Comments:

SHORT A-LINE FLIP: This has a lot of volume in back and is smooth in front. Layers are shorter in back and cut longer in front to draw your eye forward. The flip at the ends adds some sass to the style. Sweet!

Suitable for:

Face shapes: oval, square, round, heart, diamond

Hair texture: fine, medium or coarse

Hair density: thin, average to thick

Styling:

Maintenance: medium

Time: 10-15 minutes

Techniques: Blow dry and flat iron

Products: volumizing mousse for fine or medium hair, smoothing gel for coarse hair, root lift, Slick Works by Paul Mitchell, finishing hairspray, Gloss Drops by Paul Mitchell

Styling Steps:

1. Apply mousse or gel according to hair type.
2. Part hair above the arch in the right eyebrow in a zigzag part.
3. Spray a small amount of root lift in the crown area.
4. Following directions on the package, apply a very small amount of Slick Works from the middle through ends of hair, then brush product through.
5. Blow dry hair almost completely.
6. Using a large round brush, finish blow drying the hair to add volume in the roots. Wrap the hair around the brush and blow hot air away from scalp. Slide the brush out and use cool air from your blow dryer to smooth the hair at the same time.
7. Use a flat iron if needed to straighten hair that has any wave or curl to it, pulling the flat iron under to curl a little bit. Don’t take the flat iron all the way to the scalp or it will flatten your lift in the roots.
8. Tease the hair in the crown area from underneath to add more volume, then smooth over the top.
9. Following the instructions on the package label, apply a small amount of Gloss Drops to the ends of the hair to make them smooth. Keep away from roots or your hair will look greasy and limp.
10. Use a small amount of finishing hairspray on the completed style.
