HOT DATE CURLS: This style features fabulously long spiral curls that are half piled on top of the head for extra drama. Bangs are pulled up and away to open up the face. All the attention will be on you!

Suitable for:

Face shapes: oval, square, round, heart, diamond

Hair texture: fine, medium or coarse

Hair density: average to thick

Styling:

Maintenance: high

Time: 30+ minutes

Techniques: Blow dry and medium barrel curling iron

Products: volumizing mousse for fine or medium hair, smoothing gel for coarse hair, Round Trip by Paul Mitchell, finishing hairspray, Gloss Drops by Paul Mitchell, shine spray

Styling Steps:

1. Apply mousse or gel according to hair type.
2. Follow directions on the label and apply a small amount of Round Trip from middle through ends.
3. Blow dry hair completely.
4. Section hair in 2 inch horizontal layers around the head.
5. Starting in the back on the bottom, take a 1-2 inch section out of the layer and spray lightly with hairspray. Wrap hair around curling iron from ends to scalp in a spiral motion. Release after 20-30 seconds, depending on hair type.
6. Complete the bottom layer, mist very lightly with hairspray, then move up a layer. Continue this process for each layer while moving up the head. Alternate the direction of the curls.
7. For bangs and face framing, curl away from the face.
8. DO NOT BRUSH THROUGH THE CURLS. Spray the completed style with finishing hairspray to lock in curls and add shine. If any curls are too thick, separate gently with fingers.
9. Using bobby pins, start in the crown area and start pinning up random chunks of hair on top of your head. The first pieces should be right in the center, then as you move toward the outside of your hairline, overlap those pieces in the center.
10. Pin extra long pieces up on top or on the sides to add more volume.
11. Mist hair lightly with shine spray, making sure you cover roots with your free hand. This product will make your hair look greasy and limp if you use too much or get it in the roots so follow the manufacturers’ instructions closely.
