Stellure - Virtual Hairstyle Review

Stellure is a New Zealand based company that offers one of the more unique online, virtual hairstyle software available. What makes the Stellure 3D Hairstyle Studio unique is that it allows users to see a 3D view of both the head and hairstyles. This allows users to actually check out the side and rear view which is not provided in most other virtual hairstyle programs. The 3D Hairstyle Studio allows user to create a 3D model of themselves or use a Face Shape Wizard to choose a 3D model matching their facial shape. Now lets take a deeper look at Stellure 3D Hairstyle Studio.

Stellure requires users to join to see the 3D Hairstyle Studio and only a few select hairstyles can be seen with the free account. Users can still create a 3D image with the free account which is pretty fun to see but takes quite a while to complete. Users then have the option of becoming members with 4 different options. As of August 16, 2007, Stellure is offering a 1 month membership for $19.95, a 1 year for $29.95, a lifetime offer at $67.00, and a Family and Friends package for 1 year at $67.00. There is a limit on number of 3D faces in each package.

The starting screen of the software, without having made your own 3D image, and letting the Face Shape Wizard choose one, looks like the image below. For users who have made a 3D image, the image will populate into the hairstyles available. Users can click on the hairstyles to the right and the hairstyle will appear on the big screen on the left. Users can then change to one of 10 different hair colors or rotate the hair to different angles by clicking the little head shapes on the bottom left corner.
There are many good parts of the 3D Hairstyle Studio Editor. One is the fine detail in the hairstyles that looking very stellar from many different angles and include natural shine. The other is a good number of hairstyles and the company's note that many more hairstyles will continually be added. The search features is very useful and allows users to search by style, face shape, hair length, and hair texture. The best advantage of the program is the ease of use when selecting a hairstyle. Once selected, there is no aligning or resizing the hairstyle to make it fit. The 3D model and the hairstyle are aligned as long as the proper steps are used in creating the model. The little style info button is a great touch for informing users on many tidbits on the hairstyle including maintenance level, styling, trimming periods, and suitable face shapes. This would be a great place to mention celebrity names.
Stellure 3D Hairstyle Studio Editor Drawbacks
Although Stellure's 3D Hairstyle Studio Editor offers some a very unique look at hairstyles from many angles, there are some drawbacks. It is one of the more expensive sites unless the lifetime membership is purchased but this can be accounted for by the 3D enhancements. The 3D image is a very interesting image to have but the steps to create it take quite a while. There does not seem to be a celebrity catalog of hairstyles so it is hard to know which hairstyles were worn by which celebrities which many of us would like to know. The number of hair color choices is decent with 10 but adding more shades would be preferable. Another drawback is that there are only 6 hairstyles displayed which makes it much harder to browse. Showing 10 or more hairstyles at a time might be better method. The last drawback mentioned here that can be greatly improved is the number of hairstyles available. Although there are a good selection now, users want a much wider choice and hopefully Stellure will keep adding beautiful hairstyles to it's collection. Overall, the program is worth becoming a member as long as Stellure keeps adding new looks. The best bet would be the lifetime membership but users should make the free 3D image first which is free before deciding.
