57 Most Popular Haircuts for Women in 2026

Looking back on my bookings from January, I got a chuckle from something I noticed. Almost every single client note has a variation of “new year new hair”. I understand the vibe, January has a sparkly new vibe and people want to sit in the stylist chair and leave looking like a different person! I also find it interesting that haircuts are something that people seem to be making good decisions about in January. This isn’t about extremes either, but good decisions. My guess is that the holiday chaos has died down, and people are thinking clearly once again and not in the impulse driven mindset of booking a pre-party blowout.

A couple years ago, there was a client who came in on January 3rd and, I kid you not, her hair was literally down to her waist. She said she had been growing it since college. She came in and simply said, “I think I’m ready.” No Pinterest boards, no inspiration photos. Just a calm, quiet confidence. We talked for about 20 minutes and decided to go with a shoulder length layered cut. To this day, I still think it was the best decision for her. That is the energy I want with the people I work with. I want the confidence to not follow a trend or please anyone else, but instead do what feels right. With that, I want to share some of my favorite hairstyles and an assortment of some cuts and colors that I would recommend to a friend.

#1: Soft Layers at Mid-Length with That Effortless Wave Thing

This cut style sure looks like it could have been done with little effort. But it takes serious skill to pull this style off. When cutting hair into layers, it is common to run into the problem where the hair looks thin, especially with shorter hair. These layers will help make the hair swing, especially if your hair is medium or thick. The cut is made even more extraordinary because of the depth from the rich single color and shine, which is even more enhanced by the dark color. To achieve the waves, you will need to use a large barrel curling iron or round brush. Once you get the hang of it, it will take no more than five minutes to do each day.

#2: Silver Blunt Bob with a Little Texture Sneaking In

I understand that getting hair dyed silver may seem like a big commitment; however, paired with a blunt bob like this, it becomes one of the most incredible hairstyles possible. While the cut is shoulder length, the barely-there layers on the sides help avoid that ‘helmet’ look that I get concerned about when it comes to blunt bobs and fine/medium hair. The silver is of a cool tone, so it matches well with winter and complements most people’s faces beautifully when they look washed out. The downside is that you might need a good purple shampoo and a standing appointment every six weeks to keep the brass away. Despite the maintenance, this look is so worth it. The compliments come rolling in.

#3: Rich Chocolate Shoulder Cut That Just Looks Expensive

Mid-length hair that is chocolate brown in color looks absolutely incredible. The cut, which has soft layers starting at the chin, provides that perfect framing for the face. It’s the kind of haircut that gets that big complement – “Your hair looks amazing,” and it’s so good everyone just has to keep guessing what’s going on with it. Probably the best compliment you could possibly get about your haircut. That type of layering is ideal if your hair is of medium length and on the thicker side and you’re tired of it feeling heavy – it takes out just the right amount of bulk in the right places to keep fullness throughout. That color brings so much richness and warmth to the light and really helps in creating that stunning depth.

Chic Textured Bob with Face-Framing Bangs

#4: Textured Bob with Bangs That Actually Work

I think bangs are a bad hairstyle choice for a lot of people. However, the combination of face framing bangs and a bob is definitely a good option. You will not have to deal with losing your bangs in the growing out phase as these bangs are really wispy. Additionally, this bob is naturally wavy which helps keep the look interesting while also being effortless if your hair is fine to medium. You will have to get trims regularly to keep the bangs the same length, but in terms of the growing out process this cut is super easy to maintain.

#5: Long Layers with Those Soft Bangs That Frame Everything

I love getting to do hairstyles like this because there’s so much that can be done. For example, we can do long blended layers, meaning no chop, just really nice movement that start around the collarbone and go down, and soft bangs that just melt into everything. If you have medium to thick hair, the layers we do here will give a lot of volume and bounce without being poofy. Finish off with a shine serum on the ends and you are good to go!

#6: Long and Layered with Beachy Texture

This is giving me “I just came from a hot vacation”. In January, that is the exact vibe we want. The layers on the top are meant to be styled with finer hair, so it creates a lot of volume and movement, avoiding that scraggly look that is always a risk with long layered cuts on thinner hair. The balayage looks sun-kissed–that is the goal. Getting those waves to look this effortless does take a little work. But it shouldn’t take that long with a texturizing spray and, 10 minutes max, with a wand. After a little practice, it should become second nature.

#7: Clean Blunt Bob with Just Enough Texture at the Ends

I adore bobs, especially ones that are effortless, and this is one of them! The end pieces are so nice and the length is perfect with the hair hitting a little above the shoulders. Medium and thick hair makes this style give that polished, intentional look, no matter the outfit. Blunt cuts, unlike layered cuts, emphasize uneven lines. This means more frequent trimming to keep the cut from looking jagged. But if you want a haircut that is nice and doesn’t need to be styled daily, this is a great choice!

Glossy Copper Blunt Bob with Subtle Movement
Instagram: notoriafernanda

#8: Glossy Copper Bob That Catches Every Light

I love how the color and style work together. I want to pull out my color swatches. A blunt cut bob is a really simple style, but the color elevates it so much. The gloss of the copper color catches warm light in a way that makes it look like the hair is glowing. This color is beautiful and compliments a wide range of complexions, especially warm ones. If your hair is fine, I would recommend using a volumizing mousse at the roots to prevent things from getting too flat. With a color this good, added thickness is not a dealbreaker.

Softly Layered Mid-Length Cut with Natural Shine
Instagram: fabiola_s_lima

#9: Mid-Length with Soft Layers and Really Great Shine

It’s the shine for me! Dull hair can ruin the look of even the best haircuts. Everything comes together perfectly in this example. The layers are soft and framing the face, and aren’t drastic at all, just enough to create a little more movement around the jaw and cheekbones. The subtle balayage adds a little depth without making it too obvious. If you want dimension without the bright highlighted look, I think that’s the way to go! It’s really pretty on fine to medium hair because the layers don’t remove too much weight, they just give it life.

Modern Blunt Lob with Subtle Dimensional Color
Instagram: katiekinzhair

#10: Blunt Lob with Color That Has Some Depth to It

A blunt lob can look absolutely amazing or boring and color is nearly always the cause — good or bad. The dimensional color on this one is an interesting depth variation color, not highlights. The cut is clean and hits right at the chin, which is an effortless editorial look — straight or slightly wavy. The little waves suited for errands or a dinner date. The blunt ends are forgiving on styling, but you’ll need to keep up with your trims — on a cut like this, split ends show up fast.

Elegant Long Face-Framing Layers with Subtle Waves

#11: Long Flowing Layers with Face-Framing Pieces and Soft Waves

I think this style looks better in photos than in real life. The layers are designed long, using a soft blend, and face-framing pieces rest gently over the chin, and styled waves appear effortless. This warm brown color suits many skin tones and the shine comes from the health of the hair, not a product. This style is perfect for long hair that needs a modern refresh. Keeping that shine will take some work, so add a good deep conditioning treatment to your rotation.

Sleek Blunt Bob with Subtle Gloss

#12: Blunt Bob That’s All About the Finish

A well done blunt cut bob is one of those styles that looks really clean and intentional, and this one is no different. It is super straight and sharp, and falls right at that perfect length to elongate the neck. The finish is what REALLY makes the cut though, and that’s what the gloss treatment is for. Think of a gloss treatment like a clear coat on your car but for your hair. It’s super shiny, and gives that hair that healthy smooth look. On hair like this, straight and of medium density, the gloss treatment takes it to the next level. You want that “what did you do to your hair?!” reaction, and this will definitely do it.

#13: Wavy Textured Bob with Warm Caramel Running Through It

This style is perfect for someone who wants a low effort hairstyle, but still wants to look nice. The waves are not tight and more free form, like if you braided your hair and shook it out. The caramel highlights are placed to frame the face which makes the hair look thicker. The trick to this style is the lengths. It has been cut so the waves can fall into place without a lot of styling.

Chic Layered Mid-Length Cut with Subtle Movement
Instagram: narggessalon

#14: Layered Mid-Length with Subtle Movement at the Ends

If it’s a good mid length haircut with layers to create movement, then restraint is key. The ends have a feathered texture which helps the cut not look too blunt. When the hair is fine or medium, that kind of balance in the hair is great. It’s a really versatile haircut and can look good while wet and even styled. A cut that has that versatility is a sign of a good cut.

Textured Beachy Bob with Sun-Kissed Balayage
Instagram: betterfeeling_os

#15: Beachy Bob with Sun-Kissed Color That Looks Unbelievably Natural

When I see awesome balayage work, I want to know who did it, as placement technique is always the best part. I appreciate how the colour starts dark and gradually moves to a warmer honey at the ends. With those waves, it looks as if they spent a month on the beach. The overall cut sits just right at above the shoulders length where it’s long enough to pull back and short enough to be very mobile. If your hair is thicker, you may need to thin out the ends a bit more to maintain the lived in texture, but if your hair is fine to medium, it’s good to go.

Modern Textured Bob with Subtle Highlights

#16: Textured Bob with Highlights That Add Just Enough

I’ve recommended different variations of this cut a lot lately, and for good reason.Would you look at the length? It’s sitting perfectly above the shoulders, the texture soft and lived-in – and as far as highlights go, these are as low-maintenance as they come. No need to worry about visible roots every four weeks! On medium to thick hair, this cut will give you that effortless crown volume so many people strive for with products. The edges are soft and keep things modern and approachable, meaning, if you’re not keen on a big time spend for the cut in the morning, this is a great option as it basically does the work for you!

Silky Long Cut with Subtle Caramel Highlights
Instagram: glowhairartistry

#17: Long and Silky with Caramel Pieces That Catch the Light

The highlights are sure to compliment your style and cut. These caramel colors are beautifully designed to weave in and out and reflect light from all angles, while also providing warmth to the cut, especially with the contrast from the darker base. The long layers of the cut are designed to help your hair move, rather than just being heavy, and fine, naturally straight hair will certainly show the cut off beautifully. The shine on this cut is going to be stunning. Here, upkeep is meant to ensure the highlights remain fresh, so a toning appointment every couple of months will ensure that you are not brassy, and will be golden.

#18: Polished Blunt Bob with Ashy Dimension

An ashy-toned blunt bob is such a vibe! The cool, subtle highlights add tons of dimension to the hair without warming up the overall look. If you have pink or neutral undertones, this is perfect for you. The collarbone length cut with straight lines on fine to medium hair gives off such an effortless polished look, and it’s super quick and easy to style in the morning. You just need a little leave-in conditioner to smooth the ends and you’re all set!

Modern Blunt Bob with Subtle Texture
Instagram: natalie.rae.hair

#19: Clean Modern Bob Right at the Jaw

Bobs are just the best. You can make them look so put together in a way that looks effortless. This one has subtle texture which adds a bit of softness to it. On thick straight hair like this, it’ll keep its shape all day. The shine here looks like it’s healthy hair which is a good interstate shows some of the best things you can do for your style is put money into your hair health. If you have thick hair and are considering going this short, just be prepared to hair regularly.

Luxurious Long Cascading Layers with Espresso Highlights

#20 Long Cascading Layers with Deep Espresso Tones

This hair deserves a moment of appreciation. The flowing layers begin low enough not to add bulk at the top and create a beautiful cascading look throughout the length of the hair. The espresso highlights are blended so well that they look like natural color variations. This adds dimension to dark hair in the most natural way. You will need a good amount of thickness so that the layers have enough weight to be smooth and seamless. If you have that, then this is the kind of haircut that gets people asking if you did something different, but no one will know what that something is.

Modern Long Layered Cut with Subtle Highlights
Instagram: pompandproper

#21: Long Layers with Highlights That Keep It Interesting

The long-layered cut becomes beautiful and not just basic because of how the highlights are designed to complement the layers. Here we have a great example of that. Each layer has been designed to catch the light at different points giving it movement as well as a great deal of dimension. This look is ideal for medium to fine hair as it offers the appearance of fullness through the layers without requiring a lot of hair to do so. The color will require upkeep, but this is the kind of look that is most worth it.

#22: Modern Shag That Doesn’t Look Like You’re Trying Too Hard

I definitely enjoy a shag with a bit of restraint, and this example is a good case. The layers are very nice, and while they may border on being too wispy, the length sits past the shoulders which keeps it more modern than retro. Highlights woven into the layers add even more movement and dimension and on medium to thick hair gives hair that nice effortless, undone look that everyone wants. Natural texture is coming through here which means this is probably one of those haircuts that will look good even when you don’t put much, or any, effort into it.

#23: Textured Beachy Bob with Highlights That Melt In

This bob cut is designed to make fine hair appear to have twice the amount of volume. This is achieved through a combination of highlight placement and wave patterns. Lightened ends create an illusion of more fullness while waves add even more dimension. This mid-length style is ideal for easy, versatile styling, giving you the ability to maintain some length for additional styling options. If you have more angular features, the softness of the waves will be especially flattering. This is because waves will help soften and round out the look, without appearing overdone.

Glossy Deep Burgundy Layered Cut with Face-Framing Bangs
Instagram: corazonsagrado_

#24: Deep Burgundy Layers with Face-Framing Bangs

Burgundy is a great color that is perfect for any outfit. It is even better than other neutral colors that are used as a base. This deep burgundy color is dark enough to not be costume-like, instead it looks warm and interesting. The bangs in the front are also really pretty and give the hair a nice softness and movement. On this hair, the color looks really good because it has a lot of space to reflect light. Just as an fyi, reds and burgundies will fade faster than other colors so you will need to have a color shampoo to keep the color for a long period of time.

#25: Long Soft Layers That Move When You Do

I remember mentioning a similar cut on a person in this photo, and she texted me the day after saying she couldn’t stop flipping her hair, which is the best kind of feedback to get! To this cut, the layers are long and graduated, meaning it will swing around the head, giving a lot of movement without being choppy or too dramatic. It’s really going to suit an oval or heart shape face as the layers will fall around the jaw and with medium density hair, the bounce is excellent. The shine in the picture tells me the hair is healthy and that’s the best foundation to work with when cutting hair. Using a lightweight serum on the ends will keep it looking that good!

Sleek Long Cut with Subtle Rounded Ends
Instagram: nikol_plaskonis

#26: Sleek Long Cut with Those Perfectly Rounded Ends

Sometimes your hair just needs a good clean cut. Simple British standard rounded ends, a bit of healthy hair, clean ends, and no layers/highlights or methods. The cut should be blunt or a rounder sort of softer finish. If you’ve got medium or fine hair, the rounded ends should give it an elegant almost liquefied look. This type of haircut will also frame and elongate your face stunningly. It’s low maintenance as the look requires little to no effort in terms of styling, especially if your hair’s straight. For non-straightened hair, a good flat iron and patience will be required, but once you have it done, it will be so worth the time.

Textured Long Waves with Soft Curtain Bangs
Instagram: newtrend.hair

#27: Long Textured Waves with Curtain Bangs

I will always say yes to curtain bangs, because they really are the least risky bang commitment. Not only are they so versatile and suit so many people. Chances are they’ll work for you. With curtain bangs, the hair is cut to about face level, so blended into the layers, that you don’t feel like you have bangs at all. Instead, you’ll feel like you have a fab style that accentuates your gorgeous face. This style works best with medium to thick hair, as it creates more volumized, flowing waves that accentuate the layers. This is a look that will look just as good on day one as it will day two or three.

#28: Flowy Layers with Face-Framing Highlights

The highlights around the face create a soft, brightening look like when the sun catches and eases your hair. That’s what we want to achieve with face-framing highlights, and it gets spot on. The layers are medium length and flowy, the type that move when you walk, and they’re cut to create movement without adding bulk. With fine to medium hair, layered hair offers thickness, and combined with color, it also contributes visual interest. Shocking, right? This exquisite combination is likely cost effective. For as long as those highlights are kept fresh, the look stays current.

#29: Wavy Textured Bob with Warm Dimensional Color

This bob looks effortlessly styled, but we know how hard that is to achieve. It has a few loose and messy waves, and the warm highlights add richness to the hair without being stripy. The length being shoulder length is universally flattering and frames the face beautifully. Fine to medium hair works best because the texture and color give the appearance of fullness, and that is a look that never goes out of style. Those with round or oval face shapes will love this because the length and wave pattern provide a perfect balance.

Warm Brown Layered Cut with Flirty Movement
Instagram: comelyhubsalon

#30: Warm Brown Layers with a Little Flirtiness Built In

The warm brown shade is dynamic! I enjoy how it gradually shifts from deeper root tones to mid and end hues. Such a healthy and lively look! The playful movement is perfect – just past the shoulders with layers that splay out and catch the light. It brings the whole look to life. This is best suited to medium density hair. This gives just the right amount of weight for everything to look smooth at the top, and just the right amount of layering to get the bounce. Plus, this look transfers well from blowout to air-dried!

Softly Layered Long Waves with Subtle Highlights
Instagram: hairbyilsia

#31: Long Soft Waves with Highlights That Just Barely Show

These highlights may appear understated, but they do a lot of the heavy lifting. They add the right amount of contrast against the base color and help the waves reflect light at different levels, creating that super airy and natural multi-tonal effect. With medium to thick hair, the long soft layers provide volume without creating a puffed up look, and the waves are soft enough to appear natural even if they are not. If you want to achieve this sort of texture, a light mousse scrunched into damp hair and then diffused will get you pretty close.

Textured Short Shag with Soft Bangs
Instagram: cheerupsalon

#32: Short Textured Shag with Soft Bangs

I’m a fan of shortcuts because of the chill, lived-in vibe, plus the bangs on this style are done so well (really encapsulates the whole silhouette & adds a touch of romance). There’s also the fact that the layers throughout create volume & address the area fine hair needs it most. The deep brown hue brings warmth & grounding for the whole look. If you’re considering going short & worried it may be too harsh, this one is a great option. The softness aids in transitioning!

Soft Textured Waves with Subtle Ombre
Instagram: emeline_nyu

#33: Soft Waves with a Hint of Ombre Below the Shoulders

The ombre looks very subtle, almost as if it’s not an ombre at all. The ends seem to just lighten a little which is how hair would lighten from sun exposure. The soft, wavy texture contributes to the relaxed and effortless look. This style is great for someone who wants a low-maintenance look with an element of effortless sophistication. When styled into waves, fine to medium hair looks fuller. The ends create weight in the right places. You’ll definitely want a waves spray to keep those waves from crunching together. You can maintain this style without too much effort.

#34: Sleek High Ponytail with Big Bouncy Curls

I’m putting this in under cuts, though it could be a style. I think it’s nice to have a look to fit a certain brief, for example a ponytail this good deserves attention! The top is slicked back, creating that polished and put together look, while the curls at the bottom add all the drama and volume. If you have medium to thick hair, this style will really shine. You’ll have plenty of hair to create that bouncy full cascade effect. The secret to getting the top this smooth without the fly aways is edge control gel and a boar bristle brush. For the curls, use a medium barrel iron and a little bit of patience.

Modern Long Layered Cut with Soft Face-Framing Layers
Instagram: ashleyb.hair

#35: Long Layers with Soft Face-Framing Pieces

What catches my focus, in particular, is the overall natural effect. The absence of layers is evident, and the way a few pieces around the face dip under, combined with some movement at the ends gives a flowing effect without looking curled. This is the kind of cut I really enjoy and clients show me examples of, and I really enjoy it because it is very nice and balanced on many different people. The solid base colour is nice, but it could use some warm caramel balayage for more dimension. Honestly, it looks amazing just like that. This style is perfect for medium density hair.

#36: Long Sleek Layers with Subtle Dimension

This looks perfect for that “my hair looks this good effortlessly” vibe, right? The long blended layers avoid any hard, visible layers, providing you with hair that looks healthy, shiny, and has great movement. The highlights are woven in just the right amount to add dimension without being overly distracting. On finer to medium hair, this looks incredible because the layers generate volume, while the finishing keeps the ends from appearing thin. If you love long hair and want it to look sleek and contemporary, this is precisely the kind of cut you should be asking for.

#37: Soft Loose Waves with Dimension That Builds Quietly

What draws me in is the amazing color work. I admire the way it has been executed as there are subtle variations in color that give the impression that it is shifting and swaying with the hair. The level of depth it achieves is very difficult to accomplish without being overly done. Those soft waves will show the color that is different with every turn of the wave. On hair with a medium density and slight natural texture, it will be simple to maintain. For the best look, you will want to style it, but this cut has a lovely shape to it, even when it is just air dried.

Elegant Long Layers with Soft Bangs
Instagram: dyeharddani

#38: Long Elegant Layers with Soft Bangs That Blend In

These bangs look wonderful! They are taking attention away from the forehead and drawing attention more to the eyes, and they do blend into the rest of the cut nicely. The long layers have a bounce to them which tells me this hair is in really good condition, which is always the first thing I notice. Long layers are essential on thick hair especially because without them you just have a wall of hair that does nothing. The bangs are adding a youthful quality that I think is really flattering, and they’re the kind that grow out gracefully which is always my concern when someone asks for them.

Textured Short Bob with Soft Layers
Instagram: dannichauhanhair

#39: Short Textured Bob with a Tousled Finish

It’s a chin-length cut that is really hard to mess up, with soft layers and a tousled texture to give the cut enough personality so that it won’t take a ton of styling products and tools to create that look. On medium-density hair, the natural fullness looks effortless, and the length is just right to provide you a feel of a real change while not so short that you begin to wonder how to style short hair. It’s **versatile** in more ways than you can imagine because it won’t be one of those cuts that you can style in different ways, like curling and straightening, but it is one that you can just wake up with, and it’ll look a little different every day, and that’s completely okay.

#40: Edgy Pixie with Choppy Layers and Playful Highlights

When someone asks about a pixie, the first thing I mention is how the hair texture will affect the decision a lot. This really is a great example for fine hair. The choppy layers on top give the illusion of more density & movement. Adding highlights is always a great way to increase dimension and fullness. The sides are cut super short, and the top is left long enough to give you various styling options around this length. This is definitely a style that looks good with a bit of product – in this case a texturizing paste, worked through with your fingers.

Sleek Blunt Bob with Subtle Layering
Instagram: symo_ramona

#41: Sleek Blunt Bob with Movement That Stays Put

This bob is great for people who want a timeless hairstyle. A blunt bob on straight hair is about as dependable as it gets, and a few subtle layers adds some more movement so it’s not too stiff. For fine to medium hair, a blunt cut gives the illusion of more thickness, which is a trick that always works. If you have an oval or round face, this length will really accentuate that. This hairstyle is clean, classic, and appropriate for any occasion.

#42: Polished Lob with Gorgeous Shine

What makes this lob stand out is the shine. You could pull off this look with zero shine and it would still look good, but with shine it looks exceptional. The blunt ends are clean and modern, and the length is fresh, ending right above the shoulders. The straightened ends show off the health of the hair, and this length is very flattering on fine to medium hair, because and it has enough weight to lie smooth but not so much to go flat against your head. If you want this level of shine, a nourishing serum on damp hair before you blow-dry will make a huge difference. A gloss treatment every few months doesn’t hurt either.

Sleek Classic Bob with Soft Side Swept Bangs
Instagram: anahaircutt

#43: Classic Bob with Side-Swept Bangs and Rich Color

I appreciate the timeless nature of the bob style, and this iteration with soft bangs is particularly lovely. The bangs are a nice touch to soften the look without being too extreme, and the dark chocolate color deepens the richness of the cut elevating it to an expensive looking quality. For fine hair, this length and shape is really ideal as it gives a finished appearance with very little day-to-day upkeep. If your hair tends to frizz, use a smoothing cream before styling to ensure a flat and sleek look.

Textured Tousled Short Cut with Soft Layers
Instagram: cinta_salon

#44: Tousled Short Cut with Warmth in the Color

This hairstyle is confident and free because of the warm tones and messy finish. The soft layers give volume and movement where they are most needed. The wavy texture adds to the laid back feel that a complicated, structured hairstyle can’t offer. If you have medium hair density and some natural waves, this hairstyle will basically style itself. The warm tones in the hair also suit a range of skin tones and really pulls the look together.

#45: Wavy Bob with Caramel That Wraps Around the Face

Bob highlight styling involves face framing tones to draw light to the face. Combined with shoulder length waves, it creates an relaxed style that works for anything from a Monday morning meeting to a Friday night out. Both the bob highlights and the waves do a lot to create volumn and dimension. For this look it will be important to have an anti frizz serum to keep the defined waves and avoid a halo effect.

Choppy Pixie Cut with Soft Bangs and Subtle Layers
Instagram: dustywynn_

#46: Choppy Pixie with Soft Bangs and Lots of Texture

This is the pixie cut I would recommend to anyone wanting personality and style in their short hair. The top layers cut in a choppy way add movement and dimension while the soft bangs keep the style a bit more feminine. Overall, this cut is flattering for heart-shaped faces as it emphasizes the cheekbone area. This cut also looks best on fine hair as it really brings out the ideal textural effect that offers fullness to the hair. For a slightly tousled look, you’ll need to avoid a perfectionist mindset when it comes to making each piece look good. This is one of the best parts about a short cut. you’ll want to come in regularly to keep the style fresh. This cut requires maintenance every five to six weeks as pixie cuts lose their shape as they grow out.

Textured Short Cut with Soft Waves and Highlights
Instagram: hairabella.m

#47: Textured Short Cut with Waves and Highlights Near the Face

The wave design guides attention toward the face and enhances the overall look. The length rests just above the jaw line, so it is very flattering to oval and heart shaped faces. The face-framing highlights lighten up the overall look. Best of fine, wavy hair, this style requires minimal upkeep as it works with the hair’s natural texture. The right look can be achieved with a simple scrunch of product on wet hair and letting it air dry. However, if you have coarse or thick hair, this style might not give the same soft, wispy look.

Choppy Textured Pixie Cut with Soft Bangs
Instagram: nikitabamberger

#48: Choppy Pixie with Soft Bangs and Airiness

Having long hair can feel like a cut will make the hair look heavy, so I appreciate the pixie cut’s light look. Soft bangs never sag the face. The choppy effect adds playfulness to the style and also boosts volume. That extra volume isn’t possible with longer hair. If you want to color your hair, go for light highlights or a solid bold shade as they will suit this style really well. There’s enough movement and texture to display the color dimension well. I especially love the combo of short hair with a great color.

Textured Short Pixie Cut with Subtle Face-Framing Layers
Instagram: blacklambhair

#49: Short Pixie with Subtle Layers and a Soft Shape

It’s obvious why so many people consider this cut one of the most flattering options out there. The layers create texture and depth to the entire look without the bulk. For men with thinner hair, this is the look that will give the most volume because the layers will create movement rather than just sit flat. The softer face-framing pieces add to the femininity of the cut. The slight roundness to the shape of the overall cut keeps the look from being too harsh. This is a great option for anyone nervous about getting a first pixie cut.

Chic Textured Short Cut with Subtle Highlights

#50: Chic Short Cut with Highlights That Add Life

The warmth and dimension from the highlights will draw the eyes toward the face and top layers. The fine soft layers offer an un-stiff polished balance and shape. When it comes to fine to medium hair, this style is seriously the best for ease of transitioning from day to night and being low maintenance. The cut will basically take care of itself outside of needing a trim every six weeks. Highlights like this would be particularly gorgeous on a heart-shaped face.

#51: Textured Wavy Lob with Balayage That Looks Lived-In

This long bob is perfect for this dual-tone balayage. It gives a lived-in natural appearance, just like great balayage should. The waves are soft and deliberately feature just the right amount of texture to add movement and body. The layers are cut to add volume without losing length which is always the concern with lobs. This will be perfect for medium to thick hair as it will give the best contrast with the waves and color. This grow-out is going to be easy, meaning less time spent in the salon, more time between appointments.

#52: Soft Blonde Layers with Face-Framing Lightness

The blonde color here feels softer and warmer as opposed to platinum and icy, plus it is a nice golden tone that adds warmth without being too much. The face framing layers are lighter than the rest of the hair, and this gives a very natural brightening effect that is especially nice IRL. The layers in fine hair give movement and also help create the illusion of more volume, but fine blonde hair does take a bit more maintenance to avoid the flat look, and a root lifting spray applied pre blow dry does help a lot. The hair length is just below the shoulders, which gives good options for styling, and the additional weight means it won’t go all over the place.

#53: Shaggy Textured Lob with Warm Highlights

There is a casual, effortless look to the shaggy lob that is very desirable. This is achieved through layering. The natural waves and movement are enhanced by the warm highlights, providing dimension so the hairstyle does not look flat. Those with medium to thick hair will notice even more movement and body with this cut, no styling required! The shaggy texture is great for the grow out phase of the hair cut because you can avoid salon visits for a long time. It frames the face very nicely and has an beautiful, effortless quality.

#54: Long Soft Layers with Color That Builds Depth Gradually

This hairstyle integrates the layers so well that it is next to impossible to tell where one layer starts and another ends. The goal is to get a sort of highlight effect to add depth to the hair from the roots to the ends and the overall effect is very light and airy and creates a lot of movement throughout the hair. With this cut, fine and medium hair will feel particularly bouncy, which is usually the opposite of what people expect from long hair. The face-framing layers are so perfectly blended that they create an effect that the hair is just effortlessly doing something lovely around the jaw. If you want long hair without the weight or the flat look, this is a great choice.

#55: Effortless Short Cut with a Sun-Kissed Feel

The waves on the short haircut add so much life and volume to the hair that it looks like you have twice the amount. The highlights are intended to bring out the waves and give a sun-kissed appearance that makes you look fresh and healthy (especially in January). This hairstyle works with fine and medium hair because it gives the illusion of thickness and movement. It can look great with half the hair pulled up and even down. It is a great option for people wanting to look youthful and fresh without having a full pixie cut.

#56: Modern Beachy Bob with Clean Blunt Ends

I appreciate the way the soft waves in the hair contrast with the solid, straight line at the ends. It seems to find a happy medium between rigidity and looseness and achieves a contemporary essence that a lot of bobs don’t seem to obtain. When it comes to finer and medium textures, the clean blunt ends help to elevate the hair’s thickness while the waves enhance movement; this gives you the best of both worlds. The length is very adaptable, and the entirety of the appearance is effortless, which is such a compliment to the hairstyle. One thing to note is that you will need to keep up with those trims because the blunt ends do tend to look worn more quickly than layered ends!

#57: Textured Lob with Balayage That Grows Out Beautifully

When clients want a look that is easy to maintain and will continue to look great months down the road, I recommend this lob. The balayage is blended so beautifully that the grow-out becomes part of the design. As darker roots come in, they add depth. The soft waves give face-framing length and the texture on fine to medium hair gives an airy quality that stops it from falling flat. The effortless, pretty look is part of the point. This is one of the most low-maintenance ways to wear color.
