Kim Kardashian may be known for her long, perfectly curled locks, but lately the reality star looks like she’s been stealing a style page out of edgy younger sis Kylie Jenner’s book. From the brand new shorter ‘do to the tousled tresses, she definitely channeled her inner little Jenner at the 2014 GQ Men Of The Year Awards. Just don’t expect Kim to go and dye her tips blue anytime soon though!
Grunge Goes Glam: A Kim Kardashian Hair Tutorial
Step 1: Prep your hair using a small amount of No Frizz by Balanced Guru. Not only will this protect your tresses against humidity and moisture, but it’ll also give your mane incredible shine and make it much more manageable.
Step 2: Now, to ensure total control over your style, separate it into several convenient sections: the top, sides, crown and nape.
Step 3: With a large paddle brush (Mason Pearson is a great choice if you don’t already own one), begin to blow dry your hair, lifting it at the root until it’s dry and continuing down each section to smooth it out.
Step 4: For your fringe area, use a medium round brush to smooth and slightly bend the ends.
Step 5: Next, take large sections of hair (about two inches wide each) and spray them with White Sands Liquid Texture Medium Hold. Wrap 3/4 of the section around a 1½-inch curling iron, leaving the ends free. Hold for approximately ten seconds and release.
Step 6: Continue curling two-inch sections of hair until you’ve finished your entire head. Allow the waves to cool, then with your fingers, slightly loosen them so that they fall naturally.
Step 7: To achieve straight ends like Kim, grab large sections of hair again and run a flat iron through the bottom two inches of them.
Step 8: Finally, complete the look with a gloss spray like Rene Furterer’s Glossing Spray for the perfect finish without weighing your hair down.
