Let’s dive into some neutral partnerships. Are you looking for a style that is simple to maintain? If you’ve always wanted shorter hair and styled up to a bob, let me share with you a small, lesser-known trick most stylists won’t share with you. I will ALWAYS have a special admiration for bobs. I remember just last week, I had a customer who I’ve been seeing for 12 years! Of course, she would always do the same routine long layers with the same ‘just a trim’ cut, but I was able to get her to take the plunge with a bob. She left looking completely different and it wasn’t that her face changed. It was that her hair was keeping her from showing off her true bone structure. That is the power of a good bob.
As most of you know, bobs are one of the most versatile looks to get, and quite frankly, most people completely misinterpret them. A stacked bob and a blunt bob are probably about as similar as a pixie cut and waist-length extensions. A bob can be defined in a number of different ways on an individual basis for each person. In saying that I am showing you some simple bob looks, I am saying they are completely able to be worn, and not some random picture of a model looking cute with the proper lighting. I’m looking forward to seeing these looks on everyone who sits in the chair tomorrow, so I will tell you my exact ideas!

#1: Textured Tied Back Short Bob
I like this one. The back tie gives off this vibe that says, \”I put zero effort into this and got dressed in 30 seconds\”. But the layers underneath are textured, so this doesn’t end flat. If fine hair is your plight and you’re tired of everything going limp by noon, this is your frock. A light mousse at the roots and you’re good. I really like this for the rest of us who just want to look really put together.

#2: Textured Layered Bob with Soft Caramel Highlights
I love where the caramel highlights are placed; they catch the light beautifully around the face and aren’t TikTok “money pieces.” However, the layers are what seal the deal; they do so much more. The layers give volume to fine hair instead of making it hang there looking sad. The color will get warm and brassy, so you may want to get a bang trim and refresh the highlights; with this cut, you don’t need to style it. I’ve done this shape on at least a hundred clients, and it has worked almost every single time because it’s universally flattering.

#3: Textured Wavy Bob with Subtle Highlights
Waves in the hair are what make this style great. Not just any hair waves will make this style work, but any waves will make this style work. It looks like one of those cuts with good flow that you just happen to wake up with. The waves are perfect. They are so good that they feel alive, and are not too much to the point where they are too much to handle. For this look to be how you want it, this gives the waves the best chance to last all day because otherwise, there is almost no chance the waves will make it to lunch. It will be worth the time for how good this style will be because the hair waves will make this look good. It is actually hard to get this look so that is the opposite of how this looks.

#4: Sun-Kissed Golden Layered Bob
The transition from dark roots to blonde demonstrates the most effort and the most understanding about the grow-out. That darker root means you can space your salon visits out more, because being completely blonde would necessitate closer visits, and I wish people were more appreciative of this before going platinum. Most of the subtle layers will allow the hair to hold its shape as it grows, and the collection really has that relaxed California vibe that I often recommend to clients who want blonde but are afraid of the upkeep conversation. Just a reminder that blonde is blonde, so expect to use purple shampoo and to have a toning appointment regularly.

#5: Classic Mocha Bob with Natural Sheen
I wish I could show my many brunette clients photos of this rich and beautiful mocha tone because it helps fight the stigma of “brunettes being boring” and leaning into the richness of one’s natural color, instead of fighting it, is something that I wish more clients would get on board with. The single-length jawline cut may look simple but it takes precision and control that I can assure you is worth the work. Unfortunately, this haircut is for people who can keep up with their trims because it can look less polished if you leave it too long. This is as close to wash-and-go as it gets for people with naturally straight or slightly wavy, medium density hair and people are going to be so jealous of you if you get it.

#6: Refined Espresso Wavy Bob with Side-Swept Bangs
Side bangs are doing something really specific — they help to break up the face length in a way that feels overcorrected with full bangs. I’ve done this exact cut on clients with longer face shapes, and I’ve seen them instantly feel the change in the mirror. Everything felt radial and proportionate to them, and they couldn’t even explain why. The espresso brown is as deep as it goes, and for brunnets, it’s low maintenance. If your hair has any sort of natural wave at all, you’re already halfway there, just invest in a good hydrating mask. Waves need moisture to behave, and you’ll love living in this cut.

#7: Charming Chestnut Mid-Length Bob with Swooping Layers
The swooping layers take this style from “standard bob” to a cut you’ll actually get compliments on. The layers add soft movement and frame your hair beautifully. Chestnut is one of those colors I will always advocate for because it works on basically every skin tone, and it doesn’t scream “I just left the salon”. It looks like you have really beautiful hair. The length is at that sweet spot where you can still pull it back if you need to. It looks intentional when it’s down. You will want to get it reshaped every six to eight weeks to keep those layers doing their thing.

#8: Subtle Ash Blonde Graduated Bob with Soft Fringe
This style has many little details to pay attention to. Tucking the ears gives off a relaxed look and draws the focus to the the asymmetry of the style. The fringe also gives a little grace to the style, and can grow out if bangs aren’t really your thing. The ash blonde is stunning, but I’ll be honest and say that ash tones can be very involved. Ash tends to pull warm on most people, meaning you’ll have to be very specific with your toner appointment and at-home products to keep your hair looking cool. If you want to keep that, the end result will be an incredibly classy modern look, and I do believe that is the kind of effort that will be rewarded.

#9: Autumn-Inspired Stacked Bob with Multi-Tonal Strands
Th haircut is unique because of the volume in the back. It’s part of the actual design of the cut. And what a color job it is! The layers of deep red and warm blonde are paint store display typical, but in this case, it’s a good example of a commitment. You will need to come in for frequent trims to keep the stacked shape and regular color touch ups. This haircut is designed for medium to thick hair that just sits there. This gives the hair purpose and personality.

#10: Sleek Espresso Bob with Precision Fringe
The chin length blunt cut with bangs is very daring and only suitable for people with thick and straight hair. This hairstyle really relies on the weight of your hair. Your stylist is definitely going to be showcasing their skills with the blunt cut. The bangs sit right on the brow with little room for mistakes so if you are not one for regular trim appointments, this is your first and final warning; you will be getting many trims to keep this looking sharp. This hairstyle is definitely going to stand out and will look awesome with some upkeep!

#11: Modern Chestnut Bob with Natural Flow
This style has a lovely soft melting effect, and I appreciate that there are no harsh lines anywhere. The way the hair melts into the nape looks really organic, and that is something not commonly seen with bobs. The chestnut shade is a warm color that does not cross over into the red territory, which makes for a more balanced look. The length of this cut just passes the chin meaning that on lazy days you’ll be able to tuck it behind your ears and your’ll avoid the “I just have long hair” feeling when hair gets too long. The good news is that it looks amazing with so little effort and even a little bit of natural texture, meaning you’ll be able to spend less time styling and more time actually getting out the door.

#12: Sleek Black Asymmetric Bob with Natural Movement
I love asymmetric bobs because they take a certain level of commitment. With this style, you really have to lean into one side being longer than the other, and this one really does the trick. The longer side, which sweeps across the jawline, is super flattering for those of you with a broader face shape. The shorter side helps to break up the entire style and ensures it doesn’t look too heavy. It can be worn straight, or with a slight wave to keep it looking fresh, but it really depends on you to keep up with those trims. If you aren’t keeping the angles fresh, it will start looking like a bob gone wrong. But when it is fresh? It’s untouchable.

#13: Chic Short Bob with Delicate Bangs
The elegance of a blunt cut sits perfectly above the jawline, as well as the sliced bangs that give an illusion of being a little angsty and rebellious. It isn’t crazy or a forced cut, but a stunning and simple bob. This hairstyle works best on fine to medium hair textures, as it gives the best illusion of fullness without having to rely on layered cuts, making it low effort. The only maintenance is to ensure the ends are kept blunt, so you will have to go in for a trim every 5 to 6 weeks to keep the hair looking fresh.

#14: Classic Chestnut Bob with Sleek Bangs
Shoulder-length bobs are a timeless cut, and the bangs make it classic and not costumey, while the chestnut color helps avoid that issue even further. For those wanting to do something stylish while remaining within the conservative look rules of the workplace, this is polished without effort. If you’ve got straight hair this should be a quick dry-and-go style. But if you have thick and/or curly hair, be prepared to wage war each morning unless you are a daily flat iron kind of person. But if you’re going for it, you need the confidence to back it up.

#15 Dynamic Duo-Tone Sharp Bob with Precision Bangs
This is quite an adventurous hairstyle. The stark split between dark brown roots and bright blonde highlights makes for a very eye-catching look, while the prominent edges of the cut contribute even further to its clean finish. It will most definitely take a brave person to wear this hairstyle. Fitting this hairstyle means a lot of self-assurance and confidence, and you’re bound to grab the attention of everyone in the room. Bangs complete the look, so make sure you see an extremely careful stylist to get them done. This is the kind of hairstyle you want to get from a very skilled stylist because the contrast really is strong. Therefore, you will need to touch up your roots again soon after you get the look to ensure it stays fresh. This hairstyle demands commitment— frequent trips to the salon are required for root touch ups and toning. This hairstyle is very current, so if you want something fashionable and enjoy salon visits, it will be well worth the effort.

#16: Vibrant Magenta and Deep Espresso A-Line Bob
I enjoy the pleasing geometry of an A-line cut. A-line cuts are shorter in the back and longer in the front, which creates nice visual momentum that photographs really well. It’s also bold to mix magenta with a deep espresso base, and I’m all about it. I need to manage your expectations, though, because in fashion, vivid colors fade fast. Before your next appointment, plan to use a color-depositing shampoo, and magenta will need more than a few refreshers. The cut is low-maintenance, so the sleek styling that shows off every angle is nice. I think this color is a showstopper if you can keep up with it.

#17: Textured Chocolate Bob with Soft Waves
The chocolate shade is so beautiful, you would think it was done in a fine Italian espresso. The waves also soften the look, so it doesn’t read too harsh. I have intentionally placed this cut on my round face clientele because the length in combination with the wave pattern gives the face the illusion of length. This is one of those “tricks” that sounds so fake, but then you see it in the mirror and it is a whole different story. For my natural wavers, you just need to put a wave cream in and let it dry. If you are straight, you are right. If for any reason, you have to put in the work, it will all be worth it.

#18: Fiery Red Precision Bob with Blunt Bangs
This color is definitely not passive! The fade from bright red to cherry deep red is something that either calls to you, or it doesn’t. If it calls to you, don’t let anyone change your mind! The blunt bangs with precise cut give a whole editorial vibe. It’s like you stepped out of a magazine and decided to go to the supermarket. This cut looks best with medium to thick hair. That density will hold the ends blunt without looking wispy. It will definitely be worth it every time you go to the salon for the maintenance. Keeping this color will be a big commitment because reds fade the fastest. But it’s worth it!

#19: Soft Pastel Pink Bob with Blunt Bangs
Last summer, I did a pastel pink on a client, a 53-year-old woman who had never colored her hair before. She came in with a picture almost the same as the end result. You could tell she was really nervous. When she turned around to see the mirror, she gasped. That reaction perfectly describes how this color is, playful but not childish, bold, but not in your face, and the blunt bangs add a really cute doll effect that is really nice on more round face shapes. Of course, the color will fade, especially with pastels, and that is the nature of the beast. So you’ll need to get used to a softer version between appointments, but if you want to lighten your load in between, you can invest in maintenance products. I really love this recommendation and even with the impact alone, I have to say it’s one of my top faves.

#20: Pristine Straight Bob with Subtle Bangs
With a fresh bob cut you can appreciate its honesty and beauty. There’s no need for extra levels or color or extensions. Also, those bangs “suggest” a statement. If you want to grow them out, go for it! I love the way this looks with lower density kind of hair. Everything gets a bit more bulky and ethereal. When it’s all aligned and intentional you will need to have straightener to get it like that. But honestly this is about as low maintenance as you can get.

#21: Deep Chestnut Rounded Bob with Cascading Layers
The rounded silhouette offers a completely different energy than a typical blunt or angled bob. This style feels softer and more enveloping, as if the hair is hugging the face. The cascading layers also help avoid the helmet look that rounded shapes can create if the layers are not done just right. The deep chestnut brown is interesting at the roots because it is not a shadow root and is not quite a balayage. It is something in between that adds depth and dimension without an obvious technique. This shape is stunning and almost self-styling for medium to thick hair, but just be sure the roundness won’t add to the fullness of your face if that is a concern.

#22: Effortless Blonde Graduated Bob with Face-Framing Layers
The graduation on this cut is so slight that you may miss it initially, but it’s what provides this cut with that structured lift that a one-length bob lacks. The framing layers are blended just enough so that they don’t separate from the rest of the hair, but do create a soft narrowing around the cheekbones, which is beautiful on everyone. The blonde is a shade that most people can manage without crazy regrowth, and that is something I factor in when I recommend a color. What’s the point in gorgeous hair if it stresses you out in between appointments? Ideally straight to slightly wavy hair will be best with this, and if you keep your trims up, this will be one of those cuts that looks good no matter how long it’s been since you styled it.

#23: Polished Inverted Bob with a Feathery Finish
A back-angled bob gives instant style, and this one does it particularly well. The floaty finish at the ends means it’ll be softer which is the problem I have with a lot of inverted bobs, using too much blade or not enough. For medium to thick hair this shape will hold everything for itself all day and most clients are genuinely surprised when it does frame the jawline. The only issue is inverted bobs grow out faster than you realize because that back length catches up to the front so you’ll want to stay on top of your appointments. Newly trimmed back-angled bobs also have one of the sharpest shapes you can wear.

#24 Playful Platinum Disconnected Bob
What makes this bob unique is the undercut. It changes how the top section falls and creates more movement. The platinum chop is more contrasted on finer hair and makes the texture stand out more. This look gives off great ‘effortless’ vibes and the undercut needs to be intentional or it will look discarded. Platinum is also a high maintenance color and you will require some bond-building treatments.

#25: Chic Wavy Chestnut Bob with Subtle Highlights
This wave uses the perfectly imperfect technique that creates the illusion of having happened organically. And to be honest, that’s the whole point of the artistry. The chestnut base with woven highlights creates just enough dimension to where you don’t need to do much to it because the color already creates visual movement. This is one I’d recommend to anyone medium to thick hair wanting something that looks intentional on day 1 and still looks nice on day 3. If you have fine hair, or if it’s naturally straight, you will probably need a texturizing spray, a wand, and what I would guess is 3 hours of your life to get something that probably looks acceptable but will definitely motivate you to want to pay me to do it. It just takes a little more coaxing.

#26: Sleek Jet-Black Bob with Precise Bangs
We love how clean this is; clean liner, clean color, clean bangs. It gives very “I have my life together vibe,” and honestly, this is sometimes the vibe the haircut is going for. The jet-black color gives a very healthy and natural look so you don’t need any color. The chin-length cut with softly rounded tips adds softness to the look and the already soft look adds to the softness again. The bangs look so good that they need regular touch-ups like every two, or touch-up bangs, or three weeks, but the rest of the cut is so chill that it evens it out. This looks expensive for the little effort it takes on a daily basis.

#27: Softly Tousled Black Bob with Natural Waves
I appreciate the haircut seen here because the natural waves of the hair are encouraged and appreciated, rather than being slicked back each day. It is excellent for the style. Leaving the hair styled as it is, gives such an free and wavy vibe, and fully gives the no fuss look without all of the fuss. The most flattering place for volume to sit is around the chin, and it is especially ideal for people with round and oval face shapes. The hair most probably won’t change too much in a humid environment. For those people, humidity resistant spray is a must. Other than that, it requires close to no maintenance.

#28: Sleek Midnight Black Angled Bob
The angle here is noticeable enough to be appreciated, but not to the point where it is outdated, which is a tightrope that many angled bobs do not walk correctly. The midnight black is doing amazing things with light, every reflective part is alive and the hair looks so healthy. This cut was made for thick hair because the density exactly fills the angle and gives it structure without it flopping. You will need to be comfortable with a flat iron to achieve this sleekness, that inner curl at the ends is purposeful and takes the hair from “I straightened my hair” to “I styled my hair” which are two completely different things. A black color is also nice because it doesn’t show roots like a lighter one would, so color maintenance is pretty forgiving.

#29: Choppy Layered Beachy Bob
I appreciate the unevenness of your choppy cut. I mean, it totally adds to the aesthetic, and lets be honest, so much better than the overly polished bobs. The cut looks like it was deliberately done to achieve that beachy, messy look that everyone uses hot tools and spends WAY too much money to achieve. Great cut does the trick! Your balayage looks spectacular! Also, great news; it means less maintenance on your part, because with even growth your hair is going to look less obvious and more graceful, Absolutely ideal for finer hair! The layers add volume and make it look so much fuller. Just keep in mind that if you want to maintain this look you’ll need to stay on top of your trims. Otherwise, it’ll look more “neglected” than “beachy” So, book your appointments!

#30: Chic Textured Bob with Sun-Kissed Highlights
The tousled waves on this cut combined with the sun-kissed highlights are doing wonders. Every time the hair moves, one section catches the light. It looks great moving. I think this cut works best on an unexpectedly wide range of shapes because the texture diverts most of the attention from whatever you don’t like, which is a trick I do most of the time. This cut works best for finer to medium hair and you can let it air dry, but a little sea salt spray will take this look from good to great and won’t add more than thirty seconds to your routine.

#31: Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Waves
A blunt bob with waves is a super cool style. The combination of the blunt structure and the soft waves creates a classy look that draws attention and makes the face more visually appealing. Personally, I think that light blonde hair always looks really pretty. Given that it’s light, I could give a brief lecture on how to take care of blonde hair. Make sure to go to toning appointments and use purple shampoo, and try to avoid swimming in chlorinated pools because it can damage your hair. The nape length makes medium length hair fall to that level, allowing you to easily pull your hair back into a neat ponytail or bun if that’s desired, and practical details like that can really make a difference. This is a strong, versatile cut that can be worn for any occasion, is easy to replicate to a high standard and also photographs really well.

#32: Softly Textured Beachy Bob
A shorter bob may mean more limited options, but this style means you can leave your hair down and tousled, braid it, or do a half up half down style, and all three will look completely different. The subtle ombre also helps to create some dimension without being too drastic. The tussled layers give a “I just got back from vacation” vibe that is coveted and many people spend a lot of money to achieve that look. The best part is if you have a natural wave at all it will be easy to achieve the look because it will do the styling for you. If you have very straight hair it will be a little more work with some product and a curling wand, but with the shape of the cut your hair will hold the style longer than you expect.

#33: Effortlessly Textured Bob with Sun-Kissed Highlights
I would use the word ‘effortless’ literally here as in no effort was done to style the hair (i.e. I spent 45 minutes achieving this look). The cut, the highlights and the waves all sit just above the shoulders which is, in my opinion, flattering, or at least doable, for everyone. If you have a lot of hair, I would suggest some concealed internal layering to prevent the hair from feeling heavy and bulky because this look is all about feeling light and movable. Highlights, while meant to be weightless and movable, do require some upkeep, so expect to get them toned and refreshed a few times a year. The color in this look is intentional and strategically placed, so it will grow out just as you would expect with highlights (typically).

#34: Effortlessly Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Layers
One combination I often reach for is the blunt base with soft layers on top. It gives a clean line at the bottom to make the bob look intentional, and the layers on top break it up, so it does not look like a helmet. I also love the highlights here, as they add just the right amount of subtle depth without screaming for attention. I think with this particular shape, it was the right call. This will be great for fine to medium hair types, as the layers create volume without removing too much weight. True, you’ll need to do a bit of styling to bring the texture out, but we are talking five minutes. Not a full production.

#35: Textured A-Line Bob with Soft Waves
What makes this cut different from other wavy bobs is the added structure that comes from the elegant A-line formation, and the polished but relaxed look that comes from the combination of an angled cut and soft waves is one of my absolute favorites. This is the cut that I would recommend to someone who has long layers and feels nervous about going shorter. The A-line will give the front some added length, and the back is free to have some more fun length. This cut will give fine hair some added volume, and the waves will help to eliminate any stiff corporate looks. This cut is the perfection combination of high reward, low risk!

#36: Softly Textured Layered Bob with Natural Highlights
The highlights in this image show how flowing and color blended they are so blended it looks intentional. This hair is cut to sit just below the chin and is versatile enough to work with different face shapes while also presenting a proper bob and not some awkward in between length. This hairstyle is great when done right as it means minimal styling is needed and still looks great which is helpful for those who want to look put together but only have 4 minutes to do so in the morning. The highlights give a sun-kissed look that may require some maintenance to keep this look, but it may be longer between appointments than you would expect.

#37: Effortlessly Tousled Textured Bob
The tousle on this has a certain quality; it is messy but makes sense. The layered blonde tones create some variety with each wave, so even on the days you don’t style it, the color still does some work. It’s going to do a great job for any fine to medium hair type who says their hair is lacking in volume. The combination of texture and layers creates fullness which a blunt cut on this hair type would not give. If your hair does not hold waves well you will need to re do the waves every second day. However, a quick scrunch with product is all you need.

#38: Stylish Textured Bob with Soft Waves
A good balayage always captures light, but this one is so refined it almost looks like it’s not there. The soft, light waves sit frame and the face so intentionally, It looks effortless, but the cut is doing the heavy lifting. This type of cut works best on fine hair because the reduced bulk allows each individual wave to show. Save this if you want to look like you’ve made an effort but only have 10 minutes in the morning.

#39: Textured Ash Blonde Bob with Soft Waves
I am very passionate about ash blonde hair color. When done properly, it is stunning. However, when done poorly, it can look grey and age you by ten years. Lucky for this person, it is done correctly. The light, cool tones combined with the soft waves help light reflect and and look beautiful. The hairstylist also did a great job in avoiding a flat or stark look. The layering is minimal, but also very smart. It is the perfect amount to create movement without compromising the overall shape of the bob. This color really is stunning. However, it will take some effort to maintain. Be prepared to use the right products at home and stay best friends with your toner, because without it, warmth will come back a lot faster then you’ll want.

#40: Chic Textured Blonde Bob with Effortless Volume
What’s those little bed head effects at the top? It’s just enough height to give the impression that your hair has a natural bounce. The light blonde also carries a youthful bright look and little to no maintenance bedside stress inducing root highlight touch-ups. The layering is technical for the hair so, you may have to wait a few hairstyles to see that it unlocks the movement zones you’ve been missing. The length is just right on the type of hair that triggers “I wish my hair looked that good.” This is the type of look that prompts people to comment, “Your hair always looks good!” It’s the best type of cut since it requires almost no effort. In blonde hair, the damage is a lot more visible, which is a big reason regular trims are so important. Being due for a trim and having the ends look thin and split is one of the worst things especially with blonde hair.

#41: Textured Shoulder-Length Shaggy Bob with Rich Undertones
The shaggy features shown here is what sets it aside from a standard layered bob, having more unevenness and more life in a way that seems lived-in, which I find really cute on almost everyone who sits in my chair. The rich undertones add warmth without being too present, so the overall effect is polished without being fussy, which is exactly the vibe I think most people want even when they can’t put it into words. Shaggy layers create the illusion of thickness, so they tend to work best for fine to medium hair. If your hair is thicker, we might need to approach the layering differently so that you don’t end up with too much volume in the wrong spots. With just a little texturizing paste on the ends, you’re ready to go.

#42: Effortlessly Tousled Mid-Length Bob with Soft Waves
I enjoy how the waves all differ; some are tighter and some are looser, having differing waves allows the hair to seem more natural compared to looking artificial. The brief layering adds volume to the hair and keeps the ends from looking too thin, achieving that balance is something a good stylist does and a lot of people overlook it. This cut is meant to integrate with what you naturally have, so if you naturally have a more wavy or curly texture, this will be ideal. If smooth and straight hair is the look you are going for, then this is probably not the cut for you, because the aim of the cut is to have a lot of texture and movement, so having a fila look would go against the purpose of the cut.

#43: Textured Caramel Layered Bob with Soft Waves
I never have trouble selling caramel as a color option. It’s flattering on almost everyone, and neutral enough on the brown to blonde spectrum to not be considered brassy. Soft waves on the hair create the appearance of ‘my hair just does this’ rather than ‘I curled my hair’, and the layers create enough movement to do this look with minimal effort. If your hair is fine, the layers will give you body, and if your hair is medium, the layers will give you movement. In either scenario, you win. I suggest a lightweight oil on the ends to give a healthy, shiny look.

#44: Textured Brunette Bob with Subtle Caramel Highlights
The caramel color is placed wonderfully throughout the mid lengths that add some warmth and none of the bad kind. The base brunette is rich giving just enough to anchor everything so the highlights pop and don’t look disconnected to the rest of the hair. For the heart shape face, this is especially flattering because of how it highlights the jaw line. The layers finish right at the widest point of the face and draw attention there to balance out the forehead. This cut will carry beautifully on medium to thick hair. It shouldn’t take you long to use any of your styling product to show off the texture.

#45: Textured Brown Bob with Subtle Layers
Sometimes, the best thing to do is not overthink things, like with this haircut. n nThe haircut is a brown bob with layers, and it works because the execution is great. The color is dark, and the layers add a nice interest without being too distracting. The highlights people look at and think “did she get highlights or is that just her hair?” and honestly, that is the goal. n nThis haircut is definitely on the wash and go side of the spectrum. For people with straight or slightly wavy hair, a little bit of product helps with texture. It’s going to give a great shape and put together look.

#46: Soft Textured Bob with Subtle Pink Highlights
I love how you have used colors here. The detail of the subtle pink is excellently done, and it is perfectly balanced as it does not detract from the rest of the outfit. It’s almost like wearing a statement earring – the outfit acts as a canvas and the restraint is what makes it so good. The cut itself is a good basic layered bob but this has enough texture to give some good movement, and the pink is right in the best spot to catch light and attention. This is how to do color if you want to do it in a more understated way, especially for people that want to play with color but don’t want to make a massive commitment. Just a heads up though, pinks and pastels fade faster than anything so if you want it to last a little longer, color safe shampoo and washing your hair in cool water is a must, otherwise that pink is going to be gone in a few weeks.

#47: Softly Textured Mid-Length Bob with Subtle Lavender Tones
Many people are curious about lavender, but not many want to fully commit to that color. I get it, lavender is a bold color, and for some, that might even be a bit intimidating when it comes to going for an all purple look. However, this look is actually quite subtle, and that is exactly why it is so easy to wear. I understand that this may not actually appear to be lavender, and that is because it is a light ash blonde with a hint of lavender. Because of the waves and light movement, the color of the hair appears to shift when you are standing in different positions, which makes it look incredible in person. The lower density of the fine hair makes it so that each individual tonal variation is really easy to see. Because this color is a bit more fantasy, refreshes will be due more frequently. However, the soft application will only ensure that the fade is gracefull and not trashy, so the soft application will help you feel better about having to refresh it more often.

#48: Effortlessly Tousled Blunt Bob with Subtle Dimension
This haircut makes use of the blunt edge that gives the cut more structure and purpose. The top may be tousled and relaxed, but you won’t look like you forgot to finish styling. A lot of people neglect the added color that highlights can give, and then their hair looks one-dimensional. This cut is ideal for those who want that “I literally didn’t put any effort into my hair today” look. The holy grail of hairstyling really. A bit of volumizing dry shampoo at the roots is recommended to keep fine hair from going flat. It really is as low-effort as it gets while still looking intentional.

#49: Playful Textured Bob with Soft Waves
These layers provide the right balance to fine hair by creating fullness without making the hair thick or heavy. The soft waves create some movement and with the highlights throughout, it provides just the right amount of dimension to make the hair appear deep. This look is one of those wash-and-go kind of styles. Straight, wavy, or whatever, it can all be done with very minimal effort. With thinner hair, if you love this look, your stylist will have to remove some internal weight to create that airy look. You can achieve it, just be clear that you want lightness and not just layers.

#50: Vibrant Textured Bob with Lively Layers
The bold orange color is amazing! I love how unapologetically bright it is; it’s definitely main character energy! The choppy layers create texture and movement. Each strand will reflect light differently, making the color more dynamic. Playful volume at the crown is achieved at the right layering, not through the use of backcombing or product. It’s all about the cut and where the layers are placed. This is especially true for fine hair, where layered illusions of more hair really create a beautiful effect. I mean this out of love: the color is going to require commitment. Orange hair will fade to a weird color if neglected, so you will need to keep your refresh appointments and use color-safe products. After all, you’ll want to enjoy being the most interesting person in the room!
