IDEAL FOR MEDIUM LENGTH HAIR: This updo style is great for hair that is a little below shoulder length, but could work for lengths slightly shorter. This cut has a long fringe that sweeps the eyes and blends down into the sides, framing the face.
Suitable for:
Face shape: oval, square, round
Hair texture: fine, medium
Hair density: semi-thin to average
Styling:
Time: 40-50 minutes
Techniques: paddle brush, styling brush, large barrel curling iron, flat iron (smoothing iron), bobby pins, hairpins
Products: thermal setting spray, hair spray
Styling Steps:
1. Start with dry hair that has been prepped with a firm styling gel.
2. Part hair on the side and sweep the bangs over the forehead.
3. Use a flat iron if necessary to help bangs to flow in that direction. Put a slight bend in the ends.
4. Lift the hair up in the crown area and backcomb to help give fullness to the style.
5. Brush the hair behind the bangs back. Smooth all the hair back as if you are going to do a low ponytail.
6. Starting at the nape, begin rolling all the hair in one direction, and roll the hair onto itself. As you roll, you’ll begin moving up the center back of the head.
7. Once you get almost to the crown, begin pinning the hair inside the roll to help secure the hair.
8. Hair will hold well, if you criss-cross the pins inside the roll.
9. The ends will be out of the top of the roll. Begin to curl and fan the ends in a random manner. Pin as necessary to help hold curls and hair in place.
10. Finish with hairspray to hold the hair.
