50 Youthful Hair Inspo These Women Over 60 Absolutely Love

A different perspective from a client is inspirational for me as she said, “I want to look like ME but better.” This statement relates best to the mindset of my other clients, particularly my clients in their 60’s. Some people hear this statement and suggest there is a certain way people will “age gracefully.” I would argue that age is just a number. It is about the right cut and color that gives the appearance of looking fresh and confident. It does come with an instant boost of self-esteem.

I have had a lot of different moments in my career and one that stands out is with a former judge who, if I remember properly, came in with the same cut since 1998. That was also around the time the song “Baby one more time” came out. It was not bad, but I am sure she would expect to view herself in a more contemporary way. The improvement after just a few changes was huge. It was seriously like night and day when she got new layers and a bit more warmth added to her color. She actually shed a few tears. That is the beauty of being a hair magician. It’s not about looking younger. It’s about being the version of yourself that is the real you.

I have some pretty strong opinions about hair, and I have never really kept this to myself. I am going to SHOW every single one of these looks because I have some pretty strong opinions on them.

Chic Blunt Bob with Soft Layers

#1: That Clean Blunt Bob with Just Enough Softness

Alright, I’m pretty sure this is going to be giving, “I have my life together and I didn’t even try that hard,” which is a total vibe. The layers are super subtle, but they are going to do a lot of lifting in terms of movement. This is going to be great for you if you have finer hair as it will look full and polished without the need for too much product and will defintely not require a blow dry. Just a heads up, you’re going to have to keep up with your trims every 6-7 weeks because a blunt bob with shaggy ends is a whole different vibe, and not the look we’re going for.

Soft Pearl Silver Chin-Length Rounded Bob with Wispy Micro-Bangs

#2 Pearl Silver Bob with Those Cute Little Wispy Bangs

The bob hairstyle and the little tiny bangs are such a great and soft look! The pearl silver color is also great! Looks a lot better than going gray, it looks intentional and gives off a bright vibe! The bangs are the most fun part about the hairstyle. To be honest, if you want to keep your bangs looking nice, you are going to have to get a trim every 3-4 weeks because bangs tend to do their own thing. If you have fine hair, I recommend getting some root shadow to give the look of a more volumized top, but this shape will do most of that work for you!

Rose Gold Textured Pixie with Feathered Fringe

#3 Rose Gold Pixie That Honestly Might Change Your Life

Everywhere you go, you will be turning heads! A pixie cut combined with a rose gold colour is one of the most creative combinations possible! This style will draw people to you at the grocery store. The feathered fringe look is soft and very fashionable. Lots of pre-lightening goes into achieving a rose gold colour, and it can take a long time if your hair is not already bleached. The rose gold colour will fade, so you will have to keep booking toning appointments to maintain that dreamy look. Achieving a piecey look will require a good styling paste, and will be very important to make this style look perfect!

Soft Feathered Pixie with Wispy Fringe and Lifted Crown

#4 Feathered Pixie with All That Beautiful Crown Lift

I can see what this cut will look like before I even take out my shears; you know what I mean? It’s going to be dreamy with the bangs and the crown height. The texture created by point cutting and soft razoring looks effortless but actually takes a lot of skill to avoid the cowlicks. The warm micro-lights woven in? Adds dimension without looking like you got highlights. If you’re thinking about this, the shape will require some regular maintenance. You won’t be able to just “grow it out” and see what happens.

Feathered Blonde Short Pixie with Long Side-Swept Fringe

#5 Blonde Pixie with That Long Sweepy Fringe

Some elements create a very special sensation, like the diagonal fringe line. This is a very flattering effect as it tends to draw the eye horizontally rather than vertically. Along with that, it forms a nice modern shape to the cut which gives some lift to your hair. Oval or heart shape faces will really benefit from this cut. The internal graduation at the crown gives height exactly where it is needed and the point cut ends help to alleviate the rigid helmet look. The blonde pixie cut looks oh so magical, but the color department could use some love because when it grows out it looks flat at the root and loses some of that magic. A root blend every three weeks will help keep that cohesive look.

Textured Copper Pixie with Feathered Fringe

#6 Copper Pixie with the Tiny Fringe, Yes Please

What do you think of this copper tone? A short textured pixie cut combined with a warm, copper colour is very energising. The micro fringe detail opens up the entire forehead, allowing your eyes to do all the talking. With cuts like these, I love the razor point technique as it allows for an airy, wind-swept effect that is not achievable with regular scissor cutting. The crown cowlick is actually working in our favour this time, which I just love! Vivid copper hair is high maintenance, to avoid brassiness you’ll need a gloss every few weeks, plus a texture paste for daily styling.

Short Curly Silver Pixie with Tapered Sides and Crown Lift

#7 Silver Curly Pixie That’s Basically a Crown of Ringlets

I’m glad I get to see this! The bright silver corkscrew curls are bouncy and classy. Plus, the hair’s ability to show both elegance and playfulness is pretty unqiue. The way the tapered sides are shaped really makes the cut feel clean and structured, letting the curls fall where they want. Natural hair texture like this is a HUGE bonus, so don’t take it for granted. This looks like a pretty low maintenance cut day to day, but you have to be super meticulous to get it just right in the salon. It’s completely right how the temple tapering can get really *weird* if they aren’t right. A curl defining cream and a diffuser will be super necessary, because the white/silver strands can get REALLY frizzy.

Cropped Silver Brush-Back Pixie with Long Side Fringe

#8 Brushed-Back Silver Pixie with That Longer Side Piece

This sounds like “I just ran my fingers through my hair and it landed perfectly”, which spoiler alert, requires some very deliberate chopping to pull off. The brush-back is super chic, and the longer side fringe gives you something to play with so it doesn’t feel too stiff. I love that this style is basically air-dry friendly most days, all you have to do is sweep the fringe, maybe a bit of product, and you’re done. But the clipper work at the nape has to be really clean, that’s where cheap haircuts show, and I will die on that hill. It’s not great for very coarse or curly textures because the brush-back won’t sit right, but for fine to medium straight hair? Perfection.

Soft A-Line Platinum Bob with Diagonal Side Sweep

#9 Platinum A-Line Bob with the Prettiest Side Sweep

I’ve lost count of how many compliments I’ve gotten on the A-line of this bob, especially on how it accentuates my jawline! It’s also so easy, and the diagonal part, plus the side-swept fall gives me just the right amount of asymmetry without tipping over into “look at me” drama. The internal graduation at the nape is super secret weapon material because it achieves that tucked-under finish without any of the daily hair sacrifices needed to get there. Just a round brush blowout with a little root lift at the crown and you’re golden. Platinum does grow out FAST though – Like you’ll definitely notice a difference within two weeks – so this color is a commitment.

Soft Rounded Chin-Length Bob with Subtle Crown Lift

#10 Rounded Chin-Length Bob with That Gorgeous Lived-In Color

I appreciate how well the color works with the style of the hair. The warm chestnut color with natural silver highlights and a shadow root means that you aren’t here every four weeks freaking out about regrowth. It just BLENDS. The style has a tiny front piece that is tucked back and reads as almost like a soft fringe but without being proper bangs, and that is genius for people who want that softness around the face but don’t want to have to get bangs. You are going to need a round brush to style this because that shape really comes alive with that smooth inward curve, so if you are an air dry only kind of gal, we need to talk options.

Feathered Copper Stacked Bob with Side-Swept Fringe

#11 Copper Stacked Bob, aka My Favorite Bob Structure

Built-in volume at the back of stacked bobs offers what most people are trying to get with products and prayers. The graduation through the back boosts the crown automatically, and the feathered side-swept fringe keeps the front soft and face-framing. This warm copper is rich and absolutely flattering! However, since copper is also the color that brass creeps into the fastest, I always recommend a gloss treatment in between full color appointments. The point-cut layering at the crown also assists if you’re dealing with mild thinning as it creates the illusion of density without adding weight. A lightweight texturizer is your friend here.

Chin-Length Rounded Bob with Warm Babylight Accents

#12 Chin-Length Bob with Babylights That Actually Look Natural

Wow, these babylights are super well done! They have a warm, sun-kissed glow that brightens up the entire face. The rounded shape of the bob gives it a classic and flattering inward flip at the ends, and that style never goes out of fashion. The internal graduation here gives you some crown lift without a ton of effort, and the point cut ends keep it from being too blunt and heavy. For daily styling, this look will definitely need a round brush, and as the babylights grow out, we’re going to want to blend some lowlight in there as we don’t want that stark root contrast.

Voluminous Brushed-Out Chin-Length Bob with Swept Fringe

#13 Brushed-Out Bob with That Perfect Outward Flip

I just have to say that a great blowout flip brings me so much joy. THIS is exactly what I’m talking about. The slight reverse along with the perimeter and interior graduation provide built-in outward movement — this is CUT into the hair, not just styled! On salt-and-pepper colors, this is so incredibly elegant! The root feathering and point-cut ends add lift and make it seem like you have double the hair. The flip will definitely need a round-brush blowout to really get it going though, so if you’re prepared to invest those ten minutes, the payoff is HUUUGE.

Sleek Graduated Chin-Length Bob with Internal Graduation

#14 Sleek Graduated Bob for the Polished Hair Person

If simplicity and a CLEAN look appeals to you, please take a seat because this is your cut. The internal graduation does such a great job at tucking those ends under and the zero degree blunt perimeter is super sharp. The micro texturizing at the temples is perfect because without it, this kind of precision bob can get super “news anchor helmet” really fast, and that cheek area softening makes a huge difference. This is a blow dry or flat iron cut though. If you let it air dry, it’s going to be a difference haircut completely. The point is, sleekness, so just keep that in mind going in.

Silver Angled Blunt Bob with Side-Swept Fringe

#15 Silver Angled Bob with a Lavender Secret

This piece of silver jewelry is unique. The silver has a lavender glaze which gives it a cool, icy effect. The angled blunt perimeter is great and the side swept bangs cover part of the face. ‘Internal point-cutting’ is a way to make it look more layered and less dense. The inward-curled ends that you’ll get from heat styling (like a round-brush blowout or flat iron) will require some extra time during your morning routine. If you want to maintain the color, you’ll need to get the lavender glaze touched up every 4-6 weeks, but it’s worth it for that color!

Chin-Length Graduated Bob with Soft Root Shadow and Curtain Sweep

#16 Graduated Bob with a Curtain Sweep That Just FLOWS

I love the curtain sweep. It’s the perfect length to frame the face and the movement is not too distracting. The internal graduation and layering create an inward flip, and the ends look effortless but intentional. When the hair has some wave to it, this cut is going to work with that texture, which I always love. The “root shadow” color situation is great for low-maintenance. As it grows out there won’t be harsh lines. We’re talking about a maximum of seven minutes for the curve to set, and then it’s a quick round brush job or warm air styler.

Textured Warm Chestnut Pixie with Micro Fringe

#17 Warm Chestnut Pixie with That Little Baby Fringe

The micro-fringe really adds to how great this pixie is! It makes the look go from a “short haircut” to “I love this and I did this on purpose!” The warm chestnut color with the babylights adds so much depth and richness to the hair. The texture of the crown is amazing and there is so much lift from the cut, and with a natural cowlick too! I love being able to work with a cowlick rather than against it. That top piece has a textured piece-y look from the styling paste I used, but with other products it could go a bit flat. The color will require some upkeep, but the cut is so easy to style. It’s literally a two minute style and you’re good to go!

Voluminous Stacked Chin-Length Bob with Subtle Babylights

#18 Stacked Bob with Mahogany Richness

I can say it with confidence, the milled mahogany base is STUNNING! Clear, warm, and rich, especially with lights that catch and sparkle inside. The stacked graduation at the back gives you crown volume and you don’t even need to work for it. The gentle, forward sweep at the front is a lovely face frame and let’s be real, it’s a round brush blow dry style. If you love blow drying your hair then you’re going to love this cut. If you don’t, we should look at the more wash and go options as the volume comes as much from the styling as the cut.

Rounded Layered Chin-Length Bob with Soft Side Sweep

#19 Rounded Bob That Looks Like a Pillow of Pretty Hair

Once while describing this to a client, I referred to “pillow hair” and she thought I was crazy. After some persuading, she said “Oh no, you’re right.” It’s that soft, rounded, bouncy quality. The hair just sits perfectly and looks full, healthy, and so touchable. The shape is created with interior graduation and point cutting the ends, and the warm chestnut with lowlights adds SO much depth. The side-swept fringe, falling along her natural part, means it’s not fighting against anything; it just falls. A quick round-brush blow-dry will be needed to achieve this shape; it’s not complicated, just necessary. A color gloss every few weeks will keep that warmth from fading.

Soft Face-Framing Layered Shoulder-Length Cut

#20 Shoulder-Length Layers with the Softest Face Framing

If you aren’t prepared to make an extreme change, **this is the cut for you**. The way these layers frame the face is phenomenal. They soften the jawline and blend beautifully with the silver strands, while the ends are light and feathered, giving some movement but not looking thin or wispy. I would slide cut the interior so that it doesn’t feel heavy, and those little temple micro-layers? They’re a game changer for the gray blend so it grows out grey and you can’t tell where your natural color ends. For the blow dry, use a round brush and flip the ends. For coarse textures, a hydrating serum will help control the frizz.

Warm Chestnut Long Layers with Soft Center Curtain

#21 Long Layers with a Center Curtain That Just Works

I love how the middle curtain opening is so flattering for the oval face, it brings such nice balance and symmetry, and frames it all really well. I love the color play here, it’s her natural chestnut with those silver strands working together and it looks intentional and GORGEOUS, not like she needs her roots done. The long inner layers provide good movement while still keeping the length, and the razoring at the ends is texturized so it doesn’t look too heavy/bulky at the bottom. This is a longer style so gravity is going to work against the cut. To help it out, a root lift product and smoothing blowout will really bring it to life. A demi-glaze for shine along with that will really get this from nice to WOW.

Warm Caramel Long Layers with Face-Framing Curtain Bangs

#22 Caramel Layers with Curtain Bangs I Want to Steal

I will try to be unbiased, but I love the curtain bang style. These bangs elevate the look, and while they may seem easy, there is a lot of planning and structure that goes into them. The warm caramel babylights add liveliness and warmth while the root shadow keeps the look from being flat. Fun detail: there is a hidden micro-layer behind the ear that helps the curl not get bunched up and turns bulky. That’s the kind of care that separates an okay from a great haircut. For the S-curves, you’ll need a large-barrel curling iron and some hold product.

Soft Shoulder-Length Blonde with Face-Framing Curtain Layers

#23 Blonde Shoulder-Length with That Silver Streak

What about that silver line down the middle? While most people try to hide it, I’m HERE for keeping it as a feature. A highlight you didn’t have to pay for! The long curtain layers and feathery ends create that soft, airy look, and the lowlights give just enough contrast that it doesn’t wash out. This is a really great cut for someone who wants a lot of movement without a lot of layers, because the layering is really strategic and minimal. But more is more here, because if the layers are placed poorly on finer hair, you get sad, wispy ends and nobody wants that. Period. The touch-ups keep the blonde from going brassy.

Long Feathered Silver Layers with Deep Side Part

#24 Long Silver Layers with a Deep Part I’m Obsessed With

A deep side part is often overlooked but it can be really effective. It creates instant volume to one side, and that gorgeous sweeping motion across the forehead is really complimentary. A light point cutting/texturizing at the ends adds some fluffle without taking away any length, just what you want to keep longer hair (past shoulder length) and finer hair. Natural root shadow and lowlights give depth without any solid harsh lines. I will say longer silver hair can show thin ends more than shorter cuts so it is imperative to be on top of regular dusting to take away the see-through ones. A light cream styler and purple shampoo to tone will be your two essentials here.

Soft Layered Silver Shag with Subtle Face-Framing Layers

#25 Silver Shag That’s Giving Me Cool Aunt Energy

I call this hairstyle the “cool aunt” cut because it is effortless and chic. It shows you put thought into your appearance, but isn’t too dressy. The layers that frame your face at about cheekbone level are very flattering, as is the length that grazes the shoulders. With this length, you can also pull your hair back. The shag makes the style look modern, and helps to achieve the “I didn’t put anythought into my hair” look. If you have fine hair, this cut adds layers that make your hair look much fuller. To maintain the messy look, you might have to wash your hair less and it is worth it to put in the effort and used. A texturizing spray helps achieve that bedhead look.

Voluminous Copper Face-Framing Layers

#26 Copper Layers with Serious Crown Lift

That beautiful copper color looks stunning on her, and the volume at the crown from those face-framing layers adds an extra bouncy and youthful look. The feathered ends avoid the bottom-heavy appearance that can happen with longer hair in warm tones that seems dense and flat. The subtle root shadow adds depth and disguises regrowth so you don’t have to panic every three weeks about your roots showing. This is a blow dry style to be honest. Those layers need to be round brushed to get that lift and movement. For copper to look great, it has to be a single process color with hidden lowlights to keep it looking dimensional.

Textured Pixie Cut with Subtle Highlights

#27 Textured Pixie with Highlights That Catch the Light

Though we can’t put our finger on it, pixies and face-framing highlights just go. This look was made for the pixie cut, with soft layering created movement and volume, and highlights are placed to reflect light around the face. This look will be more beneficial than a longer style for those with fine hair, because a shorter pixie will create the most density. I remind a lot of my clients who fear the chop, it grows! Especially if we do regular trims every 4-5 weeks. Growing out a pixie cut unevenly will go from chic to shaggy in no time!

Soft Textured Bob with Gentle Waves

#28 Textured Bob with Gentle Waves That Look Effortless

If you have natural waves in your hair, then you know how fun it is to fight the texture. This bob is a great example of working with your hair texture. The chin-length layers fall perfectly to make the hair look full and healthy. The subtle layering combined with waves is more movement than hair that has been straightened with a flat iron. Soft and natural hair always looks very expensive. If your waves need a little help you can just throw on a wave enhancer and scrunch. That’s really all you will need for a great look.

Chic Blunt Bob with Soft Fringe

#29 Blunt Bob with a Fringe That Softens Everything

Fringes are a great way to soften your overall style, and without a soft fringe, every blunt bob can look very harsh. Having a softness to the overall look can make it more approachable. The blunt bob looks best on straight, fine hair. Without layers, it will look clean, polished, and unbothered. If you’re looking to make a change without going too far, this is the haircut for you. Think of it as your hair, but elevated. To keep the look fresh, be sure to make appointments every six weeks to maintain the blunt ends. You’ll need to do a little fringe trim in between to keep it looking sharp and then you’re good to go!

Defined Curly Shag with Soft Volume

#30 Curly Shag That Lets Your Texture Be the Star

I hope all my curly girls who have been using heat to straighten their hair for years take a look at this cut and rethink everything. The shag shape is amazing for curls because it disperses the volume so it doesn’t all get built up at the bottom, and those framing curls at the jaw level are gorgeous. The layers add defintion without breaking up the curl pattern — that’s what people miss most when getting a curly cut, and it’s vital. The cut will do a lot of the styling for you once you figure out your product routine, but make sure to get a good curl cream for anti-frizz because curls and frizz go hand in hand.

Textured Short Pixie Cut with Soft Volume

#31 Short Pixie with That Airy, Textured Top

The volume of this pixie is what sets it apart. The lift is just enough to look completely natural, while still being neither flat nor poofy. The shorter sides add to the longer face and the modern quality of the textured top keeps it from looking “done” too much. This is going to offer you so much more visual fullness than you’re going to expect from something this short, particularly if you have fine to medium hair. The piece-y, effortless look can be achieved within two minutes with a texturizing spray. Simply spray and scrunch for a quick and easy finish.

Playful Curly Bob with Soft Volume

#32 Curly Bob That Bounces When You Walk

The best curly bobs will make you want to toss your head to show off that gorgeous curl movement and this is definitely the best choice for that! The ideal length is just above the shoulders because that is where the curls will spring up and frame your face. Plus, if your hair is fine, the curls will give the illusion of a lot more hair, which is a great bonus! You will also have the option of wearing this curly one day and straightening it the next. I respect a stylist who goes with the mood and is free to change it up as they please! Keeping the curls looking fresh will require a little more effort, but the good news is you just need a lightweight mousse or cream to define those curls!

Soft Curly Lob with Warm Copper Highlights

#33 Curly Lob in Warm Copper That Looks Like Autumn

Every time I see warm copper on curls, I think of the prettiest fall day. I know I don’t owe any apologies for being so poetic about this hair color. The way the copper catches light through the pattern of the curls adds an incredible amount of dimension that flat color just can’t replicate. Hair that grazes the shoulders is great for curls because they have enough space to bounce without getting weighed down. This length works best on medium- to thick hair because you need enough density to support those curls without them falling limp. The styling part is where you’ll invest your time – curls this defined need some product love and probably a diffuser session – but the result is SO worth the effort.

Chic Curly Lob with Soft Volume

#34 Curly Lob with Volume That Looks Like You Have Twice the Hair

The volume looks amazing on this curly lob! It has subtle layers to give it shape as well. Without these layers, the curls would just sit there and look boxy and we definitely don’t want that! With this style the soft curls also create a romantic and effortless feel. The length is enough to give you hair that can be pulled up or pinned back for versatility. If your hair is medium density, this style will make it look like you have more. One last thing about curly hair is that it can take some maintenance to keep the frizz under control. An anti-frizz serum and a leave-in conditioner will keep your hair looking neat!

Classic Short Textured Cut with Gentle Lift

#35 Short Textured Cut with Copper Warmth

I like the combination of a warm copper color with a short textured cut since they create a great energetic and sophisticated vibe. The soft layering is just perfect, as it gives the lift with no overdone look. The warm color tones brighten the face, unlike the warm colors and as skin tones change with age, it makes a lot of difference. I appreciate a color that does some of the work FOR you. It does work for you- You’ll need some product for volume, a volumizing mousse at the roots works great, but the actual styling time is minimal which makes this a really practical choice.

Softly Textured Shoulder-Length Waves

#36 Shoulder-Length Waves with Movement for Days

I love these soft waves, especially how they change every time you move your head. The medium density lets the waves move without geting in each other’s way. The soft face framing layers look natural and relaxed. The versatility in this cut means it will look great air dried with some added texture, defined waves will require heat styling. A good hydrating serum is the difference between your waves looking fresh, bouncy, and crunchy versus flat. That’s the difference between my hair is wavy and my hair is beautiful and wavy.

Modern Soft Bob with Subtle Layers

#37 Soft Bob with Layers That Move Like Silk

Here, the bob has been done with soft, subtle layering, which allow the hair to move more freely, creating a natural flow to the cut, as if each piece of hair knows its position. The shoulder-length cut as a cohesive look to the style with the soft, face framing layers that blend in to avoid any striking steps or lines. It really does suit every occasion and requires little styling. I would recommend this cut to clients that want to look polished without the need for an excessive styling routine. To keep the soft layers in the cut looking good, it will require regular trims to avoid an uneven grow out, as this will diminish the overall look of the cut.

Elegant Soft Waves with Long Layers

#38 Long Layers with Waves That Enhance Your Natural Silver

I appreciate the use of gray and silver tones in this cut. The blending is done beautifully and lets the natural color variations show through instead of covering it all up with one solid color. Natural waves and their face framing effect give your hair more volume and style without the need to use lots of products. If you have an oval or heart shaped face, this haircut will highlight those cheekbones and look amazing. You will give off a strong ‘I have fabulous hair and it just happens to be silver’ look. Some styling effort will be required to achieve this and a round brush along with a root lift spray will do the trick but the final result is definitely worth it.

Chic Textured Pixie with Soft Volume

#39 Textured Pixie That Looks Fresh and Fun

This pixie cut looks cute and it brings out a youthful spirit! The soft volume on top, combined with some gentle highlights, creates texture and dimension. Those highlights will catch your eye from every angle. The face-framing layers soften the overall shape, so the cut never looks harsh or masculine. I know that is a concern a lot of clients have when considering a pixie cut for the first time. But once you join the pixie club, you most likely will never leave! Styling is so easy, and with the cut, you only need to get trims every 4-5 weeks. Once the shape is set, you do not have much versatility to change the look, but most pixie cut converts never look back.

Softly Layered Bob with Gentle Face-Framing Highlights

#40 Layered Bob with Highlights That Add Warmth Without Overdoing It

These highlights are strategically placed and rather than being spread thin, they are focused in areas where they will make an impact. Face-framing and light-catching highlights through the top really make a difference and that is what separates a good highlight job from a great one. The finer the soft layers, the more movement it creates, as well as the appearance of increased volume. Overall, the shape is extremely flattering for almost all face shapes, which is why I enjoy recommending bobs like this. The layers in this haircut are going to require more maintenance than a one length bob to keep them in shape and properly blended. However, the warmth and dimension from this kind of colour work is definitely worth the maintenance.

Chic Textured Short Cut with Soft Layers

#41 Short Textured Cut That’s Basically a “Cool Mom” Cut

Those lovely soft layers framing the face and the warm light brown color with subtle highlights looks spectacular and gives an effortless chic vibe. I especially like to comment on the neck lengthening effect this style gives and I encourage clients considering going shorter to take that benefit into account, because so few people consider it until it is pointed out to them. The un-textured evenness keeps it modern and avoids that dated feel flat feel that short cuts tend to have. You may need a root boost volumizing product for fine hair and a touch of color for dimension is always a good idea if your natural color is looking a bit flat.

Textured Short Curly Cut with Soft Volume

#42 Short Curly Cut That’s All About the Bounce

The subtle layering on the cut’s crown gives it depth and movement, guaranteeing the curls look controlled; it’s a difficult balance to strike with short curly cuts. The curls also give the face a nice, open frrame and the additional volume is playful and fun for this age group. If you have been hesitant to cut your curly hair, this is your motivation. Good layering is what separates good curls (the ones that sit well) from hair that puffs out to the side. Once you establish your routine, you will find style time is no trouble at all, and yes, it is completely worth it to invest in curl specific products.

Textured Shoulder-Length Waves with Soft Layers

#43 Shoulder-Length Waves with Layers That Don’t Look Layered

I love blended layers that create a soft movement effect in the hair. It looks like the hair has been styled in the most natural way. The face framing layers are really nice and add a bit of modern touch to the look in a simple way. This works really well for medium to thick hair as the layers control the weight of the hair without looking sparse at the ends, something I see way too often with over layering. There is some styling to keep the waves polished but the haircut is low maintenance for the style.

Classic Rounded Bob with Subtle Volume

#44 Rounded Bob in Rich Chestnut

I love bobs and this one looks warm and polished in the rich chestnut color. The chin-length perfectly frames the face and on fine hair it finishes soft and airy, without looking flat. This is the sort of style where the shape does all the work, so there is little left to do in the mornings – just a quick blow dry to straighten it and you’re done. But trims are super important because when a bob starts growing out past its sweet spot, the whole silhouette changes and it looks less polished.

Chic Textured Bob with Soft Volume

#45 Textured Bob with That Light, Airy Quality

The gentle layers of this bob to the chin create movement and gives fine hair more life and is far more interesting. It gives that undone, modern look that is so flattering, and keeps it from looking heavy or blunt. The soft airy texture stops it from looking too heavy. Thicker hair may need more maintenance trims since it can get bulky. The shape depends on a lot of precision. A subtle balayage transforms it from nice bob to wow great hair because the color investment adds visual depth. It is worth it.

Chic Textured Short Cut with Soft Curls

#46 Short Textured Cut with Soft Curls in a Fun Color

The curls and texture on this cut give it a lot of personality and the color is expressive as well. The layering creates volume where it’s needed and works with the curl pattern, which is always the goal. The bright color makes the whole look pop, but remember, vivid colors are HIGH maintenance. Expect touch-ups every few weeks, use only color-safe products, and talk to your stylist about protecting the integrity of your hair. This is a bold look but, if you love the color and the maintenance that comes with it, it’s a great look!

Chic Textured Copper Pixie Cut

#47 Copper Pixie That Radiates Warmth

The copper color on this pixie is **everything**!!! And the way it adds warmth to the entire face is gorgeous. The short length opens up the whole face and draws the focus to the eyes which is one of my favourite aspects about pixie cuts. The subtle layers add some movement without losing the clean lines of the cut and on fine hair this creates enough texture that it never looks flat. You do need to keep up with this shape because pixies grow out fast and unevenly so regular appointments are a must. But styling time? Like two minutes. Honestly, probably less. Best trade-off.

Chic Wispy Pixie Cut with Textured Layers

#48 Wispy Pixie with Textured Layers in Light Blonde

The stunning pixie cut features wispy hair that makes the whole look soft and airier. This is an excellent quality on hair that is finer. The light blonde framing is wonderful because it brings a lively and lifted look to my clients’ faces. The length at the nape creates a nice feminine vibe, and the shape of the cut shows off the natural texture so that the look is soft and fluffed rather than stiff. nnLighter shades of blonde do need to be touched up more often than darker colors, unfortunately, that is the living truth of blonde hair maintenance, so I would recommend that you plan around it. However, the overall look is definitely worth it! In the meantime, use purple shampoo to keep your hair from going warm.

Chic Textured Short Cut with Lively Volume

#49 Textured Short Cut with Volume That Moves

The soft layers around the crown do what they’re supposed to do, giving lift where gravity goes down. This style creates really nice proportions on an oval or round face. The great thing about the texture is that it is manageable. It’s the right amount of styled, and right amount of undone. It’s in that sweet spot where it looks like you have naturally beautiful hair. If you think this cut needs more a subtle warm color will really enhance it, but the shape really speaks for itself. Some round brush styling, or just finger scrunching while drying will keep the texture current.

Chic Shoulder-Length Waves with Warm Auburn Tones

#50 Shoulder-Length Auburn Waves That Glow

The warm auburn shade reflects highlights beautifully in any lighting, and the soft waves create an overall rich and shiny effect. It is a shoulder length style which sits in that universally flattering area where the hair length is just right – not too long that the waves and curls are weighted – yet long enough so that many versatile styles can be created. The rich depth of auburn fine hair appears thicker than it really is, and because warm colors are chosen, the nice side effect of this color choice is a thicker appearance. The waves do require some maintenance, whether that is defining and holding products, touch up curls, and color maintenance for auburn. The warm and glowing finish is very hard to resist and so for this reason it is very difficult to say no to this look.
