We were super excited to catch up with Bay Area stylist and beauty icon Rebecca Beardsley this month! Rebecca is a Master Stylist on the L’Oreal Professional Team and is known for her creativity with lifestyle, fashion and glamour shoots and impeccable styling work for both print and runway. Rebecca gave us her thoughts on everything from holiday hair ideas to upcoming trends for 2013…
As a stylist, what is the number one hair faux pas you see women making today and how would you advise them to “fix it”?

Rebecca: The number one faux pas I see women making today is taking an idea they see online, and trying to do it at home. The Ombre color trend is a perfect example of this. Seek a professional’s help!
Tis the season for holiday party hair! What are a few of your favorite special occasion hairstyle ideas of the moment?

Rebecca: Use a dry shampoo, such as L’Oreal Professionnel Fresh Dust, to give texture and volume at the base and mid-lengths as a quick fix for those holiday parties that happen right after work!
Try curling your hair with a wand using diagonal front sectioning, and waving the hair in one direction from side to side. This technique creates lovely, off-the-scalp retro waves, giving a very romantic look to the hair.
As we transition from fall to winter weather, what are some changes we need to look into making in regards to our hair routine?
Rebecca: This is the time of year to add lowlights or red, coppery shades to your hair without the worry of getting too brassy. It’s also the time to treat your hair to an in-salon deep conditioning treatment. This will replace the moisture lost during summer months as well as fight off winter hair problems.
2013 winter hair trends are upon us! What style/cuts/colors do you think will make their debut?
Rebecca: I think we are going to continue to see very touchable hair, soft and pretty, but perhaps with a bit more texture. Braids will come back just as strong as this year. Short cuts and splashes of color will be hot. Dip dyed ends and pastels will remain strong color trends.

Your favorite head of hair at the moment… Who’s wearing it and why is it your favorite?
Rebecca: Halle Berry continues to exude fabulous feminine energy with her cropped hair. I love the texture, movement and versatility!
