31 Brown Bob Haircut Ideas You Havent Seen Yet

Are you ready for a new hairstyle? Check out these awesome brown bob haircut ideas! Brown bob haircuts are a versatile haircut option for all hair types including thick, fine, and even curly hair. The range of bob styles are sure to help you change up your look. Get to know these different variations, and elevate your style even higher.

Recently, while organizing my color swatches, the majority of them were some shade of brown. This was somewhat natural, considering my last step in the process tends to be a brown bob. Many people see brown and think boring; however, many leave out the positive aspects of the color. It is a whole different experience when the right brown is paired with the right cut for the right person. One of my clients who was platinum for over a decade was really apprehensive to go warm. However, after we did a warm chestnut bob on her, she described the transformation as finally looking like herself, which captures the magic of brown bobs!

You can choose from a variety of styles for your haircut, and specific textures that fit your vibe. There are also options for a straight, flat-ironed look, or a curly, formulated look. Additionally, brown hair can be changed to a range of colors, from a deep and dark espresso, to a lighter and more vibrant coppery and golden caramel. With a change of color, the overall feel of the hairstyle is drastically different. If you’re thinking of going for a shorter hair style, or warmer tones, look through these hairstyles. I know you’ll get inspired!

#1: Rounded Chocolate Bob with a Little Wispy Fringe Situation

This is giving me French girl energy and I love it! The sides are nice and round and full, which is ideal for those whose hair tends to do nothing and lay flat. And that fringe is phenomenal! It’s nice and airy, and so it won’t feel heavy on your forehead. It’s soft and there to soften the whole look and gives the cut purpose. If your hair is fine and you have been scared to get bangs, this is the style I would recommend. All you need is a little mousse to scrunch into your hair while it’s damp, and then use a round brush to blow dry.

Soft Cocoa Bob with Curtain Layers

#2: Cocoa Brown Bob with Those Pretty Curtain Pieces

I always go back to curtain layers as it gives an effect that is difficult to achieve with other methods. These layers end around the cheekbone area which helps them catch the light and frame the face. The warm cocoa brown as a color is also nice and complimentary with no brassy tones. Another reason I love this haircut is the fact that post wash, simple blow dry, and about 10 minutes and you’ve got incredibly beautiful, naturally styled hair. The colour of your hair has such great dimension that it will photograph well, as I know that’s super important. The only product I would recommend is a finishing texturising spray.

Modern Brunette Bob with Soft Waves

#3: Soft Brunette Waves at Shoulder Length

People want their hair to look effortless. With this style, it looks like it happened totally by chance. The beautiful, loose waves, plus the deep brunette color of the hair, gives it a very luxurious look. This is a very hard style to pull off, but having your hair look like it is unstyled is amazing. If your hair is straight all the way to thick, and you want it to look good without having to do a ton of work, this is the style for you. To top the style off, all you need is a bit of sea salt spray and your fingers.

#4: Dark Brunette Bob with Soft Layers Through It

I love a deep dark brunette that is so rich it looks black in some lights but warms up in the sun. That is what’s going on here and the layering is really soft, not chunky or obvious, just enough to keep it from looking like a solid block of hair. It sits above the shoulders at that perfect length where you can still tuck it behind your ears. You can pull half of it up if you want, but it looks nice just hanging there. If your hair is finer this would actually work well for you because the soft layers create the illusion of more hair without removing too much weight.

Sleek Medium Brown Bob with Subtle Layers

#5: Medium Brown Bob, Very Sleek, Very Clean

I understand that sleek, straight bobs can seem a little severe, but this one features softer elements. The subtle layers on the ends provide an overall polished and smooth look without feeling stiff. Medium brown hair is a color that flatters just about everyone, if not everyone. I would suggest this bob if you have job interviews, weddings, or if you want to feel especially put together. You can for sure achieve this look on a Tuesday. Use a smoothing serum to increase shine, and run a flat iron at medium heat over everything to set the style in place really well.

#6: Layered Brunette Bob with a Little Dimension

The layers are fabulous! It sits at the jawline and moves outwards in a really nice way to open the face. The highlights are very subtle, and you could miss them, but they do a lot for the cut and create depth that a single-process brown cannot achieve. With the length just below the chin, that is actually one of my favourite lengths for a bob; it’s short enough to feel really changed, but long enough that you’re not panicking about it. A light styling cream on the mid-lengths would keep everything soft and touchable.

Transformative Rich Chocolate Bob with Voluminous Layers

#7 Rich Chocolate Bob That Completely Changed the Game

Dull and lifeless is how most clients feel about their hair prior to their cut and how they feel about aging. Post haircut, the dullness has been lifted, and volume is added. This look is life-giving and the way it frames the face is wonderful, especially for longer face shapes. This is the type of work that gets me emotional at my station because the difference is what matters most at the end of the day. The movement that is created is remarkable because it was missing before. The dark chocolate color added an unexpected illusion of thickness and if this is how your hair has been feeling, then get this done! It has been lifeless, but now, it will be full of life and feel so much better. The color of the deep warm chocolate also looks fuller and helps a ton. You will love the results and the reshaping will be needed every six to eight weeks because of the layers that were added, but it is going to be worth it!

Sleek Chestnut Bob with Asymmetrical Precision

#8 Chestnut Bob with an Asymmetrical Edge

I like the intelligent and almost artisanal quality to this. The nuanced asymmetry creates a contemporary elegance without looking overly ‘haircut-y’. The chestnut colour looks nice and warm against the warmth. This is a stylist’s cut, if that makes sense, in that the precision is the defining element. If you like straight hair that is tidy and organised, this is one of the best options available, although you will need to maintain those trims to keep the lines of the cut.

Sleek Tawny Bob with Precision Cut Edges

#9 Tawny Bob with Really Sharp Edges

If you want to give off a polished and professional vibe, this is the cut you need to get. Seriously, a precision bob with a warm tawny brown? Pure class and competence. The ends look laser cut! And because of the shorter length, the thick hair won’t feel too heavy or overwhelming. Plus, this cut has a really nice shape that sits perfectly along the jaw. While you won’t be able to do a ton of different things with this cut, this one style is so good you won’t even care.

Lively Cinnamon Swirl Bob with Volumizing Curls

#10 Cinnamon Brown Bob with Bouncy Curls

Bobs don’t have to be sleek to be classy and this look proves that. The light reflecting off those curled layers is mesmerizing. The curls really add bounce to the style, and the warmth of the cinnamon color is the cherry on top. If you have fine or medium hair and want it to look thicker, then a curled layered bob is a great choice for you. The only downside is that a curling iron will be part of your daily routine. The result will be amazing shape and striking volume that bounces with you. The color also looks good as it grows out.

Softly-Tousled-Caramel-Brown-Bob

#11 Tousled Caramel Brown Bob

I find myself repeating this color time and time again because clients recognize and favorite this warm caramel brown that gives the illusion of a sun-kissed tan. This is a relaxed and natural style and the movement in this cut is achieved through good layering rather than a lot of product and effort. It is rare that color and cut work equally, but here they do, and neither is overshadowing the other. For medium density hair, this should definitely be on your inspo board if you want a style that looks good when air dried. The caramel shade is one of the most forgiving tones for when your roots start to show, meaning you can go longer between color appointments because you won’t need to come in as often.

Chic Curled Bob with Natural Root Fade

#12 Curled Chocolate Bob with a Root Fade

I really like the root fade here! The top shadow mixes seamlessly with the rich chocolate that is mid and end. The curls really help blend It. I think the texture is spot on with those curls. The cut also hits at the jaw and highlights the cheekbones beautifully. The volume the curls give makes sure it doesnt look too sharp and angualr. This is such a great choice if you want a more intentional color that isnt going to require salon trips every four weeks!

Elegant Tawny Textured Bob with Wispy Bangs

#13 Tawny Textured Bob with Wispy Bangs

I was sold as soon as I saw the bangs. I can tell they made the cut softer and more effortless rather than thick and chunky. The bangs paired with the tawny brown color create such a nice friendly vibe. The layers are well done to remove bulk, that’s exactly what you want to avoid a bob that gets too big and triangular. It’s nice to have a cut that looks good for everyday wear, and this is great because it’s very sleek without feeling too much. I know how much you care about the cut keeping its shape, so I’m sure it will do really well over the months. Those bangs will need regular trims because they’ll definitely grow out quickly, and end up poking your eyes when you least expect it.

Timeless Soft-Textured Brunette Bob

#14 Classic Brunette Bob with Soft Texture

Overthinking makes it easy to make bad decisions. This needs to be what overthinking does. It may look simple, but plenty of care went into making a nice bob. The color of the bob may not stand out by itself, but with some appropriate shading, it can attract attention. It has a natural color that will pair with anything while still looking professional. The length of the cut will mean it will take more care to keep it looking neat, but at least day to day maintenance will be quite low.

Dynamic Auburn Textured Bob with Soft Waves

#15 Auburn Textured Bob with Movement

Auburn is one of those colors where the tones change so much depending on the lighting, and this cut shows that perfectly. The waves and textured layers mean from warm, copper to deep, chocolate brown. I love how multi-dimensional this looks. It is such an illusion to think more complicated coloring techniques were used when a lot of it is all done in the color placement. This cut is right at the mid neck level, which I think is perfect for this length of the bob because the layers are cut long enough to give them room to really move. For fine hair type, you will just have to work a little harder with styling products to achieve this much body, but it’s achievable!

Striking Caramel Brunette Blunt Bob

#16 Caramel Brunette Blunt Bob

I’m glad blunt bobs are here to stay because the right blunt cut looks phenomenal. This haircut has no layers, just a simple blunt cut with the ends perfectly even. The warm caramel brown color adds some softness to the look. Blunt cuts are really great for fine hair because they create an illusion of thickness and volume. The downside is that with this kind of cut you have to get haircuts often because any uneven growth is super noticeable and split ends stick out like a sore thumb. If you’re willing to put in the effort, this look is great.

Textured Brown Bob with Soft Waves

#17 Brown Bob with Soft Waves and Texture

I like the relaxed feel of this style. The waves look smooth and the texture looked effortlessly done. The hair looks like it’s naturally doing what it needs to. The brown color will work with most skin tones and the layers add some volume to the crown and mid lengths without the ends looking too thin. This will look good in photos and will change from daytime to night time looks without having to restyle it. Based on your hair type, you may need to refresh the waves every morning or every other morning, but once you get the hang of it, this will be quick.

Brunette Waves with Soft Graduated Layers

#18 Brunette Waves with Graduated Layers

The graduated layers here look really nice! They are shorter in the back and get longer towards the front. This creates a natural movement and the layers help to frame your face. It will be high effort when wet, and low effort when dry. The waves will be soft and loose, and the graduation will help to give a nice bouncy shape. The brunette color is both neutral and rich, allowing it to catch the light in a very pretty way with the movement of the waves. I really love to do this type of cut for clients. It looks polished enough for the office during the week, but is laid back enough for the weekend.

Gleaming Copper A-Line Bob with Smooth Finish

#19 Gleaming Copper A-Line Bob

I get that copper can be a huge commitment, but paired with an A-line haircut, it works perfectly! An A-line has longer front pieces which gives a really flattering jaw contouring effect. Also, the copper color is warm enough to brighten a fair/medium complexion, without being too red. I think the ends being separated is nice, It gives the look a softer feel. I love that this style has a lot of movement to it. It is a super clean look, and will take a round brush and blow dryer to get it there, but smooth styles like this are always worth the effort!

Chic Espresso Bob with Subtle Highlights

#20 Espresso Bob with a Hint of Highlight

A colour choice that I enjoy working with is deep espresso brown. It is very warm and dramatic but still feels elegant. Deep espresso brown is a nice substitute for black, which can sometimes wash people out. This chin-length bob has a very distinct and clean line, and that level of detail gives this entire cut a polished appearance. The delicate highlights around the face brighten it slightly, and they are so spaced out that they do not disturb the overall depth of the look. I’m suggesting this to all my clients with fine to medium hair as I feel the blunt perimeter gives an illusory sense of thickness and for that reason the slight layering in the back provides just enough volume to stop it looking flat. You will need to come in regularly to keep that bottom line clean, but the colour is very easy to take care of and the deep espresso brown fade is very natural so you won’t have to think about it for a while.

Vibrant Maroon Wavy Bob with Textured Ends

#21 Maroon Wavy Bob with Textured Ends

Do you want a talking point for your hair? How about this style? The maroon is a gorgeous color and the waves give a sparkly appearance as the color is constantly changing. The ends are what take this from just a basic bob to something much more fun. The cut is neat enough to look good but not overly messy. If your hair is on the thicker side, this look is especially stunning as the volume works with the waves. The color will fade, and as time passes you may be tempted to refresh it. In between touch ups it’ll soften into a lovely warm burgundy brown.

Sleek Ash-Brown Bob with Texturized Edges

#22 Ash Brown Bob with Texturized Edges

Ash brown deserves all the praise in the world! It is such a stunning color and super modern. It looks fab on people with cool undertones or gray-blue eyes. The bob is cut straight at the jaw with texture at the ends to keep it feeling fresh and modern and not that corporate vibe if you know what I mean. The shape is super clean and the color does a lot to keep it interesting. This is a perfect option for fine to medium hair because you are getting a lot of structure and movement with out the layers to thin it out. As long as you keep up with trims, the style will do the work for you!

Copper-Toned Layered Bob with Soft Fringe

#23 Copper Bob with a Soft Fringe

I love the copper color! It perfectly sits between brown and red, and when warm light hits it, it is hard not to be drawn to it. The fringe is slightly off to the side, as this is softer and more relaxed than a blunt bang. The layers throughout the fringe break the bulk, while still maintaining a lot of volume and shape. If trying a fringe is on your list, then I think this is a really good option. This type of wispy bang is very forgiving and grows out nicely. The layers will be especially appreciated if your hair is thick! The copper will be a little bit of maintenance, but since we use color safe conditioner to keep it vivid, this will be a nice addition to your routine.

Sleek Chestnut Bob with Subtle Layers

#24 Chestnut Bob, Clean and Versatile

Some clients have commented on my portfolio saying it’s too simple. I try and get them to understand that not everything has to be so ostentatious. Some styles do not need to emphasize the cut, the detail, the design, the color, ect. Take this chestnut bob for example. The color is warm and natural and the cut is nice. There are some very subtle layers to keep the look from being too ‘helmety’. It will be worth the effort you put into styling your hair because it will fall just right and move a lot with the cut. It will not need much styling and will look good whether it is tucked behind your ears or left down, pinned back or however you want to wear it. Overall I would recommend this hair to my clients who want to look good with minimum effort in the mornings.

Refined Mocha Bob with Textured Ends

#25 Mocha Bob with Textured Ends

I appreciate all the detailing that was put into the mocha coloring here. The warm, dark color looks like it could be on an expensive designer bag, which is a compliment. The textured ends give it some edge, and the length is a perfect above the shoulder length where it’s modern and fresh but still has enough weight to swing. The color is super versatile and I can see this working on a lot of people regardless of skin tone. The cut will work on most hair textures too. Just be sure to keep the textured ends trimmed regularly so they don’t look messy, that’s the only maintenance required.

Polished Golden Mocha Bob with Side Sweep

#26 Golden Mocha Bob with a Side Sweep

Golden tones create a wonderful dimension to the mocha brown that is hard to explain. Tones reflect and create a warmth that flat brown colors do not have. The side sweep creates movement and nice directionality which is nice because it gives you something to work with when styling. You can sweep it to one side or part it in the middle or tuck one side back. The cut is simple, slightly above the shoulders with a little graduation from back to front but the color elevates it a lot. If you have been doing the same single-process brown for the last few years and you want to upgrade without going all the way to a balayage, this subtle golden dimension is a beautiful middle ground.

Tousled Chestnut Brown Bob with Textured Waves

#27 Tousled Chestnut Bob with Wavy Texture

Texturizing is the best way to get an effortless look on your bob. This chestnut cut has soft, natural waves that create body and give movement to the hair. It looks like she just ran her fingers through it and walked out the door! Additionally, the hair color is warm and rich without being overly dark. It is definitely one of those shades that looks better in the sun. If you have thinner hair, this style of tousled waves creates so much more volume. The length of the cut is just below the chin, which is flattering on almost everyone and very versatile!

Effortless Tawny Textured Bob

#28 Tawny Textured Bob, Easy and Warm

The vision and style of this one is so effortless, and I appreciate how comfortable and welcoming the tawny color is. I love how the texture is just enough to be alive and not messy. I noticed some slight asymmetry, which most people wouldn’t notice, but I think it adds a great modern touch to the cut. If you’re trying to achieve the look of fullness with thinner hair, this approach with layers and texture is super effective. The color is also ideal since it’ll blend with the most natural shades of brunette as it grows, so you won’t have a harsh root line after four weeks.

Lustrous Chestnut Wavy Bob

#29 Wavy Chestnut Bob with Shine

This reflection is phenomenal. It looks so polished and the color is a beautiful glossy chestnut. The waves create shine and reflect light at different angles. The cut is mid-length, so you have a lot of styling choices. Hair that is straightened, defined curls, or loose waves will look good. For hair that is medium texture, this is ideal because it is not so thick that the waves will be weighted down. A light mousses worked through damp hair will help with that.

Soft-Caramel-Waves-with-Natural-Texture

#30 Caramel Waves with Natural Texture

I woke up like this cuts are always good and this one is no exception. The way the waves give the cut texture and the caramel color is warm and sun-kissed, and makes you looking healthy and rested (even if you aren’t). The cut is above the shoulder so it’s gonna bounce and move a lot. The waves give it a nice casual feel instead of looking too structural or too serious. If you have a little bit of natural texture or waves, this hairstyle is gonna work with, not against, what you have. I love this kind of styling instruction cause all you have to do is a scrunch and let it air dry.

Charming Chestnut Curls with Subtle Highlights

#31 Chestnut Curls with Subtle Highlights

Stop straightening your hair into a bob! Look how amazing the natural curls are! The curls with the chestnut color and the highlights give life to the curls by reflecting light in a different way for each curl. The layered cut really helps it not look super triangular by giving it bounce. It’s literally the perfect length to show the curl pattern while not getting super weighed down. Using a good moisturizing conditioner really helps the curls and will keep them looking amazing!
