Beverlyn says thicker textures like type 4a, 4b, and 4c hair work best with boho knotless braids. That’s not to say thinner textures can’t join in the fun! She does give us the heads up, though, that longer and fuller hair takes more time to braid.
“Human hair is key for that coveted boho vibe,” she states. But what if we’re on a tight budget? “A human hair mix or mastermix will do the trick. Still gives decent quality and lasts quite a while.”
So it seems that no matter our hair type, we can all embrace the boho braid look. Just keep in mind it’s an investment in time, upkeep, and hair type.
Face Shape and Bohemian Braids
Good news! Face shape doesn’t slow this style down. “Bohemian knotless braids look fab on anyone,” Beverlyn confirms. Style to fit your face shape and preference. Try a ponytail, or a middle or side part. Even a half-up, half-down look could suit you.
She gives us a golden nugget of advice, too. “If your braids feel too heavy, try smaller ones. Larger braids carry more weight.” So, we can adjust the size of the braid and the part for comfort.
Styling Tips for Boho Braids
Keeping your braids fresh is all in the routine. Beverlyn’s secret? A mix of water and conditioner sprayed on at night. Make sure to detangle with a small paddle brush, going from the ends up. Then, braid into larger sections for sleep.
“Wrap a silk scarf for the first layer of protection, then secure it with a bonnet. Your braids will stay fresh and last longer,” she assures us. So, despite the cost and work, boho knotless braids seem worth the effort and investment with this simple care routine.
