34 Bangs Hairstyles That Are Making a Huge Comeback in 2026

Bangs are a big hair decision that many people mull over for a long time before deciding to finally go for it. I once had a client who I had to tell wait three years before I could cut her bangs. Every year, about every six months, she would come in and bring a picture of the same hairstyle: bangs, and the hairstyle belonged to Jane Birkin. When I finally cut her bangs, she started crying—not because she hated it, but because she waited for so long to get her bangs. And that’s the deal with bangs. Once you get them, it’s such a massive change that you can see your entire face differently, and, more importantly, it feels even more right when the bangs are right.

For 2026, I have high hopes because bangs are finally going to be more diverse. There’s still going to be curtain bangs, but micro bangs are coming back. I have even more clients asking for a more messy look and I’m happy to see the change. It’s a great time to do something new and I’m happy with the direction bangs are heading. Just remember that while inspiration photos may show you a great set of bangs, they do not represent the reality of your day-to-day styling routine. Bangs need to match the overall level of commitment you have to your hair to avoid a more washed up texture.

#1: Edgy Textured Cut with Heavy Bangs

This style has lots of energy and versatility. The bangs are thick, and I appreciate that. I like edgier styles with more bold bangs. The layering in the middle and ends adds a nice fluffy movement without giving off a damaged hair look. With lots of styling the movement will be great. This cut will be great if your styling is more rough. A little styling cream should be enough. This style will not work if you want a polished cut though, because that is not the look it will achieve.

#2: Long Layers with a Gentle Fringe

Some hair cuts look as if nothing has changed, but they are actually very effective. Here, we see one of those cuts. Your hair has been given long and internal layers, meaning the length has not been compromised. The bangs are blended and soft so that when they grow out, you won’t have to deal with the hassle of frequent bang trims. We love to see it. The shine in the hair indicates that there was good health in the hair, and that, with a style like this, is what matters more than the actual cut. If your hair is dry and porous, this style won’t read the same. And if you have hair that is naturally compliant, it becomes a low-drama style option.

#3: Sharp Blunt Bob with Full Bangs

When done properly, I love a blunt bob with a straight bang like this one. The length hitting right on the jaw is deliberate and gives a whole graphic quality that you lose if it’s even half an inch too long. The highlights are doing quiet work here keeping it from looking flat, which is always the risk with a bob. This cut is customized for fine to medium hair because the blunt line gives the effect of thickness. If you have very dense hair, however, you’ll want your stylist to remove some internal weight, or it’s going to puff out instead of sitting clean like this. A round brush blowout is basically all you need to keep it looking nice.

#4: Polished Straight Bob with Bangs

This bob has blunt bangs and hits just at the shoulders. There isn’t much layering, which means execution will be most important here. Because the bob is straight, clean lines will be needed. Naturally straight hair will be best for this style. While the style may look effortless, hair with waves of any kind will require a lot of maintenance. You will need to use a flat iron often, if not daily. This look suits a polished overall aesthetic. It isn’t playful. It is confident and very successful at achieving this.

#5: Textured Bangs Paired with Long Flowing Layers

These bangs have a natural appearance because they have a somewhat piecey, separated quality. This look can be achieved with some styling. I enjoy the richness here combined with long dark waves. The darkness of the color makes the layers look shadowy instead of step-y, which is great. To keep the bangs from falling flat by midday, all you need is a texturizing spray. I would recommend this style to people with medium to thick hair who want bangs without it looking like a big statement.

#6: Long Sleek Hair with a Blunt Fringe

I love a long, straight hairstyle, especially when it’s paired with a blunt fringe. There is something so bold about them. There is so much commitment, especially since the upkeep is significant. To achieve a look where the bangs sit above the eyelashes, she is going to need trims every two to three weeks. Also, she will need to do a ton of maintenance to the ends of the hair so they don’t look scraggly. When done right and kept up, this is so striking. This look is a classic for a reason, especially if you have fine, straight hair, or don’t mind a bit of heat styling.

#7: Soft Wavy Bob with Face-Framing Bangs

I find this style to fit perfectly into the gap between super casual and more structured, which is where a lot of my clients tend to lean. The bob has just the right stippling to stay trendy, and the bangs are wispy cut just enough so that it won’t be awkward when they grow out. I always take that into account when cutting bangs. The style kind of elongates the face making it more forgiving on rounder face shapes. The extra waves also give more volume so the hair doesn’t look flat. This is a really versatile style. It can be dressed up or down really easily. A texturizing spray and some air-drying will give a great casual look, but you can smooth it out with an iron for something a little bit more polished. It really does go both ways without fighting you.

Textured Burgundy Pixie with Bangs

#8: Burgundy Pixie with Swept Bangs

I have a special affection for this pixie as its bold colors show me that the owner likes it and does not need to have their choices validated externally. The burgundy color is deep enough to come off as classy and not costume-y. The bangs and crown area are tousled which helps to soften the harshness of the cut. The best part is that it is really easy to style. All you need to do is work some mousse into damp hair, mess it up with your fingers, and walk out the door. The only downside is growing it out. You have to be committed to maintaining the short length, because around the three month mark, you may hit a phase that tests your patience.

#9: Warm Brunette Waves with Soft Bangs

Here, color is doing a lot of the work. The warm brown and light highlights give the entire style a lived-in glow. It makes the waves look effortless, even if they aren’t. The bangs are soft and slightly parted so the style doesn’t overwhelm the face. The length also gives room to play around with a few different styles. I’ll be honest though, everyday maintenance of those waves is going to take more time than most people think. The result is stunning if you are willing to use a hydrating mousse and curling iron or diffuser. If you aren’t, by day 2, it will look like a completely different haircut.

#10: Feathered Layers with Flipped Ends and Bangs

I like the movement and texture this cut has! It reminds me of the cuts I used to get as a child but much more refined. The melt bangs and face framing layers mean there are no harsh lines and the grow out will be something you look forward to! The turned out ends provide lift and help avoid that heavy look that can happen with thick hair at this length. It’s a lovely look for round and heart shaped faces as the volume is at the perfect spot. Not every layered haircut will grow out as well as this one will but the bangs will require regular trims to keep things flowing the way they need to.

#11: Warm Chocolate Layers with Airy Fringe

What stands out in this style is the color and cut. The warm chocolate hue adds depth to the hair. The layers are cut to move and not look shaggy. The fringe is light and near see-through. This adds an airy touch that is nice for finer strands. I would recommend this style to anyone looking to get bangs, as this fringe is more of a suggestion. It looks great and is low commitment, but it requires trims every couple of weeks to keep it from poking you in the eyes.

#12: Glossy Blunt Bangs on Long Straight Layers

Straight hair that shines looks wonderful, especially if the hair is healthy. When hair shines in the light it looks beautiful and other textures cannot do it as well. This blunt cut style looks amazing with the shine! The bangs spot on the brow line make the style really fun. To be honest, straight hair and blunt bangs can be very bad. If you have oily roots, expect that bang to look greasy by noon. You’ll probably need to keep some serum on the ends of your hair to help it stay nice, and some dry shampoo at the roots of your bangs. When everything is right, this style is one of the coolest looks around!

#13: Glossy Bob with a Strong Straight Bang

The bob shows it means business, as do the bangs, which are cut blunt, straight across with no graduation, and the bob is equally glossy. This shine can be due to some great blowout (perhaps straightening) skills, but more likely, it is due to the case of naturally glassy strands. This glossy look works particularly well for oval faces and can help provide some fullness to a heart-shaped face. My only caution for this style is that with cuts this clean, they expose any flaws or issues you may have with your hair – uneven splits will show. For this look, good appointments are necessary. If your appointments are aligned like some, this look will be chic!

Textured Curly Bangs with Soft Layers

#14: Natural Curly Bangs with Layered Texture

I get really excited about people with natural curls who want to get some bangs because it could look great! Bangs have a different vibe and can look great when done right. Think about it this way, when bangs are cut on wet hair, they’ll be way shorter than expected because they will shrink when dry. This kind of style requires a good stylist because the layers have to reduce bulk without ruining the curl pattern, which is the sign of a good stylist. You’ll also need good curl cream to keep it all defined. You’ll probably need to refresh the bangs in the morning with some water and some product. If you put in the time and the work you’ll definitely get the look!

#15: Long Ombré Hair with Wispy Bangs

The ombre effect looks awesome because it goes from dark to light, and ends with a blonde color. It looks even more casual with the bangs. I want to be as honest as possible about color maintenance, and as you can guess, about how light that blonde is at the ends. It won’t stay that light unless you work to keep it that way. This means regular appointments to get it toned, and you may need to use purple shampoo to keep it that light as well. The good thing is with this haircut, the bangs will blend in and the long layers will provide you with a style that lasts, and won’t need any more shaping. If you are up for putting in the time and money, this will look amazing on fine to medium hair.

#16: Blunt Bangs on a Textured Mid-Length Cut

A blunt bang with textured layers can either look great or horrible. In this case it is good. The bold and strong bang and the softer and more relaxed layers are great from the jaw down. For rounder faces, this can also be quite elongating because the eyes are drawn vertically along the bangs and down through the layered hair. The length is very good as you can tie it up but still have some structure to it with less maintenance. This type of hair is best for people who want to spend 5 minutes on their hair the most but do not want to spend 20 minutes.

#17: Soft Textured Bangs on Long Layered Hair

I like to do this type of haircut because it works for most people and it isn’t done to death. The main face framing layers are longer in the back to maintain some length and the bangs are soft and slightly separated which look good styled and unstyled. A balayage with this would be great because it’s low maintenance and it’s also one of the few haircuts that looks good grown out. Bangs will need to be trimmed every few weeks, but the rest of the haircut will be able to go longer between appointments without losing shape.

Effortless Textured Bangs with Long Layers

#18: Light Wispy Bangs with Effortless Long Layers

Fine hair gets a lot of suggestions, especially when it comes to getting more volume, and this particular cut takes the opposite approach and lets fine hair be fine. The bangs are light and wispy, and the layers are long and soft. It’s not going to give you a big, bouncy blowout, and it’s not trying to. What it does offer is a clean and simple shape that looks intentional and moves nicely. The only caution I would give is that fine hair shows damage quickly, so regular trims are more important than most products, and if your ends are healthy, this haircut is almost styled for you.

#19: Warm Brunette Layers with Textured Curtain Bangs

The warm brown tone helps soften the look and gives the layers a more cohesive look rather than a choppy one. The curtain bangs are perfect. They are just the right amount of parted and textured to cover without obstructing the view which is what most of my clients want when they say they want bangs. They want the look but not the feeling of closed vision. For someone who’s nervous about commitment, this is an ideal bang. The curtain shape grows out nicely and blends into your layers without an awkward in-between stage. It is very low maintenance and the bangs just need a trim every few weeks to keep them tidy.

Softly Textured Bangs with Playful Updo

#20: Piece-y Bangs with a Casual Updo

What I appreciate about updos that also incorporate bangs is that they show what bangs look like in a pulled-back style. This is something most people don’t think about when it comes to cutting bangs. The pulled back look can be great as well. These bangs are nice because they are textured and separated a bit. The updo being loose and unfussy is nice too. A sleek bun would send mixed messages with piece-y bangs, but this look works well. Fine to medium hair works best because the bangs won’t be too heavy. The face framing layers are nice and also help to balance everything out so it doesn’t look like an afterthought. If you wear your hair up a lot, you should take note.

#21: Curly Bangs with Rich Copper Tones

One color that especially looks great on curls is copper. Copper adds reflection in a way that gives your hair a dimension, especially when it’s curly. The bangs sit at the forehead, are full and bouncy, and the playful vibe they give off is nice without being childish. In this style, the color and texture of the hair are equally important and the look wouldn’t be as complete without both. To be honest, a look like this does mean some maintenance because copper hair color really does come with some commitment. It will require color-safe products and regular gloss treatments to keep it from getting brassy. But if you’re willing to put in that effort, this is a gorgeous way to style curls and bangs.

#22: Layered Waves with Soft Curtain Bangs

Some haircuts really seem to have that intangible quality of a good haircut where everything just seems to fall into place. The curtain bangs open in the middle and then lengthen toward the cheekbone, which is good for nearly everyone, and the wavy layers imply good hair health and less work. The Natural Bounce is of a healthy head of hair and not heavy styling. The feeling of this haircut is ease or effortlessness and that is true with the design because the skill comes from the layering and the way the bang sits in the longest pieces that frame the face. Not everyone is able to see a stylist every six weeks and for that reason, I appreciate a haircut that ages well.

#23: Fiery Layered Waves with Thick Bangs

How about letting the cut complement the bold color? This one does. The bangs are thick and the layers are big creating a presence that more subdued cuts don’t have. The color is a vivid combination of orange and red which also means a lot of maintenance. I won’t sugar coat it, that’s color refreshes, a color depositing conditioner, and frequent washes. For someone who likes their hair to make a statement, this definitely delivers. It works best on medium to thick hair as the layers need enough density to hold their shape without going all stringy.

#24: Long Textured Waves with Curtain Bangs

If you have long, thick, wavy hair, curtain bangs will go perfectly with your hair. These bangs ease in with all of the hair’s texture. These bangs are large enough to stand out, but are parted enough to not get in your eyes. Your loose waves should not look extremely neat or uniform. An example would be a braid in damp hair the night before, or an imprecise big barrel curl. If your hair is naturally fine, you will want sea salt spray for texture to keep the waves in place. The bangs will require frequent trims, but aside from that, the cut is low maintenance.

#25: Sleek Burgundy Length with Statement Bangs

There are no compliments found here. With the long, sleek, straight and thick with no softening, bangs are cut tough and the burgundy is deep and rich. To get this look, maintaining the color and cut and showing up is necessary. Medium to thick hair is the density needed to support the bangs, so they look great here. If you have finer hair, you will need to adjust the thickness of the bangs because it would otherwise take away too much from the sides. You’ll want to use a good heat protectant because you’ll be using an iron to keep everything smooth and the color will fade faster with heat damage.

Stylish Textured Bob with Soft Bangs

#26: Collarbone-Length Textured Bob with Soft Bangs

You might be underestimating this style because it looks so simple, but that’s exactly why it’s brilliant. The collarbone length is also universally flattering and provides just enough hair to do easy updos or braids on those days when you want your hair out of the way. The bangs are soft and wear to one side, so they add a little more to the style without having to change your whole look and it’s a good style for fine and medium hair that wants to add some shape without losing the volume of heavy layers. The cut will look best the fresher the trim but even as it grows out you can maintain the style which is not something every bob can claim.

Rich Auburn Waves with Face-Framing Bangs
Instagram: henleyhair_

#27: Auburn Waves with Soft Face-Framing Bangs

The auburn color adds warmth and richness to the waves, creating great depth. It is one of those happy accidents where a color and a cut complement each other. The soft face-framing bangs blend into the longer layers, so there is not a hard line across the forehead. This results in a transition that is flattering and works well for round and oval shaped faces. I do want to mention that the upkeep for auburn of this richness is going to be tricky. Your roots will grow in stark contrast to the overall color, and the red tones in your hair will fade out faster than almost any other shade. This will likely mean a higher level of maintenance to keep everything looking good. If you’re okay with all that, the final look will certainly be stunning! The waves can be achieved with a diffuser on naturally wavy hair, or with a curling iron if your hair is straight.

#28: Medium-Length Waves with Soft Curtain Bangs

Self-made haircuts are a common aspiration and people hope to achieve that look with this style. This cut contains soft bangs to add some volume and the medium length waves are soft enough to allow movement while avoiding frizz and puffiness. This cut is suitable for a variety of face shapes as the bangs and layers help soften and flatter the face. I believe this cut works best for hair that has a natural wave and some texture rather than straight hair as creating those waves can be quite a challenge. This cut is perfect for a wash and go style if you have wavy and textured hair.

#29: Beachy Waves with Light Textured Bangs

There are little bangs that lightly frame your face. The beachy waves and balayage look as if you just went on a hot vacation. This look relies on a studied mess. The cut has to be super precise so that it doesn’t look like a mess. The balayage warm up and adds dimension to the hair and makes medium hair look denser, which is always a plus. If your hair is fine, applying volumizing mousse to your damp hair and letting it air dry will help achieve that look and give your hair some good volume. This look is one of the best in the collection.

Vibrant Layered Waves with Bold Face-Framing Bangs

#30: Pastel-Toned Layers with Bold Face-Framing Bangs

The color job really speaks for itself. The warm tones blended throughout the hair create a soft look. The bold framing bangs pull the look together. Fashion colours like these work best when the haircut is structured enough to support them, which this one certainly does with its lovely layers and hefty bangs. The maintenance chat is particularly important as the colour and bangs will need regular upkeep and attention and the pastels will fade. The tones will shift and bangs will grow into your eyes faster than you’d think. A leave in conditioner is going to be essential to keep the lengths healthy as it will be drying from all the colouring.

#31: Wavy Bob with a Blunt Straight Bang

The contrasting styles, in this case, a bob cut with waves and straight blunt bangs is something most folks wouldn’t be able to picture, but when tried, it doesn’t create a boring look because the differing styles create a form of visual tension to hold the look together. In this case, the style of bangs creates the most visual contrast as they are clean and smooth in style while the waves are more free and slightly messy. The look also works best with medium to fine hair, and will work with and flatter oval and heart shaped faces. I’ve also seen the look work with square jaws as the soft waves free the look. The bangs will need regular trims to keep them blunt and straight while the rest of your hair is wavy, so you will have to grab the straightener a lot to maintain the look.

Vibrant Textured Waves with Bold Fringe
Instagram: exotismos

#32: Bright Pink Waves with a Full Fringe

This style uses a vivid pink color choice, which shows confidence, and the way this color is paired with the length and cut of this style makes this color look great. The waves also add to the bulk and movement to make it less wig-like. With a color choice this big, it is important to make sure the cut can hold the color which the medium length waves with thick fringe definitely do. I do tell clients the truth about fashion colors. They do require constant maintenance, bleach is needed if your starting with dark hair and they also fade quickly. If that all doesn’t scare you off that’s great, because it really is something when this is freshly done. The waves create an illusion of fullness that makes the whole thing look more substantial.

Sleek Modern Bob with Bold Straight Bangs

#33: Precision Bob with Clean Straight Bangs

This haircut is as good as it gets! Everything is sharp, blunt, level, un-textured, and un-layered — the lines, bob, bangs, and edges. I find these sorts of precision cuts really beautiful, but I know this style is not for everyone. If you have thick hair, this style is going to balloon out on the sides without some serious thinning and maintenance. If you have fine to medium thickness hair, it will flex and the blunt lines will create an illusion of fullness. Since the cut is so graphic and angular, it can amplify already defined features, so consider the face that will be paired with this. For contrast, I think it’s really nice on softer face shapes.

Textured Shag with Playful Bangs
Instagram: caithelle_hair

#34: Shaggy Layers with Fun Bangs

A shag is one of my all-time favorite haircuts because there are so many options. This version includes bangs and shoulder length layers, so it feels very loose and effortless, and really current. The bangs are choppy and sit open on the forehead, which lightens it up. There are some layers in the crown to add some volume and lift, and you won’t need a blow dryer for that. This is fantastic for wavy or curly hair since the hair’s natural pattern does a lot of the work for you. This is a very forgiving cut because it grows out nicely. The different layers grow out at different rates and keep everything looking soft. If you want something with a bit more personality than a standard long layered cut, this is where I would start.
