How Do I Use This Hair Straightener?

So you bought a flat iron to get sleek sexy straight hair. You want to look like the girls you see in magazines. But HOW? Here are some tips to help you get that super shiny straight hair.

Towel dry your hair til it is only damp. Put a product in your hair to protect it from the heat of the flat iron. There are tons of products out there made especially for straightening, so pick your favorite product line and look for the bottle that says something about “straight” hair. When you put the product in, make sure you only use a little bit. It is much easier to add more if you need it than to remove it if you get too much in your hair. Start at the ends and work up the hair strand. Take a brush and pull it through your hair to distribute the product evenly throughout.

Blow dry your hair completely from roots to ends. Blowing from top to bottom will help keep the cuticles that coat your hair lying down, which helps it look more smooth. Make sure your flat iron is set to the right temperature for your hair type. You don’t want to scorch your hair! Section your hair off starting in the back on the bottom into a 2-4” section. Having smaller sections helps the heat penetrate the hair better, so you will get a better result than if you tried to do a lot of hair at once. Comb through the section you are going to straighten with a comb and follow with the flat iron to make sure the hairs are really straight. Keep doing this, section by section, from the back forward. You will be amazed at how straight you can get your hair! Finish off with a silicone based serum or gloss product for the ends when you are done and the hair has cooled off.

Once you do it a few times, it goes fairly quickly and it will look like you just left the salon. Perfect!
