If the color didn’t appear blue enough, I would overlay it with a vivid shade mixed with a white conditioner as a quick glaze. (Not a blue with underlying green pigments like teals or turquoise, but I would opt for a blue with a purple background like Nightfall from Pulp Riot). My advice to anyone contemplating this color, pastel blue hair, is to keep budget, maintenance, and attention in mind.

They are blooming in soft blue! The delicate waves go well with the soft pastel blue hue. The long wispy bangs add a very wild touch.

My canvas originally had vibrant purple, navy, and teal balayage. Still, to achieve the colors I was first inspired by, I used the safest products to deal with any fashion colors. I weaved thin sections and painted accordingly (avoiding the natural roots) with 5 vol & 10 vol. This was a meticulous process.
#7: Soft Purplish Blue Short Bob
A short bob is an excellent option for fine hair. You can elevate it with a soft, purplish blue tint! Short hair always gives fine hair a fuller appearance. Unless you’re already very blonde, achieving this color requires complete bleaching. This ensures you achieve the most accurate shade.

The waves of the sea inspire this hue. As you can see, her hair features multiple shades of blue – it starts as a deep ocean blue at the roots, blending into a soft pastel blue, and the tips are light teal that I created to mimic the appearance of ocean spray. What I appreciate about this color is the vibrant dynamic of ocean tones it offers. I crafted this color with Oway (Organic Way) color. Oway color pastel blue dye is ammonia-free and enriched with biodynamic organic ingredients.
Any hair type or face shape can embrace this shade, but I advise this primarily for those who can maintain it. Pastel colors can easily fade. After you achieve pastel colors, maintenance is essential: you’ll need to use high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and products for your hair while limiting your washing frequency. I suggest washing 2-3 times a week, which means you’ll be using several products at home to keep this color vibrant.

It challenged my patience and technique but enabled me to create a flawless look for my client that was both appropriate and lively!

My favorite thing about this look is the grey-blue pastel and soft waves accompanying it. I always like to give a name to the tones/colors I create. I’d describe this color as slate blue. Because her hair is highlighted, styling it with a soft wave allows for showing dimension and depth. I always recommend to someone desiring a semi-permanent fantasy color to be prepared for the upkeep. This means investing in color-safe hair products.
This also means changing your hair routine. Be prepared to wash your hair much less. I recommend once a week but every four days at maximum. Most importantly, the hair must be washed in cold water; otherwise, that smoky blue hair color we invested time and money into will wash down the blue tips and down the drain. Also, keep in mind this will fade, so have fun with it! Allow yourself and the stylist creative freedom – it’s just hair.
