QUICK AND EASY PROM UPDO This updo is great for below shoulder length hair. The haircut has a side swept fringe that is cut below the eye and tapers into the sides.

Techniques: paddle brush, covered band for ponytail, bobby pins, large barrel curling iron

Products: firm styling gel, hair polish, firm hairspray

Styling Steps:

1. Start with dry hair that has been prepped with a firm hold styling gel. (Gel applied when hair was damp.)

2. Part hair on the side.

3. Separate out fringe area.

4. Apply a small amount of hair polish to hands and run through the hair as you gather the hair up into a ponytail.

5. Brush the hair with the paddle brush to smooth it as you create the ponytail.

6. Secure with a covered band.

7. Separate the ponytail into various smaller sections.

8. Begin curling these sections with the curling iron.

9. Curl the hair in an eye pleasing manner.

10. Once the ponytail is all curled, begin arranging the curls in a balanced and pleasing manner.

11. Pin with bobby pins as necessary.

12. Brush the bangs in the direction you want them to go. Spray with hairspray.

13. Finish the style with a coat of hairspray to hold.
