SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL: This style works well on longer hair that is about shoulder blade length that has long layers and of course bangs.
Suitable for:
Face shape: oval, square, diamond, round
Hair texture: fine, medium, course
Hair density: average to thick
Styling:
Time: 15-20 minutes
Techniques: flat iron (smoothing iron), bobby pins, covered ponytail band
Products: firm styling gel, hair polish, firm hairspray
Styling Steps:
1. Start with dry hair that has been prepped with a firm hold styling gel. (Gel applied when hair was damp.)
2. Back comb at the crown to add height to style.
3. Separate the hair at the sides leaving out the hair from the top of the ear forward. Clip out of the way.
4. Smooth the rest of the hair at the back and create a ponytail in the upper middle of the head.
5. Use a covered ponytail band to make the ponytail.
6. Use the tail of a rat tail comb slide into the slicked hair to pull up on the crown a bit to ensure that there is a bit of height at the crown with the hair that is in the ponytail.
7. Use a small centimeter size section of hair at the bottom of the ponytail to wrap the hair around the ponytail holder. Don’t wrap using all the hair. Leave out a tail that is a couple inches long. Pin into the base of the ponytail to hold.
8. Take hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base of the ponytail, leaving out tails of hair and pin into the base of the pony tail. Let the tails make a pleasing arrangement in the back of the head.
9. Take a side section of hair and smooth it back towards the ponytail. Wrap the hair around the ponytail just once and use a bobby pin to secure the hair. Let the ends fall from the top of the ponytail spilling over onto the side back of the head.
10. Repeat on the other side. When wrapping the sides, try to go underneath the tails that have already been done in the back of the hair.
11. Finish with a finishing hairspray to help hold everything in place.
