50 Daring Bottleneck Bob Haircuts for Ladies In Their 50s That Are Easy to Style

A bottleneck bob is a haircut that many people might avoid simply because of its name. What people seem to misunderstand is that this is a bob that has a slightly more formal look. It narrows at the nape of the neck and creates more of a fanned out look instead of a traditional funnel rather than an elaborate fanned out look. This shape is extremely versatile, and for those who don’t want to spend a lot of time blow-drying their hair, you don’t have to. This is going to take care of most of the effort for you.

My example is a client of mine that is about 53 years old. She had been wearing the same long layered hairstyle since her kids were in elementary school ! A long time right? And not because she loved the style. She didn’t even know how else to style her hair. This scaredness led her to perpetually keep that hair length. We bounced around some ideas for the style. She wanted something that felt like her but was also ‘light’, ‘current’, and the type of style that she could just ‘wash and go’. By that she meant very little effort to style the hair after washing. On that day I gave her a bottleneck bob and something incredible happened. She sat in my chair, locked eyes with herself in the reflection and kept staring for 1 minute before she said a single word! The interesting thing about this haircut is that it has been on trend for some time. Not another soul in my salon has had the same haircut as my client that day. There is so much more to this specific cut, and this is just the starting point to some of my favourite styles.

Textured Silver Bob with Soft Volume

#1: Silver Bob with a Little Lift and a Lot of Texture

This look is all about the color. The silver color is stunning. The color is not flat or dull. There is depth and dimension throughout the color that captures light in an alive way. The cut sits right at the chin and the layers give her great movement without the hair looking thin. This cut is a great option if you have fine hair because the volume at the crown comes from the cut, not a lot of round brushing. It will still need a bit of effort to achieve the lift, but it will be low maintenance and not a lot of effort. It’s the type of cut that looks like you just have naturally gorgeous hair.

Collarbone-Length Bottleneck Bob with Wispy Micro-Curtain Fringe

#2 Collarbone-Length Bob with a Wispy Little Fringe

This is a longer version of the bottleneck and I love what the micro-curtain fringe does here, it opens the whole face without having to go all out with a full fringe. The babylights placement is also super lovely, as they brighten the eyes, and the root shadow means she doesn’t have to stress about regrowth every five weeks in the salon. The hair has the ideal texture for this cut fine to medium with a bit of natural wave, which is, to be honest, the sweet spot. The one thing I would say is the fringe and that soft inward bend at the ends will take a bit of styling in the morning, a light texturizer and a quick finger raking should do the trick and it should be no big deal.

Chin-Length Stacked Bob with Feathered Mini Fringe

#3 Stacked Bob with That Little Feathered Fringe

I love the crown lift here. The back stacking does most of the work and the end result is a beautiful rounded shape that gives movement to the hair. The mini fringe is really cute and makes it modern. The natural wave will compliment the cut nicely too. The only thing is on those flat hair days you will need something for some root volume and a root volumizer will do the trick.

Short Layered Bob with Feathered Fringe and Soft Root Depth

#4 Feathered Fringe with a Soft Ash Root Melt

What I immediately notice is the color combination. The ash highlights contrasted with the warmer lowlights is an amazing combination. It adds so much depth to the whole cut and makes it look more expensive. The feathered bangs are cut so well. They are light enough to not feel heavy on the forehead, but still solid enough to give good framing. This cut is going to look awesome with a good amount of product to give it that piecey effect. A light styling paste on the ends will do the job perfectly. With a cowlick at the crown like this client, I say embrace it because it gives you free lift!

Rounded Bottleneck Bob with Micro-Feathered Curtain Bangs and Soft Lowlights

#5 Rounded Bottleneck with the Softest Curtain Bangs

This is a cut that brings loads of elements together and makes the end result look effortless. But really looking gives you the appreciation this cut deserves. The rounded shape, the micro brush cut fringe soft enough to camouflage cheekbones, and the low lights that blend gray without “erasing” that color. Everything just works. With the interior stacking she has fullness without bulk. That’s the whole game when you’re dealing with that changing density hair. She’s going to need to put in a little shaping in the morning to hold that rounded silhouette and we’re talking about a few minutes between rounded she’s just not going to need to do a whole lot of production.

Chin-Grazing Rounded Bottleneck Bob with Soft Root Shadow

#6 Clean Rounded Shape with a Root Shadow That Grows Out Beautifully

This silhouette has so much sophistication and definition. The shape is remarkably bottleneck, narrowing beautifully at the nape with an extraordinary undercurved jaw, and the shadow root is blended so seamlessly it will look intentional for weeks between appointments! For straight to slightly wavy hair, it’s going to be a dream. The only thing is, you’ll need a round brush blowout or a quick run through with a smoothing iron to keep it that way. If you are very air-dry-commitment-oriented, this may be less realistic for your routine!

Chin-Length Copper Bob with Subtle Interior Stacking and Micro Curtain Fringe

#7 Warm Copper at the Jaw with a Little Stack for Lift

I love how warm and inviting the copper looks! The light gold highlights running through it create just the right amount of contrast so that the color doesn’t look flat in different lighting. The cut looks great, sitting with the ends right at the jaw and a short interior stack at the crown which gives her some lift without any obvious layering. The micro curtain fringe is just shy of being there, just enough to soften the forehead. Just a little heads up about warm coppers like this: they tend to fade quicker than cooler tones so a color depositing gloss between appointments is going to help keep it from getting brassy.

Chin-Length Wavy Bottleneck Bob with Wispy Center-Split Fringe

#8 Wavy Bottleneck with a Center-Part Fringe That Feels Effortless

This hairstyle looks messy, and that’s on purpose. The bangs are split down the middle, and the waves are sort of messy. Achieving this look can be difficult unless your hair has the right texture. The girl in the picture has a crown cowlick, which gives volume to her bangs. If your hair is the same, creating this look will not take much effort. You will only need to blow dry your bangs to position them, and that should be good enough. If you want to maintain the messy look, use a hair paste.

Warm Copper Bottleneck Bob with Face-Framing Layers

#9 That Warm Copper Again, This Time with More Wave

Your profile image looks great, I can see that you enjoy warm copper tones on women in their 50s and so do I. The waves here are natural which look really good, and the texture along with those beautiful framing layers are so flattering. She will love this. Diffuser users will find this cut to be really easy. Just scrunch and go. The front layers will need some texturing at the crown, but these little quirks usually custom the cut. The root shadow keeps things grounded, and the balayage gives the copper real movement.

Chin-Length Bottleneck Bob with Feathered Interior Layers

#10 The Quiet, Well-Behaved Bottleneck

I love seeing a haircut that gives you a lot without requiring a lot of work to maintain it. Those end bends are a super satisfying look! The diagonals on the interior point cuts give a nice polished, tucked look. The babylights and root smudge are just enough to add some interest without screaming “I just came from the salon!”. The same finish will require a round brush blowout, or at the very least, a root texturizing spray and some intention with the dryer. If you’re looking for something you can truly leave alone, this probably isn’t it, but if you love spending 10 minutes on your hair and having it super polished, this is a great pick!

Sun-Kissed Chin-Length Bottleneck Bob with Soft Curtain Fringe

#11 Sun-Kissed Silver Melt with an Airy Fringe

The coloring method minimizes contrast on the hair, making it appear natural so that it doesn’t look as though it has grown out because the hair will grow out and it will just look like your hair. If you are tired of being on a color schedule, then this method really helps you out. The cut is a simple straight bottleneck with a layered curtain bang and is not very difficult. Rather than working against it, it works with the slight wave in her hair. The texturizing needs to be very precise here. It needs to be done with a razor or point cutting because if it is done with thinning shears, then it could look too wispy in some areas, especially with finer hair.

Chin-Length Textured Bob with Brow-Grazing Feathered Fringe

#12 Brow-Grazing Fringe with Great Internal Movement

The length of this fringe is great! Being right at the eyebrows really softens the look, and it doesn’t hide her eyes. The internal shorter layers create that bottleneck lift at the top. The razor point texturing at the ends adds airiness, and this all really suits her oval face. To be honest, this doesn’t grab me as much as some of the others. It’s well executed, but fairly straightforward. I wouldn’t choose this cut for really coarse hair but for someone with fine to medium wavy hair, I think it will be a good everyday cut. Daily styling will be necessary though.

Ash-Bronde Chin-Length Bottleneck with Razor-Cut Interior Layers

#13 Ash-Bronde with Razor-Cut Layers That Actually Move

The ash-brown is a great color for her; It is modern enough to not wash her out. The babylights subtly blur the early greys without making it a whole thing. The taper at the nape creates the bottleneck shape and the razor interior layers move in ways that are really visible with head turns. Round brush and a diffuser to style, plus some toning to stop the ash from getting warm are a must. The cut is going to hold shape well in between appointments, which is really what matters here.

Ash-Bronze Textured Chin-Length Bob with Feathered Micro-Fringe

#14 Ash-Bronze with a Feathered Micro-Fringe

What I want to talk about here is the fringe, especially how it creates a very specific effect. The fringe creates a layered effect at the ends that just brushes over the brows. It looks almost accidental, but I think it is supposed to look like that. Getting micro fringes to sit like this on fine to medium hair is quite the challenge, especially with a cowlick at the part. So, huge props to whoever did this. The cowlick adds some dimension, while the root melt and babylights do the same. The point-cut ends prevent it from looking boxy. If you’re thinking about getting a fringe, but feeling a little nervous, this is a great reference to show. It is light on commitment, but still changes the overall vibe of the cut. Just a heads up, it does require some daily styling for it to sit like this, but I think the result is worth it.

Textured Blunt Bob with Wispy Fringe

#15 A Really Clean Blunt Bob with Hidden Bottleneck Shaping

Sometimes the best cut is one where the bottleneck shape is not obvious until you see the cut from the back. That’s what is happening here. From the front, it looks like a blunt bob with a soft, point cut, textured, and polished. But the hidden shaping underneath is adding weight to the shape that sits at the jawline which helps give the whole style balance. This is a good choice for clients wanting a bottleneck bob look without it feeling too trendy. Round brushing the ends to create finishing touches will be easy, and if the hair is on the thicker side, some internal thinning will be done to remove excess weight.

Chestnut Stacked Bottleneck Bob with Center-Parted Soft Fringe

#16 Warm Chestnut with Interior Graduation

The color is beautiful and warm. It’s a chestnut brown and has subtle babylights that reflect light nicely. The crown has some interior graduation which creates volume, and the center-parted bangs are soft enough to shift them to the side if you fancy a change. This is a highly technical cut; the interior stacking and point cutting at the ends truly requires a master – if done badly, it can look very boxy. If you can find a stylist who does this well, you will want to keep coming back for this cut.

Relaxed Shoulder-Length Bottleneck Bob with Center-Parted Micro-Bangs

#17 A Longer, More Relaxed Take with Center-Parted Micro-Bangs

Because it sits on the shoulders, it’s a lovely option if you’re not sure about going chin length. The micro bangs and center part are really cute, and the internal graduation at the nape gives a soft inward tuck without being too built-up. This length is great because you can still pull it back, clip it, do a low pony etc. on days when you don’t feel like doing a full on style. You’ll have to shape the bangs every day, and if you’re thinking about going ash-blonde, you’ll need to tone it every few weeks. That being said, this is one of the more straight forward little bottlenecks.

Light Textured Bottleneck Bob with Feathered Micro-Bangs

#18 Light and Airy with a Silver Root Smudge

The silver root smudge adds dimension to the hair, and the cut lets the texture do the work, which is appreciated. The nape soft internal graduation and point cut texturizing to the ends creates a flare, and I mean subtle, but it looks very fresh. This is a good example of working with what you have. For fine hair, especially at the roots, you may have to coax it a bit, but the cut is designed to reduce that. The bangs will require a tiny bit of shaping, and I mean a tiny bit. A finger push and a blow dry will do.

Textured Jaw-Length Bottleneck Bob with Soft Micro-Curtain Fringe

#19 Jaw-Length with a Micro-Curtain Fringe and Beautiful Movement

I love talking about movement, and it’s easy to see why! The cut shows so much movement. I love how the natural waves look with the babylights and root shadow. The combination creates depth and draws the eye to the hair. With the natural depth from the cut, it gives the illusion of more going on. The interior layering that tamed the crown cowlick is perfect. The micro curtain fringe really softens the jawline without closing the face. This cut will look great on you if you have good waves. If your waves aren’t as good, don’t worry! You may just need a product to create that wave look, but the cut is low maintenance. It will be great for anyone with a decent amount of texture and medium to coarse hair.

Soft Choppy Blonde Bottleneck Bob with Subtle Root Shadow

#20 Choppy Blonde Bottleneck That Feels Light

You can easily style and maintain this haircut. The choppy texture gives added dimension and the blonde hair with slight root shadow prevents it from looking overdone. The hair hitting around the jawline allows for a nice lift with the cowlick at the crown. This cut is ideal for someone wanting a trendy style without spending a lot of time fixing it every day. The bangs will need some maintenance and if you have blonde highlights you will need a toning gloss to get rid of any brassy tones, but that is a small price to pay.

Soft Tapered Bottleneck Bob with Face-Framing Curtain Fringe

#21 Tapered Bottleneck with Long Curtain Bangs

These curtain bangs are longer than most of the other options. If you want to try a fringe but aren’t ready to commit to something short, these bangs will work. They will blend nicely into all the face framing layers so there won’t be any harsh lines, just a soft sweep of hair over the tops of your cheeks. The cut will taper from chin to shoulder which gives it a different look compared to a standard bob. It’s more relaxed and less blocky or geometric. The root smudge and really subtle lowlights are working wonders for soft seamless regrowth. If you want this to be low maintenance that will be easy. You will need a light styling cream for hold and some careful root blending.

Feathered Copper Bottleneck Bob with Airy Fringe

#22 Feathered Copper with Crown Lift and an Airy Fringe

I’m excited to share another copper! This model features shoulder length hair with internal layering for great movement and a feathered fringe that feels light and airy, just enough to frame the face. Coppers do wonderful things to the complexion, especially warm tones. The unfortunate downside to this color is that it will require regular upkeep to maintain the brightness. You’ll need to book regular gloss/toner appointments to maintain the color. If you have a frontal cowlick like this client, you’ll need to work with it to even it out. A low heat thermal set or a quick round brush will do the trick!

Voluminous Chestnut Bottleneck Bob with Soft Face-Framing Fringe

#23 Chestnut Bottleneck with a Bright Little Face-Framing Fringe

I really love the baby lights at the fringe. They look like a highlight, or like the sun. The back layers give a bottleneck effect as well as crown lift, and there’s a really lovely soft cheek flick from the reverse layering at the temples. The way her natural wave falls is ideal. You might want to do some heat styling to really define those inward curls, and you’ll definitely need to use a gentle toner to keep the babylights from getting brassy, but the truth is, this is a haircut that will really take care of itself.

Chocolate Bottleneck Bob with Soft Micro-Bangs and Crown Lift

#24 Rich Chocolate Bottleneck with Micro-Bangs

With the micro-bangs and lovely chocolate brown color, the style doesn’t feel too safe. You have a natural crown cowlick which provides some lift. Clients tend to apologize for this, but I say it’s doing you a favor. The nape stacking with the tapered point cut layers give you that fullness along with that nice inward shape. The micro-bangs will require some styling every day, preferably while they are still slightly damp. Of the fine ends, some will become quite wispy, and while they are going to need some interior layering to support this, overall this is a really nice combination of classic and modern.

Short Textured Bottleneck Bob with Piecey Fringe

#25 Piecey Textured Bottleneck with Personality

I really appreciate the enthusiasm on this one! You’re correct that the piecey fringe adds an attitude, and those textured ends feel more lived-in than precious (in a good way of course). Short internal stacking at the nape and graduated point cutting creates some crown lift which I love and the root shadow with face-framing babylights give a subtle glow to the skin but are light enough that it doesn’t look like a wig. If your hair is thick and coarse, you may need a bit more thinning to achieve this, and micro-fringe may require some light styling every day, but overall this is a very easy cut that’s flattering for fine to medium wavy hair.

Soft Stacked Silver Bob with Curtain Fringe

#26 Silver Stacked Bob with a Curtain Fringe That Frames Beautifully

The silver looks beautiful, and the ashy lowlights add some dimension. The curtain fringe frames her eyes nicely, and the short stacked nape with internally layered feathers provide excellent crown volume. The root smudge allows regrowth to appear intentional instead of overdue. The cut is well-balanced and shows off technically artistic skill; the 45 degree grad with point cutting in the back has to be exact or it all falls apart. The bangs and color may require some maintenance. A little daily styling, some blending, and if you have a crown cowlick, make sure your stylist scissor it to the layers instead of working against it.

Chic Textured Bob with Soft Layers

#27 Rich, Dark Textured Bob That Feels Effortless

This hairstyle may look expensive, but trust me, it isn’t. It really won’t break the bank. It’s a simple bob haircut, but done really well. The angle of the cut is very flattering, and it provides a nice look without having too many visible layers. The soft layers add movement without looking really layered. The hair has a ridiculous amount of volume because the ends at the length of the jaw are cut straight across, and the dark color provides a lot of light that lighters do not achieve. It looks especially good with a little mousse and some blow drying, but it will really need consistent trimming. The clean cut will become much softer quickly as the ends start to grow out.

Textured Bob with Face-Framing Layers

#28 Collarbone-Length Textured Bob with Layers That Move

The layers on this cut provide movement and face framing value without the hair looking thin and choppy. The collarbone length is versatile as it can be long enough to pull back and short enough to feel like a real change. The subtle balayage is warm and dimensional without competing with the cut. The wavy texture is really natural and effortless. For thick hair this cut will work wonders as the layers will manage the weight really well. It will require regular trimming to maintain the shape but there is pretty minimal styling to do.

Softly Textured Bob with Feathered Layers

#29 Feathered Layers That Do the Softening for You

This is a soft, easy cut. Perfect for the customer who comes in and says they want something different, but not too different. The feathered layers soften the jaw, the cheeks, the chin, even the forehead a bit. The chin length keeps it feeling fresh, instead of matronly. The highlights are just enough to dimension, without being over highlighted. Which is a good thing, and this colorist hit the mark. It is low-maintenance in a way that some cuts claim to be but aren’t. But you will want to keep up with the trims because feathered ends do start to look more scraggly than blunt ends.

Chic Rounded Bob with Soft Bangs

#30 Rounded Bob with Bangs That Keep Things Interesting

The bangs on this are just right for her face, neither being too heavy or too wispy, and they add just the right amount of definition and interest. The rounded bob is also a classic, and the subtle layering allows it to avoid looking like a helmet, which is something rounded bobs often struggle with. The thinness of her hair works in her favor, as it creates a lightness that is more difficult to achieve with thick hair. I recommend keeping this style looking sharp with a trim every six weeks. Daily styling should be minimal, and I expect it will consist of a quick brush and that is all.

Charming Textured Bob with Soft Waves

#31 Soft Waves That Add Life Without Trying Too Hard

I like this hairstyle because it looks laid-back, while also looking nice. The waves give it a natural, effortless vibe and the layers around the face are just enough that it isn’t too much. The shoulder length hair is really flattering for almost all face shapes (kind of like a universal donor for hair). If your hair is naturally wavy like this, then you probably won’t have to do much styling. Just a little finger combing as it air dries should do the trick. If your hair isn’t wavy naturally, then you might find yourself using a curling iron more than you’d like.

Modern Textured Bob with Subtle Layers

#32 Clean Lines with Just Enough Texture to Keep It Modern

The bangs do a good job of softening the overall appearance of a very structured cut. The layers are nice and balanced with the movement, which I find to be a big issue with layered bobs. I can see that she takes care of her hair because the natural shine makes a huge difference. If your hair falls flat, the best texturizing spray will be able to achieve that piece-y look. The cut is designed to look good with a minimum amount of styling.

Textured Bob with Soft Waves and Subtle Highlights

#33 Waves with Warmth and a Little Dimension

The highlights are warm and evenly distributed. They add dimension to the waves. One would think that styling a bob like this with soft waves would be easy. It actually takes skill to work with the hair’s natural texture. When you have wavy hair you’re halfway to this look. If your hair is straight then you’ll be facing some serious styling time. This look is youthful and the added color makes it even better.

Modern Textured Bob with Wispy Bangs

#34 Jaw-Length Bob with Wispy Bangs That Play Well Together

These bangs are lightweight. They are not too heavy, so they won’t sit down on your forehead like a curtain. The soft, gentle touch on the forehead of these bangs breaks that curtain-like barrier. The bangs and the hair that ends at the jawline will look flattering and will draw attention to your beautiful eyes and cheekbones. The finish is expertly layered so that the hair feels overworked and would give a nice movement to it. The look is easy and quick to set, but it will require a bit of product at the ends and a small touch of blow dryer to the bangs. However, your bangs are super trimmable. The moment your wispy bangs grow a bit past their proper length, it shifts everything wrong.

Textured Bob with Subtle Face-Framing Layers

#35 Warm Brunette Bob with Layers That Glow

The warm brunette shade allows the layers to stand out more in a way that a cooler tone can not. The face framing layers are excellent, they grab attention while not being too much. The soft waves look more natural than done, and give the hair more volume. The mid-length cut sits at chin length, which is a length most people consider to be comfortable because it’s familiar enough to not feel scary, but COVID enough to be a real change. For the ends to look more alive, make sure the hair is kept trimmed, and use a little bit of texturizing spray to create movement.

Chic Textured Bob with Subtle Layers

#36 Angled Bob with Highlights That Add Quiet Depth

The subtle angle on this cut is more modern compared to traditional straight-across bobs and the highlights won’t be the first thing you notice, but they will add some extra dimension. This is the kind of cut that works for brunch and a work meeting, which is what most of us really need. If you have fine hair density, it will work really well because it gives the cut an airy feel whereas a thicker density will take more effort to get that same effect. To get the most out of the shape of the hair, it will require a good amount of styling, especially since the angle will lose its sharpness over time. This cut really is versatile, not just versatile like other ways hairdressers will describe a cut to sell it.

Chic Curly Bob with Soft Bangs

#37 Curly Bob with Bangs That Frame Without Fussing

This is also a good point of reference if you have natural waves or if your hair is curly and you’ve been wanting to try a bob. The mid-length allows for the curls to really expand and move without being too out of control, and the soft bangs work with the curl instead of fighting it. What I also really appreciate about this is that it is celebrating the texture instead of trying to subdue it. The cut is designed to allow the curls to work and to form them into a more purposeful shape. The maintenance of this style will require certain curl-defining products, but the cut and the shape are what really do the work with this style. This haircut will be most ideal for people who have an oval or heart shape face.

Textured Shoulder-Length Bob with Soft Waves

#38 Shoulder-Length Waves That Style Themselves

This look gives off the best “I did not even try but look great” aura. The soft face framing layers and waves hit just right. If you naturally have waves in your hair, this style will be simple for you. You may need a bit of product in your hair and just scrunch it. Your waves may need some extra hold for the day, but you just need a light wave spray or cream to get that hold. If you want a look that can be worn polished or messy, this style is a fantastic choice.

Playful Curly Bob with Soft Fringe

#39 Copper Curls with a Fringe That Lights Up the Face

I love the warm copper tones in these curls! I wish I could convince every curly-haired client to try this. It allows the definition on every single curl to really shine through. The soft bangs also add a nice touch and help frame the face. It’s great to see that the volume is all natural because this is how curly hair should look. The mid-length really is in that ideal range where the curls have room to spring up without being weighed down. This is the kind of hair that should have a great set of curl products because it really needs some for definition. The cut is meant to be low effort and I do think it should be a wash, condition, and go situation, but it also needs product.

Textured Raspberry Bob with Soft Bangs

#40 Raspberry Bob That Commits to Color

I’m excited to see such adventurous color options! Raspberry is a wonderful choice. It’s a nice color, and with her wavy hair being so thick, it will be gorgeous and will soften look of the color. The hair will add a lot of dimension to the color. The soft bangs will help to balance the look too. The cut is practical and flattering. I will be honest, though, colors like this will need a lot of upkeep. We’re talking color depositing conditioners, heat protectant, and sulfate-free shampoo. If you’re up for all that maintenance, it’s a fun way to enter your 50s. Otherwise, it may be best to stick to the coppers.

Elegant Curly Bob with Subtle Layers

#41 Curly Bob with Subtle Layers and Good Bounce

This curly bob features a soft rounded shape that is extremely easy to wear. With soft layers, the rounded face framing design lets curls bounce at different lengths, creating volume. This style is best for fine to medium density hair, as the curls will provide the volume needed. If you have finer hair and looser curls, I would recommend a lightweight mousse to give an enhanced bounce without it being weighed down. Curly bobs do take longer to style compared to straight bobs as you’re working with the natural curl pattern. However once you’ve got your routine down, the daily maintenance is actually really easy. If you’re considering this style, highlights would really compliment this look.

Softly Textured Bob with Playful Waves

#42 Playful Waves at Just the Right Length

This cut sits just above the shoulders, making it a perfect length for where the waves blend (or stack) and provide maximum volume without too much hair or length. The warm highlights really add to the curl pattern and create a fresh and youthful look. If you’re rocking hair waves, you’re so lucky because this hair is seriously a wash-and-go situation—maybe a little mousse and a scrunch should do the trick. If the waves have been created with a curling wand, she will be required to do daily maintenance to keep them, but the effort is minimal in comparison to the payoff.

Chic Tousled Bob with Soft Curls

#43 Tousled Chocolate Bob with Soft Curl

This chocolate color is gorgeous and gives the hair a really healthy and shiny look. The shoulder length cut and soft curls delicately frame the face. Overall beautiful hair and color, as well as great shape to the cut, that will be low maintenance. You will probably just need some curl defining product in the morning to touch up. If you want something that will be polished, but not stiff, and feels really bouncy with texture, then go for this.

Modern Textured Bob with Effortless Waves

#44 Easy Waves That Work for Real Life

I like how practical this is. The lengths soften the sharp angles, the waves add some movement, and the shoulder cut is fine for busy mornings. There is nothing here that needs advanced skill or takes much time. Literally just a sea salt spray or lightweight cream through damp hair, defuse and dry or air dry and that’s it. Definitely not the most exciting cut on this list, but one of the most practical. Honestly, sometimes that is exactly what you need.

Playful Curly Bob with Textured Layers

#45 Mid-Length Curly Bob That Feels Fresh

The layers are well incorporated with the curls, providing various lengths that form movement and dimension in contrast to the hair all being one length with the same weight. The length is nice and keeps it manageable and the overall shape flatters most face shapes, ooh and heart! There is some commitment to curly hair, because you need the right products and technique to keep the curls looking good, but if you already have a curl routine, it’s just about getting a nice cut to compliment the routine. I would love to see a few highlights woven throughout to really catch the light.

Textured Wavy Bob with Soft Bangs

#46 Wavy Bob with Bangs That Balance Everything

The bangs on this style are defintely the focal point. They create a nice balance with the volume from the waves and help frame the face to pull the eyes up. The shoulder length offers versatility and the waves means fine hair will need less product to add body. This face framing works great with heart-shaped and oval faces. Once the waves are set, daily styling is easy. If your hair is naturally wavy, styling will be a breeze. But if your hair is straight, expect to use a round brush and your straightener to create the waves just how you like them every single morning. It’s important to be honest with yourself about this before you get the cut.

Playful Shaggy Bob with Soft Layers

#47 Shaggy Bob That Feels Playful

I do value a good shag haircut, and this one has got it all. The layers are just soft enough to be up to date, and the movement is interesting enough. The length being just above the shoulders keeps it more polished and avoids the rock-and-roll look. A little texture cream will help create that undone look. If you’re considering balayage highlights, this will be a great cut to go with them because the layers will show the dimension beautifully. Your shaggy layers should be trimmed regularly because beyond the first trim, they can go from intentional to messy. Ideally, this means every six to eight weeks.

Chic Textured Bob with Subtle Highlights

#48 Tousled Texture with Highlights That Know Their Place

The highlights on this hair look natural and brighten up the face and mid-lengths of the hair. The modern feel comes from the soft tousled texture, and the face-framing layers provide a nice movement and natural look to the hair. The cut suits the air-dry style so well that if the hair does the right thing on its own, most of the time, you can just leave it. A bit of humidity can cause more frizz than normal, especially if we have some strong natural waves, so the antidote is applying a light anti-frizz serum while the hair is still damp. The cut does require maintenance, and the highlights will require upkeep, but the cut is pretty low maintenance.

Elegant Layered Bob with Soft Textures

#49 Jawline Bob with Layers That Look Expensive

This layered bob is no different. The flattering jaw-length captures movement and the minimal highlights adds depth. All the elements come together for a look that is both formal and relaxed. The shape is designed for hair of fine to medium density. The layers creates the illusion of fullness without the hair being heavy enough to fall flat. With a finish like this a good texturizing spray is definitely your best friend. Effortless? No effort required!

Charming Textured Bob with Soft Curls

#50 Curly Texture with a Tousled, Warm Finish

This hairstyle has the softest defined curls i have seen. The balance of not looking crunchy or over styled can be difficult to achieve. It is a great length for round and oval face shapes, and sits above the shoulders. The slight tussle shows adds personality. I really like the subtle highlights idea with this cut, I think it would enhance the curl pattern and add depth to the overall haircut. Curls at this length will need some intention with product, and it won’t look good if you just wash and go, but once you develop good routine the daily upkeep does get easier. It is a warm and beautiful look of self-exploration instead of just a hairstyle.
