While experimenting with your look may be fun, keep in mind, sometimes there are limitations. You may want something that isn’t the best look for you. Personally, I create a lot of blondes and while I may wish to be a blonde , the look is not for me. Really, I’ve tried it! But when you establish a relationship with a stylist they will and should be honest with you. I do it all the time in a gentle and gracious manner, of course. Instead of focusing on why a certain look will not work, I prefer to talk about what will work. Remember, your stylist is there to not only ‘create a look’ but to enhance you overall. Ultimately, I prefer natural and chic looks whether the color/cut is subtle or bold. Do yourself a favor and do some research. Ask your friends, search the Internet and most of all, check out your local salons. Find a stylist that you have chemistry with and whose work you admire. There are talented stylists and rising stars in every salon waiting to make you fabulous. Make a personal investment and it will always reap rewards. Best of luck! Shannon, Creative Color – Golden Ratio Hair Color Design Inspired by Sacred Geometry, featured in MODERN SALON, June 2011 issue. Most notably, the Golden Ratio aka Fibonacci Spiral. Sacred Geometry is the blueprint of Creation and the genesis of all form. I pre-lightened the Fibonacci spiral design. The remaining hair was colored a rich, deep brown. After processing, the front was toned with silver while the remaining spiral design was toned with a soft, caramel brown. The result was a powerful and harmonious look!

Aurora, Creative Color – Aurora is my recent hair muse. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of creating a couple of distinct, arty looks for her including the LA Woman Hair Color Design. One night, I came across a gorgeous photo of an LA sunset. All I could think was…I need to paint that on somebody’s head. In addition, I also wanted to create a unique fringe to compliment it. The inspiration there came from the curved lines of freeway lights at nights. The front section was foiled and pre-lightened according to my design. The back section was pre-lightened free-hand. Blue, purple, silver, red, magenta and yellow color was applied progressively to the pre-lightened hair using 3D screen printing and watercolor techniques to create color overlay and for blending. This one-of-a-kind look is a definite head-turner.

When last we saw Aurora she was sporting my LA Woman – Sunset inspired hair color design. Now, we’ve caught her all tarted up! As in a blueberry tart with My Blue Heaven. After her sunset hair color faded a bit, she was faced with a big job interview. Yikes! We overlayed blue color over all of her hair to create this look. The result was a deep navy blue, the color of blueberries. And, yes, she got the job. A very cool job, indeed! With hair like that, how could they resist?

Soraya, Makeover - When I first met Soraya, her hair was long, stringy, fine and somewhat curly. To compliment her strong features yet petite build, we first created a shattered bob cut. Then, fine sections were foiled and colored a caramel brown shade. The remaining hair was colored a rich brunette. All of a sudden, she had thick, voluminous hair with subtle, delicious caramel highlights.
Jenn, Asymmetrical Cut - Jenn is a fun, fresh spirit that loves to play with her look. She recently asked me for a fun cut where she wouldn’t have to sacrifice too much length. The perimeter was trimmed slightly. But, the fun is in the shorter, soft shapes which play up her color and allow for a nicer overall rhythm and flow.
