The Hairstyler - Virtual Hairstyle Review

TheHairstyler.com's virtual hairstyle program is definitely part of the upper echelon among similar online hairstyle software. It ranks as one of the best, if not the best virtual hairstyle software available. Not too many sites can compare to what this site offers in terms of funtionality, features, and number of hairstyles for both women and men. There are a lot of good features of this virtual hairstyle program and only a few drawbacks. Lets start by viewing some of the many advantages the hairstyle software has over a lot of others.
What TheHairstyler offers
The site offers many useful features for it's members including the virtual hairstyle software. The software offers hairstyles for both women and men which is a plus because a lot of other software do not include men. There are over 7,000 hairstyles to try on and 53 different colors. Men also have the option to try on beards, goatees, and moustaches which means no need to draw one on an photograph to see yourself with one. The virtual hairstyle program has many of features present in the high end ones including color changes, styling tips, and a big selection of celebrity hairstyles. The site seems to be very fast at adding new hairstyles to it's catalog and also has a little over 100 3D images as well. The virtual hairstyle software is also easy to use including uploading a personal photo. One of our favorite features is the email a friend which sends an email with the photo and hairstyle to 3 emails. A sample image can be seen below. Now lets step into the virtual hairstyle software.

For users, a demo version is available on the site and many other sites as well. The demo allows selecting 6 hairstyles from each of the style categories. Users should try out the demo before becoming a member. Membership as of August 16, 2007 is $14.95 for 3 months. Once a user becomes a member, a screen to select a model, face shape, eye color, and hair color appears. The models available are shown in the image below. After selecting a model, a user has the option of uploading a photo and following a 3 step process to position photos, resize as needed, fix brightness, change contrast, and make other quality corrections to photos as needed. Next is the virtual hairstyle program.

The program itself is very self contained and easy to use. Members can select their own photo or the model photo selected. There are tons of hairstyles to go in and play with. There is a good search function as well to find many different hairstyles. Start by selecting a hairstyle like the image below. The box at the bottom left explains the hairstyle and gives styling tips and the middle allows the changing of hair color and brightness. The top left controls allow easy adjusting of the image. In the photo below, a short hairstyle is selected and the color changed to red. In the next photo, the celebrity hairstyles section is browsed and a cut from Reese Witherspoon is selected. The loading is fast and the hairstyles look fine most of the time but require a little resizing at times.
TheHairstyler Drawbacks
TheHairstyler.com's virtual hairstyle program has tons of features and is one of the best but it does have a few drawbacks. One is the only option of 3 month membership. There is a $4.95 renewal price per month and that should be an option for users wanting to try one month. Another drawback is the models which look more cartoon like. Other virtual hairstyle software use real models which makes the effect more appealing. There were also times where the image loading was stuck and the description did not load but those problems fixed themselves. One of the bigger drawbacks is in the size of the photos. The size is smaller and it is hard to get details of the hairstyles which cause it to lose some realistic touch. The hairstyles can not be flipped either. Overall the TheHairstyler.com's virtual hairstyle should definitely be tried out as no other site seems to have so many photos as well keeping in fresh new hairstyles.
