25 Gorgeous Pompadour Pixie Cuts That’ll Make You Glow

The first time I gave a pompadour pixie style haircut, it was on someone who did not expect to love it at all. She came in wanting a “short bob, maybe.” After discussing the cut and looking at pictures, the pompadour pixie really caught her eyes. She looked like a whole different person when she walked out. And not because the cut changed her, but because it matched something within her. That’s what this cut does when it’s done right.

In my opinion, the versatility of the pompadour pixie is what makes this haircut interesting. Each style feels like a completely different look whether it is worn curly, textured, and sleek, or even if it is silver with an undercut or asymmetrical. It is not a one note haircut but it is also not for everyone. Some styles will frustrate you if you don’t like to think about hair in the morning. The higher styles will require effort while the colored ones will require more dedication. That said, when one of these haircuts is done on the right person, it’s one of my favorites to do. I believe the 25 styles in the following pictures are worth looking at.

Elegant Textured Pompadour Pixie with Subtle Movement

#1: Soft Textured Pompadour Pixie with Easy Movement

The uniqueness of this style comes from appearing more complicated than it actually is. The crown allows you to add length, while the extra texture allows for movement and avoids stiffness. If you have finer hair this is a good choice because the layers give the illusion of more hair without the extra bulk. A quick spritz of texturizing spray and you’re good to go!

Chic Curly Pixie with Soft Layers

#2 Curly Pixie with Soft Layered Definition

If you have curls, this cut is going to work with you, not against you, which is not always the case with shorter styles. The designed layers allow each individual curl to settle without stacking on top of each other. This allows for a beautiful, bouncy, open look. I would say this is best for medium to thick hair since you need some density to support the shape. It will grow out quicker than you’d expect, so plan to come in more often than you would for a longer style.

Textured Pompadour Pixie with Highlights

#3 Highlighted Pompadour Pixie with Tousled Lift

Highlights literally do a lot of the lifting. They split the hair’s surface so that even if the top is styled up, it doesn’t looks like one solid block. If you have finer hair and want volume without it looking like you tried a trick worth knowing. The difference between the cropped sides and the fuller top is clean but not too full. You’ll want a volumizing powder to keep that lift.

Stylish Textured Pixie with Soft Volume

#4 Layered Textured Pixie with Gentle Volume

This choice is among the most underrated on this collection, and I mean this in the best possible way. The volume gets close to the head, and the layers are short and soft. It’s calm and relaxed without veering into sloppiness. It works for someone who wants to look clean cut but would prefer her hair not to be the centerpiece of the outfit. It is best on fine hair that has a little bit of density. The shape does need to be maintained every five weeks or so. Other wise it begins to lose its purpose.

Textured Gray Pixie with Edgy Layers

#5 Choppy Gray Pixie with Edgy Texture

I like how the gray adds some attitude to what would otherwise be a pretty simple textured pixie. The top choppy layers create a rugged appearance, which is awesome in a way that looks intentional instead of messy. This look really suits an individual who is going gray naturally and wants to embrace it, or someone who is prepared to shift to something more cool-toned. Once the cut is right, the maintenance really isn’t too involved. A little bit of matte paste to finish the separation is all it takes.

Chic Curly Pompadour Pixie with Subtle Highlights

#6 Curly Pompadour Pixie with Warm Highlights

Your curls and highlights give a nice clean dimension to the style. I especially noticed how you created height in the front. It’s often more difficult than you would think to achieve this with curly hair — because curls have a tendency to spring out instead of up. Great job to the stylist! At home, a lightweight curl cream will work wonders to maintain definition without weighing your curls down. If you want a personality haircut that is more on the wash and go side of things, this is a great option.

Modern Pompadour Pixie with Soft Volume

#7 Polished Pompadour Pixie with Elegant Finish

Among the pompadour pixies in this collection, this one is the most refined example, and if I’m honest, this will not be for everyone. This will take daily effort on your part. The volume is designed and structured, the tips are tapered, and there’s a sophisticated vibe that a finger tousle will not get. A blow dry and round brush will be needed most days. However, if you like to style your hair daily and enjoy that process, this is the ideal option as it will easily carry you from the office to evening plans.

Modern Textured Pixie with Playful Volume

#8 Tousled Textured Pixie with Natural Lift

I recommend this style for people who want to keep the hair short, but don’t want to look too done-up. The looseness of the style and the ‘just ran my hands through it’ look is intentional. This cut is well thought out, and a good amount of movement comes from the layers. A little bit of product is all that is needed. This cut is one of those styles that is appealing for the fact that it can be photographed a different way each time.

Modern Textured Pixie with Soft Lavender Tones

#9 Lavender Textured Pixie with Cropped Sides

Lavender is a beautiful hair color that requires more upkeep than other fashion shades. If your hair is lighter in color, be ready to make frequent salon trips. If you love your hair and get frequent trim and color touch ups, it will be beautiful and worth it! The cut is clean and precise, with just enough hair on top to style it in a textured and directional way. Especially good for rounder faces, as the added height certainly draws the eye up. Mind the maintenance so you don’t fall in love with the color but end up disappointed.

Textured Pompadour Pixie with Soft Volume

#10 Bouncy Pompadour Pixie with Lifted Crown

The first thing that comes into my mind whenever I think of this cut is envisioning someone who wants to have more volume with finer hair. The layers in the crown area are cut to provide lift, while the shorter layers on the sides allow for some structure so that the hair doesn’t collapse by noon. All that’s needed is a quick blow dry on the roots and some volumising mousse, of course. Because the proportions are very specific, it will require more frequent trims than a lot of the other cuts from here, but to be honest, the styling is very quick.

Stylish Asymmetrical Pompadour Pixie with Soft Gray Highlights

#11 Asymmetrical Silver Pompadour Pixie

Little asymmetries can make a difference in hairstyles. For instance, with pompadour pixies, they help keep the cut from looking too uniform, which is really important since the risk of having an over-even cut is very high. The silver-gray highlights create a softening effect by framing the face and with the structured shape, it won’t feel hard. The volume at the crown being proportionately offset is important for how well this works, especially considering the neck length. To finish the look, a tiny bit of product at the roots will help create some lift and you’re all set.

Chic Silver Pompadour Pixie with Edgy Lift

#12 Silver Pompadour Pixie with Bold Height

one of the more dramatic looks, and I appreciate the lack of subtlety. The height is real, the silver is serious, & the undercut keeps everything streamlined so the top can do its thing. If you have fine hair, this shape is achievable with the right styling, just get a good root lifting spray & be patient with the blow dryer. The balayage through the silver adds depth that keeps it from looking flat. I’d say this cut screams a certain someone & she usually already knows who.

Stylish Textured Gray Pompadour Pixie

#13 Gray Textured Pompadour with Modern Silhouette

I think I see the gray modern edge you are referring to and agree. What is important is that it is not trendy. The sides are clean, the top has some height and texture, and I have done versions of this on women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. It always looks different but never looks wrong. Very few cuts truly span generations, but this is one of them. The cut is easy to style. If you can use a blow dryer, you will be more than capable of styling this cut.

Textured Pompadour Pixie with Lively Volume

#14 Voluminous Tousled Pompadour Pixie

It is interesting to see how different parts come together to make it look lively instead of just one individual styling technique. The finish looks light and energised, and just the right amount of crown height has been used to keep the look balanced and avoid ‘trying-too-hard’ territory. Considering that the ease of the look increases the more unobstructed the hair is from a natural wave, this style is sure to add enjoyment. Not every haircut has to be more serious than this.

Textured Pompadour Pixie with Soft Curls

#15 Curly Pompadour Pixie with Side Contrast

I really like the contrast of the longer curls and the short sides. The inherent contrast means it looks good from all angles, not just the front. Just know that if your curls are a little wilder, the form will depend on the curls being tamed (or working with them). A lightweight mousse will keep them in place without flattening anything. When the cut is good, it really stands out.

Dynamic Short Curly Pixie with Bold Undercut

#16 Short Curly Pixie with Bold Undercut

The undercut isn’t just about looking edgy. It takes weight off the sides so the curls on top have room to move and be free. This is a technical decision as well as a style one. The warm auburn tones soften everything and keep the cut from feeling too harsh. I will say that the undercut is the most high maintenance part since it grows in quickly and starts to lose its clean line in a few weeks. If you are okay with that then this is a bold cut with lots of character.

Stylish Pompadour Pixie with Edgy Undercut

#17 Structured Pompadour Pixie with Clean Undercut

This variation brings the Pompadour Pixie up a step. There is more of an architectural, clean quality in this version. A lot of intention was placed in the up volume and it has a very graphic quality overall. In my opinion, this style is best suited for straighter hair types, as that is where the more defined lines will come through. If your hair is significantly more textured or has more natural movement, then you may find that achieving this look will be a struggle, and that is less than ideal, especially when there are more styles on this list that will work with your hair texture instead of against it.

Textured Pompadour Pixie with Playful Volume

#18 Playful Pompadour Pixie with Lifted Crown

Great job on creating the illusion of fuller and thicker hair by elevating and styling the hair at the crown. Also nice job on cutting softer layers around the face, as it will help the style not feel too top heavy. This really exemplifies the case where cutting technique overshadows styling technique, and of course it’s best to trust someone who understands how to create that internal structure to the cut. Once the cutting is done, your morning routine will be so easy, like as simple as it can be.

Chic Short Pompadour Pixie with Volume

#19 Short Pompadour Pixie with Polished Texture

Here is an accurate portrayal of this cut. The texture is smooth and the volume is there, but not overdone, and all the other proportions are ideal. This is the type of haircut where people will say you look great, but won’t be able to describe what has changed. That is usually the best compliment to receive for a haircut. A light flexible hold cream will keep everything in place, but won’t make the hair feel crunchy or coated.

Modern Textured Pompadour Pixie with Soft Volume

#20 Airy Textured Pompadour Pixie with Soft Wave

It might be the lightness of the cut, but I feel like there’s so much air in this hairstyle? I think the way the $^ styling looks separated enough to see through the layers $^ creates softness that a lot of pompadour pixies just don’t have. The little wave at the top adds some movement so it doesn’t look too flat, and it doesn’t take a ton of effort, like no curling iron or anything like that. If you have straight hair, but with a little bit of a bend, this cut is going to work really well for you basically like as soon as you get out of the shower and do almost no work to it.

Modern Textured Pompadour Pixie with Defined Curls

#21 Defined Curly Pompadour Pixie with Structured Shape

What makes this style polished is that the curls are defined and intentional, rather than random. With curly hair, the structure of the pompadour shape is enhanced because the curls fill the shape naturally. This is one of those rare instances where the hair type and the cut are genuinely complementary, as opposed to one having to work around the other. You will need product to keep the curls defined throughout the day, but the shape of the cut is forgiving enough that even second day hair can remain in that good looking shape.

Chic Short Textured Pompadour Pixie with Edgy Volume

#22 Edgy Short Pompadour Pixie with Tousled Volume

I like the messy style because it shows personality. The hair is a bit messy, in a good way, and the gray tones are a nice modern touch. I did like this type of cut because it looks a bit more put together. If you like your hair neat and polished, I would skip this one. You would look like you are trying to tame it and it would just be a lot of frustration.

Chic Textured Pompadour Pixie with Soft Volume

#23 Textured Pompadour Pixie with Gentle Wave

An option for those wanting the pompadour pixie silhouette without the full volume, or full edge is this one. The wave on top adds interest but is not attention grabbing. The shorter sides help maintain the proportionally clean look. This cut works especially well with fine hair, as it is designed to create the illusion of fullness as opposed to actually needing to be dense. This is a cut that is easy to live with, which is something I definitely don’t say about each iteration of this style.

Chic Textured Pixie with Soft Waves

#24 Wavy Textured Pixie with Soft Pompadour Shape

The gentle waves creates an illusion for this cut and presents itself as an extreme haircut, and more of a hairstyle that is effortless and easy. The face framing layers and soft and pretty, and ‘puff’ at the top is more of a whisper than a shout. All it takes is a little styling cream in damp hair. I would definetly suggest this to someone who is thinking of going for a big chop as it is short, but not too short.

Elegant Silver Pompadour Pixie with Soft Volume

#25 Silver Pompadour Pixie with Tapered Elegance

An example of how refined this haircut can look when the detail is put in. The silver is bright, the taper is sharp and the top is just right in volume to give it that signature lift. It is classy and elegant without being over the top. I want to clarify that this level of brightness and smoothness in the silver is real commitment to upkeep on the color side. This means toning appointments and purple shampoo at home to avoid yellowing. But if you are willing to do the work, the end result is gorgeous.
