Eperience: I have been doing formal hairstyles since I was a teenager. I would style my own hair every day in some crazy way and people would ask how I did it. Now my specialty is offering EVERYONE that information. I live by the Chinese proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I like being able to help teach people to do something fun, that makes them feel good about themselves.
Training: I went to cosmetology school at Scot Lewis - A Paul Mitchell School in St Paul, Minnesota in 2005. I loved all aspects of doing hair: cutting, coloring, styling... We would get bridal parties every Saturday and I would get the bride - my favorite! I love knowing that my style will be in someone's memories forever (hopefully in a good way!) We would also get tons of girls getting ready for prom or some other formal dance, and it was so much fun to help make them look fabulous!
I entered updo contests on several occasions and won tons of fun prizes. It's amazing that there are so many ways to put hair up on top of a head and make it look different every time! One of my favorite contests was the one we had for Constitution Day. I used a mannequin head, a birds nest and fake bird, baby powder (for that old-time wig look), pearls hot glued to bobby pins, and some crazy flowers. I still can't believe I won that contest!
Specialties: I specialize in doing updo's. I can recreate most that I see, and it's like a puzzle for me (a fun one!) to break the style down in my head and build it up again. I still love cutting and coloring, but styling is my favorite!
Education: Scot Lewis, St Paul, MN
