We’ve been fans of Anna Kendrick since her Twilight days, but her best film, in our humble opinion, is definitely Pitch Perfect. Now that Anna and the rest of the Barden Bellas are returning to theaters this May in Pitch Perfect 2, we decided it was about time we pay homage to Anna’s top 10 hairstyles thus far.
Anna’s sleek style for the Into the Woods premiere will always be one of our favorite ‘dos! Why? Well, it paired perfectly with her LBD and rosy lips.
Get the look: After washing hair, apply L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Extreme Style Gel to wet strands before blow drying. Anna’s look is sleek but not totally wet-looking, so a gel will help maintain a partially damp look without going overboard. Blow dry and run a shine product through hair to reinforce that sleek texture. Optional: Pin the sides back a touch to increase the sleek factor.
Bounce and body were the words of the day when Anna stepped out in these enviable shiny curls.
Get the look: With second day hair, prep locks with a shine-based product like Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil, then curl 1″ sections of hair away from your face. Let curls cool, then finger comb them apart to give the look a more lived-in effect. Spritz hair with a touch of Alterna Bamboo Style Ultra Hold Hair Spray and you’re good to go!
Tousled, intentionally messy hair is extremely sexy, if you ask us. And we think Anna nailed the look with this sassy updo she wore to a Twilight premiere.
Get the look: Spritz second day hair with Kerastase Spray à Porter to create sexy beach waves. Then, gather hair like you’re about to form a bun, but tease the section right behind your part to give hair a bit of height. Then, secure into a bun and pull out a few pieces in the front to frame your face.
Ponytails are great, but you know what we love even more? Sideswept ponytails! The actress definitely rocked this curly style with plenty of attitude.
Get the look: Start by curling second day hair from the mid shaft down with ghd Curve Soft Curl Iron. Spray each section after curling and let cool. While hair is setting, lightly curl two face-framing sections. Comb curls apart with your fingers to loosen them up a bit, then comb hair over to one side. Secure hair into a low ponytail and voila, you’re done!
We adored this uber shiny updo when Anna first sported it, and we’re recalling fond memories now that we’re seeing it again.
Get the look: Create this ‘do with second day hair so your updo has more hold! If your hair is mostly straight to begin with, go ahead and proceed to the next step now but if not, run a flat iron through locks briefly just to smooth things out. Now, create a deep side part and spray Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Illuminating Dry Oil Spray generously through locks. Secure hair into a bun tightly and adjust any stray pieces.
Half and Half
Anna gave us the best of both worlds with this flirty half updo featuring slightly wavy locks.
Get the look: Taking one-inch sections of hair, curl loose waves all over your head. Next, pull hair back into a half updo, securing with an elastic (or clip for a looser look), making sure to leave some pieces in the front to frame your pretty face.
When you’re attending Fashion Week, you better show up tressed to impress, and Anna did just that with sultry, straight hair we totally dig.
Get the look: Wash hair with Clear Hair Care Intense Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner and blow dry with a round brush to start your straight ‘do off right. Then, prep hair with a heat protectant and smooth out strands using Remington’s T Studio PROtect Straightener.
Anna looked utterly glam in her evening gown, glowing makeup and bombshell curls worn swept to one side.
Get the look: With second day hair, prep strands with a shine-based product. Curl 2″ sections of hair tightly from the mid shaft down, spritzing each curl with BioSilk Silk Therapy Finishing Spray Firm Hold and letting them cool. Gather hair to one side and pin in the back, then spray your entire head again.
Anna’s adorable braided ‘do is definitely getting us in the mood for the coming summer months!
Get the look: Choose which side you’d like your braid to go on and start french braiding in a backwards motion. Wrap the braid around the side of your head and secure with an elastic and bobby pin. Now, form a low bun with the rest of your hair and pin the braid into the bun before securing.
We think Anna’s fancy schmancy Tony Awards hairstyle was definitely worthy of an award, and looked gorgeous with her glowing skin and smokey eyes.
Get the look: To achieve this special event-worthy style, start by washing hair with a shine-enhanced shampoo then blow dry. Next, curl small sections, spraying each with Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray Finishing Spray and letting each section cool. Note: Make sure to leave the bang area straight. Form a chic chignon, secure and blast hair with one last bout of spray.
