3 Award-Winning Hairstyles at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards

The red carpet was once again flooded with so much hairstyle inspiration for us at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. There were stunning textures, colors, and lengths worn up, partially up, and all down. With just the hair alone, we love seeing how they combine all these different elements…what more seeing how they choose to put together their entire look from head to toe! Here are our three favorite hairstyles from the 2016 Golden Globes with exclusive tips on how to recreate them for yourself.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer’s long bob stood out in a sea of tousled wavy long bobs. She wore it parted to the side and styled straight with the ends slightly flipped out.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to wet hair.
  2. Create a deep side part using a comb.
  3. Blow dry the hair using a large round brush, lifting each section as far away from its natural fall as possible to create volume.
  4. Apply a thermal protection spray to the hair.
  5. Smooth the hair starting two inches away from the roots and flip the hair out using flat iron as your reach the ends.
  6. Set the hair with a flexible hold spray and a shine spray.

Recommended Products:

Caviar Anti-Aging Amplifying Mousse not only gives your hair volume and texture, but it is actually good for your hair. It improves the hair’s elasticity and moisture balance.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This hairstyle works especially well for triangular face shapes with hair that is medium in texture and density.

Make sure to avoid using the flat iron on the root area. Doing so could kill the volume you worked so hard to create with the blow dryer!

Olivia Wilde

Olivia’s smooth waves on what at first seemed to be mid-length hair immediately caught my attention. Her hair was soft, full-bodied and frizz-free with mirror-like shine, and yet piecey, straggly, and organic on the ends without taking away from its overall romantic and elegant look. What made me fall completely in love with the look was when she turned and revealed a very low long and loose ponytail. Surprise!

How To Style:

  1. Apply thermal protection to clean dry hair.
  2. Wrap sections of hair around a medium barrel curling wand vertically, curling away from the face.
  3. Brush out curls with a dressing brush until the curls turn into a wave.
  4. Loosely gather the hair into a ponytail low enough to keep frace framing layers out.
  5. Create some separation and texture on the ends of the face framing layers using fingers and a styling product.
  6. Set the style with a finishing spray and shine spray.

Recommended Products:

Perfect Texture Finishing Spray gives hair flexible hold, texture, and fullness. Rapid Repair Spray not only gives the hair shine, but also gives it moisture and revitalizes it.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

All face shapes with hair that is long with face framing layers, medium texture and medium density will suit this hairstyle well.

Rooney Mara

Rooney had the best hair at the Golden Globes! The style wasn’t just unique, it was beautiful. It was art worn on her head. It appeared simple, but it definitely was well thought out and perfectly executed. Her shiny straight hair was pulled away from the face sleek into two tight ponytails that were textured and braided down together. Different textures and techniques were put together so well in this hairstyle.

How To Style:

  1. Start with smooth, straight hair.
  2. Pull hair into two sleek ponytails. Create one at the crown area and the other at the nape area.
  3. After applying a thermal protection spray, create texture by curling the hair in random directions.
  4. Mist a texture spray over the curls.
  5. Braid the hair from the ponytail in the crown area.
  6. Once you’ve reached the ponytail on bottom, begin including it into the braid, creating one braid out of the two ponytails.
  7. Once you run out of hair to braid, secure it with an elastic band.
  8. Loosen the braid with your fingers to give it an organic look.
  9. Apply a shine serum to the sleek part of the hairstyle.

Recommended Products:

Perfect Iron Spray protects hair from irons up to 450 F. It locks in moisture and locks out humidity.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

Oval face shapes with hair that is long, medium in texture and medium in density will suit this hairstyle well.

Hope you’re as inspired to try new hairstyles as I am after watching the Golden Globes!
