We all know that there are hardly better places to have fun with styling your hair than country concerts! Between the wind and humidity from dancing, your hair will look like it’s styled on purpose. Last year, one of my clients was nervous about her hair for Stagecoach, so I told her that the more messy it got, the better, and that night she sent me a picture looking like a country music star! I love these hairstyles!
People’s biggest issue when going to a concert is overstyling their hair. Looks can be deceiving but it’s actually better to go for styles that will improve as the night goes on, whether that be from sweat and breeze. I am going to share 25 hairstyles that I love and would do on my clients too. There are a lot of different occasions to do these hairstyles, some I do for special occasions and some I do a lot. All of these hairstyles look effortless and good!
#1: Long Beachy Waves with Soft Warm Highlights
THIS is the hair that gets the comments “Have you been to the beach?” and the answer is no. Look at these sun-kissed highlights! They look stunning and easy to maintain, definitely not a stripy, fake look. It’s like your hair has been sunbathing all summer. If you have medium to thick hair, recreating this look will be the easiest for you because the texture does most of the work. Use a sea salt spray on damp hair and then a curling wand on random sections. The trick is to leave it! The touch it, the more styled it looks. We don’t want that!
#2 Textured Shoulder-Length Waves with Warm Dimension
Valueable comments on shoulder-length hair at concerts. Waves definitely give extra body, and highlights look expensive warm. Like, just came from an expensive Beverly Hills salon. This is a great choice for finer hair because the texture and the layers give the illusion of more hair than you actually have. The only thing I will say is that if you go for highlights like this, you may need a gloss every few weeks because the warmth will go brassy instead of golden.
#3 Bohemian Loose Curls with a Half-Up Twist
Do you love wearing your hair down, but hate getting it in your face? Then this style is for you! The half-up twist keeps hair out of your face and gives you a polished look, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time on your hair. The loose curls give it a nice, relaxed bohemian look, which is super flattering! For thick and wavy hair, this look is basically effortless. Just be careful in humid areas, you might want to bring some anti-frizz serum because loose curls can get a little out of control!
#4 Half-Up Twisted Curls with Gorgeous Definition
Like the previous look, this style has defined curls, but it creates a different overall vibe. Instead of a boho look, it becomes cuter, reminiscent of a girl at the rodeo who knows how to strut her stuff. The top twist pulls everything back to reveal the curl pattern and the length movement. I suggest using a curl-defining cream to give each curl their moment, and this works with so many different hair lengths—even if you’ve got a shorter do!
#5 Glamorous Beachy Curls with Soft Bounce
The specific curl pattern looks casual and gives an impression of a “I woke up like this” attitude. But we both know that’s not the case, and that’s completely fine! Regarding the volume, soft and not BIG volume is more effortless and less pageant-y. If your hair is on the finer side then you’re in luck! Achieving this look is super easy. Just use a light mousse at the roots before you curl. With this texture, I always suggest curling AWAY from the face, as this opens everything up and looks so much more natural.
#6 Loose Side Braid with Soft Waves
Honestly, I’m a sucker for raiding hairstyles. They scream country music video, but like, don’t try too hard, and I love that. The waves in the lengths of hair break it up enough so it doesn’t look too structured, and that a little bit of messiness is an asset. You don’t want your braid to look all tidy and put together, you want it to look like it’s about to fall out at any second. So, if you have hair longer than your shoulders, you’re in luck! I’d suggest you spray some hair spray before braiding it so that all the loose hairs have some grip especially on the finer hair types otherwise the braid just snaps out and then you’re left standing in the parking with no braid. Trust me, I’ve been there.
#7 Textured Mid-Length Waves with Effortless Movement
I suggest this haircut to about 60% of people, and I’m not being dramatic. It is a mid-length haircut with layers, and even has some waves. This style is super easy to manage until your next appointment. The “I just took my hair down from a bun” look is casual, yet looks really good. The layers will do their magic if you have fine hair! Just a little bit of product and your good to go. Also, I have to say this is the perfect style if you add in a balayage! The waves really bring a great dimension to the style.
#8 High Ponytail with Bouncy Defined Curls
We have to admit, a high ponytail with some fun curls is a serious statement to make at a concert. Especially at an outdoor venue in July, you’ll thank me for my recommendation as the hours go by. Plus, this style is so cute and flirty. The ponytail bounce will keep your hair looking alive and add some pep to its step. This look will be particularly lovely on oval face shapes. The extra height from the ponytail will make everything look long and lean in the best way. A little mousse will help your curls stay in the ponytail all night long.
#9 Long Loose Waves with Face-Framing Warmth
I’m sure we can all acknowledge how much of a difference the highlights around the face are doing. Have you all noticed the way highlights are done around the front of the face? It is really smart because it allows you to make your whole face look better without doing colors all over. The texture is wavy and loose enough to make it look like you drove to the event and put the windows down, which is a really good thing. For those of you who are going to use heat in your hair to get those lovely loose waves, I hope you are planning to use a heat protectant, so your hair looks carefree, not damaged. It makes a huge difference!
#10 Curly Updo with the Cutest Face-Framing Bangs
I love this hairstyle! The loose curls give the style a lot more dimension. They elevate it from \”going to a wedding\”, to \”going to a concert and looking super cute while doing it.\” The style has just the right amount of romance while also feeling more laid back because of the loose curls. And the bangs are such a nice touch! If you were wondering whether or not to go for it, I think the picture speaks for itself. The whole look is really soft and pretty. On a different note, if you’re planning on dancing, a curly updo will probably take a lot of bobby pins and a little bit of luck.
#11 Side-Swept Ponytail with a Braided Crown Detail
My favorite is the braided crown! I can picture people stopping me and asking, “Who did your hair?” A side pony is cute, but with that braid, it really goes up a notch! Just a heads up, it’s not a style you can do in a snap. You’ll need to practice and maybe even watch a YouTube video before your first attempt. But once you’ve amazed everyone in your friend group, it’s going to become one of your go to hairstyles! If you have wavy hair, you are in luck! This style is even better for you because the body in your waves will help hold the braid better and you won’t have to use a million bobby pins.
#12 Tousled Long Waves with a Sun-Kissed Ombre
Wow! The ombre effect is so natural. The lighter pieces look like her hair got sun-kissed over the summer. The tousled waves, great length and great for that ‘drama swoosh’ effect! Let’s be honest, that’s half the fun. Finer hair can totally work with this style too, you’ll just have to place the waves a little lower so they don’t fall flat. And if you’re someone who doesn’t wanna style their hair every day, this look probably won’t be an everyday look for you. But it is perfect for a concert!
#13 Soft Textured Waves with Curtain Bangs
There is just something about country concerts and curtain bangs that give off a unique vibe. The good vibes? Who knows! The waves are the most important part, and the bangs framing the face makes the complete look so good. There is definitely a cool girl vibe coming from the festival aesthetic here, as if they never look sweaty. If your hair is medium to thick, this style will give you all the volume you need without having to try at all. Remember that curtain bangs will require a bit of maintenance. If you don’t trim them regularly, they’ll start to flip in an unwanted way. Overall, this style is a huge commitment
#14 Braided Updo with Wispy Soft Waves
This is the most appropriate updo for those who don’t think they can do updos. It is slightly loose and undone, and that is what makes it so beautiful. The crown braid gives it a bit of structure, but the loose waves around the face keep it nice and casual. This is perfect for hot days when you want your hair up but don’t want that prom look. If you have fine hair, this type of look is actually to your advantage and will seem a lot more intentional. A light mousse will add some more body prior to starting your style.
#15 Braided Waves with a Bohemian Twist
The little braids in the waves look super cute and if I’m being honest, it photographs really well so I’m not complaining. It makes the style more festival boho goddess. Waved braids not only give extra volume but also give off that “wow, she put some real thought into her hair” vibe. This is one of those styles where the hair density is just right. You want enough hair to braid but not too much that the braids get lost in the waves. If you want to take this look a step further, some subtle balayage would really amp the dimension of the entire look.
#16 Long Layers with Face-Framing Bangs
A braid or an updo hairstyle isn’t necessary; a good haircut is all you need. You can see how long layers create movement and shape while also looking effortless when worn down. Concert day is also going to require some effort, so soft bangs are a great complement. The layers will prevent finer hair from looking flat or one-dimensional, so that’s a good thing. My only complaint is that the ends of your hair will start to split. As long as you avoid the look of long hair with split ends, regular trims will be a necessity.
#17 Charming Side Braid with Soft Layers
A side braid with face-framing layers is gorgeous yet effortless. It has the intended casual feel and orients the focus in the way of thought and effort put into the hairstyle. It’s really not about how tight or perfect a braid is; actually, everything leans toward the benefit of the aesthetic for looser braids. The delicate strands that frame the face add dimension and avoids the style from being perceived as “little girl at a picnic.” I suggest this style to many of my clients for outdoor events as it keeps hair contained while still looking good. It’s a good idea to bring a few extra elastic bands because you might be surprised at how easily braids lose their hold during long events.
#18 Romantic Loose Updo with Cascading Curls
I love the romantic country vibe of this updo! With the curls that frame the face, it feels more concert than wedding, if you know what I mean. It really does that ideal combination of formal and casual, and this one really gets it right. Face framing pieces are CRUCIAL so please don’t omit them, as they do all of the softening and flattering work. If your hair naturally holds a curl well, it’s a great benefit for you! But for those with a straighter hair type, I would suggest curling those front pieces with a curling iron and setting them with a flexible hold hairspray.
#19 Half-Up Curly Style with a Twisted Crown
This style looks amazing with thick, wavy hair and the curls give the style so much more volume than with fine hair. The twisted crown detail adds a lovely whimsical element. The loose texture also adds a fun, approachable feel to the style instead of overly polished. The curls will need some moisture. Be sure to apply your leave-in conditioner and a spray to help with any potential frizz. We don’t want that.
#20 Defined Natural Curls with Beautiful Volume
Definitely! If you have natural curls, I am BEGGING you to wear your hair like this. Just look how gorgeous this is, and please do not straighten your hair, fight your curls, or do anything to break up this look. The definition of these curls is AMAZING and the volume is just right, neither too big or too flat. It is absolutely perfect. The best way to achieve this type of definition is to use a good curl enhancing product. And if you are worried about humidity ruining this look throughout the day, natural curls actually handle humidity WAY better than any styled curls, so you don’t need to stress about that. Curls are supposed to have texture!
#21 Braided Crown with Flowing Textured Waves
Braided crown hairstyles have been in for a while but I think this one looks AMAZING! Those soft waves are a great touch. I appreciate the ethereal country fairy vibe. The soft waves mean that the look doesn’t become too over structured, or too bridal which is key for the overall style. I won’t lie, it looks like it might take a while to get right and you’re going to need a friend with extreme amounts of patience! However, this style will definitely ensure you get a ton of compliments and will hold up all night for any event. The braid will hold everything together so you don’t need to worry about it slipping or coming undone!
#22 Long Voluminous Waves with Dimensional Highlights
Big hair and rocking out go hand in hand! It’s giving classic glam with the volume and the dimension from the done highlights is lush. Plus, it won’t fall flat or feel heavy, which is a main differentiator. If you’ve got thick, wavy hair, this is your time to go all out and let it do its thing. All thick, wavy hair should be free flowing. Outdoors in the sun is where is it at because those highlights be catching the light. When it comes to thick hair, I’m just gonna say it, this will be low maintenance. Keeping highlights like this fresh is gonna be costly and high upkeep so do yourself a favor and use some purple shampoo in the meantime to keep those tones looking fresh.
#23 Messy Bun with Loose Face-Framing Pieces
Messy buns are considered “lazy” hairstyles and I have to disagree. There are plenty of concerts where a messy bun has been one of the most practical and flattering hairstyles. Messy buns can be worn to any occasion. What really perfects a bun are the face framing hairs. Those are the hairs that separate a messy bun from a good one and a bad one. If you’re feeling a little extra you can flat iron or curl a piece of hair so that they are all bent up. As the night goes on this hairstyle will actually get better because it will loosen up. Hair that has medium density is perfect because the bun will not get too bulky.
#24 Half-Up Textured Ponytail with Soft Waves
Half-up ponytails are one of my favorite styles. They are super easy and you can wear them anywhere. The waves in the lower half of the hair make the style more lively and interesting, and the back ponytail keeps the hair out of your face. Having a style that keeps the hair out of your face and the waves in the bottom half of the hair are a great combination. Half-up ponytails are especially nice medium length and shorter hair because you don’t need a lot of hair to pull the style off. Using a little texturizing spray will not only hold everything in place, but give your style that lived in look that will make the style even better!
#25 Side Braid with Tousled Waves
We are wrapping up the braids with an example that highlights the wonderful mix of a relaxed side braid and some tousled waves that are great for a country concert. This style is polished enough to show that you have made an effort, while also relaxed enough to state that you did not spend 2 hours to get ready. This braid adds structure to what could have been a simple look of loose waves. Overall, the look is more flattering with one side pinned back. Prior to waving the hair, light mousse will give volume and hold without the crunch.
#26 Voluminous Layered Waves with Golden Sun-Kissed Highlights
Aww, this hair is everything! I love the movement in the layers, and the sun-kissed highlights are giving us the warmth and glow that outdoor lighting just adores. If your hair is medium to thick and you are thinking about getting layers, you need to show this to your stylist! The way these are cut, look gives the waves that super active bouncy flow and the best part is, it won’t be weighed down. This hair is big, beautiful, and unapologetically voluminous and I am so obsessed. The waves may take a little practice to get right, but trust me, once you get that curling wand technique down, this is going to be your go-to look for everything, not just concerts!
