31 Blunt Bob Hairstyles That Are Chic and Easy to Style

A few weeks ago, one of my last customers said, “I want something simple,” and left with a blunt bob that she couldn’t stop playing with. That’s the thing about this cut, it looks simple, but the cut comes with a surprising amount of satisfaction. I have seen a client, who was growing her hair for years, get a blunt bob and for the first time, she looked and felt like herself. The *right* client appreciates the clean weight around the face, and that swing as they move, it just hits different.

The blunt bob I do for each client is different and that is due to their unique hair texture, density, and neck/jaw length. I had a client years ago with very fine hair who always kept it long because she thought that if she chopped it, it would make her hair look flat. After her chop to jaw length, she had all the proof she needed of the dramatic increase in thickness and couldn’t stop pulling it forward. That’s the thing about blunt bobs, they provide an optical illusion, a new feeling, and a new attitude all wrapped into one. I can’t wait to show you my 29 versions.

#1: Ash Blonde Blunt Bob with Darker Roots

This hairstyle expresses contrast beautifully! The cooler ash-blonde is a modern color choice and the contrast with darker roots stops the look from being overly uniform and adds personality. The cut is just above the shoulder and the line is really clean and intentional. If you gravitate toward a more deliberate look where the color isn’t grown out, this is a smart way to incorporate some depth without overly complex color choices.

#2: Platinum Blonde Blunt Bob

I either get excited or scared by platinum hair depending on the person, but on the right people it looks stunning! This is straight, one-length hair at chin level. It is super sleek and shiny. Maintaining the color is necessary, but a fresh color is really nice. To get that glass effect look, it just takes a good serum and a blow dry.

#3: Textured Blunt Bob with Easy Movement

The finish on this one is lovely and soft. The waves feel effortless because they are not overly done, and the blunt ends help the style stay polished and not messy. If you have naturally wavy hair and have been resisting it, a cut like this might be the moment you stop resisting, and begin working with what you have. This bob actually looks good on day 2, which is frankly, where a ton of styles hit the wall.

#4: Wavy Blunt Bob with Light Blonde Highlights

The balayage is very subtle but very effective. It really gives the waves something to highlight, while the cut itself is pretty simple, the color dimension makes the hair feel layered and more styled. This length is shoulder length, which is a comfortable length for most. It is long enough to put up if necessary, and short enough that it does not feel like a bob. For the waves to be a little more defined, I would recommend some texturizing spray on damp hair.

#5: Sleek Blunt Bob with Sharp Edges

I adore my job because of instances like this. Such a clean, nice line, and it sits amazing right under the jaw. Not too much to say about styling, the cut does it all; nice and clean, it speaks for itself. This will hold the edge line perfectly if your hair is medium to thick. You’ll be needing to come back sooner than you think for trims; even just a tiny bit of growth softens the line and you lose the entire effect.

Modern Blunt Bob with Chic Bangs

#6: Modern Blunt Bob with Bangs

The blunt bob with bangs is a fantastic look that may work for some people. The blunt bangs on straight hair really affect the overall shape of the face, and combined with the strong horizontal line at the ends, really creates a sharp graphic. Almost architectural. The hair seems to be in great shape which is important because this cut exposes a lot. To keep it this polished, a good shine serum is key. If your hair has any wave to it, keep in mind this is a daily styling look, and with the bangs, they’ll be the most maintenance.

#7: Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Waves

Are you considering a bob, but afraid it may appear overly stiff or formal? I have some ideas! The waves and shoulder-length cut provide a lovely softness making the style much more approachable. The ends are also smartly done, where removing weight just enough to avoid that heavy, non movable ‘helmet’ feeling thick hair creates. A simple wave cream scrunched in while damp enhances the style and you’re all set!

Sharp Angled Blunt Bob with Warm Tones

#8: Sharp Angled Blunt Bob with Warm Tones

I really like the honey-caramel color used in this piece. It goes with everything, & the combination of warmth with the crispness of the cut makes for a really fascinating soft/sharp dichotomy. I think the cut sits at a good angle, just above the shoulders. It should be especially good for people with more defined cheekbones because of the way it frames the face. The angle does most of the work, so be prepared for a lot of upkeep. The contrast will get pretty noticeable as it grows out.

#9: Chin-Length Textured Blunt Bob

I usually prefer chin length bob hairstyles because that length tends to suit a lot of people. This one has a great lightness to it, fine hair that has been cut so it moves and doesn’t just hang. The layers are internal, you can’t see them but you can feel them as the hair lifts and swings. If your hair is finer and you’ve been wanting to go shorter, this is a great option. Its one of those cuts that actually makes fine hair appear to be more than it is.

#10: Glossy Blunt Bob

The shine of the blunt bob is the most captivating aspect of this hairstyle. A bob like this showcases the best of the best in healthy looking hair. There is no need for fancy bobs here. It sits around shoulder length and just above. It has a simple and straightforward cut that has great fundamentals. This is the kind of style that requires a rule of thumb: \”less is more\”. If your hair is dry then instead of running a flat iron over it, try a good moisturising hair mask once a week instead.

#11: Choppy Textured Blunt Bob

The variation in style is so much fun and gives it a personal touch that a clean, blunt bob cut doesn’t have. It gives a nice, lived-in feel which is nice for fine hair as it looks fuller and more intentional. It’s an easy shoulder grazing cut that requires little maintenance and looks good even if it’s a bit messy. If you don’t want to spend much time styling in the mornings, this is a perfect option. The lived-in feel is aimed at being less maintenance, which is a huge time-saver, and even better when it’s a bit messy.

#12: Jawline Blunt Bob with Glossy Finish

A bob that hits right at the jaw is great for defining the whole area and giving your face an especially flattering sharpness. This particular style has a high-gloss finish that allows the straight hair to look almost liquid. It’s fairly easy to style from day to day, however, the cut itself has to be precise and stay precise. So, if you go for this, get on a regular trim schedule and don’t let it slide. With a style like this, the difference between a fresh cut and one that’s three weeks overdue shows through a lot.

#13: Textured Blunt Bob with Golden Highlights

I really enjoy the golden highlights, as they really warm up the overall look. The hair’s natural wave is being worked with, and it’s positioned to light just right to give the illusion of added movement. This color work certainly doesn’t look effortless, so it seems like a good colorist was essential to it. The hair length is also versatile, and considering the natural wave of your hair, it will.

#14: Sleek Blunt Bob with Side Part

The easiest option is a clean chin-length cut with straight hair and a side part. This will soften your face and the side part adds enough asymmetry so that the look isn’t too severe. This cut is ideal if you have fine or medium hair, and will look the most intentional without too much product. On days when you need a bit more, it’s easy to just grab a flat iron!

Polished Blunt Bob with Subtle Ombre

#15: Polished Blunt Bob with Ombre

The ombre is very pretty in the sense that it doesn’t have any huge changes. Instead, it has a subtle transition that creates movement in the hair and maybe a bit of interest without being too attention grabbing. The bottom blunt line gives you a solid base and then the rest is all coloring. This style definitely gives you that photographic quality, and, of course, it looks great in person too, which is a rare case with more colorful hair. The straight hair and the shoulder length makes it super easy to style and maintain which highlights the ombre really nicely.

#16: Ombre Blunt Bob with Purple to Peach

I can’t wait to see this! The way the colors blend from a dark purple at the roots to a light peach at the tips is super cool. Plus, the blunt cut makes the hair look less messy. I won’t lie, this is a very committed style. You’ll need to come in for toning appointments, be careful when washing your hair, and color depositing shampoo is going to be very important for you. But if you love colors, this look is definitely going to be memorable!

#17: Light Blonde Textured Blunt Bob

This bob really looks effortless in the best way possible, which is surprisingly difficult to achieve. The light blonde is super fresh and bright, and the easy texture and above the shoulder length keep it extra low maintenance. This is such a great everyday cut that you can wash and go on a weekday, then you can even style it for the weekend without it feeling like totally different hairstyles.

#18: Wavy Blunt Bob with Highlights

These waves are nicely done and look goood. They are at that sweet spot where it looks like you might have just slept on them in the best way. With the waves touching the jawline and the shows the sun kissing the hair and the highlights around it give that warm light look. If you hair naturally hold a wave, you are golden, if you hair does not, a curling wand and shake it out and you are done in less than ten minutes.

Sleek Straight Blunt Bob with Subtle Edges

#19: Straight Blunt Bob with Subtle Edges

There is a reason this style is always in fashion. It hits just above the shoulders and is sleek and straight, and it simply looks great. Personally, I dislike finishes on hair that are straight across and perfectly aligned but with this style, there is enough variation at the bottom to make it hold your attention. If your hair is thin and you want a finished look that doesn’t require much time, this is your best option. It requires no rework between business meetings and dinner.

Textured Blunt Bob with Rich Chocolate Highlights

#20: Textured Blunt Bob with Chocolate Highlights

The chocolate tones look beautiful and add some dimension to this mid length and rather simple bob. The color work adds some layers that the scissors didn’t provide. It’s a warm and welcoming look that is suitable for a number of skin tones. Just keep in mind if you opt for a fashion color like this that the vibrancy fades really quickly so be prepared to use a color safe line of products.

Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Bangs

#21 Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Bangs

Bangs have been added to this hairstyle, which will surely make the cut even more amazing. They are light and soft, changing the entire shape of someone’s face. The bob sits above the jaw, and it will look very good with the texture. It very light so it does not look too heavy. I love seeing fringes on people who have never had one. They look in the mirror and think they look so different, with a cut like this, it is a good change. The bangs will require a lot of upkeep and with regular trims, they will be kept out of the eyes so they will be easy to maintain with the cut.

Bright Silver Blunt Bob with Subtle Edges

#22 Bright Silver Blunt Bob

Silver works, and this cut nails the brief. The subtle color combined with a clean, blunt line is so modern and purposeful. We never want a color that feels like ‘I gave up on color’. The softness at the ends is just the right amount to create movement, and it sits so nicely on medium density hair. The only catch with silver is that it can yellow over time, so keeping it looking fresh will require a purple toning shampoo every other wash.

Chic Textured Blunt Bob with Subtle Curls

#23 Textured Blunt Bob with Natural Curls

I love the texture on this style. The curls look soft and uniform which is great. The blunt cut provides great structure to the curls without making them all flat. The fusion of gray to the other natural tones is modern and purposeful. I appreciate this direction for clients who are choosing to go gray. If you have natural curls or waves that you’ve been straightening for your bob, this style will change your mind. You won’t even need heat to achieve the look. You could air dry your hair with some curl defining creamand that will be enough.

Chic Lavender-Toned Blunt Bob with Soft Layers

#24 Lavender-Toned Blunt Bob with Soft Layers

Lavender is a personal color choice, but when it works, it works really well. This chin-length style has a blunt overall shape while the layers frame her face. The lavender is paired with what looks like a nice blonde base, and that’s the only way to achieve a clean, non-muddy look with that tone. It has a playful feel to it, and I think that’s good especially if you tend towards more classic styles and want just one element of surprise. The color will need to be refreshed every few weeks, but the cut will be low maintenance.

Textured Blunt Bob with Lush Copper Highlights

#25 Blunt Bob with Copper Highlights

I appreciate how copper captures light, especially in this case. The light weaving provides the bob both warmth and dimension, and the length that is just below the chin is super flattering, especially for those who may be apprehensive about a shorter style. The back features some subtle texturing that keeps the blunt line in place, and that is the level of detail that upgrades a good cut to a great one.

Effortless Textured Blunt Bob with Warm Undertones

#26 Effortless Textured Blunt Bob with Warm Tones

This hair color is so beautiful. All of the warmth in it make everything look more soft and cozy. The cut is so cute because it falls just above the shoulders and the texture is so easy, leaving it looking like you just got out of bed. Many people try to achieve this style but don’t know how. If you have fine hair, put volumizing mousse at the roots while your hair is still damp. This will keep your hair from going flat by the middle of the day.

Chic Silver Blunt Bob with Soft Bangs

#27 Silver Blunt Bob with Soft Bangs

I love how the bangs and silver color go together; it’s modern and timeless, which is difficult to achieve. The cut is just below the jaw, and the bangs are softer, not blunt, and the overall effect is polished without looking stiff. The grey blend is seamless, which shows that the color is done very well. This cut is easiest to showcase with straight hair. What keeps the shape and fringe most is regular trims. Aside from that, you won’t have to this cut.

Elegant A-Line Blunt Bob with Subtle Highlights

#28 A-Line Blunt Bob with Highlights

An A-line bob is more interesting than your typical blunt bob. It has more movement because of the longer pieces in the front. The highlights are gorgeous and perfectly placed to accentuate the angles of the cut; the lighter pieces toward the front of the face are a clever touch. The cut is above the shoulders, which is super flattering on the neck and gives a chic, effortless vibe. While there is a lot of precision in the styling, the overall look gives an appearance of low effort. If you’re after a more polished look with less upkeep, an A-line bob is definitely the best option.

Chic Textured Blunt Bob with Soft Bangs

#29 Textured Blunt Bob with Playful Bangs

Of all the bobs on this list, this one is the most unique because of the bangs. The bangs are wispy and soft and not very thick, which keeps the overall style feeling light even though the cut has a strong structure. The hair’s fine texture is on its side because it allows the hair to move freely and not look too bulky. The hair is mid-length which is easy to style and the type of cut that looks good whether you spent 5 minutes or 20 minutes on it. The only real commitment is going to be getting those bangs cut because they grow into your eyes faster than you would think.

Chic Textured Blunt Bob with Lush Layers

#30 Textured Blunt Bob with Layered Dimension

This hairstyle is made special with the warm multi-tonal color and the blunt cut. The internal layers make movement and weight reduction to the cut, and helps it to not look overly layered. The cut embodies the spirit of a blunt bob, with a style that breathes and moves naturally. The warm multi-tonal color is gorgeous, and it becomes even better with the waves that are in the hair. The color also changes with the different lighting, and it works perfectly with the hair’s waves. This hairstyle sits low on the maintenance level, and is a huge bonus for people with natural waves. This style out of all the others is one of the easiest to keep up with. It practically styles itself!

Polished Blunt Bob with Subtle Textured Ends

#31 Polished Blunt Bob with Textured Ends

I want to finish with this because it’s a great reminder that sometimes it’s the little things that count the most. This is a chin-length blunt bob that has been straightened and polished, but those textured ends stop it from feeling too stiff. It really makes a difference from appearing as if you’ve just walked out of the salon and looking like you comfortably sit in the haircut, which is what I always go for. It shape and sheen is absolutely beautiful, It’s stunning. Keeping up with regular trims, plus a good lightweight hair oil on the ends will keep it looking this good all the time.
