27 Ultimate Baby Bangs Haircuts, Ranked

Baby bangs seem to elicit timid and indecisive comments, or very bold and certain ones; few seem to land in between. This interests me, as there is lots of variety to be had with this cut. Styled appropriately, a short fringe can either come off as thoughtful and clinical, or relaxed and almost unintentional. Hair that is cut to the eyebrows alters the geometry of a person’s face, shifting things in a way that most styles do not.

I had a client several years ago who showed me a picture of Jean Seberg. That remains one of the best reference images I’ve seen for this cut. She was extremely quiet and nervous, and fidgeting with her forehead area. I began with a measurement just above the micro-bang length, and allowed her to sit with them for a bit before going substantially shorter. When we got to that target length, she had a huge grin and remained quiet. That is often a signal for me to move on. When it comes to baby bangs, I believe very few cuts are as customizable as this one. There is a narrow margin between “not quite” and “exactly right,” which I think is about 1/4 of an inch. If you’ve been thinking about getting baby bangs, I’ll share some of my favorite styles.

Vibrant Copper Pixie with Playful Baby Bangs

#1: A Warm Copper Pixie That Feels Like It’s Having Fun

The coppery color they’re using here makes the whole cut feel more playful, and I mean that in the best way possible. The bangs are the perfect distance from the eyebrows to keep things interesting but not visually distracting. The pixie length at the nape of the neck creates a softer touch, which keeps the cut from being too edgy. The most effort, in my opinion, is the balayage. The warm, bronzy color makes the cut look fuller and healthier. I feel like that shade would reflect the light more than a cooler tone. This is the sort of cut where you feel like you’ve embodied a different persona when you walk out, and that is definitely a goal sometimes.

Chic Curly Bob with Soft Bangs

#2 Curls and a Soft Fringe That Actually Work Together

I frequently get asked if it would be a good idea to get bangs on curly hair, and the honest truth is that it hinges on the person’s curl pattern and how much tolerance they have for a little unpredictability. This one works because the bangs aren’t competing with the texture. They’re soft and not blunt, and flow in the same direction as the rest of the hair. The auburn shade is warm without being too heavy and shows the curl definition really nicely. If you have curls like this and are thinking of getting bangs, the most important thing is to find someone who does dry cuts so that you can see exactly where each piece is going to fall. The right curl defining cream will help in keeping everything cohesive without adding too much weight.

Textured Short Pixie with Baby Bangs

#3 A Cropped Pixie That Stays Soft

Although the hair above the ears is short, it doesn’t seem serious. The top has some thickness with a cut irregularity, which creates the appearance that it is not trying too hard. The baby bangs do help provide softness against the forehead, which contributes to the balance. I say this often about a cut, but it does look good grown out, which can’t be said about every short cut. With some texturising paste, it is easy to shape and maintain, which is my favourite type of styling advice to give.

Modern Textured Pixie Cut with Baby Bangs

#4 Layered and Lived-In, with Bangs That Don’t Try Too Hard

The crown area layering is what really stands out the most to me. There is a natural, unstyled, voluminous quality to it, as if the hair just decided to do something nice by itself. While the baby bangs are short, their presence is quiet and allows the rest of the cut to do all the talking. The warm color tone captures the light through the layers beautifully. In my opinion, this is an excellent example of a cut where all the different elements are working together intricately without any piece drawing focus which is much harder to do than it seems.

Textured Silver Pixie with Baby Bangs

#5 Silver and Short, with a Modern Ease

This cut shows why it’s great to see someone embrace silver hair instead of covering it up. The baby bangs brighten up the whole look which is even better when the color is this cool. I find the look very soothing and pleasant. It draws attention without being self-promoting and it’s the kind of thing you’d notice from anywhere in the room. The cut is clean and organized, but not overly so, and the texture on top is just enough to keep it looking fresh. For anyone considering going silver intentionally, be sure to get a purple shampoo in between salon visits to keep it from getting brassy.

Chic Textured Gray Pixie with Baby Bangs

#6 A Gray Pixie with Some Personality in the Texture

This haircut exudes confidence while still maintaining subtlety. The way the top has been cut provides some lift to the style as a whole. The baby bangs help to anchor the look. In the overall scheme of things, the deliberate texture on top and soft bangs is a great contrast. The gray also provides a sophisticated and purposeful depth. This is the type of haircut that looks good at the dinner table and while running errands. Honestly, that is the kind of test I think about the most when I am cutting someone’s hair.

Short Textured Crop with Baby Bangs

#7 Something Simple That Still Has a Point of View

This crop is elevated by the subtle wave in the hair that adds some quirk to the style. The mini bangs are just the right length to change the shape of the forehead, but they won’t take too much attention away. Keeping the length above the ears allows everything to feel quite neat. It’s the sort of style that I would expect people to get and then sit back and enjoy the muted compliments coming in each week. Not because the cut is drastic and attention seeking, but because it’s just nice. If you have a bit of a wave and have been straightening your hair, I would suggest you stop.

Textured Short Crop with Baby Bangs

#8 Soft Bangs That Blend Into Everything Else

What’s fascinating about the cut is that the bangs almost look as if they are part of the rest of the cut. It is so well done that you almost perceive the whole thing as one uninterrupted shape. The straight fine hair has been textured in such a way that it gives just the right amount of dimension. The blending may be a small thing, but it is what sets apart a haircut that looks considered and one that just looks short.

Classic Tapered Bob with Baby Bangs

#9 A Bob with Structure and a Little Bit of Mischief

The beauty of this bob is in the taper that softly shortens towards the nape, which makes the jawline more striking. The baby bangs add a surprising element of playfulness to an otherwise timeless shape. I appreciate the contrast. The sleek finish draws the eye’s almost in a cinematic way. While this style does require some smoothing serum to achieve that polished look, everyday styling is much easier than it seems.

Modern Textured Baby Bangs with Short Pixie Cut

#10 A Pixie That Knows What It’s Doing

I’m liking the calmness merged with confidence. The layers give just the right amount of movement to the top and the base bangs are sharp without being too stiff. The highlights give dimension without being too obvious, and are great for subtle lighting. Haircuts like this are ones where you can lose a lot of length but still have a lot of skill, and I can definitely appreciate that.

Modern Textured Baby Bangs with Short Silver Pixie

#11 Silver and Choppy, with Eyes That Do the Talking

The uneven bangs are a bit more than the perfect hue of the haircut, which I think is stunning, but what bangs do to an open the face even more. There is a close cut at the nape and then a lot of energy and movement in the top and in the fringe and that is what makes it the most interesting. It is a cut that really brings front someone’s features, especially the eyes. I think the silver makes for a better result because it takes away the distraction of a warm or dark color and lets the shape and the face be the main focus.

Chic Textured Gray Bob with Baby Bangs

#12 A Gray Bob with Some Softness Built In

What a lovely bob! It adds so much movement and volume to the hair. Baby bangs are like little punctuation marks, and they really finish the look. The soft gray is such a perfect match for the texture. For someone looking for a bob that’s not too sleek or corporate, and has a bit of breath to it, this is the ideal choice. A texturizing spray will help to keep that undone look between washes.

Choppy Textured Crop with Baby Bangs

#13 A Feathery Crop with Real Dimension

I would say the texture in this cut is soft and light like a feather, which makes the short length feel approachable and not too edgy. The baby bangs are also short and wispy and paired with those layers, I think help to create a little more space throughout the head. I think this is a great example of a cut where density is working in someone’s favor. There is enough hair to create movement and interest without it feeling heavy anywhere. I also think this is great because the effect is youthful without looking like she is trying to be young, which I think is a great distinction.

Textured Gray Pixie Cut with Baby Bangs

#14 Clean Lines and a Little Mystery

I adore this haircut. The gray color has a nice vintage feel and the pixie shape is also great. With some baby bangs being too short, this pair is the perfect length to grab attention. The layering is also very polite and creates the illusion of extra volume. It is always best to have volume that is seemingly effortless and this cut is always doing that. The primary aim of this cut is to show how much restraint was used all around the head. Overall, the cut is a success because the presence is well balanced.

Stylish Textured Pixie Cut with Baby Bangs

#15 A Pixie That Moves When You Do

I love how the soft layers on this pixie create a lovely feeling of movement. It’s much more dynamic than a straight cut; it looks like it would shift and reposition with every turn of the head. That liveliness is what really sets it apart from a more structured pixie. The baby bangs are super cute and are a perfect length to compliment the rest of the cut. The haircut is awesome, but the health and shine of your hair is what truly elevates it. Sometimes the best thing you can do about a style is prioritize the health of your hair.

Bold Blunt Bob with Fluffy Baby Bangs

#16 A Blunt Bob in Lavender That Knows Exactly What It Is

I don’t usually get that excited about fashion colors, but the soft lavender, blunt bob, and baby bangs combo is really nice. The cut is super simple and clean, and sits just above the chin, but the bangs add a nice fluffiness to the line. The color really elevates the whole look. It takes it to an unexpected place. It’s the type of look that shows someone has a great sense of humor about beauty, and I really appreciate that. If you pick this option, a color depositing conditioner is going to be your BFF between appointments.

Textured Short Crop with Playful Baby Bangs

#17 Tousled and Easy, with Bangs That Stay Out of the Way

The baby bang compliment the haircut’s bed head style, and their tucked behind the ears gives it a nice sense of completedness. The depth of the root melting is gorgeous. The transitioned effort and time the it takes to achieve this look, which I’m certain is an illusion. I do enjoy the effort that was put into looking like you don’t care. I think the sweet with it is that there is no styling needed, and the more you do the worse it will be. A little messy is more than okay.

Textured Short Crop with Fluffy Baby Bangs

#18 Fluffy Bangs on a Close Crop

These bangs are fluffy, while the crop is close. This adds a nice balance to keep the cut from feeling too minimal. The length and volume in the fringe is just enough to soften everything, while the natural texture of everything else is left un-smooth and uncontrolled. I find this really wearable. It’s the kind of cut that looks good on day one, and still looks good a few weeks after it starts to grow, which to me indicates that it was cut well.

Playful Textured Crop with Baby Bangs

#19 Copper That Actually Glows

The copper in this crop looks alive. It almost looks like it’s radiating warmth. The baby bangs also make it look warm, drawing the eye to the center of the face. The cut is short and fussy, which lets the color shine through as the main event. The cut should support the color rather than compete with it, and with such a vibrant tone, I think this is the right choice. A gloss treatment will keep that brightness.

Textured Copper Bob with Playful Baby Bangs

#20 A Copper Bob with Some Sweetness to It

This bob has baby bangs and a warm copper undertone that gives it a sweetness. The gentle layers and movement created feel natural as the hair does what it wants. What I like most is that it does not seem edgy and bold the way baby bangs often read. It is friendly and approachable, which is its own kind of beauty. The length is manageable and the colour is rich and works across many skin tones.

Textured Pixie Cut with Playful Baby Bangs

#21 Short and Tousled with a Youthful Energy

The pixie’s sit style is all about youthful vibes and freedom. The long layers out top have a softness and lightness to them. The look and feel of the style is rounded because of the bangs that baby and aren’t too short. This style is good for people who want bangs, but don’t want them to stand out. The bangs look styled, but without the focus on them.

Stylish Textured Pixie with Fluffy Baby Bangs

#22 Fluffy and Sleek at the Same Time

This may sound like a contradiction, but this cut gets the job done. The body of the pixie is sleek and close, whilst the bangs have a fluffy lift that creates really nice tension. The hair has a nice natural shine that makes the whole cut polished and product free, which is the dream. I think versatility is the main selling point here. You could wear this to a formal event and it would read as elegant, or you could live your day to day life in it and it would feel effortless. That range is not easy to achieve in a short cut.

Chic Textured Silver Crop with Baby Bangs

#23 A Silver Crop with Something Gentle About It

The way the layers in this haircut look like they’re moving in different directions is really nice. The organic nature provides movement! The silver tone is very pretty. The baby bangs are just the right length to catch the eye without throwing off the balance on a smaller forehead. There is a look that has warmth, most likely from the layers. It doesn’t look youthful, edgy, or trying too hard. There is a nice confidence in the cut that really gives it the uplighting styling.

Modern Sleek Bob with Bold Baby Bangs

#24 A Sleek Bob That Means Business

The refined style here is really nice. The bob is nice and clean, sitting just above the shoulders, and the baby bangs are intentional and bold. I find the graphic quality super interesting, almost as if the hair was designed instead of just cut. The straight texture and fine density play to this cut’s advantage, as they create a clean and contiguous line from the bangs to the ends. It is quite a statement cut, and does not shy away from the idea of requesting you to dress up. I believe some people find this really refreshing.

Classic Blunt Bob with Baby Bangs

#25 A Blunt Bob That Feels Both Sharp and Easy

The baby bangs and blunt cut bring a level of intentionality to the style but overall the effect is surprisingly effortless. For me, the subtle shine is what does it. The hair has a healthy, natural quality that balances the geometry of the cut and ensures the overall look isn’t too harsh. This is a style I’d encourage to someone who shows me a really editorial picture and tells me they want something like that but more suited for real life. It has those editorial features but easily fits into the day to day. A lightweight serum would be perfect to keep that look going.

Chic Textured Short Crop with Playful Baby Bangs

#26 Salt and Pepper with a Sense of Play

I love the salt-and-pepper touch. It adds a distinct visual texture in addition to the natural hair texture, and the baby bangs bring in a sense of playfulness so the whole style doesn’t feel too serious. The layers are soft and very movable, and the styling has a nice effortless relax to it. This cut speaks volumes about the person wearing it without needing to be loud, perfect for someone who doesn’t want to hide their grays but doesn’t want their hair to feel like an afterthought.

Choppy Textured Short Cut with Baby Bangs

#27 Choppy and Confident

I enjoy the interesting rhythm that the cut’s choppiness creates. The back is cut shorter, and the front is cut longer, while the baby bangs sit at the top as if they were always meant to be there. This type of fine, straight hair is very advantageous here because it helps showcase the sharpness in every layer and angle. There is nothing blended away or hidden; every option is on display, and that offers a degree of certainty that I find very appealing. This is a cut that seems to not be trying to look like anything other than exactly what it is, and that honesty in a haircut is something I find very refreshing.
