2012 is officially underway and many of us are hard at work on those pesky new year’s resolutions. From eating better to exercising more, the majority of resolutions fall under the “better health” category. While your health is super important (we’ve blogged a number of times about how your overall health affects your hair), we would like you to consider a different type of resolution. How about trying something new with your hair for 2012?
I’m not sure about you, but when I get a new cut or color it is one of the greatest mood and confidence boosters ever! I walk out of the salon feeling renewed, refreshed and beautiful. I love to start the new year with a new hair color so I thought I would share some hot color trends and ideas for 2012 to kick off your new year’s HAIR resolution. It may not be the typical kind of resolution you are used to, but I promise doing something beautiful for yourself will lift your mood and maybe even help you stick to those other (less fun) resolutions :)
Warm and rich hair hues are definitely hanging around for 2012. Spice up your brunette with a hint of mahogany or boost your blonde with a touch of honey to really add interest and depth to your base color. Try a shade of high or lowlights you have yet to try and give your overall color a new look.

Ombre and Balayage hair coloring techniques are still hot for the new year as well, but why not mix it up a bit? Instead of a dark base with lighter tips, reverse it! Go for a lighter base with darker ends and rock the ‘reverse Ombre‘ hair color look that some of our stylist sources say will be super trendy in 2012.

Bold is beautiful when it comes to new hair in the new year! Think outside the box when it comes to color with hues of blues, reds, pinks and yellows. Worried that with your age or job that you can’t pull off an out-of-the-box color? Try strategically placing a colorful streak as a peekaboo highlight that only show when you have your hair up or styled a certain way. We are totally color-inspired by these fun looks from haircutshairstyles.com.
