Flirty updo for medium length hair This updo is wonderful for hair that is medium length with longer layers on top such as a layered bob.
Suitable for:
Face shape: oblong, oval, square, round
Hair texture: fine to medium
Hair density: thin to average
Styling:
Time: 40+ minutes
Techniques: blow dryer, hot rollers or 1”barrel curling iron
Products: firm styling gel, working spray, hairpins and clippies, firm hold finishing spray
Styling Steps:
1. Apply styling gel to clean damp hair. Distribute evenly and well through the hair.
2. Blow dry hair with a paddle brush. Hang head upside down and dry for volume.
3. Part hair on side and leave out fringe hair for later.
4. Set remaining hair on hot rollers or use 1” barrel curling iron. Don’t take too large of sections while you are curling.
5. If using curling iron, lightly mist a bit of working spray on hair before you curl.
6. Once hair is all curled, allow curls to cool before styling.
7. Finger through curls to break up and loosen, then lightly brush.
8. Starting in the back at the nape of the head, take vertical sections of hair and lightly twist upward and then pin the hair in place.
9. Continue through the rest of the nape until hair is pinned up in a pleasing manner. Allow loose tendrils of hair to fall out.
10. Continue pinning up the sides of the hair as well. Keep the look loose, don’t pull sections too tight!
11. Pin where you need to help curls shape and stay in place.
12. Working on the bangs now, brush through over to the side, then lightly spray with working spray. Tuck behind the ear.
13. Finish with firm hold finishing spray to help hold style through the night!
