feel less over-the-top or costume-like. And the long section has a really nice wave that softens the overall look and becomes more editorial. Some volumizing product will also be required for the top to get that hold and lift, and the sides get a bit messy and will need maintenance to keep it sharp. I love seeing women energized with a cut like this because it feels more empowering to be a bit bold, and I will always support that.

I got another silver pixie and I don’t regret it! They are stunning when done right, and this one has a bit more length in the layers which gives a softer feel compared to more defined crops, and the texture is playful without crossing into messy territory. I think the silver works especially well here because the cut is so refined. It keeps everything looking polished and intentional. I would love a glossy treatment on this to really amp up the shine and make that silver pop. I can’t say this enough, trims are non-negotiable with pixies, but the daily effort is so minimal that it balances out.

This haircut looks nice and clean and also really neat and approachable. The gentle waves are above the jaw line and the subtle layering means the hair will not be too heavy or round. I think this length is very complimentary because it shows the neck and jaw which longer hair covers. If your curls are prone to fluffing, an anti-frizz serum will do the job but other than that, this haircut is a wash and go haircut, which is really nice.

The silver highlights are blended well enough to style your hair to look naturally beautiful! The chin-length cut is just right with enough layers to create movement and not too many to look out of control. It is a nice balanced style. I do want to point out that this style does ask a little more of you than others. You will need a blow dryer to purposely style it instead of just allowing your hair to dry naturally, but it only takes about ten minutes. The look will be really nice and put together! This style will work for basically any occasion.

This haircut is seriously awesome. I hope that doesn’t sound sarcastic, because I am being sincere. The layers give the top a lift while keeping the sides flatter. If you are really going to be dedicated to the upkeep, it is a gorgeous option. But If you really do not want to commit to going to the salon regularly, we can leave this one behind and it’ll be perfectly okay!
