25 Youthful Neck-Length Bob Haircuts with Bangs for Ladies In Their 50s

Going back to a neck-length bob cut is always a smart choice! The bob is a classic look that will suit ***** women in their 50s wishing to make a change without going too extreme. One of my clients from last year had grown her hair for almost a decade! She believed getting a haircut was about giving up, but little did she know, when she finally got the bob with bangs cut, she cried, and this wasn’t a shocked cry, but a happy cry, because she felt she finally looked like her true self again.

What I particularly appreciate with neck-length cuts is that they sit right in that sweet spot where they are long enough to have options (like being able to tuck it behind your ears, or curl it) but short enough to not be a hassle. If you let it air dry, it will still look like you made an effort. Bangs are a great addition.

They help to draw the attention to your face and actually help to compliment the resting face. So, I have put together a set of 25 bob cut images to show you and I will share my thoughts on each of them.

Modern Neck-Length Bob with Stylish Blunt Bangs

#1: A Clean Blunt Bob with Sharp Bangs

The haircut’s clean lines are enough for any hairdresser to want to grab their scissors! Blunt bangs cut straight across the forehead creating a purposeful and very structured appearance. This look is ideal for people with naturally straight hair or those who do not mind having to flat iron their hair regularly. Since the look requires decent density, those with thin hair probably won’t be able to achieve this look, but the haircut is still worth it. I tell my clients this haircut is fantastic for photos! The lines look so polished and professional.

Soft Layered Neck-Length Bob with Side Bangs

#2 Layered Bob with a Soft Side-Swept Bang

This looks wonderful! Side-swept bangs have a soft look and the layers give the hair movement without being choppy. I think this is one of the best cuts you can get if your hair is on the thinner side because the layers will create more volume. Side bangs are also really easy to style and some people don’t want to have to come back every 3 weeks to get their hair cut. I really like this style because it is nice and effortless. It looks so good!

Textured Neck-Length Bob with Subtle Bangs

#3 A Wavy Bob with Bangs That Don’t Try Too Hard

I love the texture on this style! The soft waves give me the vibes that she just washed her hair, let it air dry, and maybe even scrunched it a little before walking out the door. It’s that kind of energy I appreciate most in a haircut. The bangs are also on point. They’re not heavy or blunt; they’re just the right amount to pull the whole look together without it looking too overdone. If you have naturally wavy hair, this will probably be a wash and go haircut, maybe just add a little texturizing spray when you want it to look good all day. It’s the kind of hairstyle that looks like you put in a ton of effort when really, you just have good taste. That’s the goal, right?

Bright and Airy Layered Bob with Wispy Bangs

#4 Airy Layered Bob in Silver with Wispy Bangs

I absolutely love this haircut. I think the bangs and soft layers create an almost otherworldly effect. The silver color is stunning and looks intentional, not like someone let it grow out. That really adds to the polish of the whole look. I will say, though, very fine hair might require more caution with layers this soft. There’s a fine line between airy and see-through, and you don’t want to cross it. A very lightweight styling cream worked through the ends is a good way to achieve that tousled look without added weight. The ends are what really make the cut special and keep the look from being too stuffy.

Chic Layered Neck-Length Bob with Wispy Bangs

#5 Silver Layered Bob with Feathery Bangs

The softer bangs help to keep the look nice and gentle around the face, and the layered cut looks even better here. I also love the silver color! I think the cut looks the best on people whose hair still has a bit of volume since those cut ends need something to grab on to. Hair that gets flat and limp is usually in need of a root volumizing powder. It’s a nice shape and the wispy bangs give a softer look than blunt bangs for sure, so I think the bang choice was a good decision overall.

Chic Textured Neck-Length Bob with Face-Framing Bangs

#6 Textured Gray Bob with Face-Framing Pieces

These bangs are really nice because they direct attention to your cheekbones and eyes instead of letting hair hang. The wave is subtle and gives the hair a more natural look. It looks like she didn’t spend 45 minutes to style it which gets a plus from me. I wish more women would embrace that light grey color against mature skin as it is stunning. Overall it’s a forgiving hair cut because it doesn’t need to be styled a lot to look nice, although I’d suggest that if you have really fine hair you might want to think about whether the texture will hold or whether it will collapse before the afternoon.

Textured Neck-Length Curly Bob with Soft Bangs

#7 Curly Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

This one is doing everything right and with a little natural curl to your hair you’ll want to check this one out. The curls add so much liveliness and volume to this cut that it almost looks styled, and the soft bangs look so nice on the forehead, not going full poodle which is always the fear with curly bangs isn’t it. The cut is really flattering at just above the jaw and I think it works on a lot of different face shapes because the curls create their own softness. The main thing I’d say is that curly hair at this length absolutely needs moisture so invest in a good leave in conditioner and don’t skip it, ever, because if you do, frizz will find you.

Playful Neck-Length Curly Bob with Soft Side Bangs

#8 Bouncy Curly Bob with Side Bangs

Similar to the last curly bob, the side bangs add a different personality – a little more playful. The added curls make the whole look youthful, not trying to look twenty-five. The length is perfect, just above the shoulders, giving you some great versatility. I’ll be honest, curly styles like this do take some know how to keep the shape, you can’t just blow dry it however and expect it to look like this. But if you already know your curl pattern and work with it, this is a really fun option and lets your natural texture be the star of the show.

Modern Textured Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

#9 Wavy Bob with Blended Soft Bangs

One of the best parts of this haircut is the way the bangs integrate with the rest of the hair. They slide in the layers, so everything moves as one. The natural wave is just the right amount of body to keep it interesting without the fuss. nnIf you have fine to medium hair this is a great haircut to have something that looks multidimensional. The layers create shadows and pockets of movement that trick the eye. It looks effortless, but this haircut works hard.

Chic Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

#10 Sleek Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

This example showcases a bob perfectly and sometimes that is exactly what is needed. The bangs contribute enough to a sense of finished quality, and the texture is smooth enough to not go flat. This bob is a perfect example of balancing many different qualities, which is harder to achieve than most people expect. My guess is this would be really nice on someone with either straight or wavy hair that also does not want to spend a lot of time on styling. You will want to keep up on trims because a cut like that clean will show a lot of growth and it can really show. A clean bob is classic and really nice.

Elegant Layered Neck-Length Bob with Face-Framing Bangs

#11 Elegant Layered Silver Bob with Cheekbone-Framing Bangs

These face framing bangs hit at the cheekbones, which does something great to the entire face. And silver here has natural highlights going through it which adds a lot of dimension to the color. I always prefer this over flat one-tone silver because it reads as more natural and more visually interesting. The layers create nice movement and I think this style would suit just about every hair density. It’s elegant without being stiff. It’s the kind of style you could go to dinner in and also go to the grocery store and still feel good about it.

Elegant Silver Neck-Length Bob with Side-Swept Bangs

#12 Silver Bob with Side-Swept Bangs

These side-swept bangs look more relaxed and contemporary than a straight-across bang style. I think this is a really good compromise for women who are apprehensive about getting full bangs. The subtle layering provides movement without shape loss. One thing I want to point out is that with silver and lighter shades, your ends are required to be in good condition because split ends and breakage are more obvious with lighter hair. So if you go this way, a good hair oil for the ends will be your best friend.

Chic Silver Layered Bob with Soft Bangs

#13 Silver Layered Bob with Airy Bangs

The bangs create the sense of lightness, airiness, and softness, and the texture keeps it looking nice and neat. This layered bob is cut quite nicely, and with a lot of fullness and roundness to suit the rounder face shapes, which not many bobs can do. I also have to mention this level of sophisticated softness does not come by itself. Most likely you will need a round brush and a blow dryer to get the body through the layers, which is quick and not a full production, so I would say it’s a five min thing.

Elegant Silver Bob with Full Bangs

#14 Silver Bob with Full, Structured Bangs

The full bangs are super bold, and I love it! They make a statement and give the whole look an intentional put-together vibe, and I think it looks amazing on the right person. The structured layers underneath add a nice modern touch, and the silver hue looks great here. I’ll be honest with you, though, full bangs like that are a big commitment. If you want them to look like that, you’ll be trimming them every two to three weeks, and that’s a lot of chair time. But if you’re up for the maintenance, then this is definitely one of the most bold iterations of the bob you’ll find on this list.

Chic Layered Neck-Length Bob with Face-Framing Bangs

#15 Layered Gray Bob with Textured Face-Framing Bangs

I appreciate the texture and the flow of the bangs! They aren’t just sitting there, and I like how they interact with the rest of the hair for a complete style The light gray color and subtle layers creates a softness and elegance to the look. For fine hair, this style is one where a volumizing mousse is really helpful to apply and blow dry it. It makes a big difference between looking flat and looking really full and bouncy. With this shape, it’s a small step that really pays off!

Textured Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

#16 Light Textured Bob with Soft Bangs

This style is super simple which I think will be good for people who do not want to invest a lot of time into a look, but want to appear semi groomed as they walk out the front door. The bangs are soft and there is enough movement throughout the rest of the hair that it will not be stale. The low density of the hair helps keep the style feeling light and flowing. In all honesty, I don’t have much to say about this. It’s a good bob with no drama and to be honest, that’s what you need sometimes.

Effortlessly Chic Neck-Length Bob with Soft Face-Framing Layers

#17 Silver Bob with Soft Layers and Face-Framing Movement

Face-framing layers are really nice with this one. They curve in a little towards the face which gives a really nice shape around the cheeks and jaw. The natural silver shine is lovely as well. The hair looks healthy, and that’s super important with a cut like this. Healthy hair moves so differently from damaged hair. The soft waves keep it from looking too flat or boring, and it strikes a good balance between being a basic neck-length bob and being too much. I can see this being really gorgeous on anyone with fine to medium hair who is already rocking their silver.

Chic Glossy Bob with Blunt Bangs

#18 Glossy Rich Bob with Blunt Bangs

This looks ridiculously good. The color is so deep and rich, and the glossy finish elevates the whole style. The blunt bangs look super clean and precise, and give the whole look an editorial vibe which is something I really love but don’t see often in everyday hairstyles. This type of bob really needs to shine so I recommend getting a good shine spray or finishing serum to keep it looking polished between washes. Out of all the styles on this list, this is definitely one of the most high maintenance but the payoff is definitely worth it. When this bob is looking good, it looks really really good.

Chic Silver Bob with Textured Bangs

#19 Silver Textured Bob with Piece-y Bangs

I think the textured bangs look more modern than blunt bangs with silver hair and I like the nice piece-y quality of the bangs. Movement comes from the angle of the cut, and the layers add volume where it’s needed. The texture in the bangs lets your forehead peek through, so I think this is a good option for someone who wants bangs but wants to be less concealed. The bangs are likely going to need a little maintenance in the morning, but that probably won’t take more than a couple minutes to your routine. I think a quick pass of a round brush and some kind of styling product should do it.

Radiant Copper Neck-Length Bob with Elegant Bangs

#20 Copper Bob with Warm Bangs

This warm coppery red is really beautiful and different from other fashion colors that look great on Instagram and in person. This color is also really flattering to more matured faces because it brings warmth to the skin. The cut is simple, but if the color is doing that much work, then you don’t need a lot going on with the cut. The bangs are soft and look great. I tell clients that maintenance for copper is expected. That means color appointments every four to five weeks. To keep it looking fresh, use a good color depositing shampoo and you need to stay on top of it, as it will fade noticeably.

Chic Textured Neck-Length Bob with Fringed Bangs

#21 Tousled Bob with Fringed Bangs

This hairstyle gives off a Parisian/Eraune effortless chic that’s a vibe. I love how the tangle layered bangs give individuality and the color variation of the highlights creates depth. I think this hip look is better with a bit of an undone touch. If you’re someone who tends to style their hair a lot, this is one look you’ll have to restrain yourself. The layers will have to be trimmed often enough to keep people from mistakenly assuming you’re going for that just grown out look. The difference between messy and just grown out is much smaller than you’d think.

Chic Textured Neck-Length Bob with Soft Bangs

#22 Wavy Textured Bob with Soft Bangs

The waves add a lot of depth to this look. I think this would be an amazing choice for someone with medium to thick hair who wants to work with their natural texture as opposed to fighting it with a straightener. The soft bangs keep it from looking too messy and give the whole look a nice anchor point. If you go for a hairstyle like this and your hair is wavy, a lightweight mousse will be your best friend. Apply it to damp hair and scrunch it to define the waves without it feeling crunchy, then let it air dry from there.

Classic Neck-Length Bob with Soft Blunt Bangs

#23 Classic Smooth Bob with Blunt Bangs

What I appreciate is the simplicity of the look and the absence of distracting elements. It is a straightforward bob hairstyle with blunt bangs that rest right above the eyes. The smoothness of the hair cut creates the whole look. It is all about the line and the shape. If your hair is naturally curly and has a lot of texture, this may not be the most achievable look unless you really want to straighten your hair a lot. This hairstyle is very easy to maintain if your hair is naturally straight. The hair just falls in place and looks good. The bangs will need to be trimmed often, but the overall look is very neat. Considering all of this, the hairstyle is of little effort to achieve and maintain.

Chic Layered Neck-Length Bob with Subtle Bangs

#24 Layered Bob with Subtle, Easy Bangs

I admire the bangs for being soft and subtle, and I mean subtle in the best way. They add a gentleness to the look without drawing attention away from the other features. The way the layers are placed adds a light, breezy feel to the style, and I think this is a look many women in their fifties will appreciate. The best part of this cut, in my opinion, is that it will be easy to maintain and won’t take much time or product to style because, for most of my clients, that’s what they value most in a cut. The overall style comes across as polished and put together, and offers that organized vibe even on days when you’re feeling the complete opposite.

Softly Textured Neck-Length Bob with Subtle Bangs

#25 Softly Layered Bob with Delicate Bangs

I love this last look. What a wonderful example to end on! The versatility is outstanding! The soft layers add a lot of body, and are great for finer hair. The soft bangs also frame the face without being too much. Length that sits just above the shoulders is flattering on almost everyone. With a look this easy, the skill of the stylist is so important. You need to see a specialist in bob cuts because it’s super obvious when a bob is bad. If you wanted to go a little further, some delicate highlights would also be awesome for a sun-kissed look. The cut is beautiful and super easy to wear as is, but it would be a lovely addition.
