50 Choppy Layered Haircuts That Are Effortless and Sophisticated

I often hear my clients describe what they want by mentioning choppy layers. It’s usually because they envision wanting that effortless, main character type of look. They want their hair to look like it’s blowing in the wind in the most fabulous way. And sure, it’s a good reason to say that, but the truth is that you lean toward your own personal preferences of choppy layers that may not actually work for you. You shouldn’t have to choose your own style and screenshot what you want.

I recently had a lady come in wanting a ‘choppy shag’ from a Pinterest picture, and she had very thick hair. I told her, “Listen, if I do this exactly like the picture, you’re going to look like a mushroom.” And believe it or not, she actually looked amazing when we chose a different style. Now that’s what I consider to be good choppy layers. I’ll be sharing more examples that work and my thoughts will follow.

Trendy Layered Lob with Face-Framing Texture

#1: The Layered Lob That Makes Everyone Think You Spent More Than You Did

This cut is beautiful! The layers framing the face gives a soft look and highlights your cheekbones. I love this length too because it’s long enough to pull into a ponytail! The tones and warmth in your color really match the cut. This is the cut for you if you want a low maintenance style and to get a lot of compliments. With thick hair, it gets a bit boxy, and you’ll be back in my chair again super soon because of it.

Textured Short Choppy Crop with Soft Layers

#2 The Little Crop That’s Doing Way More Than It Looks

I like short, choppy, and cropped styles and this cut is great for the right person. The layers add necessary dimension to finer hair. While this cut looks effortless, there is actually an undercut at the nape that gives the cut structure. To keep the cut looking cute and not like bed head, a texturizing paste will be essential. Because this cut is so low maintenance, I won’t feel bad recommending it.

Chin-Length Textured Bob with Neon Peekaboo Ribbons

#3: Neon Pink Ribbons on a Textured Bob, and I’m Not Mad About It

The chin length bob with bangs is a stunning haircut on its own. The point-cut around the perimeter brings some added attitude to the style that I enjoy. The neon pink face-frame ribbons along with the halo undercut just pushes this over the top, in a good way, elevating the whole thing. The pink is going to fade quick though; that color is going to disappear after about four washes and some really bad color conditioner and colder than ideal water will be required to keep it in. The base brown also needs an extra lift for the pink to show well. This isn’t a fun, whimsical appointment; it’s going to be a big commitment to get the look and then once you do it, how can you not love it?

Rounded Mid-Length Shag with Flipped Perimeter and Face-Framing Slices

#4: The Shag That Flips Where It’s Supposed To

I adore this shag that comes down to the collarbone because it looks like the flips at the nape are purposeful and not just from battling the humidity. The curtain bangs are soft enough to not scream “I HAVE BANGS” at the school pick up, but do sit at a nice angle to call attention to your cheekbones. For medium density and a little wave, this style will just come together, but if you have finer hair you might have to use a root lifting spray at the roots and round brush the ends to get them to sit right.

#5: The Micro-Bang Chunky Bob That’s Not for the Faint of Heart

I adore everything about this, but let’s discuss the catch. The chunky bob with those blunt micro bangs is giving cool editorial I-make-my-own-ceramics-and-have-a-gallery-show-next-week. The internal slide cutting softens the weight line so that it doesn’t look too helmet-y and that little crown cowlick is actually working for you because it gives the whole top section that natural lift. The catch is that micro bang is going to require serious daily upkeep. I’m talking about a flat iron and 30 seconds of your time, no exceptions. Dark hair shows roots worse than anything so keep your colorist on speed dial.

Choppy Feathered Shag with Ash-Blonde Peekaboo Slices
Instagram: voltedhair

#6: Ash-Blonde Peekaboo Slices Tucked Into a Shag, and It Works

I would sell my soul for hair that moves like this mid-length choppy shag! It has such a gorgeous, effortless movement. If you’re tired of it, the face-framing fringe is also long enough to sit behind your ear, and the razor texturizing gives it an airy feel so each layer looks like it’s doing its own thing. The chin-length ash-blonde peekaboo slices are a smart addition since they catch the light and are subtle when your hair is still. The fringe may need convincing to sit nicely, and the peekaboo slices will need some toning upkeep since blonde under brown hair looks brassy when neglected.

Choppy Short Shag with Micro Fringe and Flicked Perimeter

#7: Micro Fringe and a Flicked Perimeter, Because Why Not Do Both

This chin-length choppy shag cut has the advantage of looking good in photos *and* in real life, which isn’t something I can say about every style. The micro fringe is cut so it’s high enough to show off your brows. The flick of the outer perimeter is vintage-meets-now, and the crown layers are short enough to give a lift to flat fine hair. Just a heads up, if you have cowlicks up top, keep some styling cream handy because the short crown layers are micro bangs are going to be a little loose.

Textured Mid-Length Shag with Rounded Blunt Fringe

#8: The Blunt Fringe Shag That Looks Good Air-Dried

Every time I see someone walk into my chair with natural waves and medium density I get a bit excited because I know I get to style their hair and they most likely won’t have to do much work to it. I love the retro feel of the rounded blunt bangs. The stacked internal layers will make the texture stand out, and there will be a subtle mid-lengths roll that will beautifully tuck everything under the jawline. This fringe will be a 3 to 4 week trimming type of style because once it hits the eyelashes you will be over it. Wavy hair & humidity equals moisture cream and that’s a requirement, but being able to air dry your hair and look put together is just the best.

Platinum Face-Framing Money Piece with Long Feathered Layers
Instagram: thesalonmaesteg

#9: Platinum Money Pieces That Are Intentionally Uneven, and It’s Brilliant

I want to focus on this because it’s one of the details that stands out and people rarely notice, for example, the two platinum money-piece panels are of different widths, and this small asymmetrical detail adds a look of effortlessness to the style. When she turns her head, the hair moves in different directions on each side which looks stunning. A blowout with face-framing slices plus long feathery layers & platinum is the ultimate combo to give that million dollars feeling, while also illuminating her face to perfection. However, those front panels are working hard, because they need bond builder to stay healthy and require toning every few weeks to keep them icy instead of yellow.

#10: Curtain Money Piece on Long Layers, a.k.a. “The One Everyone Asks For”

I think I do something similar to this cut about three times a week, and it never gets old. It just works! The curtain bangs with bright money-piece highlights are like a ring light on your face 24/7. And the internal graduation at the crown gives that lift long hair lacks. The root smudge balayage is perfect for this because it grows out beautifully and gives you time. I will say this look does call for a round brush blowout to get those ends flipped. So if you’re an air dry person, it might not turn out quite like this.

Violet Textured Shag with Face-Framing Flicked Layers
Instagram: roxxmoneymil

#11: That Violet Shag-Mullet Hybrid That Somehow Looks Wearable

I’ll be honest, bright colors and a mullet can be hit or miss situations, but in this case, the result was very right! The rich and dimensional purple hair color, along with the flattering feathered bangs and face framing bangs, looks amazing. The activated nape shaggy mullet highlights and makes it more wearable than it sounds. The clever use of contrasting deeper colors adds depth and hides the grow out of the vivid purple hair. It’s smart because vivid colors often look like they have places to be. This looks best on medium to thick hair that’s straight to somewhat straight.

Textured Long Shag with Piecey Fringe
Instagram: natalee.hair

#12: The Piecey Long Shag With See-Through Fringe

Long super shag hairstyles can sometimes come off as needing a trim. Other times, it can look intentional, as if each piece is styled to flow and breathe separately. Razor-cut layers look separated and airy, while micro fringes give a soft appearance that’s not too invisible-cloak. Micro babylights at the hairline tie the look all together. This works best on fine to medium hair, as slide shearing removes a lot of weight while leaving crown density intact. Heads up, high humidity may cause the fringe to behave unexpectedly.

Soft Curtain Bangs with Feathered Mid-Length Layers
Instagram: brushed.byjess

#13: Curtain Bangs and Feathered Layers That Play Nicely Together

Just before her daughter’s wedding, I tried a similar cut on a client and she was crying happy tears in the chair! The curtain bangs and flipped under finish combined with the mid length layers look polished and effortless. The muted inner stacking with razor texturing gives fantastic volume on straight and fine to medium hair. The root melt with the color is another nice touch. I won’t lie, the bangs are going to take some daily shaping and this cut may give you some push back if you have thick or curly hair.

Choppy Chin-Length Layers with Rose-Pink Peekaboo Ends
Instagram: minarennaevins

#14: Rose-Pink Peekaboo on a Choppy Chin-Length Cut

This chin-length haircut has a subtle asymmetric design and attitude to match. The rose-pink peekaboo underlights at the front corners and tips will definitely get some double takes when you tuck your hair behind your ear. The choppy and point-cut texture adds movement, and the framing around the face is solid. What you need to know right away is that rose-pink will fade faster than almost every other fashion color. You will be best friends with color-depositing treatments, and if your pre-lighting isn’t clean, you’ll end up with muddy tones. It’s worth it when it’s fresh, and it’s definitely worth it.

Warm Chestnut Shoulder-Length Choppy Layers with Feathered Face-Framing
Instagram: kvbeautyllc

#15: Warm Chestnut Layers with a Silver Surprise at the Part

What stands out is the visible silver root band. It serves as a built-in highlight and alters your perception of the color below. I also really like the warm chestnut shoulder-length feathered layers with face-framing. It is very flattering! I also appreciate the internal graduation at the nape. It gives it shape, and honestly, it looks like healthy hair having a good day. If you have fine to medium wavy hair, you’re in luck. A light blow dry is all you’ll need for those ends to flip, and you may need a gloss treatment for the color to not go warm and muddy. Otherwise, it is pretty low-drama, which I respect!

Tousled Choppy Shag with Subtle Mullet Silhouette

#16: The Choppy Shag-Mullet That Grows Out Better Than You’d Expect

With the shyness mullet shape and the wispy bang, it’s amazing! I’d say it gives off the vibe of “I bike to work and I love it.” The short layers create disconnections, and reverse graduations at the nape create a little flip and gives hair that is fine to medium twice the volume. The light under layer surrounding your face adds a lot; it provides some dimension prior to the full bleach and tone commitment, smart decision. You will require a texturizing spray to maintain that messy, intentional look to the end of the hair and it will require some heating to sit right, but with this hair cut, it seems that sleek was not the goal.

Glossy Layered Shoulder-Length Blowout with Face-Framing Swoops
Instagram: kaceemckay_hair

#17: Glossy Swoops and a Round-Brush Finish That Earns Its Keep

This is the cut that will get everyone asking “who does your hair?” at every event for the next three months. The chin-level, face-framing, swoop bangs paired with that subtle underlayer graduation creates a shape that moves, holds, and photographs beautifully. Since your hair color is dark, upkeep will be a lot easier! Lucky you! Just a heads up, this style requires a round-brush blowout, so if you’re not up for a 10-minute blow dry-session, you’ll have a great cut that doesn’t look like this photo. If you are, this is the most polished style you’ll get at this length.

Textured Short Shag with Wispy Fringe and Flipped Nape
Instagram: im_hummer

#18: A Jaw-Length Shag That Loves a Cowlick

I admire those who have a crown cowlick and don’t view it as a problem. Cowlicks should be viewed as an asset! This jaw-to-nape, textured shag, utilizes that natural lift point to achieve volume that most people create with products, and boyfriend-y softness to all the flyaways around an oval face, a warm auburn underlight. Hair that is fine to medium thickness often appears to have “see through” ends, but point cutting combined with light razor texturing provides an airy quality. The cowlick will most likely require some product to point it in the desired direction in the morning, and those bangs may separate at will; but for the outrageous amount of movement, those are small trade-offs.

#19: Micro-Fringe and Winged Layers, Especially Good with Glasses

If you have glasses and you’ve been searching for a hairstyle that works with and not against your specs, look no further. The choppy micro-fringe sits just above the glasses and the winged layers that frame the face and extend past the collar bone create beautiful movement to draw the focus down vertically. The style as a whole has a very architectural feel to it, which works beautifully with the structure that glasses provide. The inner layers have a very light and airy feel due in part to a slide cutting and a method called razor point texturizing. There is a lovely inward flick at the mid lengths. Micro bangs do take a good amount of precision to achieve the desired effect, meaning there is little room for mistakes. Additionally, they may appear a bit harsh on very round face shapes so be sure to mention that to your stylist prior to going for it!

Choppy Textured Chin-Length Bob with Burgundy Peekaboo
Instagram: hair_by_marouska

#20: Burgundy Peekaboo on a Choppy Bob, and the Texture Matters

This chin-length bob gives you a great soft layering effect, plus, the micro-fringe adds detail and softens and rounds more of an oval face shape, and with these internal layers, a little volume will get removed where it matters. The mid-length burgundy peek-a-boo gives you the color pop moment that we love without the commitment of an all-over vivid, but because of the brown base, some tonal maintenance will be needed as it will fade faster. Getting this texture to hold will take some extra effort as it will lean towards a more natural wave and curl.

Edgy Micro-Bangs with Choppy Mullet-Inspired Layers
Instagram: hair_by_alyssaa_

#21: Micro-Bangs and a Mullet Shape for the Brave and the Rewarded

I will be honest with you, this style definitely requires confidence, and an understanding that letting it grow back will be a journey of its own. The bangs are really short and the layers are mullet straight, meaning that there is drama being put in without a lot of weight being added. You’ll also get a nice little height boost from that cowlick, and the layered look will have a lot of movement. If you want your hair to look a bit more put together and very interesting, this is definitely the cut for you. Just remember micro bangs will need to be cut in a two to three week cycle, and the choppy disconnection makes it so that if you’re thinking of growing it out, there are no graceful in between phases.

Buttery Blonde Face-Framing Layered Cut with Feathered Ends
Instagram: brushed.byjess

#22: Buttery Blonde Layers That Want a Blowout and Deserve One

This haircut deserves the title of `polished.` It is creates a more sophisticated style, with longer face framing layers, soft interior graduation, and feathered ends to give the appearance of fuller hair. It looks amazing with glasses. The warm blonde shade will need a gloss to keep it looking buttery and not brassy, and the ends will need a round-brush blowout or a smoothing iron to give them a nice under curl. If you’re willing to spend 10 minutes with heat tools, this haircut will reward you a lot.

Tousled mid-length haircut with choppy bangs and layered texture for thick hair
Instagram @randa.rivera

#23: Choppy Bangs and a Tousled Situation That Just Works

Choppy layers simplify management of thick and medium hair, and if you want to remove some weight but keep most of your length, come sit down because this is exactly what you need. The soft bangs also really help to add lightness around the face so you’re not overcommitting to a full set of bangs. The best part? The haircut looks better 2 days after you get it which is pretty much the dream. This is also great if your hair has any natural texture because this haircut is very wash and go.

Elegant Soft Layered Cut with Face-Framing Bangs

#24 The Soft Layered Cut Your Mom Friends Will Text You About

Soft bangs are great at enhancing your look! This hairstyle gives the feeling of getting a fresh hair cut from a salon and just scored a big promotion! The cut looks polished, balanced and effortless because of its straight mid-length finish. The layered warm tones that free flow create the perfect look to warm and even skin tones. They give ideal skin and dimension tones, with fine and medium hair. Also, the finish grades the look to effortless polished sophistication with movement, minus the straggly appearance. If your hair is fine, this is the extreme hair finish you’re looking for. For fine hair a little root volumizing mousse is all you need, and the cut will do the rest!

Chic Layered Bob with Soft Bangs

#25 A Layered Bob With Bangs That Doesn’t Need Much From You

It is uncommon for most haircuts to look good growing out, but this is not the case here. The layers add volume to the crown of the head, which helps the style look more intentional. The bangs are soft enough to not be obtrusive, but they help to frame the face. Having the bangs and the length of the hair around the chin allows for up to five different style changes. While bangs definitely require some maintenance so they don’t become ‘sad curtains’, aside from that, this style is as low maintenance as you can get.

Stylish Silver Pixie Cut with Soft Layers

#26 Silver Pixie That Doesn’t Read “Giving Up,” It Reads “Decided”

I appreciate when clients say they want to go silver. They say they feel bad, and I never understand why because there is nothing to regret with this cut. The layers are dimensioned and framed the face really well, and the length is so European and youthfully effortless. The texture at the crown creates a fresh, modern, and intentional feel to the whole cut. This look is really meant for fine to medium hair. We don’t want too much bulk to compete with the color. The look will require shape maintenance, but the day-to-day styling is really minimal. It’s the dream because you’re gonna have so much time in the mornings to do literally anything else.

Textured Medium-Length Layered Cut with Soft Bangs

#27 Layered and Soft With Bangs That Actually Behave

I really appreciate that the bangs with this shoulder length hairstyle give a soft touch to the cut without making you feel like you’re hiding behind them. This style as a whole feels very light and gentle. Fine and medium hair will appreciate this cut because the stylist adds just the right amount of layering to create that airy and bouncy feel to the style. It’s a great compliment to give a really good haircut that make you look nice and it’s a wonderful cut to receive that compliment. This is the kind of hairstyle that I recommend you to book a lot of appointments to upkeep it, so you can run your fingers through it and just go.

Textured Short Choppy Layers with Soft Waves

#28 Short Choppy Layers With Waves That Do the Talking

The gentle, quick layers on this style give a flattering frame to the face that isn’t overdone, while the gentle waves at the middle add enough movement to the hair so the hair of medium density looks full and more interesting. The tones are warm and a nice touch. They give some depth and avoid distraction, which is preferable when the cut is doing this much. Regular trims are a must to keep your trim fresh; once those short layers grow out, the entire structure shifts and definitely not in a cute way. When fresh, this is one of those cuts that looks ‘just right’.

Chic Textured Lob with Face-Framing Layers

#29 A Lob With Layers That Looks Effortless Because It Kind of Is

The layers on this lob create the illusion of a more structured jawline, and I don’t understand why more people don’t mention this as a reason for adding layers instead of just saying “movement and texture.” The dark roots blending into lighter ends give a natural I-have-not-been-to-the-salon look, which paradoxically requires a trip to the salon, but once that trip is made, the style grows out beautifully, so you’ll really consider this a time-saver for your in-between salon visits. The subtle wave in medium-density hair is the ideal foundation for this look. You won’t need to put in much effort to achieve that “I woke up like this” look.

Textured Medium-Length Layered Cut with Highlights

#30 Medium Layers With Highlights That Look Like They’ve Always Been There

I like how your haircut includes layers and highlights that complement each other. Frequently, I notice colors and cuts that do not work well together. On fine to medium hair, the soft, textured layers create fluid movement and nice face framing. The highlights give dimension, and are evenly spaced so they do not look stripy. The cut is also very adaptable, meaning you will look purposeful no matter how you decide to style it. You’ll definitely have to maintain the layers more than the color, because once the shape is gone, you’ll have to get new highlights.

Modern Silver Textured Pixie Cut

#31 Silver Textured Pixie That Proves Short Hair Can Have Range

I did a cut like this on a woman who hadn’t changed her hairstyle in 15 years. When she saw herself in the mirror, she gasped. She was laughing but about to cry. That is how people respond to a haircut like this. It completely alters how one perceives their face. The way the technique has been done creates a thickness to the hair that is lacking in fine to medium textures. The fun layers mean that you can just run your fingers through and go. Total game changer. The style can demand quite a bit of maintenance and you’ll need to go to the salon fairly often for new trims. A pixie cut is a whole look and once it starts to grow out, it won’t look like what you’re going for. But honestly the maintenance is keep it sort of scrunched and that’s about it. That’s the best part!

Chic Short Textured Pixie with Subtle Layers

#32 The Short Textured Pixie That Makes People Ask If You Lost Weight

Most people won’t notice that the subtle layers in this pixie cut help her face appear more angular, her neck longer, and her whole vibe more intentional. I love doing haircuts like this because the compliments go beyond, “I like your haircut.” Instead, they’ll say, “You look amazing, did something change?” For fine to medium hair, the impact of layers is even more pronounced since there is enough density to hold the texture without getting too puffy. I will never pretend that regular trims won’t be required with any pixie, and with this sort of cut, I won’t pretend the trims will be needed. The soft structure will keep it playful and wearable and will look good from your morning coffee to your dinner reservations.

Effortlessly Tousled Layered Cut with Soft Face-Framing Texture

#33 Tousled Layers With Face-Framing Texture That Photographs Like a Dream

A previous client of mine had hair almost identical to this and told me she’s never had a haircut she liked in a picture before, but after this one she did. I don’t know what it is about these lightly tousled, cheekbone grazing, shadow creating layers that looks so good in person and in photos. The subtle layering adds movement to the style without sacrificing fullness, which is the struggle with fine to medium hair, and this style does it so well. It will need a bit of styling upkeep to maintain that effortless look, but it should only take a couple of minutes and the results will be worth it.

Effortlessly Chic Layered Cut with Soft Waves

#34 Soft Waves on a Layered Cut That Basically Maintains Itself

As you walk in, I’m going to assume you’re going to say, “I want something cute, what do I literally not have to think about?” I would show you this picture. Soft waves are added to create lots of length and texture. The waves aid in keeping the hair from laying flat against the shoulders. That length is the sweet spot. When you have not styled your hair, this cut still looks styled. The subtle highlights also add more depth to the look. Highlights only require touch ups now and then. The best part is this is as close to a set it and forget it haircut you can get. Yes, you’ll need to maintenance the layers, but the daily commitment is nothing.

Softly Layered Ash Blonde Bob with Wispy Bangs

#35 Ash Blonde Bob With Wispy Bangs That Softens Everything

The bob’s wispy bangs are doing exactly what I want bangs to do, and that is to soften the face without the curtain effect. This is the perfect style for versatile and makeup-in-your-face flattering. The ashy blonde color is a pretty tone that compliments fair to medium skin tones. The length is perfect to have enough to style, but not so long that it is cumbersome. This shape works well for fine to medium density as you’ll have enough hair for the ends to not look thin while still having great shape and movement. To prevent shaggy and uneven lengths, you will need to have regular maintenance to keep the bangs and layers under control. It’s simple and stunning and definitely worth the effort.

Layered Textured Bob with Subtle Face-Framing Pieces

#36 A Textured Bob With Face-Framing Pieces That Works for Busy People

I particularly like this haircut for people who have a busy lifestyle and don’t want to negotiate with their hair for an extensive amount of time every morning. The front framing layers lift and soften the overall shape, and the addition of layers creates movement through fine and medium hair. The rich warm tones add dimension to the hair, so it’ll look better than a single process color. The shorter length is super easy to style, and using just the right amount of product is key to keeping those layers defined; a lightweight cream is great for this, just apply it through the mid-lengths. This hack will practically run itself, as long as you stay on top of trimming the layers.

Chic Soft Choppy Curls with Subtle Layers

#37 Choppy Curls That Look Like You Were Born With Them

The big hunk of soft curls adds a lot of volume and creates a bouncy feel without looking too big. The layering is done perfectly so the curls have freedom to move. Hair that’s fine to medium is great for this type of shoulder cut as the bouncing curls have a lot of space and the choppy cut really creates the illusion of a lot of hair. A curl cream is probably a must for drier weather as you’ll want to keep the curls defined. This vibe is super relaxed and lively and, your hair will for sure be a hair smile magnet!

Textured Golden Layered Bob with Soft Flicks

#38 Golden Layered Bob With Flicks That Catch Light Beautifully

This haircut has several features designed to move; the soft flicks, face-framing layers, and the sway and swing of the collarbone-length cut as you walk. The fine to medium density works in the hair’s favor for added effortless volume. With a deep subtle balayage, this cut will shine. A fresh balayage and highlights are two very different things, even though many people mistakenly confuse the two. As such, Keeping those layers will help to maintain that playful har style. This is the type of cut where you can go from running errands to dinner plans and look amazing without changing a single thing.

Textured Copper Shag with Soft Volume

#39 Copper Shag That Wants You to Have Natural Texture

Now hold on a minute, what are you doing straightening your hair? Take a look at this stunning copper shag! This haircut is all about working with your natural hair, not against it. Copper hues brighten your face and look stunning! For the best results aim for your hair to sit at your shoulders, this will give a lot of room for layers to create movement. Trust me, this isn’t going to look shapeless- the choppy texture will provide volume and dimension. Keep your layers defined, it will make the whole look clean and polished. For how much you get, this is going to take little effort!

Effortlessly Layered Long Cut with Soft Bangs

#40 Long Layers With Soft Bangs That Age Beautifully

I love this haircut’s soft bangs and effortless layers! I can tell this will look great now and 6 weeks from now, which isn’t something a lot of haircuts can do. The wavy texture creates great movement and helps medium-thick hair breathe a little. The length also helps with the waves too. I love the mid-lengths, they look great with any shape, and you really don’t need a lot of money to add depth. The look is great with a little added styling, but the cut also looks great with little to no effort. This definitely earns its keep!

Modern Choppy Bob with Soft Bangs

#41 The Choppy Bob That Makes Fine Hair Look Fuller

I can’t count the number of clients with fine hair who thought that a bob would make them look even more thin. I have to show them pictures like this. The angled, choppy layers add texture, and give the illusion of density that fine hair lacks. The soft bangs frame the face, and the above-the-shoulders length is perfect for movement and bounce. The subtle waves make sure it doesn’t look too clean and stiff. It is super fun, and will probably be one of those haircuts that feels lower maintenance.

Chic Textured Bob with Subtle Bangs

#42 Textured Bob With Subtle Bangs and a Tousled Finish

Messy bob hairstyles, like this one, are very trendy and I love the way the bob’s soft movement looks. The bangs are extremely unobtrusive and offer enough frame and soften the need for heavier bangs. Just shoulder-length hairstyles, like this one, look good on almost everyone. The crown adds lift to the fine hair that always seems to be missing, and makes the hairstyle a great one for people who don’t want to spend a lot of time on their hair. Certainly, one of the example pictures will require bouncy hair, but it should be a very quick process if you need to do that. If you want to add a nice bouncy look to the hairstyle a set of Velcro rollers will work and would be great multitasking while you are doing your makeup. That definitely speaks to me.

Textured Silver Pixie with Soft Layers

#43 Silver Pixie With Layers That Give You Crown Lift for Free

The layered crown texture on this silver pixie adds a soft lift and a playful touch without being overly fussy. I’m definitely aiming for that vibe with the pixie silver hair. The texture is smooth, the movement is effortless, and this weight distribution will be perfect for fine to medium hair. There’s enough density to maintain shape without being overly puffy on the sides. Short hair means regular shape maintenance and that’s just the reality. Anyone who tells you differently is selling you on an illusion. However, your day to day will be low maintenance and, at some point in life, that’s far more valuable than any style alternatives.

Modern Edgy Textured Bob with Subtle Layers

#44 A Modern Textured Bob That Looks Expensive

This bob looks more expensive because of the soft finish on the ends. Subtle layers create a more relaxed feel, evoking a sense of confidence. The just-above-the-shoulders length makes for easy styling while still keeping the hair present. The natural shine is a game changer, and fine to medium hair gets the perfect amount of volume with this texture. The result is modern and complements the oval face shape beautifully.Maintaining that fresh look will take some time to style, but it is a matter of minutes, not a huge production.

Choppy Textured Pixie with Rich Burgundy Tones

#45 Burgundy Choppy Pixie That Demands Absolutely Nothing From Your Morning

A choppy pixie cut with rich burgundy color beautifully enhances and showcases the short layers creating amazing depth and interest. The warm tones of the burgundy color cut will also be very inviting against lighter skin tones. The soft, feature softening, tousled look is very achievable with longer hair, but with a pixie cut, nothing will be hiding behind the hair. This style is designed for fine to medium texture hair and will require daily use of styling product to create that professionally tousled, ‘just rolled out of bed’ messy look. In total, it will probably take you less than 50 seconds to style this hair. This is one of the most affordable hairstyles I would say.

Chic Textured Silver Pixie with Soft Volume

#46 Silver Pixie With Soft Volume and Zero Fuss

During my career, I have cut lots of silver pixies. The best ones are the best layered. The best layered ones give balance that allows for volume without the hair looking thin, and this one nails that balance. The textured keeps it interesting, and the shape really frames the face, especially oval and heart shapes. This cut has that je ne sais quoi where you look put together, even if you have a sweatshirt on, and that’s the real test of a good cut. I’ll always be honest, very short hair does need a bit of regular trims to maintain shape. If you want a little extra dimension some subtle low lights placed layered with the silver will provide amazing depth without changing the overall tone of the colour.

Effortlessly Chic Choppy Layered Cut with Soft Fringe

#47 Choppy Layers With Soft Fringe and a Warm Glow

This cut’s mid-length choppy layers give straight hair of medium density a light, airy feel, which I really like because it doesn’t seem overdone. The soft, face-framing bangs add a bit of warmth without too much drama, and highlights add texture and depth by being reflective at various angles. The choppy bangs will be best for oval and square face shapes. For wider foreheads, bangs can be softer, and choppy layers can be elongating. This is the most wash-and-go cut in this collection, as it is the most style-intensive, and will be great if you like light blow-drying for about ten minutes.

Chic Fiery Red Layered Cut with Soft Bangs

#48 Fiery Red Layers With Bangs That Bounce

Such a deep red color captures lots of movement because it shifts depending on the light and the angle. Each layer contains light differently. The soft bangs of this cut hit the face in a universally flattering way, and the layers give fine hair the bouncy looks seen in the hair in motion photo. I won’t pretend that the red color won’t need regular touch-ups. Vivid reds may be the most high-maintenance color, but they are magic when fresh, and this cut shows exactly why.

Graceful Soft Layered Cut with Gentle Waves

#49 Gentle Waves on Soft Layers, for When You Want to Look Lovely Without Trying

My favorite haircut clients say is “I want to look nice.” I know what they mean. They want something soft and flattering and easy. They want a haircut that doesn’t draw too much attention to the outside, but feels lovely to see in the mirror. The gentle, soft waves and layers that go just below the shoulder do just that. And with fine hair density, it adds to the light and airy quality. The face-framing layers work on oval and heart shaped faces without having to style them. To add some more texture to the natural waves, a wave enhancing spray is encouraged. Just keep in mind that humidity may make it a bit annoying. The cut is designed to look pretty effortless, and it will be a lot easier than it looks.

Chic Textured Bob with Soft Waves

#50 A Textured Bob With Waves That Has More Going On Than You Think

This bob style jawline length creates face framing that is not overly harsh, creating a defined space rather than just sitting on them. The soft waves give volume to finer hair, and need little persuasion, the layers create that modern lived in movement, and a lovely soft texture keeps everything unpolished and relaxed. It is particularly good for oval and heart shaped faces as the framing around the jawline creates lovely proportions. Some effort is needed for the waves whether that is a quick curling iron session or just some scrunched product in damp hair but all of that takes under a couple of minutes.
