How would you describe this look?

This look is regal, fun, and earthy. What I love about faux locs is that it doesn’t have to be put together. To me, it looks better once the style has been worn for some time. The older it gets, the better it looks. It’s freeing and connecting in a way that leads to conversation, no matter the race.

Any advice for someone considering it?

It’s universal. Depending on the hair texture and length, there are different sizes and length for this particular style. As a hairstylist, I fill the person’s hair out first before installing. If your hair is finer, I wouldn’t advise you to keep the style in for a lengthy period of time. But if your hair is courser, 2 months should be fine.

To moisturize and condition the hair so that it’s not drying out, a spray water bottle with leave in conditioner, jojoba oil, and coconut oil should be fine to spray onto the locs. Oiling the scalp with Jamaican black castor oil, Pink Oil Moisturizer, or any scalp oil moisturizer should also be fine.

How would you describe this look?

This look is the perfect faux locs extensions with an island twist. Mermaid goddess locs give you the ultimate protective style which permits hair growth, strengthens hair follicles, as well as protects the hair from heat damage and breakage.

I love that it is different from the traditional faux locs in a way that draws the attention with its wavy and curly tips. The addition of hair yarn tops off this unique look.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Make sure the stylist is using human hair, for the synthetic hair tends to irritate the scalp. Also, groom the locs with mousse, Jamaican castor oil, and also touch up the edges with Eco Styler or some form of edge tamer.

Crochet Faux Locs

An easy alternative way to install faux locs on your hair – crocheting is a trendy protective style to get yourself some gorgeous pieces that you can style and color any way you want!

How would you describe this look?

This style is known as Faux Locs, a protective hairstyle that gives you the illusion of real locs temporarily by completely covering your real hair.

Usually, clients who are transitioning or growing out their hair naturally look for this type of style, and this can be worn for at least 6-8 weeks.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Know that this is a three-step process. First, hair needs to braid down, then wrapped, and then sealed at the ends, so be mindful that it takes a longer sitting time for this hairstyle.

The outcome is beneficial because it’s easy to manage, and it produces a lot of hair growth. It’s perfect for fitness lifestyles because it’s durable. It’s also flexible in styling options. You can put it into a bun, ponytail, or braided styles. Anyone can wear this style as long as your hair is in good condition.

Products that you can use are oils to keep the moisture in your hair. Less is more when considering product buildup.
