26 Best Hair Colors for Women Over 70 in 2026

I have a story about a client who I worked with a week ago and who is 73 years old. As I was about to start working on her hair, she told me, “I think I’m too old for fun hair colors.” I had to stop myself because WHAT?? This is probably the most wrong thing anyone has ever said to me in my chair, and I have had people confess to cutting their bangs with kitchen scissors! From the moment I started coloring hair for women in their 70’s, I started to think about how interesting the hair gets. Again, the hair texture, the skin tone, the overall look. The things that would have washed you out at 40, would look great on you now! Just last spring I had a client who went lavender and her husband told her that she looked better than she did on their wedding day. I am not exaggerating.

Right now the options are endless! You can either play with the idea of lavender, soft copper, or pastel pink, or you can embrace your naturally silver hair. There are tons of colors to choose from and as long as the tone of the color compliments your skin and hair, all colors are great. I have gathered some of my favorite hair colors for women over seventy and just to warn you, I have a lot of opinions about this!

The natural grey will look stunning and you will no longer need a blow dryer. This is a perfect style for heart and oval shaped faces.

I think I keep coming back to this one because the lower edge asymmetry is subtle yet gives it a little edge without the “I’m trying to be edgy” feel.
