While reorganizing my station the other day, I found an old picture from 2019 of a client who came in for ***just a trim.*** This was the client who ended up leaving with her first micro bob, and I remember this moment so clearly that it has helped me sell micro bobs for years. She had hair that was past her shoulders and clearly just hanging there, doing nothing for her. I remember saying ***what if we just took it all the way up?*** Some people would say that they thought it was a color service, but she said yes. When I turned her around to the mirror, she was so emotional because she had her whole face showing. She looked incredible, and everything opened up.
A perfectly styled micro bob can change not only how a person feels about themselves, but also how others view them. It can change the overall geometry of the look. Micro bobs are not just short bobs, they are a specific length and shape falling between the ear and the jaw. It’s that little slice of ‘real estate’ where the magic happens. My excitement about doing micro bobs now compares to a few years ago, is the multitude of different directions I can take them in. Whether it is choppy, sleek, rounded, angular, with bangs or without, on straight or curly hair, any color in the rainbow and everything in between. There is likely to be an option that is suitable for you but I will give you the heads up on which ones are easier to live with than others. I’ll post some of my favorites as well as some seemingly random styles that I find interesting to share, describe, or think about.

#1: Brunette Wavy Micro Bob with Bold Bangs
This one is great because it lets the natural wave do the most work, which is always my preference for someone with texture like that. It’s cut just above the shoulder, and those bold straight-across bangs give it so much French girl energy that I’m honestly never tired of, especially on heart or oval-shaped faces where that heavy fringe lands perfectly. Dark brunette is one of those shades that work basically year-round so you’re not chasing seasonal changes, and the wave’s density gives you volume without having to do much in the morning. The one thing I would mention is that if your hair waves like that, you will need to put a little effort into keeping those bangs smooth and straight because the cut wants to move a lot and the bangs want to stay still… A quick pass with a flat iron on the fringe and you’re done. It’s one of those cuts that looks like you spent way more time on it than you actually did, which is basically the dream.

#2: Soft Flipped Ear-Grazing Micro Bob with Subtle Root Lift
There is a lot happening with this style. It hits the jawline and has soft, flipped ends, that move with minimal styling. It also has some natural root lift courtesy of a frontal cowlick. Cowlicks tend to get a bad rap, but in this style, they work in your favor by providing some much-needed lift. The hair appears to be fine to medium with a subtle wave. If I were to cut it, I would use some light interior graduation and point cutting to keep it airy. I also love that it showcases earrings. It’s a great effortless style and very quick to style in the morning. The cowlick may require some extra drying time and, if you have very thick hair or tight curls, this style won’t really behave as intended. But with the right hair texture, it’s lovely.

#3 Choppy Textured Micro Bob with Feathered Nape and Micro Fringe
I’m so excited about this haircut! I love the texture in all the different sections. This one is an ear-to-jaw choppy micro bob with layered nape, and a short edgy micro fringe. On straight fine hair, with a few layers, some slight graduation, and point cut at the ends, movement is created that just… breathes. This haircut creates natural volume at the crown while also having some of that modern cheek framing. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this haircut for coarse or heavy hair because it will feel really heavy and fight the cut. To keep this style you will need to lightly side part the fringe every day. Done right, this is one of those haircuts that will have people stopping you all the time!

#4: Glossy Rounded Micro Bowl Bob with Low Nape Taper
I appreciate the editorial and intentional feel of this, and the rich burgundy color looks tremendous and serves its purpose well by disguising the thin ends and adding richness to the whole look. It almost gives a helmet-like effect, though it sounds odd when I say that. I find this style particularly satisfying because freshly cut perimeter edges with an internal graduation and a blunt fringe exude a sculpted quality which is magnificent. The style is exceptionally demanding of precision so that it doesn’t end up resembling a bad mushroom cut, and it definitely does not suit heavy cowlicks, coarse, curly hair, or strong curly textures. And while it might seem like a lot of work to get to that point when everything falls into place it creates a real head-turner.

#5: Crisp Jaw-Grazing Micro Bob with Delicate Center-Slit Fringe
This haircut has a clean and minimal style where the precision is the real focal point. It is a micro bob that touches the jawline, with an extremely fine center split fringe and a blunt baseline that has just the perfect amount of interior beveling with a few forward, face-framing slices to keep it from looking boxy. It just works straight hair and oval face shapes without much more explanation. The outline looks modern and the no fuss styling adds a lot, especially when paired with little product. Honestly, it will highlight the shape of your head so keep that in mind. It’ll need a flat iron to keep it looking sleek and it’ll show root smudge quicker since there’s less hair to hide behind.

#6: Edgy Ear-Grazing Bob with Choppy Notched Micro Fringe
This look has an attitude like no other and I love it! We have an ear-length bob with a choppy, notched micro fringe and a slight inward flip at the nape. It almost gives a punk yet polished finish. The hair is straight and is medium to fine textured. When I cut this, I would keep the perimeter on the blunt side but would go in and out with a lot of point cutting and light thinning to create movement. It beautifully frames the cheekbones and has that modern low length effect which I absolutely love at the moment. I think the biggest commitment to this style is the cropped fringe, because it needs shaping every morning, but other than that the rest of the cut will style itself. I do see a small crown cowlick in this picture that might need some styling cream or a bit of reshaping to sit right, but that is up to you. Overall, if you are willing to give the fringe five minutes of your time, the rest of the cut will sell itself.

#7: Textured Short Copper Micro Bob with Sculpted Mini Fringe
I love this copper color! Plus, the side petal flips and sculpted mini bangs are really cute! It’s a jaw ear grazing micro bob, and works best on medium density, wavy hair. For movement in the back I would use a combination of interior graduation, point, and slide cutting to keep the movement soft and natural instead of stiff and forced. The crisp face framing looks good and you won’t have to do a lot of work to get this look which is a bonus! The only two things I would say are that the cropped fringe is going to show a lot of forehead so you have to be comfortable with that, and the color copper will need some maintenance because it’s gorgeous but fades a lot. You’ll need a color depositing conditioner to maintain the color sediments in between salon visits.

#8: Rounded Ear-Grazing Micro Bob with Soft Curtain Layers
The hair design here is very nice. The hairstyle goes softly around the model’s ears and the face framing pieces are soft and gentle. The light internal layering allows the hairstyle to feel full without being bulky. The texture is great because of the warm low-lights and the great wavy texture of fine to medium hair density. The nape detail adds lift without too much weight and the style is balanced and personable. If the hair is very thick or has tight curls I don’t recommend this hairstyle without thinning, as it would create a lot of puff. For the ideal hair type this is one of the styles that would allow a soft flip to finish the look and you may need some styling product and a round brush to keep the relaxed wave and soft flip.

#9: Curly Ear-Length Micro Bob with Teal Face-Framing Panels
When I see curly people who cut their hair, I really like the powerful look it gives and the teal peekaboo panels are a nice fun balance to that powerful look. This is an ear grazing micro bob with tight 3A/3B curls and a medium to high density. The short interior layering with soft perimeter is what makes it look rounded, without looking bulky, and you can tell that. The teal tone was pre lightened to about an 8/9 and then glazed which gives it that nice beautiful quality and dimension instead of looking flat and one dimensional. It looks beautiful with a diffuser and honestly, it doesn’t need much more than that. But here’s the thing: For the actual cut, you will need a curly cutter because if you go to someone who doesn’t understand curl shrinkage, you will end up with uneven bulk everywhere. If you have the right stylist and are willing to accept the color maintenance, you will end up with something stunning.

#10: Soft Curly Ear-Grazing Micro Bob with Sculpted Micro Fringe
The curls appear to be happy, and I can see why. This is a micro bob with a cropped sculpted fringe that is ear grazing and jaw length. It works wonderfully with natural curls with a density that falls anywhere within the 2C to 3A range. The combination of her height and the interior layering encourages the curl clumping to create a flattering rounded perimeter. That is approximately 25-35% of shrinkage which people with curls often understand, but I mention it because the cut needs to be designed with that factor in mind. There is a small crown cowlick that, once again, is helping out with the natural lift. You’ll want to diffuse (or scrunch style) dry, have a good curl cream in your rotation, and be prepared for some perimeter reshaping, but the result is an airy lifted look with a lot of personality.

#11: Sheer Curtain Micro Bob with Low Nape Taper
This style is cool without being shouty. It is an understate sophistication that gets noticed without cutting across the room. This micro bob with jaw grazing curtain bangs and a center part is soft and subtle. It works best on straight hair that is medium to fine in density. An interior graduation and low tapered nape create a weightless effortless floating look. This bob is super flattering to oval face shapes. The polished look is effortless with a few passes from the straightener. The fringe is super soft though so it will require some maintenance. Any sleeping position that is weird will be visible. If your hair is coarse or heavy curls, I would suggest avoiding this look, as that is the desired look, and will actively fight against it.

#12: Cropped Ash-Blonde Micro Bob with Pin-Loop Detail
In the most positive sense, this makes me think of a student of art and fashion, and its editorial! It is an ear-length ash-blonde micro bob with a blunt cropped mini fringe and a couple of cute little pin loops on top. The perimeter is point cut, which provides a little softness, and the overall silhouette works for fine hair with low to medium density, especially the oval or heart shapes, as it creates perimeter fullness. It also frames glasses really well, which I always keep in mind considering so many of my clients wear them. The reality check is that the fringe and loops will require heat and styling products and shaping to the loops weekly. As for the colour, it is a cool ash base with warm tips, so you want to ask for some subtle lowlights if you want more depth. Not low maintenance, but definitely conversation starting!

#13: Short Jaw-Grazing Bob with Blue Peekaboo Micro Fringe
I really love the colors! Many people who see the peekaboo coloring assume it has to be super bright and loud, but this is more of a whisper. It’s an ear-to-jaw grazing bob with a blunt micro fringe, and the teal underpainting at the fringe and inner panels creates a halo effect that is unexpected and beautiful in the sun. Clean medium pastels with a slight heart shape, fine to medium hair and medium density, this shape overall has that bowl cut clean quality, and the color gives underneath that edge. I would utilize a soft root shadow and some subtle interior layering to retain movement without disturbing the line too much. What you should know is that pastel Teal is a serious commitment. The pre-lightening has to be done with caution, the color will need to be refreshed often, but if you’re really into it, the result is absolutely worth it!

#14: Geometric Blunt Micro Bob with Subtle Nape Taper
Because this cut has a strong perimeter and an undercut at the back, you won’t have to use a lot of product to achieve this look! However, this cut may not work in your favor if you have waves or cowlicks in your hair, as they will become more obvious with this cut. This cut will especially show off the shape of your head, so make sure you are comfortable with that. I think the forward piece at the front gives some nice cheek framing which is a really nice touch!

#15: Ear-Grazing Copper Bob with Wispy Cropped Fringe
July may be a bit too early for autumn, but with this new bob I already have the fall vibes thanks to the beautiful copper hue and fringe detail! Great for oval and heart shapes, this ear grazing bob works best when the hair is fine to medium and wavy at the nape. It’s cut at a diagonal to encourage a soft flip and enough movement to keep it interesting. While the hair may seem lacking in dimension, a subtle root melt would help a lot! You’ll also get instant cheek framing, and if you prefer style with less structure, this will need very minimal styling. Since the hair is fine, I would recommend a light mousse or sea salt spray if you want to hold the shape. Use a diffuser for that as well! Because the warm copper color will likely turn brassy, you may need to plan a toning. Overall, this micro bob has a ton of style but it’s deceptively low maintenance!

#16: Precision Jaw-Grazing Blunt Bob with Babylight Ribbons
I enjoy spending time on babylights because when they capture sunlight and reflect it throughout the hair, it creates such an enchanting and warm effect. This style really shows how magical it can be! It’s a jaw grazing blunt bob with micro babylights and a very slight interior graduation. The precision blunt cut thickens the ends, and those light ribbons add soft vertical layers (and lightness) to the face, without overpowering lift. This style will work nicely on fine to medium hair, with shoulder-length hair and right at the jaw. It will flatter oval or slightly elongated faces the best. Communication around the babylights will be necessary to keep the tone from going warm. It may take a bit of gel or hairspray to keep the ends tucked under, and crown cowlicks (if you have one) will be very prominent with this cut. I really appreciate the combination of structured clean lines with soft light! It creates a look I find very sophisticated.

#17: Ear-Grazing Center-Part Micro Bob with Outward Flicks
The flicks at the end add character and prevent it from looking too simple or boring. It’s an ear grazing micro bob with a center part which is great for an oval face. It’s also best for fine – medium hair and medium density. If you want to achieve this look, I would recommend short interior layers and point cut ends to take off weight and help the ends to flip up. If you have a subtle crown cowlick, set your part to follow it and it will work with you instead of against you. The movement at the temples is pretty and the whole thing feels airy. However, it can bulk up on coarse or thick hair. Typically, you’ll want a light product to keep the ends in place. Overall, it’ll look good and require minimal effort.

#18: Cropped Jaw-Grazing Bob with Subtle Face-Framing Pieces
I do this haircut for people that want to look professional but don’t want to spend time doing their hair. This style is a simple jaw-length bob with an ear grazing blunt cut and slight interior point cutting. Most of the ends cut at the nape of the neck slightly turn under so everything looks neat and tidy. This style is perfect for oval face shapes and for hair types that are straight or wavy and have a medium density. A round brush blow out will only take you about 10 mins and will make you look very put together. The front pieces will need to be micro trimmed to look intentional and for people that have fine hair, it may look flat. This haircut will be a perfect fit for the right person but will most likely not work for people that have heavy curly hair.

#19: Soft Feathered Micro Bob with Wispy Micro Bangs
These micro bangs are really impressive and help to elevate the cheek bones which help soften the overall shape of the face. It brings in a youthful and slight boyish essence to the entire look. I also like the bob that is ear length, the bangs are done on straight fine to medium hair, which does some point cutting and slicing to create soft flicks outwards at the ends. For added styling, a matte paste should work well. These bangs can be a lot of work, as they can accentuate a more prominent jaw line. Without pretty graduated side layers to soften the look, you might receive some comments. I enjoy the ‘lived in’ look that small breaks create, and the warm chestnut with some copper accents sets everything off wonderfully.

#20: Warm Strawberry-Blonde Micro Bob with Subtle Blunt Fringe
This look is super sweet! It’s chin-skimming micro blunt bangs and strawberry blonde color combination that works best here. This is an all one length ear grazing micro bob. The bob is done with fine to medium straight hair at medium density. The cut features a clean un-layered perimeter with a tad bit of interior point cutting to create a soft inward nape tuck. On a heart shaped face, this style is stunning. It showcases the complexion beautifully and gives a soft frame around the face. A round brush with some product should do the trick. The bangs and color will be high maintenance but the look is definitely going to be worth the time spend in a salon. The tiny left side tip that is also off center and a bit longer than the right side will soften the jaw line just ever so slightly but it will make a noticeable difference. Those are the kinds of details that take a good haircut to a great one.

#21: Rounded Stacked Micro Bob with Soft Curtain Fringe
The stacking at the nape offers an inward roll that so many people want and don’t know how to ask for, and that combined with the soft curtain fringe helps add a lot of balance to the shape. This is a chin length rounded stacked micro bob that is particularly flattering to round to oval shaped faces. It works best on fine to medium straight hair with a medium density. It utilizes a subtle root shadow to blend the regrowth which is always a clever choice. The movement is light and easy, and it air dries well. It is a great frame for facial piercings which I don’t think gets enough consideration. You need precise graduation to get the stacking right and the warm blonde will need toners to maintain it periodically so that is something to keep in mind, but it is a really satisfying cut to wear.

#22: Short Rounded Micro Bob with Center Curtain Fringe and Interior Stacking
This is an ear-length micro bob that features some technical detailing in the grown-out curtain fringe as well as some crown stacking. It works best for the oval face shape and straight to soft wavy medium density hair. The point cutting along with the pivot point graduation creates an airy and effortless frame around the jaw and adds an effortless clean lift to the cut. This definitely is NOT the choice for tighter curl patterns and the fringe will require daily shape ups and may even require a light blow dry to maintain that crown lift. However, it is definitely polished and cool.

#23: Sleek Ear-Grazing Blunt Micro Bob with Short Micro Fringe
This haircut seems purposeful, and it is certainly clean. The confidence in the line is clear because everything is so intentional. The micobob is ear grazing blunt, and the micro fringe is extremely short with tight interior graduation at the nape. It is on naturally straight hair of fine to medium density. The line is geometric which is ideal for oval and heart shaped faces. I personally think that the glassy modern finish is one of the best ways to go. The rose brown shade is just warm enough without going overboard, which is perfect. The precision does come at a cost though, and that is how quickly it shows growth and cowlicks. The color also needs a lot of careful prelightening control. For subtle asymmetry, she has a little tucked face slice behind the ear which I think is a small detail that makes a big difference.

#24: Short Flipped Micro Bob with Blunt Crop Fringe
The flip’s cut is great, and I believe a tiny crown cowlick is benefitting this flip by providing some extra natural lift that works with the internal graduation instead of going against it. It is chin-grazing, micro bob with a blunt crop fringe that sits one knuckle over the brows, at the ideal length for oval or heart face shapes. Texture and density of fine to medium will air dry into a silhouette that is nice and lightly sculpted. I want to be upfront though, that ultra short fringe is a daring choice and not everybody loves it at three weeks. The shape is allowed by the internal graduation to form that subtle weight shelf that encourages the flip. The tips of the bob should be flipped under, and that may need a heat tool or some product for hair that isn’t cooperating that day. I’m being very honest when I say this, you need to be prepared for it and then you will love it.

#25: Short Petal-Framed Micro Bob with Nape Flip
I would call the framing on this piece petal-like, as these soft pieces that curve around the face create something almost organic. It’s an ear-grazing micro bob with a blunt micro fringe, and small nape flip that works well on oval to round faces with straight hair that is fine to medium density. The silhouette is clean and rounded, and with a round brush, it’s pretty easy to achieve the natural movement. The solid dark colour is stunning; however, it does show regrowth more than highlighted or dimensional colour would. The interior point-cut notching behind the ear requires good scissor hands, so make sure your stylist enjoys working with detail.

#26: Ear-Grazing Ash-Silver Micro Bob with Feathered Micro Fringe
Achieving a beautiful Ash silver color can be challenging. However, it can look amazing when done correctly. This color with an ear grazing micro bob with a feathered fringe is looking very modern and futuristic. This look has a jaw/ear length layered cut which is best for oval and heart shaped faces. This look is also great for fine to medium density straight hair. This style features some subtle interior stacking and a reverse graduation at the nape that creates an effortless flip with additional volume at the crown. The best part about this bob is that it provides the movement and shape as opposed to the styling. This bob cut is great to achieve a cheekbone lift and excellent airiness and movement. To maintain this style, you’ll need to take regular trips to the salon to apply light ash toners. This will prevent the color from warming up. You’ll also need to style it lightly to keep the cut in good shape. Despite the cut requiring work, the style will definitely be worth it.

#27: Rounded Copper Precision Micro Bob with Cropped Blunt Fringe
There are so many aspects of this style that are very exciting. There is a lot of confidence in the overall look. It’s an ear grazing micro bob done on straight fine to medium hair with an allocated cropped blunt fringe and clean perimeter weight line. There’s also a subtle interior nape which makes the neck appear longer creating a floating curve. This haircut gives people the feeling that something has changed about the person. The frame is crisp and gorgeous and for straight hair, daily shaping can be done to keep it looking really nice and the copper color payoff is really good. This style is not for coarse and very curly hair as the cut and color tend to be high maintenance but for someone that desires a more sharp look this haircut is very on point.

#28: Precision Angled Micro Bob with Full Blunt Fringe
It’s not every day you find a haircut that looks just as good in pictures as it does in real life! This is a precision chin length micro bob with a full blunt fringe, a slight subtle forward angle, and slight interior graduation at the nape to remove bulk. Best on naturally straight hair of medium to high density and oval or angular jawlines. The silhouette is ultra clean, and I love the mirror-like gloss of that single-process color chestnut. It will, however, show cowlicks. If you have tight curls, heat control will be necessary to keep the gravity line intact. When someone comes in with the right hair, I get really excited because I know how good it will look!

#29: Textured Micro Bob with Soft Rounded Micro Fringe
I like the way this style looks because it has a nice gentle feel and texture, without the aggressiveness that some styles have. This particular look is as ear-length micro bob with a softly rounded fringe, short nape graduation and light razor texturizing at the ends. This style works best with straight to wavy hair of medium density, and round to oval face shapes. There is also a natural crown cowlick, which provides lift, which is always a nice feature. The modern movable texture allows for easy styling with a matte paste and you can piece it out to your liking based on your mood. The fringe will need to be shaped regularly to keep it looking neat and as for your hair being fine, you may need to have some internal thinning done to avoid any undesired heaviness in certain spots. Overall, this style is a very approachable take on the micro bob.

#30: Cropped Precision Orange Micro Bob with Blunt Mini Fringe
The bold orange shade certainly makes a statement, and I appreciate bright colors. In my opinion, the graphic design of the sliced blunt mini fringe contrasting with the vivid orange would be electrifying on the right person. The style is an above-the-ear micro bob with a pronounced weight line because of the nape undercut that’s best suited to fine to medium density straight hair and oval to round faces as the weight line enhances the cheeks. Considering the high porosity of the hair, a single process color will need prior bleaching, which, as you can imagine, requires a lot of maintenance – think regular toning and color-safe shampoo to make sure the orange doesn’t wash out from the vivid color. Because of the color, you’ll need a precise cut since any visible mistakes at that length will be extremely obvious. This would be a showstopper if you are the kind of person who goes above and beyond.

#31: Blunt Ear-Grazing Bob with Subtle Nape Inset
Here’s an example of an elegant and bold haircut that shows the wearer’s sense of direction. It is an accurately done grazing blunt bob with an inset nape and that fabulous ash blonde with dark roots. The hair is very straight and of fine to medium density. The hidden inset lightens the weight so it looks as if the line is floating, which is such a beautiful effect. The shadow at the roots softens the harshness of regrowth so you don’t have to adhere to a strict regimen with your colorist. Heat smoothing is needed to keep its mirror quality and you will need to address some cowlicks since they will be more obvious, and the color will need updating and frequent toner to keep it a cool ash, but the silhouette really is super sharp and totally holds up the maintenance.

#32: Short Textured Shaggy Micro Bob with Face-Framing Slices
I love a great shag, and this one is a micro bob that carries that same spirit. Shag bobs rock! It’s light and slightly messy, plus there are some flattering, face framing pieces that accentuate the cheekbones. The bob is ear grazing with shag like interior layers and tapered pieces that frame the face which is superb for oval and heart shapes. The hair appears to be fine to medium density with slight natural waves along with a little nape flip. The crown cowlick helps with lift which, yes, cowlicks can be super handy. The movement is amazing, the definition at the cheekbones is there, and the volume is spot on. Cowlicks can create volume where it is needed, as well as be super handy when it comes to updos and ponytails. The front pieces will need some maintenance to get them to that face framing look, and it is worth noting that if your hair is really coarse and super thick this shag style can be quite resistant.

#33: Wavy Jaw-Grazing Micro Bob with Subtle Root Smudge
I really like what the wave is doing here, and the subtle root smudge for depth is creating a soft dimension that looks very natural. This is a jaw grazing micro bob with a soft side sweep on fine to medium textural hair with medium density, and a natural wave. The perimeter is point cut and there’s a tiny bit of interior nape graduation that encourages that outward flick, which gives it life. It’s light and moves beautifully. It lifts and cheek and air dry’s really well, which is honestly what a lot of my clients are looking for. The trade offs are that you can’t really pull this up for an updo. The regrowth shows sooner, and the color line shows sooner, so plan for a root smudge refresh every few weeks if you want the blended look to last.

#34: Warm Copper Layered Micro Bob with Soft Rounded Fringe
I would recommend this hairstyle to my clients with glasses as the rounded bangs and the temple flip pair nicely with the frames. This style features a warm copper short ear-grazing layered micro bob with a soft rounded fringe. It is ideal for fine to medium wavy hair of medium density and for round to oval face shapes. The interior layering and radial graduation at the crown provide lift and that soft flip while keeping the overall volume lightweight. The rounded outline keeps the style fresh and the copper color will need frequent glossing to keep that dimensional look. All in all, this is a flattering style that really works for the face.

#35: Short Rounded Micro Bob with Center Dip Micro Fringe
The dip in the fringe is a cowlick. You can really fight it or work with it and the person cutting it chose the latter which is smart. This is a micro bob that grazes the jaw and ears and has a rounded perimeter. For medium density hair that is straight to slightly wavy, the cut has a blunt outer line, some point-texturing on the interior, and a soft bevel on the nape that encourages a flip. The styling is so low effort yet it looks so good. The fringe does show the forehead, which some people can find awkward if they curl their hair and that cowlick does require some strategic layering to avoid it looking super accidental instead of intentional. But the result is really nice when you work with it instead of against it and that is the case here.

#36: Deep Ruby Layered Micro Bob with Petal-Framing Slices
Deep Ruby is just an amazing color that lures me in and makes me want to drop everything and schedule a color appointment. Such a rich and vibrant hue on the right person makes a big difference! This is an ear to chin layered micro bob with internal graduation, point cut petal slices, and a hidden concave nape layer that gives a nice outward flip and crown lift. This is ideal for round to oval face shapes with fine to medium straight hair that is slightly wavy. The jaw framing is strong and the dimensional movement makes it interesting from every angle. Daily shaping is required to hold those flips but the red dye will require a demi gloss to maintain depth as it glosses out over time. Beautiful reds will run and fade faster than any other color family.

#37: Textured Chocolate Micro Bob with Soft Fringe
I recommend this haircut often and for good reason, it suits a wide variety of people. It’s cut just above the jawline with soft bangs which helps balance the face. The cut is designed for oval and heart shaped faces, and as such is extremely flattering. The layers are textured providing usable volume as opposed to just giving fine hair layers. This style gives that intentional look which is ideal for busy people, and honestly, most people I know are busy. For low maintenance style, highlights are recommended as they add dimension and movement to the hair. Air drying your hair is a great option for this look, and will still have you looking polished. The shorter length will require more frequent trims to keep the look fresh but overall it’s a low maintenance cut and will fit into your routine easily.

#38: Sleek Chestnut Micro Bob with Side Swept Bangs
The chestnut shade on this one complements a lot of skin tones, adding warmth to the overall look and allowing the facial features to pop in a way that a cooler tone wouldn’t. It is a cropped style that sits right above the shoulders, and with the sleek and smooth finish, and soft side bangs that sweep across the forehead, I would consider it a low-maintenance style for finer hair – no tool and no time needed for this one. If you have a wavy hair texture, you may need to do a bit of smoothing with an iron to get it to look as polished as in the photo, but it should be a quick pass – not a whole production. I consider this a great in-between style. It’s professional enough for the office and casual enough for the weekend and the chestnut tone gives it a warm and inviting feel wherever you go.

#39: Streamlined Chestnut Micro Bob with Natural Texture
I love the way the subtle highlights show off the hair’s dimension, which is difficult to achieve with one color process. The hair is a lovely chestnut, falls above the shoulders, and that color allows fine to medium hair to achieve that fuller look feathered styles often request. The hair has a professional and casual look that is the sweet spot because it can go to a board meeting and to brunch. The precise length will require more frequent trims to keep the line looking clean, but that’s a trade off for the overall styling being low effort, and I think it’s worth it. For someone wanting to freshen up the entire look without going for a drastic change, this is a good option.

#40: Effortless Black Wavy Micro Bob with Subtle Layers
The uneven texture of the cut creates an effortless youthful vibe. However, achieving this cut may be challenging because, in most cases, this cut looks best with hair that is freely flowing and doing its own thing. The subtle layering in this cut provides an adequate amount of volume to hair that ranges from fine to medium density. The black color of the hair provides a striking contrast with the skin, especially on lighter tones. This haircut is perfect for a person who loves to get up and go. Maybe a light mousse and a few curls for a cute effortless look are all that is needed, and the hair looks great and like so much time has been put into it. The waviness in the hair allows it to be styled differently each day. Some people hate having hair that looks different every day, and some people love it. Be sure to consider this before making the cut because it can require a lot of maintenance.

#41: Chic Espresso Micro Bob with Soft Contouring
The angles on this haircut softly define the cheek and jaw structure without being too hard. It also looks nice on straight, thick hair, and on a medium skin tone the rich deep espresso color is classy but not too much. Overall, this will require some maintenance to keep the shape because thick hairs will go out of control after a few days. However, the length is manageable, and you won’t have to visit the salon a ton. It’s one of those cuts that will make you look really polished, even if you don’t put a lot of effort into your hair. I think that’s a true sign of a great haircut.

#42: Glossy Chestnut Rounded Micro Bob
My favorite part of this look is how the colors are paired and the soft shimmer that catches the light. Not everyone will notice it, but I think it makes the whole cut way more interesting. Because of the rounded edges showcasing the jaw, I think this cut works best for oval and heart-shaped faces. If you have fine hair, the extra volume from the uniform length will be great, especially with the deep chestnut color to give that sleek look. While the length does limit styling options, most people appreciate the simplicity and ease this cut offers. I really love the low-maintenance and subtly stunning look.

#43: Dynamic Blonde Tousled Micro Bob with Feathered Bangs
The feathered bangs modernize the hairstyle. I think it helps to soften square and heart shaped faces. The slight tousle gives an edgy look that’s easy to approach. The shorter length helps to make the style easier to manage daily. The layers from the cut bring up the volume, which is super important if you have fine or thinning hair. The highlights are pretty, but you’ll need to visit your stylist a lot to keep that sun-kissed look. I know it’s one of those situations where the more natural it looks, the more work that went into it. But considering everything, I think it’s worth it.

#44: Copper-Toned Tousled Micro Bob with Bangs
We love this tousled micro bob! The chin length style with natural waves is perfect for fine to medium hair types, adding effortless volume. Soft bangs also nicely frame the face and are especially flattering to oval/longer face shapes. The style does give off a more casual and slightly messy vibe meaning you won’t be spending much time on styling. For this to look sharp though, you will need to keep up with frequent edge maintenance, and with regular color touch ups to keep the copper fresh. Overall, I believe it will give clients a youthful look with an edge, and I think this is a style many of my clients will respond to. Ideal for anyone wanting to look like their hair is naturally gorgeous.

#45: Polished Chestnut Micro Bob with Subtle Texture
I love how the finish on this is polished, and the formal stiffness is avoided with the gentle texture. The defined layers and blunt cut finish will suit fine to medium textured hair as they will create an effect of fullness, and I adore that chestnut shade. It has a chameleon effect, shifting under varying light conditions. In an indoor light, it is warm and inviting and in direct sunlight it is bright and vibrant. I appreciate that it has such a wide range of looks. The edge and color will require regular salon visits to maintain the precision cuts and warm dark tones. The cut does contribute to your overall look, but with oval and heart shaped faces, the framing is gentle and lovely. It’s one of the styles that really enhances your features.

#46: Soft Golden Layered Bob with Rounded Fringe
I really like fringes on a style and this is a fantastic example of how a rounded fringe can change a style. For more angular facial structures, a rounded fringe will add a bit of softness and balance. And with a length that is just past the chin, it frames the face and brings out the cheekbones beautifully. The layers in this style are brilliant. They create some body and volume, but not so much that it is heavy, which is ideal for medium density hair that wants some more lift. It is true that this style will take a little more styling in the morning than a regular bob. The fringe will need some extra attention, but I think the combination of polished lines and gently placed highlights gives a freshness and moderness that more than compensates for it. I believe this style is a great option if you want something versatile that still has a hint of uniqueness.

#47: Chic Espresso Micro Bob with Subtle Waves
The soft waves look like a natural and effortless hairstyle. It looks like your hair just decided to look good on its own. The micro bob is cut above the shoulders and colored espresso brown which is nice and warm for cooler skin complexions. This hairstyle will work wonders for those who have thin or flat hair. The style of the haircut adds volume to your hair even if it lacks volume normally. This hair color is gorgeous but will need some frequent upkeep to look as rich and vibrant as it is now. The daily styling is minimal though which is a plus. I love haircuts that give you volume and elegance but don’t require a ton of work every single day.

#48: Chic Asymmetrical Wavy Micro Bob with Precision Bangs
I enjoy asymmetry as it has the potential to create a powerful effect and in this example, the sharp asymmetrical cut with defined waves and precise bangs demonstrates how to add a bit of edge without going overboard. This cut is ideal as it is stylish and easy to maintain, and the bangs also frame the face beautifully on round or oval face shapes. The subtle difference in size of the waves creates nice contrast in texture which is the opposite of what most wavy cuts achieve. Most do not create enough waves or make them too uniform and it ends up looking artificial. This look is ideal for experimentation because it doesn’t require long hair, however, regular maintenance is essential to keep the shape.

#49: Chic Blonde Micro Bob with Soft Textured Layers
This multi tonal blonde colour is stunning! It especially looks gorgeous on warmer skin tones. With this look, the micro bob has soft layers. This brings a fresh option for going short and keeps the versatility. It is great for medium density hair. The face framing soft layering creates options for you, I always appreciate that in a cut. You can go sleek one day and textured the next. This look is maintenance heavy for both colour and cut but the youthful vibrance is so worth it. For me, the upkeep is justified as it is such an easy transition from day to night looks.

#50: Glossy Black A-Line Bob with Natural Sheen
The natural shine I wish to concentrate on since with thicker denser hair, a glossy black A-line bob like this one has an incredible light-catching quality that’s impossible to replicate on fine hair. The subtle slope of the cut enhances numerous face shapes, and the length that sits around the face provides some versatility in how you can style it from day to day. It’s short enough to be easy to maintain which is always something I aim for when recommending cuts to my busy clients. Lighter hair shades tend to look shinier longer, but the cut is easy to look after and suits thicker hair types. It’s the ideal mix of a tad edge and being entirely manageable.
